My antiques and heirlooms were destroyed by mold and water from an air conditioner leak. Nicole, the manager, was insensitive unprofessional and hung up on me less than 3 minutes after I called. I have the recording. They refused to acknowledge the damage their negligence caused and refused to even hear my concerns. She should not be working with the public if you don't know how to treat customers with respect and professionalism. Also, the prices are much higher than any other storage facility in the state. They start low, but raise the rents by $80-$100 a year. If you know what's best, get a unit elsewhere! Even one star is too generous. Run away from this awful, unprofessional place. read more

Called to find out on renewing and paying for the year in advance. Gentleman I spoke to stated that the there is really no need cause he never sees the prices of the smaller units go up in price. 1 week later I get a notice, price nearly doubled. I went there in person and the lady behind the counter told me the Gentleman I spoke to is new and he shouldn't of said that. Worst part is I was no longer able to pay for the year in advance for the reduced rate. I literally didn't pay for it in advance to lock in my rate because "Nick" I believe his name is told me there was no need to. I literally had my credit card out while I was speaking to him. Based on that, I got screwed. Learning lesson for me and they should have honored the rate prior to the increase if I paid for it 1 year in full. Super disappointing...based on the inaccurate information I received I got the short end of the stick. Time to change storage spots. read more

I completely understand the need for periodic rate hikes but I believe 43% rate increase is excessive especially when competitors are offering the same size unit at 14% above what I am currently paying. read more

Buyer Beware!! Deceptive Liars!! This company participates in deceptive bait and switch tactics! They will entice you to sign up with low rates and then raise the rents TWICE in one year, despite what the contract states. My rent went up TWO times in less than one year by nearly a $100 difference. When inquired, the representative said that this is to keep up with current rates. At that point you are going to be stuck, either paying or finding somewhere else to store your things. read more

This has to be the worst storage facility I have ever rented. I have been to Westy, CubeSmart, Hampton storage. Of course the best was Westy. Cubesmart was great too. I have a problem with the humidity... they keep temperature at 80 degrees.... it's cooler outside than inside. I just started moving in half of my belongings in a 10x15 space on the ground interior floor and my boxes are damp already. Today I brought in one load and my hair was drenched from sweat. I have called 3x and no one has called me back yet. They claim there's a dehumidifier but that's impossible. Maybe it's broken. They are known for that. It's so humid you can't breath. I don't here or feel any air blowing. There's is NO AIR CIRCULATION! I can't even stay there long enough to organize my belongings. There are rat and mice traps everywhere... I am supposed to move my furniture and clothes and fabrics in Saturday and I am petrified that they will smell like a basement with mildew... floors have cracks in them and are filthy! Fairfield is a flood zone therefore with one rainstorm the ground is saturated... HORRIBLE!!!! $230 a month is a lot of money for a place that doesn't care about people or your things. Mind you the day I rented it, was a cooler day, it was 68 degrees out. It smells like water damage as soon as you walk in the door. The unit door handles are even corroded. I am planning on moving everything again to another company maybe Lifestorage... or Cubesmart and I will lose money because I have to pay movers again. Also note that yesterday, there was a moving company complaining about the same thing. read more

I used to feel that this place can easily be given 3-4 stars. That quickly went downhill after a conversation I had with John, the site manager. I received a letter that my price would be increased. I'm already paying an inflated rated. Keep in mind, my storage unit is on the third floor in the back of the building. He said that I'm below market already and I would be denied a decrease in the rate. I asked to have the regional manager, Jason, give me a call and he stated that he would give him the information but he probably won't call me back. I'm overwhelmed by such an extreme lack of customer service. I then considered possibly leaving this storage facility and he had no problem with me canceling. Keep in mind I work at least 70 hours a week and having to move to another facility would be overwhelming to my schedule. It's amazing that they would be willing to lose a customer over such a small amount of money. Maybe take a class in business and you will learn that "word of mouth" can be your greatest downfall. I've also placed a security camera in my unit because on multiple occasions, my unit has definitely been tampered with. In this day and age of social media and online reviews, Extra Space Storage should consider better business practices. read more

Our service has been great so far. Heather was extraordinarily helpful from the moment we started moving our furniture and boxes in. The hours are pretty good, and getting into/out of our unit is easy and feels very secure. We've been in to move more stuff about 4 times and it's never been overly crowded, nor has it been difficult to find a cart to move heavier items. read more

The day before my actual move I went to the facility and met the friendly staff. I then toured the facility and ensured the unit I booked would meet my needs. The process was fast, easy and efficient; the facility was clean, well secured and well lit. My move day went seamlessly.
