I got some photos framed here and the owner was so sweet and professional. He helped me pick out the frame color and photo design, which was super helpful. I had wanted the photos to be evenly distributed and he helped me shape the design and cut the photos to achieve that. The end result was sheer perfection! I also mentioned it was a gift for a birthday and, despite my procrastination in bringing the order to the shop, he worked really hard to get it ready in time (and succeeded!!!). I am excited to get other things frames here. Great selection of frames and glass too! Thanks!! read more

Superb framing. A+ craftsmanship! Mahub worked his magic on a very old 36x36 print that had been mounted to foam board over a decade ago. The print was weathered, sentimental, and irreplaceable, as the artist had passed away, so this piece needed a lot of care. Mahub carefully repositioned, reframed, and remounted it with a beautiful matte-finish mat, and literally ironed out the years of wear with a machine to make it look as good as new! I am so pleased. After living in this neighborhood for 15 years, there is no other framer I would trust with anything from the simplest to the most complex requests. Truly superb work! Thank you, Mahub. I recommend you to everyone! read more

I highly recommend Excel Art & Framing!! Mahbub was incredibly helpful in working with me to reframe a 40 year old watercolor. I knew I needed museum glass so I wouldn't have reflections. But he explained why it needed a new frame and explained options for shadow mounting or not, plus frame pricing options. On top of all of this, he rush ordered the frame for me so that this could be done before I have guests coming in! I wouldn't go anywhere else for my framing needs. Mahbub and his shop are the best!! read more

Excel Fine Art Creative Custom Framing - Framing Near Me - New York, New York

This is my favorite frame shop in the city. I've been to over ten shops trying to get the perfect framing job done, but each place always has an issue, whether it's overcutting a mat, leaving dust or hair particles inside the glass, scratching a frame, cutting the mat too large, or something else. With other frame shops, there's always an attention to detail problem, but here this guy nails it! I can always walk in and know I'll have something back within a week or two max, whereas other frame shops have made me wait 8-12 weeks. Not only is the quality better, but the timeframe is shorter and the prices are more reasonable. If you need a framer with attention to detail and someone who can make judgment calls for you where you're not sure what to do, this is your guy. I've been back several times and the quality has remained consistently stellar. read more

I strongly recommend this shop for your framing needs! I was very particular about what I had in mind for my handmade art piece; I wanted it to be floating on a linen-like fabric background with a simple neutral gold-ish / silver frame. The shop owner let me spend as much time as I needed viewing different combinations myself. Turned out nicely within about a week or so. Thank you! read more

Excellent service. The gentleman in charge was so accommodating even though it had been two months since he had framed my painting. I had some issues with the backing and he replaced it for me free of charge. I really appreciated it he was so kind and my frame looks amazing in my living room! read more

They did an unbelievable job with a very difficult canvas and it turned out fantastically. Highly recommend.

Another excellent job done - every time I need framing done, I turn to Excel and everything is done so well. The process is great with the time taken to find the right layout and frame and the price is reasonable and the quality is amazing. Thank you so much! read more

The owner Mahbub is lovely and his craftsmanship is excellent. We have had multiple wooden frames finished to various paintings and academic certificates. Plenty of options, colors, styles available for the frames, glass and background. read more

I had the most wonderful experience at Excel! They helped me with a big framing project for my apartment. The team gave helpful advice, and was extremely fair on price. I even wanted to change something after it was done and they corrected it for me without question / additional charge. My custom frames turned out beautifully and elevated the look of my apartment. I couldn't recommend Excel more! Thank you!! read more

Very disappointed due to the poor handling of the picture framed. We had a one-of-a-kind picture that had my son's newborn footprints, as well as the signature of the doctor who delivered him. This was in pristine condition for years until after the framing, I saw after picking up that the footprint was faded out, with heavy smudging on the signature. Needless to say, I was devastated by the result. When I first brought this up, the person I spoke to (seemed like the manager, who also framed it) denied fault until they brought up how they generally treat pictures. Apparently they use a brush first to dust it off prior to overlaying the glass, and this process may have likely caused the streaking of the signature as well as the fading of the footprint. The framer himself eventually admits that this was likely the cause. Supposedly they even have a process to treat other types of pictures delicately, like charcoal art, but their attitude didn't decide to treat ours with equal care or respect. After hearing this, and how it was possible to have avoided this entire mess for a picture that I consider priceless, I personally feel like I have no choice but to let others know of the work quality they place into their framing process. Right now, I have to find a way to fix these mistakes, likely costing much more than the price to frame it. read more

