I had a framed artwork from a different framing store that was supposed to be a gift. But the day it was supposed to be presented I noticed the frame had a small dent on it which you can't unsee once you notice it. I spent 2h running around NYC looking for a framing store that would be able to express reframe it for me within a day and Shadin not only took up the challenge but did an amazing job reframing it. I do see a couple 1star review below and I find it grossly unfair. People complain about the price but what they don't understand is how expensive real museum quality framing materials are and quality costs money. It might look the same as that cheaper frame in another store, but what you don't see is that it's most likely not acid free and not archival meaning as time goes by that cheaper mat and backing is gonna start impacting the quality of your beloved art/photos and turn it yellow. In an area where "art galleries" tend to be a dime a dozen, Galleria's selection of paintings is a pleasant change from the crap I've seen elsewhere. I brought in two paintings purchased at a PA art show for framing, and Shadin (and I believe John) were more than helpful in walking me through the different options. I wanted something simple and contemporary anyway, which just so happened to be less expensive than the more elaborate frames. If you have larger paintings, you'll get more bang for your buck, as the majority of the cost you'll pay is for the labor/mitre cuts, not necessarily for the materials. read more

Don't be fooled by the positive reviews. This place is AWFUL. As a New Yorker, I am used to "pushy", but this place takes it to an entirely new level. The owner and employees exude dishonesty from the moment you walk through the door and consistently make you feel like they're doing you a huge favor. I emailed Shadin to inquire about a frame for my wedding picture. He told me that the price for what I wanted started at $125. When I showed up at the store, and told him again what I wanted, "suddenly" frames started at $150. I reminded him that in his email he said the prices started at $125, and he begrudgingly pulled him cheaper model from the wall. If this isn't even a model that you SHOW to customer, then why would you list that as your starting price? It definitely seemed like a money-making strategy. Also, my husband and I walked into the store knowing exactly what we wanted. Nevertheless, Shadin and three other employees gathered around and repeatedly voiced their opinions. "It's your wedding picture" "Don't you want a nicer frame" "This isn't a sufficient frame for a WEDDING photo". And ultimately, when we stuck by our choice, the owner seemed annoyed that he couldn't manipulate us into spending even more money. When given the option of a deposit or paying in full, we asked what our recourse was if we were unsatisfied with the work. Shadin replied that it simply "wouldn't happen". Sorry buddy, we don't know you. The CORRECT response would've been "As the business owner, I will do whatever I need to make sure this product is to your liking". Trying to intimidate us by letting us know how many years you've been in business is tacky. After leaving with a bad feeling, we decided to wait and see what happened with our frame. We were told it would be ready Wednesday, and that he would call if it were ready earlier. He never called. On Thursday evening at 7:40pm, I called the store to let him know that I was coming over and to make sure that he would still be open when I arrived (since I know the store closes at 8pm). He assured me that he'd stay open for me, yet when I arrived at 7:50, the store was completely closed up. The next day, when I heard back from Shadin, he informed me that he emergency arose immediately after our phone call and he had to leave. Of course, I understand that emergencies happen. Yet, when I mentioned to Shadin that he could've left a note or called and let me know this information, his response was "well, at least your frame turned out nicely". My husband and I went in to get our frame this afternoon, and indeed he provided us with what we had agreed upon. Of course, no apology. No effort to amend the mishap. And no mention of what had happened the night before. As we walked out the door, Shadin yelled, "I left right before you got here!". As if a passing yell across the room, as a customer is LEAVING is a way to confront a frustrated client. For someone in the business for 15 years, you'd think he'd know a thing or two about professionalism. Ultimately, the frame was fine and looks nice. But the headache, attitude and poor professionalism are not worth it. It is a shame, because we were hoping to find a place to regularly frame our photos and artwork, however, I can assure you, we will never be back here and would urge others to go elsewhere. read more

I came here to get my baseball jersey framed since it's one of the very few places in NYC that offers this service and I regret it. Shadin will sell you a lie that they offer professional service and quality jersey framing for less which is a complete utter lie. He doesn't know how to properly frame a baseball jersey to the point he framed it like a NFL jersey. The patch was vertical, the sleeves faced inwards and there was creases on the jersey. After you pay he will ask you to send in pictures of your personal collection (if you have one) to use for reference when he's working on positioning the jersey, "Professional". Why you need reference pictures if you're a professional with 20+ years experience with this? A three cardboard background jersey framing with Shadin is $760 which is ridiculous and a scam. This same style of framing is almost 3 times cheaper with CollectableXChange (previously Steiner Sports) and Fanatics.com. Both companies basic one cardboard jersey framing goes for $200 before tax and Shadin wants over $400+ after tax for the same exact style. My bank had full knowledge of the situation before I went back to his store. I won't discuss what was told to me from my bank but I made sure I had my bases covered when I went to get my jersey back without the frame and a full refund. He will constantly cut me off while speaking which was obnoxious. While there he keep selling a lie on his experience with framing jerseys. After 19 mins, I reluctantly agreed to 50/50 split in refund. I understand Covid-19 is doing harm to local businesses and everyone still wants income to stay open. But you shouldn't overcharge customers like that just to keep your business going. This is the only reason why I denied my bank to get my other half of the refund, soley not to disrupt his business. Kinda regretting it now because I'm paying $215 credit card bill for literally nothing. I'm just trying to look at it as a large donation to his store at this point. I just mailed out this same jersey to CollectableXChange which used to be Steiner Sports (IYKYK) and they're charging me $280 after tax for the same 3 cardboard jersey framing where Shadin tried to charge me $760 after tax. ***STAY AWAY*** if you want to frame your valuable sports jerseys and take it to the professionals where it will be done by knowledgeable people for less. Jersey framing price shouldn't come nowhere close to the price of the actual jersey (jersey, signature and authentication) that you're trying to frame, period. read more

