I called ahead and clearly explained the service I needed: I already had my diploma and the official frame from my university and simply needed the diploma placed neatly into the frame -- straight, clean, and free of dust, hairs, or kinks. The woman on the phone quoted me $30. About 10 minutes later I arrived at the store with the frame and diploma. The young man at the counter was very polite. I explained the same thing again and after thinking for a few seconds he told me the price would be $50. I explained that I had literally just been quoted $30 on the phone. He was understanding and went to get the woman I had spoken with. When she came out, the explanations for the price change kept shifting. First she said the diploma was "bigger than standard." Then she said they had to "figure out how to take the frame apart." Then she said it would take more time because of the size. None of this made sense because I had already described exactly what I needed done when I called. Nothing about the job had changed between the phone call and walking into the store. I even offered to meet in the middle and pay $40 just to resolve it quickly. She refused and insisted on $50. At that point it felt like a classic bait-and-switch: quote one price over the phone, then raise it once the customer is standing there with a large frame and has already made the trip. I declined and walked out. I then walked up the block to another framing store, explained the exact same situation, and they charged $30 -- the exact price I had originally been quoted here. The whole thing was done neatly in about 15 minutes. The young man at the counter here seemed kind, but the way the pricing changed after I arrived felt extremely unprofessional. There are other framing shops nearby that will give you a price and actually stand by it. read more

Excellent work and good prices. Very professional friendly courteous and knowledgeable

I walked in to this shop having spotted it last second in my neighborhood before the holidays. I had wanted to get a picture of my nephews framed in black and white to bring back to Massachusetts for Christmas. Yaqub helped me pick out the frame, size and gave suggestions on coloring. He initially told me the frames would not be ready until Monday but when I explained I was traveling over the weekend he said it would be ready by the next day at the latest. A few hours later, he emails me and says it is ready for pick-up. The frames are perfect. They look amazing and are exactly what I wanted. I could not be happier with this experience and will continue to come back for all framing needs. read more

Framing artwork can be an intimidating project, but the team at Decor made it both easy and affordable. Jacob the owner walked me through a variety of options to fit my budget and aesthetics. He and his team turned the job around very quickly, and in the end when I had requests for adjustments, they were reasonable and accommodating for my needs. The end result looks fantastic and I couldn't be happier with the job and their service! read more

Decor Art Gallery - Chinese scroll painting on rice paper with silk brocade margin. Not an easy job! - Art Galleries Near Me - New York, New York

Hands down the best framer in NYC. The quality of the framing is unbeatable, they have an excellent selection of frames and mats and the turnaround time is very reasonable. Jacob is the best in the business and I was so happy to discover his shop after following my former framer, Eddie, from his shop in Chelsea when he moved here. And a special shout-out to Alexis for getting a piece done for me in record time last week. It made for an incredible birthday gift. I love coming in to see these guys. read more

There happen to be a few Framing stores on Third avenue, but none come close to being as great as Decor Art at 455 Third Avenue between 31 & 32nd Street. The owner Jacob is a master framer and their prices can not be beat. Open 7 days a week they also have beautiful art and they recently added a large selection of Jewish Marriage Ketubahs. Decor Art and Jacob you ROCK! read more

Definitely avoid this place unless you want to be called names, be belittled or accused of stealing framing techniques. I stopped by one day to inquire about framing an item and rough costs. During this visit I tried to provide all the information I could, the size, and what type of frame I wanted. I wanted a simple frame and nothing fancy. I also asked how the item would be mounted whether it would be glued permanently on to a backing or creating space. I would think these would be normal types of question but I guess the first warning was he almost didn't want to answer them since he thinks I would steal his secrets. Either way I asked for a rough quote and he told me to bring in the item. I think most of these guys will tell you to bring your things since if you are already there there's a likelihood you stay. Second visit, I brought in my item (it's fairly big and tough to carry) and he decided to show me all the types of thing we can do. Wanted to stick with the simple frame and now the price increased over 60%. Asked why this is so different and now the techniques changed, he wanted to use a bigger size, and charge for other things. I was surprised of the price difference so of course I questioned it. The response was that I was not the expert, things change, and I that don't understand. He and I started shouting at each other but how can you treat a customer that way. Walked away from such a arrogant person and happy to not do business here. Don't believe people when they start saying things like I'm the best or only a few people can do what I do. read more

This is the second time we've had Decor Art Gallery frame artwork for us. Both visits they took their time to find out our tastes and made suggestions based on our conversations. They made sure we were completely comfortable with our choices before moving on to the next customer. They were patient, engaging, and professional. Their customer service was outstanding. We also remarked how passionate and knowledgeable they were about artwork. Both times the finished products exceeded our expectations. This is the art gallery that sets the gold standard. HIGHLY recommend! read more

Best framing store in the city! Anna you are an expert framer with meticulous precision....Thank you!

First of all, Decor Art Gallery had an amazing selection of great art. Within the first two minutes in the store I could see 10 items I would want to buy. On top of that, they were so so helpful and knowledgeable. I bought a piece as a wedding present for my friend but I had to get it to her in Puerto Rico. I was quite worried about damage in transit etc and they were extremely knowledgeable and helped pack it for me. It made it safely and my friend can't stop talking about the piece. They really had some of the most outstanding customer service I've seen in years. read more

This place is truly spectacular. Excellent work and wonderfully "old school" in terms of craftsmanship but also customer service and a human touch. They have done original photographs and artwork as well as mounted objects for me - all excellent. Highly recommend! read more

I frame all my artwork at this framing store. Jacob is very knowledgeable and has an excellent eye for framing suggestions. I think their prices are fair and there are lots of options to choose from. I have brought in everything from a canvas to be stretched on wood, to a papercut out to be framed between 2 pieces of glass for the "floating" look, and photographs/drawings. All the above ended up looking more rich, beautiful and professional after being framed. I highly recommend this shop. read more
