Sam and Gabriella have framed several of my paintings. All outstanding done, timely, accurately with beautiful craftsmanship. This is my "go to" framer and I have used many framers in the past five decades. Sam and Gabriella always deliver above and beyond. Quality, price, wonderful and friendly customer service! read more

I highly recommend City Gallery Framing. Sam has an artist's approach in his recommendations. I have brought in a large abstract oil, a traditional Japanese print, a contemporary graphic drawing and each time Sam has carefully selected just the right frame and mat solution. His prices are fair and the work is completed within a week and sometimes before the promised date. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this store. It has an old world feeling, like you stepped into a store in Prague or Paris. The proprietor, Sam, also has an "old world" manner about him and on top if that is delightful to work with: gracious, patient, knowledgeable, kind. He has beautiful merchandise at *all* price points and an artist's eye. No matter how beautiful or even mundane, his work elevates whatever you bring in. read more

I needed a large oil painting which was basically a realistic oil sketch portrait with no background (simply primed canvas) cut down and put on new stretchers. It was wrapped in bubble when I picked it up and paid $250. When I went to hang it, there were large wrinkles on all four corners. It had not been properly stretched. When I went back the next day to complain, he took no interest and offered no help blaming it on its condition. I went home and found help on u-tube. That by spraying the back of the canvas with water and the use of a hair dryer I could tighten it up a bit. Since there were no shims, that wasn't an option. He talks a good game and is charming unless you have a problem with his work. Since I did not want a frame for it, it doesn't matter if he has a good eye. The work was poorly done and unprofessional. I never write reviews. I came to this shop because it looked like a small family business. Unfortunately they are unprofessional and were not able to deliver as promised neither on time or quality. After blaming covid for delay and refunding me my payment for service, they ask me what I wanted them to do to solve their problems for the delay. Not my job. read more

What a great place to have my art work framed. Very patient in picking out frame and matting. The owner has a real good eye for selecting frame and matting that brings out the art work. They also deliver for free. No schlepping it back and forth. Thanks again for a great job!!! read more

Our pairing class with Sam was so fun! Neither of us had ever made a painting before and we left with two beautiful beach scenes! Sam is a great art teacher and his jokes were very entertaining! Highly recommend a painting hangout class here. read more

The best frame shop on 57th street. It's a quaint little spot with loads of character. They always have eclectic art & do a fabulous job on all my framing needs. I've been going here for over 3 years when I'm on the UES. I enjoy the owner Sam as well, he's always very accommodating regardless of my picky needs. I'll be going back sometime soon I'm sure as the holidays are around the corner & gifts will be in order. read more

Great selection and great service. First time I've had anything framed but was pleasantly surprised with how helpful Sam was with choosing matte sizing, frame sizing and frame in general. Such a large selection you could find anything you wanted. read more

Just came here to get a bunch of cheap posters and place mats that I bought on a trip to be framed as wall-art. You'd never know what I brought in, based on the end product. WOW. Sam presents a great selection of frames, glass, fitting styles, etc. At first I was a little reluctant because the quotes weren't cheap. I've been to cheaper places in Alphabet City. But you know, you get what you pay for. It was definitely worth paying the premium for this fantastic service. The work was done quicker than expected, and Sam's hours are very flexible versus other vendors in the neighborhood. It's actually cheaper to find photos/posters to be framed, than to try to buy ready-to-hang wall-art. So glad I didn't get stuck buying some average frames online, I feel like this work was customized to my needs. I highly recommend, and I'm feeling inspired to frame more wall-art now! read more

Sam is a dedicated, trustworthy, and generous small business owner. He clearly cares a great deal about pleasing customers. He rushed my job even though my timeline was absurdly short. Did a great job and didn't try to hike the price on me at all even though I even offered to pay more. Great work and very reasonable cost read more

Sam is "The Man"! He's an incredible framer and has great taste and the inventory to match. He is attentive and responds quickly to requests and I never have worry about being treated fairly I was a pro photographer and have spent years buying and framing my own work. This makes me incredibly picky when others do the same work for me. Don't be an idiot! I urge you to let Sam work on your special projects. You will be delighted with his work. Rafael read more

