Yet another amazing experience at 567 Framing! I asked for their help with creating a photo collage (compilation) with some digital photos for a friend's wedding gift. Let's be honest - Framing is not a cheap service anywhere. On 3 separate occasions I had prints framed from 567 framing. I researched quotes from a bunch of framers and every time 567 was the most competitive. Other framers I went to told me one quote one day and then it magically went up hundreds of dollars the next day. On my most recent visit, Alina was super helpful and I trusted the advice she gave me for my prints. The quality is great and I am so happy with my new art. They had done a good job for me on 2 simple jobs for me. So I brought an expensive photo (limited, signed) to them. I should have turned around when I walked in, and the guy in the back was eating his take-out food on top of the workspace. I had to tell him to take it away. Stupidly, I went forward with the job. Well, they didn't put enough space between the glass and the print, so the print began to adhere to the glass - damaging it. I went to a place that specializes in restoring photos. When they unmounted it, they found also that the mounting board behind the frame was also a little small, so one edge curled. and behind the matte. they found crumbs of food. So I not only had to pay A LOT of money to restore the photo (and to have it remounted), but the hundreds and hundreds I paid to these people was wasted. Lesson learned. read more

I used them for a large print years ago, but unfortunately the glass that was used started showing signs of ghosting. They were more than happy to replace the glass for me, no questions asked. Found 567 framing on Yelp and though there were some negatives, decided the positives outweighed them. Glad I decided to proceed! Took my daughters two diplomas from University and grad school there for classic framing. She is creative so did not want a traditional black frame and I found a lovely brushed silver frame that was still elegant but a bit unique. Used it for both and they look fantastic. They did a beautiful job with the matting, job was completed as promised within two weeks and price was decent. Anyway I was very pleased and will return for more framing down the road! read more

I too will have a problem expressing both my gratitude and the quality of work provided to me by 567 Framing. My story begins the night of Sunday, March 9, 2014. An electrical fire began unbeknownst to my family and me until it was out of control and fast consuming all of our material possessions. By the time the fire department arrived and put the fire out, we had lost virtually everything we own. One of the notable exceptions was a small pillow my nine year old daughter had sewn for my wife for Mother's Day 2013. One of its corners were burned and soot covered it, including the "M" stitched into its middle. After reading the previous reviews on Yelp and elsewhere, I compared a shortlist of three framers in NYC and ultimately decided on 567 Framing. A quick call to Mavis at their 14th St store and I had no doubt I had chosen the right place. Once at the store after work, both Mavis and Jack Hu spent as much time as was necessary until I had my "Ah-Ha" moment -- that instance when your heart sings and you know for sure you have hit the right combination of frame, matte and glass. The challenge with what I wanted was the fact to accommodate even a small pillow, a custom frame box had to be created. Undaunted by the complexity at hand, Mavis and Jack figured out a way to combine 5 frames, matte and museum glass into a frame of extraordinary character and sublime brilliance. My daughters and I presented it to my wife on her birthday this past weekend and it was received with tears and trembling. It a family heirloom that will always remind us of the indestructibility of Love. I am convinced that no better job could've been accomplished anywhere else. Period. So far I've gone to Spectrum framing twice and both times I've been pleased with the work they produced. I went in Wednesday with two 24x36" prints and had it rush serviced ($15 per print). They needed an extra hour past the time they said they would have it but it was no real issue. For those looking for prices. Both of my prints were around $145 per print (they were fairly large). Very nice, respectful people--in person--but I feel, ultimately either dishonest or oblivious overall. Here's the overview: Took a 600 something piece of artwork (one paper) to them to frame. I ordered the piece direct from the artist; she mailed it in a tube and I only took it out once to inspect upon receipt. I promptly put it back in the tube with the supervision of an art curator friend and--after researching framing places--took my piece here. During the consult--to pick the mounting materials etc, the piece was laid out flat on a table--NO creases or marks were on it. Upon receipt back, there was a significant crease in the right hand corner. Pictures attached... Any honest framer or business would have called me if they hadn't done this so to protect themselves upfront; I already knew it wasn't creased before I took it to them; but their not calling me about it--since they hoped I wouldn't notice--implies that they were aware the crease happened on their end since again--any framer with any pride/professionalism wouldn't want to risk a customer's dissatisfaction over a flaw in the artwork that wasn't their doing. All in all, for 260 dollars I feel robbed. My art work was forever damaged and yet I had to pay for it since the girl rushed me out at checkout/pick up basically bullying me into saying I liked it instead of allowing me to inspect it. I noticed it instantly; it's pretty obvious and glaring. The flare from my phone pictures doesn't capture the full impact--but it relays a sense of the damage done. For similar pricing, go elsewhere--this place seems dubious, dishonest and insensitive. read more

