I have had several pieces custom framed at Dryden and both times were wonderful experiences. I mostly worked with Mary Dryden, owner, who is not only knowledgable and very respectful of the pieces I brought in, but she was also very professional and kind. She knew exactly what we needed, offered me a quote before I made a decision and had the piece delivered at no extra cost (I am nearby the store). Support local business and trust Dryden to handle your custom framing needs with quality care and professionalism! Thank you, Dryden! I will continue to recommend their services and strongly suggest using them! read more

I moved out-of-state a two years ago but still bring acquired art back to Mary at Dryden Gallery for framing. Why? They won't just show you frame and matte options until you pick one - they have a definite perspective and they're not afraid to voice it. I respect and need that. read more

I've been relying on Dryden Gallery for more more than 25 years, and continue to be delighted with their work. After Mary Dryden passed, I've been thrilled with Mark's keen eye. There are two Marks at Dryden, and the more behind-the-scenes Mark is equally phenomenal. He was framing a special piece for me re-using a frame that I brought in. To avoid harming the artwork as it had to slide into the frame a certain way (and the frame that I was recycling wasn't er...top notch!...my fault!) he AMAZINGLY had a beautiful, high-quality (rejected by someone else or left in their used stock for some reason) frame on hand that was the same size and used that instead. It has TRANSFORMED my precious piece beyond my wildest dreams. Mark and Mark ROCK! They've left their superior visual "mark" all over my apartment walls!!!! read more

Great staff here. It was sad to hear that their landlord apparently jacked up their rent to an ungodly level (as so many seem to be doing to long time tenants in the past few years) so they'll be moving soon. My husband had been looking at this piece of art in the window for at least a few months that reminded him of me. Seeing the price tag for another work of art near it, we feared how much it would cost. Nevertheless, we went in & asked. Finding the price on this to be reasonable & it being something only a redhead or someone having an intimate relationship with one could appreciate, we decided to buy it. It's now hanging in our house as our first official piece of artwork. We may be returning to see how they measure up with framing considering we have some things that need it. read more

These guys rule! So generous w their time and so skillful. He knew the exact dimensions of my piece by eye. Measured and he was correct!

I came in here recently to get a print framed. I was looking for a very basic and inexpensive frame-- didn't realize that Dryden Gallery & Framing is more geared towards museum-quality work that would look stunning but was out of my price range for this project. I explained that to the man working. Instead of just moving onto the next customer, he STILL helped me figure out exactly what I needed and even recommended a few nearby businesses that were more suited to what I was looking for. He literally has a printed sheet ready to go with other stores and their contact info, which he gave me. I was honestly taken aback by how kind and helpful he was. Although I didn't end up being a customer, I was treated like one. For that reason, I recommend this place. read more

I was fortunate enough to discover this gem of a frame shop in Greenwich Village. My framing needs were professionally, cheerfully and expeditiously met by the shop's manager Mark. I can not say enough good things about Dryden and plan on not only using the for all of my future framing needs (which, as a collector, will undoubtedly arise), but also plan on referring others to this fine establishment. read more

Just wanted to say what beautiful work this place does and how kind the people are there. I had a poster reframed and they kept it for me graciously for the longest time. When I finally picked it up, the lovely woman made a great and easy carryall for the piece which was rather large. Really wonderful place! Highly recommend! read more

An often underappreciated aspect of artwork, from ordinary posters to original paintings by well-known artists, is the framing. The selection of frames and matting is an art unto itself (not to mention the craftsmanship required for the actual framing process), and Dryden Gallery does an outstanding job of helping select the proper setting for whatever you bring in. I've been going there for (at least) 5 years and all their work has been terrific and has brought out the best in everything from posters, to paintings by unknown artists to an Andy Warhol I recently brought in. read more

I have used Dryden Gallery for many framing projects and have always been pleased with the results! Mary who owns Dryden is very knowledgable and is excellent with frame choices and ideas. I never think of going anywhere else from the simplest projects to things that require a bit more design detail. Thanks for the excellent quality and Service. Cindy Chaplin read more

This is the best place to get framing in the city. They always try to provide an insightful perspective in recommending a frame, are considerate in terms of price range (although the frames on average are definitely high end), and show real creativity/taste. read more

Excellent selection and great aesthetic advice. Everything I've had framed here has come out beautifully.