I was ready to give this shop a five-star review. They did a great framing job for me - speedy, professional, beautifully-done, and several days ahead of time. Then, I had a really bad experience that I would like to share. l came into the shop soon after opening this week carrying an envelope with two small maps I wanted framed. There was only one employee there, who I later learned was their part-time framer. He said he couldn't help me with pricing or selection of frames. I was running errands in the neighborhood so I asked if I could leave the items there and come back later and talk to another employee, He said, sure. When I came back later, he was gone and the package was gone. Sam called him and he confirmed that I had dropped off an envelope but "it was gone when I left. Perhaps he took it with him after all." I had just purchased the two maps at a local antique map and print shop. I can (unhappily) accept the monetary loss but I will never find those two maps again. read more

I probably have around 500+ picture frames around my apartment for photos I've taken so I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on frames, but when I got married and had my Ketubah made I needed something beyond your basic frame for this. I visited a few frame shops that were recommended to me by others but didn't like the frames available or the pricing or the turn around time at those places. Out of pure coincidence, I came across City Gallery Framing while walking my dog, and came back later in the day to inquire about their frames/pricing etc. I got to meet the gallery owner and one of the employees who were both so incredibly helpful, and patient as I perused for a good 45 minutes at all their amazing frame options. They took the time to take frames I liked around the shop and laid them out on the table for me to be able to visualize how it will look with the Ketubah. I eventually found the perfect one! They were so quick in framing, very affordable for having such high end frames, and had a crazy amount of options to choose from. I highly highly recommend them!! read more

Sam was professional and polite, while offering excellent advice pertaining to our framing options. He had his employee watch our car to avoid a parking ticket. He did an excellent job and I would recommend him highly. read more

I've been going to see City for 4 years now, not that it's a long period of time considering Hialrio, been framing in this lovely space in a lovely gallery and he was was working in KEW Gallery more than 30 years. almost every body in this neighborhood knows him.. It's clear that they take their work seriously and the finished products always leave me happy. Framing is incredibly expensive, but Hilario and Sam always give me 20% cheaper than other Framing places I noticed . They are are definitely fair in their prices. Except that, they only take care of their customers seriously all the time....Lol read more

The framing experience was perfect! The artwork was matted with triple levels of board, a simple black frame with optically clear glass. The piece now looks impressive, it is with confidence I send my recommendation for this framing business. read more

City Gallery Framing - All 3 maps framed by City Gallery - Art Galleries Near Me - New York, New York

Sam did a fantastic job at a very reasonable price. He was very helpful, providing options and making smart recommendations. While there are several other options out there (e.g. having it delivered framed, doing it yourself, other professionals), it was a no-brainer bringing them to Sam (just give him a call). Having recently moved, I will definitely be bringing many more prints back. read more

I came here for a frame I needed done. Sam heard me out, provided helpful advice, and we worked together to find a good frame design for the project. I really appreciated that Sam didn't make any promises he couldn't keep about options, timing, and price. He got the frame done on a rush schedule at a reasonable price. The frame turned out beautifully and I will definitely be going back to Sam for my future framing needs. read more

A local artist recently recommended that I check out this place; and I'm glad that I did. Framing to me is not only protection/preservation but also the "final touch" that complements the artwork. It is where the collector adds his personal interpretation to the artwork. As a result, I have long agreed to accept the price of J Pocker for its quality. I was skeptical at using other framers, and only decided to "give it a shot" because the artist herself spoke highly of them. When I got my first frame from Sam (the owner) and Hilario (the framer) I was instantly sold - for far more competitive pricing I see no sacrifice in the quality or attention to detail, from glazing to matting to sealing. The frame felt personally made, and that is a high accomplishment in framing. Both Hilario and Sam have a good eye in finding the right frame options that do not conflict with the art. They are also patient, welcoming and genuinely interested in talking to you and finding out what you want - I never felt rushed. read more

I had a great experience here and will definitely be back next time I have the need. I brought in a canvas that was was damaged, needed to be re-stretched, and framed. Sam was very friendly and helped me choose the perfect frame. A few days later I picked it up and was thrilled with the results -- looks brand new!! Highly recommend. read more