It pains me to shell out $85 to frame a $25 print. But when the frame makes the antique print look like a $200 piece of art...then really, I made money. Walking in off the street, I had neither an appointment nor a clue what I was doing. After a few long pauses and awkward silences, the frame lady finally stepped in and made some excellent suggestions. In less than 10 minutes I had ordered and paid for a gorgeous custom-made frame that would be ready in 7-10 days. I also ran into another Yelper who had found the store via their Yelp reviews...small world! The only weird thing was that they never called to let me know that my frame was ready. After ten days had passed I figured I'd check on it and they just answered that yes, it was there waiting for me. Oh well, not a big deal. Overall, working with 567 Framing was a super smooth process that delivered high quality results...another happy customer served! read more

I don't write many reviews online but in this case I think the company deserves it. I came to them with a request to have almost two dozen photographs framed for a gallery show that came up on short notice. They offered the best price of several gallery-quality framing stores I checked out (it included a first time customer discount, which some others were offering too) and offered the fastest turnaround time. Quite honestly, I was skeptical, as it sounded a little too good to be true. But I could not afford to pass up the savings, and other framing shops were not even sure they could commit to turning it around in less than 3 weeks. In fact, they turned the job around in time in spite of delays that were my own fault. The opening of the show on schedule depended entirely on them, and they did not disappoint. As for the results, people with more experience than me in the art and photography business thought their work was very professional; there has not been a single issue with any of the framing jobs, and as I write this, they are hanging in an upstate New York gallery in a stunning exhibit of mid-20th century black and white photography. Apart from the fact that 567 pulled it off and did a great job, they were very helpful with the choices of frames, glass and borders. Wendee, their salesperson at the Manhattan store, has good judgment and helped make the final product impressive. In no case did I feel like they were pressing me to make more costly choices, and in fact they kept to their initial price offer even after we made some choices that could have been out of the scope of the offer. The staff there was also very accommodating with my numerous special needs, from documenting to parking (it's now officially commercial parking only in front of the store). So, bottom line, I would use them again - in fact, I will be headed back there soon with some other work - and recommend them without hesitation. My only caution to others regarding the Manhattan store, aside from the parking issue, is to be aware that the actual framing is done in their Brooklyn factory, so stay apprised of the delivery and dropoff schedule between stores. Be that as it may, after framing a few pictures as a proof of concept, they delivered two more batches exactly when they said they would, and one Wednesday afternoon I stopped in front of the store, picked up the remaining 19 framed pictures (with the very cordial assistance of Jack, the owner) and drove them up to the gallery to hang. The best price, great service, very professional work, and very nice people - a pretty rare combination, in my experience. read more

So I have had a canvas painting which I bought in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic for about a year now rolled up hiding in the corner. The canvas originally was stretched but unfortunately the country does allow you to take the wood parts out of the country. So I decided upon this place after reading Yelp reviews and also primarily based on proximity to my work area. I've never had a painting stretched so in my head I estimated the cost of my painting costing somewhere around $20 to $30. Well that is how much I wanted to cost. So I go in and tell the guy assisting me that I would like to have my painting stretched, He takes me to the back room, unrolled my painting and placed small bean bag holders on all four corners to keep the painting in place. He measures my painting. It measures 31 by 38 inches. He writes down the measurements then picks up his calculator and flips it over. On the back of the calculator there is a paper taped to it. On this paper is a print out of measurement sizes and its cost next to it. He looks for my measurement size and he says my measurement s fall in this range, then tells me the cost will be $75. I blinked. $75 is that right? I looked at my painting then back at the paper taped to the back of the calculator. And I told him that's way too much. I didn't think it would cost that much. I realized the painting is pretty big then what I remembered. I had it rolled up for a year, but I didn't think it would cost so much. Its was way more than the cost of the painting itself. I told him no thank you, then he proceeded to ask me how much I wanted to pay. Oh I see we gonna play this game. I told him $20. He was like of course it cant be $20. I told him well I paid $40 for this painting I don't want to pay more than the cost of the painting. He' was like how bout $50. I really didn't want to pay $50 I wanted to get out with my painting and shop for better deals, but I was here and I wanted my painting stretched. So we agreed on $50. He then told me the painting will be ready 10 to 15 days. I was like woah, that's way to long. I told him I wanted it by the weekend but I cant pick it up on a Friday. It was a Monday. He was like fine OK we have it ready for you by Thursday. He marked my receipt as a rush item. I put down a $20 deposit. My painting was ready for me on Thursday. It was nicely stretched. The painting was covered with plastic wrap and cardboard corner covers for transport protection. I paid my balanced and thanked him. Will I come back here again? Probably not without shopping around for other price quotes. They did a good job with the painting, but as far as the absurd original pricing . I don't trust them. read more

