They drag the time to frame my stuff. I was told that to frame my project will take 2 weeks. After 2 weeks i went back they push back the time another week. now it's a mouth and 3 weeks still not done. When i went to them the keep telling me next week it will be done or still waiting for some part. I went back every week for 3 week straight. Then they say they will contact me. Another week has passed still didn't get it back.i only have one item to get frame. Once I get my stuff back I will not use them again. read more

Absolutely atrocious experience. Saw that this shop at over 100 5-star reviews and thought this would be a great place to get framing done. I had a few pieces handled elsewhere due to where I was living at the time and had issue-less times. To my surprise, Rooq surpassed my worst expectations. The framing service was initially supposed to take 2 weeks to complete, a reasonable timeframe for this type of project. However, after the 2 week time frame was up, no progress had been made on my frame. They then said this job would be handled the next week... this also was not the case because of issues with the frame they ordered. Somehow, one side of the frame was an inch thicker... They proceeded to say that this would get done the following week and this would be expedited because of the previous issues...as you can imagine, this too did not happen. The new frame that came in was in raggedy shape and looked like it was found out of a dumpster. After this series of continuous mishaps and an month of no progress decided to take my business elsewhere. Highly consider other options before visiting this business read more

I finally have to go elsewhere because they are so fucking good I ended up covering my entire house with ROOQ framing, and even though they did everything they could to work with me, I just can't treat it casually anymore due to changing financial circumstances. ROOQ framing is the greatest framing company in America. They're so tasteful and millimeter perfect, a family business of immigrants that are trusted with the most meaningful things and come up with such tasteful and perfect framing. On the rare occasions that I've nitpicked, they've always fixed it. I've framed over 100 jobs with them over ten years. They are the best of the best of the best. This is unfortunate for me, because it meant I spent so much fucking money there. Because when you have a store like ROOQ, why ever go anywhere else? If you're not an obsessive framer with a busted budget, if you have something very meaningful to you, go here. And they are infinitely patient and will listen patiently to your ideas, present their own, and then do whatever you want. I really can't think of a family owned business in NYC that has more real estate in my mind -- their work covers my entire house walls in the finest memories and experiences I've had. I've trusted them with original work by Jeff Koons, Virgil Abloh, and Robert Frank, incredibly rare concert posters with four figure values, irreplaceable prints and correspondence -- there is no one better on Earth. The manager at this location is clueless. The frame they made for me was damaged and instead of standing behind their product and service she sent a lame email (after I was promised she would call me back. I waited over 4 hours). The delivery was also significantly late as it was promised for two weeks. When I called to check the status at the two week point I was told they hadn't even received the frame yet. Nelow was a true pro, incredibly helpful, not at all pushy, and with a great eye! I told her my general aesthetic and thoughts on framing my partner's prized and rare print, and she talked me through several options. Her communication was clear, and if I had trouble picturing something, she showed me something on the wall or materials that could help me to visualize. The staff is VERY knowledgeable about art & highly professional. They provided excellent and reasonable guidance with style of frame, mounting and glass as well as how to care for these valued pieces. They are also super friendly which is a plus! I ended up with a barn wood frame for my Into-the-Wild-like print to keep it thematic and for my other two cheapo prints that I bought from Urban Outfitters for $25 or less, she help me choose a gold leaf frame and a clean white one which really elevated the look. But not before I was practically standing on top of their table and using ridiculous hand gestures trying to imagine how one frame compared to the other. Thanks for so patient with me. Very reasonable prices for a great job. I have had had three pieces of varied size framed there and the work is top notch. Jawed and Nilo were friendly, knowledgeable, and creatively on point. I knew what I wanted for the main piece but still they helped me with the particulars. I took suggestions for the other two, and it was a fun process in which they never felt impatient during. I can't say this will happen for everyone but, maybe because of the volume I brought, Jawed upgraded my glass on the large main piece. He has won me over and I will definitely return for all framing. I just read a 1 star review from a skeptic. He must have gone in with a chip on his shoulder or he is a prince that expected some thousand dollar service which one may go elsewhere and pay through the nose for. My review wasn't bought by anything but their competence, good ol fashion customer service, and good value. There wasn't anything cheap about it. It all started with an initial consultation with Maori. I had a concept in mind but needed confirmation from an expert executer. I wanted a frame "rugged" and textured to contrast the print. On the sixth try, we found my dream frame in the picture. She suggested "shadow box" concept to float the print and preserve its Integrity of "flying dragon". At that point, I was overwhelmed by the excitement and decided to take a pause and let the concept to sit with me for a few days. On my second visit, I met Maori's brother and got his blessing on the frame I selected and picked out a blueish grey but shiny (bold move) linen matting to further compliment the print. I've gotten a half-dozen pieces framed at ROOQ and won't go anywhere else. They never try to upsell you and they're amazing at explaining your options and figuring out your vibe. For instance, I recently brought in two watercolor sketches by the cartoonist Lynda Barry that I'd purchased as a Covid fundraiser on Etsy. The paper was very thin and a bit wrinkled from the dried water; Nelow explained how to minimize the look of the shrivel-y bits and how to make the paper look less flimsy. She worked with me to choose an affordable frame that didn't detract from the sketches, and then called when my original frame choice was delayed (thanks, supply chain!) and helped me pick out a similar one. The pieces were slightly different sizes, so she ascertained whether I wanted them matted and framed to be the same size or not. (Not.) I also brought in a bright, quirky, kinda-psychedelic painting and she suggested a funny, ornate, over-the-top pinky-lavender frame that looked amazing with it. She really knows her stuff! My college-student daughter also brought in a band poster to be framed as a gift for her bf and she was self-conscious about how little she wanted to spend, but Nelow was so sweet to her and did it really cheaply.) read more