I was looking for a local frame shop to fix a picture that broke while we moved, another picture that needed a new wire on the back, and two diplomas. Galleria on Third was extremely friendly, communicated very well, and did an excellent job. It was easy to make an appointment and Shadin knew exactly what to do. We just went to pick up the frames and initially were told (by accident) that only the diplomas were ready. Within several minutes of us leaving, I got a voicemail that the other two frames were also ready, and they were going to be delivered to our apartment within the next 30-60 minutes. My experience getting two basketball jersey's framed was somewhat disappointing...Was looking forward to getting 2 specific basketball jersey's framed , went looking online and saw how the galleria on third got such high praise for the quality of work done , when going into the store , the work there is amazing and quality of the framing and items was beautiful visuals. But unfortunately for my two items it wasn't great quality... on both framed jersey's which cost $500 all together the jersey's were both not evenly put on the frames, both jersey's aren't pinned on the frame boards evenly certain areas are loose causing a wrinkle look toward the middle to end of the jersey's. The owner was a real nice respectful gentleman, he ensure me somewhat bragging honesty ...I'll be amazed with the framing and quality of work, but unfortunately in my situation that wasn't the case.I made the mistake paying in full due to the confidence of previous reviews and work I saw on the website. We went to Galleria after reading some decent reviews. When we went there, we found him very pushy in terms of the frame we should select. We wanted an excellent job for a few wedding photographs. He said that he has 22 years of experience and that he is doing us a great favor by giving us a significant discount for the quality of frames that we will not get anywhere with that price. We did not have time to venture out, so we ended up paying him $1,600 for 7 mixed-size framed photos. We thought it was a lot, but we were excited to hang those wedding pictures in our apartment. Right after we left the place, he asked us to write a good review for him. A few pictures came out well even though we thought they were overpriced, but Shadin did an abysmal job for the remaining photos. When I called him about the photographs for which he did a poor job, he asked me to bring them back to his place so that he could examine what went wrong. When I asked him that this is not the quality that a customer expects for $1,600, he pushed that I should not bring money to the discussion. At first, he said he would not reimburse me a single penny as everything is a final sale regardless of the quality, but because he understood that he messed up the job, he suggested a refund of $25. I laughed at that, yet infuriated. When I confronted that it was not the right way to talk to a customer, he again spoke about his 22 years of experience and many loyal customers. I had nothing much to say and left the place. After that, I found out that prices at other places are 2/3rd (or less) of the price we paid to Shadin. Here's the conclusion. If there is no problem with the picture - you may go home happy, although the frames may be overpriced. However, if there is a problem with the print or the frame, you may not be welcomed back. I would have given Shadin 3 stars for his job, but I gave him one star because of his unprofessional and rude behavior. read more

They're really nice here, they do an excellent job, and they have fair prices. I had three pieces of artwork framed, and asked the owner for advice on what colors to use, what kind of mat, etc.--he knows his stuff. One piece required a custom frame, and it was priced below what it would have cost online or at most other places. All three pieces were finished before expected, and he called to let me know. When I went to pick them up, they showed each to me first for my approval, then wrapped them securely with a handle for easy carrying. Let me start by saying that I have had multiple encounters with Galleria on Third. This establishment is both an art gallery and a framing shop. What set Galleria on Third apart from others in the neighborhood (or the City for that matter) is that they care about doing a great job, and making your artwork look its best. Of course, doing this may not translate to cheapest. If you want cheap why even bother framing something in the first place? I have known the owner for more than 10 years and has framed many items for me. I also know that he works with big and small orders alike. Let me address some of the issues I have seen in some of the negative reviews 1) Cost of a frame versus framing. If you ask for just the frame, and not what it costs to frame a piece, well those are two different things. Please, be clear what you are asking for, especially when discussing something over the phone. Shadin's mistake was even quoting a price over the phone, he should have just asked the reviewer to come in with the artwork, or given her a price range 2) know what you want and your budget. Let them know what you are thinking and what your budget is. If it is a $10 poster for a dorm room then, real glass may not be what you want. If it is an important piece then museum glass may be what is right, but understandably will cost more 3) Delivery Charges This is NY, everything can be delivered. Just know what it has a price. This is not a Chinese food order, it cannot simply or easily be redone. Therefore, it needs to be handled with care. Trust me, the Galleria On Third is not "milking" you for delivery. Even if you took an Uber or Via to pick it up, that would cost you $10-20 dollars. Don't want to pay a delivery charge, that is fine, just come and get your artwork. What sets Galleria on Third is the quality of the work, Shadin is an artisan, who's goal is to make your artwork look its best. Others will simply sell you a frame and while it may be cheaper, it may also look it. I find Galleria on Third to be very reasonably priced for the high quality of the work. Yes, he can do inexpensive framing work, but his goal is not to race to the bottom with cheap looking work. After all you pay for what you get. I think if your going to hang it, then it should at least look good. If your going to frame it, then Galleria on Third should be your first stop read more

They're especially good with unusual requests (i.e. four matte windows oriented just-so, or protecting against bathroom humidity), but don't underestimate the value in having a professional do the seemingly-simple framing tasks as well. I went in to get a price quote on a canvas stretching + framing and the man at the counter (owner?) was extremely rude and was obviously inflating his prices. He made us feel like we were idiots because we didn't know what a "real" price in NYC was for framing.