Am I on another planet? This place sucks. First off inside the store is not clean enough to lay out a piece of work. Secondly, the mat samples they were showing me looked like a truck ran over them. How can I tell what it is going to look like with it being so dirty? Thirdly, when I was shown a sample of how the frame would look put together (it was a framed poster hanging in their store) the seams of the frames didn't look glued together completely which made me nervous since I was about to drop $600. They assured me they would be glued together better than the sample. Oh really? I asked about their guarantee and they said once I left the store with it that was it. So if the seams got loose after a day I am screwed? ha! The girls didn't seem friendly enough either. I found them to be very uninterested in making the customer happy. Why go to this place? Go to L&O Framing in Tribeca instead. Same price, better service, better quality. read more

I was in a pretty terrible mood when I walked in the door. I had just walked to their old location, 4 AVENUES AWAY, on one of the coldest and windiest days...I was not happy. Not like it's the owner's fault. Yelp is actually to blame - no update on change of address! But I was very warmly welcomed when I came in the door. A very eager-to-help-me man asked how I was and said how it was so good to see me again, even though this was my first visit. (I've been told I have look-a-likes running around Manhattan. Damn bitches stealing my style...) I came in to frame a diploma and already had other frame stores' prices in mind just in case this turned out to be too much for my budget. Having called Spectrum Framing earlier, they said they were not able to give me a quote over the phone, but that they would be happy to in person. He went right to work and starting pulling down frames from the wall. Although he wasn't very helpful artistically (he told me everything looked great!) he was more than willing to pull more frames down when I wasn't satisfied with the first few. A mat to match the color I had brought in was also easy to find in his color book. After getting everything together, he said the total was $76 without tax. That includes: - frame and glass for a 13" by 11" Diploma - 1.5" mat all around (I think the price increases per 1/4 inch you have) After getting quotes from the other frame stores I was expecting to pay AT THE VERY LEAST over $100. I was very happy to hear that he would be charging me $25 less than one competitor and $100 less than another!! Huge difference in price. ***[10 days later...]*** I GOT MY FRAME BACK! And they did a fantastic job! I'm very happy with how the diploma came out. Exactly what I asked for and without any fingerprints or smudges inside or outside of the glass. And the guy (the same guy from when I first dropped it off) working there was so friendly and helpful, and again very glad to see me. I felt so welcome there...and it's only a frame shop! I would HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY!!! RECOMMEND coming here. I will definitely be back the next time I need something framed! read more

If you talk to me long enough (10 minutes, really), you'll learn that I love photography. Sometimes, I even get lucky enough to put some of it on display. When I got the opportunity to showcase some of my work recently, I decided that I'd get some high quality prints, and then get them custom framed. After some searching, I stopped in at 567 Framing and told them what I needed. It was really simple to choose a style of frame I wanted, as well as the glass options, because they were all immediately visible in the shop. I went with a plain black wooden frame, 2 inch white mats, and non-glare plexiglass. I had fourteen 12x18" prints to be framed, and I was told the work would be ready in 2 weeks. They finished ahead of schedule, and when I came down to get my pieces, they looked fantastic. Not only that, but they even compensated for some information I failed to give them. See, a couple of the photos I had were very geometric in nature, so it wouldn't be easy to know which side was up. They simply put two wires on the back of the frame, so they could be hung either side up (in landscape orientation). I appreciate that extra effort just to avoid confusion. If I ever had something important to frame, I'd be sure to come back here; the service was quick, friendly, and of high quality. read more

In my opinion they offer a great number of unique but very classy frames. I've gotten a watercolor on paper, an oil on paper, a giclee print, a poster and a print on fabric done by them, and I love them all -- and they're in front of me all the time, cause I live in a studio apt. I'm not too sure how their prices stack up to others. I went there on the strength of other comments here on Yelp and have had a great experience so haven't considered anywhere else.