My experience could not have been more different - or unhappy - then the other reviews. Promised for Thursday. I called Saturday when I had not received the item or a call, to be told framer had a medical emergency. No explanation why I wasn't called in two-day miss. Monday promised; not delivered; got exact same framer story (raises doubts about accuracy). Tuesday went to the shop; was first told it had been delivered but they called driver and found otherwise. They promised delivery by Wednesday at 11; small price concession. Finally delivered about 12:30 - and the job did not conform to our discussions in appearance making it not fit. I hung it elsewhere than originally intended and will have next framing done elsewhere. The only accurate piece of information I seem to have been given was the address. read more

On the recommendation of a colleague, who has had great results, I took a water color on canvas that was made by a personal friend for framing. It was a graduation gift for my son. Sam helped me select the perfect frame and offered free delivery in the neighborhood. However when the finished product arrived, and my son removed the plastic wrap, we saw that the corner of the frame had been chipped, no doubt damaged during delivery. I took it back and they attempted to repair it but the result was less than perfect. So Sam generously offered to completely replace the frame with a brand new one so that the end result was good as new. He wanted to be sure that we were satisfied with the finished product. I will definitely go back for my next framing need. Very high standard of service and a great person. read more

I came here to have a very special item from a recent trip framed, and the customer service, professionalism, kindness, and high quality products were amazing. He helped me pick the perfect matting and frame and promised a quick delivery. It is not inexpensive but equal to what you'd find in other shops. Highly recommend this! read more

Came here because I had a horrible experience at the frame shop few blocks of this place. I'm glad I did! The owner, Sam,here was extremely nice and walked us through many different options for canvas stretching and framing. I asked him about the price and gave us very reasonable prices. When I got my canvas print back stretched and framed I was very impressed and it makes a great piece for our living room. Highly recommend this place if you're in anywhere in Manhattan looking for great (honest) customer service and very reasonable prices for framing. This store is great. They have a wide selection of beautiful pictures and do custom work at affordable prices. It took me a while to decide what photo I wanted to have mounted but he promptly answered all of my emails for months! His customer service exceed my expectations. I'm proud to display my art from Quality Gallery and I recommend this business completely. Thank you Sam. He has done a few projects for me including a piece of artwork made by my dog and a complicated collage piece as well. He helped me lay it out in a beautiful way, and executed the pieces beautifully. The turnaround time was quick, the work detail oriented and flawlessly finished. Sam himself is great with his customers. I found myself wishing I had more things to frame :) I'd recommend this place to anyone trusting good framers like him and his team read more

Just found this store on Yelp and went over to get 2 things framed. Sam could not have been nicer or more professional. He really knows his stuff. And they have Paint Night! There's also a coupon for 20% off on custom framing. Can't wait to see the results, but I'm expecting the best! read more

I had an extremely positive experience with Sam. First, he spent a lot of time with me picking out the perfect frames to fit my degrees. He offered advice in a non-judgmental, but clearly informed way and his knowledge of the different materials used made me feel very comfortable that my degrees would be in good hands. Then, the turnaround time was much faster than he had initially quoted. When I picked up my degrees, I was initially unhappy because they appeared to be a bit tilted. However, when I mentioned this to Sam he was extremely accommodating and offered to fix the framing for free (and quickly) and then he hand-delivered them to my office so that I did not need to make another trip to his store. I would absolutely use him again for anything that I need framed as he not only did a fantastic job but was extremely easy and accommodating to work with. read more

This guy is really the worst. The first time I had an expensive print framed at this shop, the guy already treated me like a jerk who knows nothing. Anyways, I thought to myself - as long as he does a good, I can stand that. When I returned to pick up the item, I was initially quite happy as the result looked well (through bubble wrap). At home, after unwrapping the piece, I realised that the frame had three major dents and scratches. I thought this way terrible and emailed the owner of this shop to reconcile. No answer to my emails. Some weeks later, I went back as I had another thing to frame and thought to myself: "Let's give him another try". This time the result was even worse: The frame way okay this time but on the glass (within the visible area) was a production stamp from the glass company that does not come off. To sum up, you pay what you get for. This shop is cheap but their work is really sloppy. I would definitely recommend to go elsewhere! read more