Update: Mahbub just framed 2 more prints for me. The frame & mat selections are stunning and the price was appropriate. I felt comfortable with the first frame he did for me. Now with the latest job I completely trust Mahbub recommendations. --------------------------- I brought a print in to be framed and was given outstanding service. The perfect color frame and mat were matched to the print to make it really pop visually. I truly recommend this shop to make your art pieces look great. read more

An above-par framing experience. The salesperson (framer?) was knowledgeable and helped me select appropriate colors and materials for my frames. They offer UV protective glass and TONS of matting and framing options. Like any framing store though, it's not cheap. I had two certificates and one poster framed, had a 26% off coupon and the total was still over $300. I always have trouble swallowing the $100+ frame for the $20 poster, but it makes the poster a real piece of art... so I deal with it. My pieces were framed within a week and they called me when I could pick up. He unwrapped and showed me everything before I took it home. The framing was nicely done - no dust bunnies under the frames, everything looks level, etc. (I found the coupon via Google maps... click on the business name, then the heading "coupons") read more

I had two pieces of artwork to frame. They did a superb job. I wasńt sure what I wanted for the frames. The owner was so accommodating giving me suggestions and showing me frames I would not have thought on my own. The workmanship is excellent and pricing is more than fair. He never tried pushing a more expensive frame. If you need some framing done, I would highly recommend Excel. It really is a plus to work with such a nice person. read more

Did an excellent job framing three pieces of art for us: two very large photographs and a painting. He helped us pick out a great frame from their many selections, consulted the framing guidance from the photographer, and ensured everything came out perfect. When consulting on frame options, he was very careful with the art to ensure it stayed in perfect condition. When we went to pick it up, he helped us load the large frames in an SUV UberXL so it would be safe for the few blocks home. It took just over a week from when we placed the order. Overall, extremely happy! Would go back if we had any other framing needs! read more

Excel Framers are highly professional, precise, and affordable for framing in NYC. We have 2 frames in our office done by them that we absolutely love. We called after being recommended by an artist that uses them for framing. They were very helpful and even came to pick up and drop off the frame after it was finished, at no extra cost. They did an excellent job and we would highly recommend them for any framing needs. Thank you!!! read more

Excellent neighborhood frameshop. We've had fine art, editioned prints, posters and photographs framed here and Mahbub is very easy to work with and extremely patient while we make decisions. The turnaround time is surprisingly fast. The shop has a variety of styles and we often go for fun colors/ crazy contemporary arrangements with our eclectic collection and Mahbub handles all of this with ease. As a former framer myself, and artist, quality is key but the reasonable pricing allows us to keep coming back. read more

I have worked with Excel for over 15 years. During that time, Mahbub, the owner, has framed over 20 paintings, prints, and photographs for me. Mahbub is super nice and the consummate professional. All of his work is of the highest quality, and he always gives great advice on what kinds of frames, glass, etc. to use. I trust his judgment, and I never feel as if he is trying to push me towards the highest-priced option. Highly recommend! read more

Dropped off 8 pictures to be framed - paid in full before I left. Went to pick them up - I handed the salesman my receipt. He brought out 2 very heavy packages (4 frames per package) - wrapped in brown paper and placed them on the floor. I asked if I could see the completed work - he said very rudely "you want to see them also?" I asked him what he meant by "also". He said "the salesman you worked with mis-priced this job". I asked him if he was angry at me / if I was to blame for this (I actually thought it was over priced)? - he did not respond. He unwrapped one package and showed me the frames - I thanked him and asked if he had a bag I could put the packages in - he of course said no. Lesson learned - find another framing store who appreciates your business. read more

Excel went above and beyond. They worked with my tight timeline and did a beautiful job. My new go-to in the neighborhood. Thank you Excel!

Wonderful friendly. Excellent quality products. Was easy and done quickly with fair prices.

Very nice, fast and helpful staff! The owner was willing to honor my coupon on 2 different occasions.

AMAZING. I recently went in to frame a portion of a hiking map. The owner spent time helping me decide what portion of the map to frame (which he cut for me!), what size matte to border it with, and which frame and glass would suit it best. He then completed the job two days early! Before I took the framed map home, we reviewed it together and he made thoughtful comments about how nicely the decisions turned out. His service is so worth the money, and I've heard the prices are some of the best folks have seen. I won't go anywhere else now! read more

Very professional service. I placed an order with them for 3 of my prints to be custom matted and framed together. He took time helping me pick out everything, offering suggestions. I've gotten about 25 pieces of art framed here for my studio. Every single one was done with the utmost care and professionalism and the framer is extremely warm and helpful. He went above and beyond on 2 very large pieces of mine that had glue all over the back from a previous hanging method. They clearly care about art and their customers. As a great addition, they are also fairly fast and always give a friendly phone call as soon as the job is done. So happy to have a great place in the neighborhood. read more