Rooq has done it again! I trusted them with my very fragile laser cut ketubah (marriage contract) based on amazing work they'd done framing other pieces for me and my husband. There was some damage to the edges of the ketubah when I brought it in and they said they'd help hide it. They did such a fantastic job with it. It is shadowboxed so there is slight space between the ketubah and fabric I wanted it mounted on, playing with a small shadow. It's absolutely stunning. I'm so happy with it and they were clearly proud of it too when I went in to pick it up. People who take pride in their work are people you want to work with. The is one of those reviews where you feel like you can say enough bad things, so I'm going to keep it to the facts. There are three of them. 1) The reviews for this business are extremely suspicious. The current DUKE has zero reviews, friends, or pictures. 19 of their 38 reviewers have 3 reviews or less. I cannot fathom that so many people joined Yelp to give them a five star review, and then stopped Yelping. This is extremely relevant because I went to them based on their Yelp reviews. 2) The service was horrible. They were very rough unpacking the pieces we brought them. One was a poster we bought online, and the other was a sketch from a know contemporary artist. They took the sketch out and tossed it to the side like it was a piece of garbage. I should have left then. Unsurprisingly, when we received it framed it was wrinkled. 3) You are better off going to get a frame from Ikea. It seems like their signature style is a cheap white painted frame with black matting. It looks very tacky. They don't even have museum glass. read more

I'm going to have to punk Aaron L's 1 star review. (BTW Aaron, they DO have museum glass.) My experience with Jawed and his team has been nothing short of stellar. Jawed helped me craft the perfect solution for one of my trickiest images, and it needed to be shipped to a show in under 1 week. Additionally, the framing needed not just to "frame" the artwork, but had to compound the piece's concept of constricted space--and the art was odd sized at 6" x 26". Jawed's aesthetic sensibilities were totally on-point, the solutions he suggested were downright ingenious. He provided options with a range of price points--all affordable. I picked a floating mount and shadow box which made my artwork look better and more conceptually grounded than I could have imagined if left to my own devices. On top of that, the framing was executed beautifully, and he and his staff are kind and patient. Additionally, Jawed has an old-school sensibility and pride in the service he provides. Here's an example... When I got my artwork back from my curator, it had been nicked in shipping. I took the piece back to Jawed and asked what could be done. He gave me multiple options and I chose to have the nick patched. When I called to check in on pricing he mentioned there would be no charge for the repair. WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE? I've had some prints rolled up in a tube for years that i've been meaning to get framed. After just moving to NYC, I figured I'd finally get them done so people's attention will be drawn to the art rather than the modest size of my new apartment. Yelp, once again delivered the goods. Well Jawed did the actual framing but without Yelp I wouldn't have found this awesome place. (interestingly, I was swayed by Sarah R's review who was in the store when I visited. I'm not sure if that is Jawed's strategy - to get attractive women to write reviews and then have them inhabit the store to add credibility. Either way, nice work mate). Jawed talked me through a bunch of options I had to frame my prints. He proved very knowledgable and wasn't at all pushy. Rooq also has a really relaxed space. Great experience and product. We bought a laser cut paper ketubah. After getting married, we brought it to a frame store in hoboken. They suggested matting it against different color backgrounds. After hearing the price, I deeply regretted buying this expensive ketubah. My wife calmed me and we brought it home to think it over. I looked for reviews for other framing stores and read these glowing reviews. We were greeted warmly and Jawed admired our ketubah. He was excited to tell us his ideas for framing. He suggested mounting it with glass on both sides so light would shine through the delicate design. It was clear that they had worked with many ketubahs and knew how to properly frame and preserve it. When we heard the price, it was significantly better the price in hoboken. Then he gave us a further discount for checking in on Yelp. I felt great leaving the store. Within maybe 10 days, it was done and beautiful. I would recommend this store to anyone. read more

If you're looking for exceptional quality then ROOQ is the place to come for framing your pieces! I went in (completely clueless) with 3 very fragile magazines from the 1930s and Jawed couldn't have been more helpful. All of his recommendations were very tasteful, he knew exactly what would complement the coloring and style of the magazines and was very conscious that these pieces are valuable and need protecting. I did quite a lot of research on a number of framing stores and ROOQ was by far the best (I can't emphasize that anymore), Jawed knows what he's talking about and more importantly he cares about making your pieces look their best.