My local frame store shut down, so I came here on the recommendation of a friend. I could not be happier to have a new go-to! Mark and Mary were extremely helpful. They listened to what I was looking for and had in mind for my custom layout. They considered the context of the pieces and where the frame would be along my other wall art. The prices are reasonable as well, and they completed exactly when they said they would. You will not be disappointed! read more

Always great customer service and great quality. Dryden Framing is run by a lovely husband and wife couple. Madame usually mans the front, and Monsieur is the framer. They're the sweetest couple, and they clearly love what they do. I know that when I have something special to frame, that I can take it to Dryden and they'll do a great job and I will love how it looks in my home. read more

Great gallery! They do framing and have wonderful artwork. Sad that they'll be moving soon...I hope they find a good location.

I've been going to Dryden for over 30 years. They never disappoint. I no longer live anywhere near their shop but they are still my go-to destination for framing. Over the years I've had many posters framed there and they always come up with a great suggestion. They've even put antique-type frames on some of my post-modern posters and they look fantastic. Never would've occurred to me but they could see it working. I'm still smiling at my Dryden frames years later. They're a class act all the way...they really give old-world service. Their selection is the best I've come across. They have so many beautiful choices...from more antique-looking to modern. They don't do "tacky." I've wandered into other custom-framing shops to take a look but my heart belongs to Dryden...I'll never stray! I hadn't even realized they'd moved and I got a shock last week when I went to the old location with a poster to frame. It was like someone had moved my water dish. Luckily, I found them. New place is really nice. These folks are part of a disappearing New York. Such nice people. Go forth all ye with naked artwork and get it framed at Dryden! read more

I just love the staff here. They are always so kind and helpful. The woman who owns the shop always has very innovative ideas about matching frames with mats and artwork. She has a keen eye for highlighting artwork whilst putting something beautiful around it. If there has ever been an issue, they have taken the frame back and re-worked it to my liking. Beyond the near-impeccable services they provide, I like to to return because they are kind and interesting people. The owners, who run their mom and pop shop are clearly in love and it is just darling to witness. read more

It's the 1980's and there is a frame shop on 4th Ave. Dryden Gallery. We have work we need framed. We are young and a little confused what to do. We meet our new advisers with insight, enthusiasm and a keen sense of what we wanted to accomplish. When we saw the extraordinarily precise work, we knew we had found 'our place'. We have been going there ever since. 2017, and literally 100's of pieces later we still depend on Mary and her folks to elevate everything we bring in to another level that we never expect. Dryden has a cornucopia of options, but most importantly, their involvement and aesthetics have never let us down. Framing is an art unto itself. Dryden are masters of this. We always leave the shop feeling like the work we have brought in has assumed a new intention, and the framing always drawing attention to the piece; but never overwhelming it. At Dryden it is about supporting the art, rather than competing with it. Over 30 years and we have never been disappointed. Over 30 years and the very first piece they completed for us remains strong and in tact. That is craftsmanship. That is devotion. That is Dryden. read more

The owners were incredibly pleasant and helpful, but when I went to pick up my two posters, the frame was chipped very obviously. When I remarked, they fixed it...with a sharpie. Later, when I got home, I hung them both only to notice that the frame had gaps at two of the corners. They offer great options, but for the price they charge, I wouldn't go back to them. You pay for more than you get. read more

I haven't found a more reliable and affordable frame shop in the city than Dryden The owner ,Mary Dryden, is very knowledgeable and a charm to work with Easy to get to and if the piece is too big to carry they can have it delivered They only use museum quality materials and the finest frames I couldn't believe how fast they had my piece finished I guess after 46 years of business, they really know their business read more

Dryden Gallery is fantastic. I've had them frame all of the artwork in my home. I've never known exactly what I want when I go in there -- and they always have fantastic ideas that look gorgeous. This is my local framer, even though I have moved! They are top notch and staffed with folks who can help you pair frames & mattes if that's not your thing. Seven years ago, after unpacking after a move, I brought in three photographs with broken glass in the frames. Mark said normally they promise two weeks but that usually simple glass replacement took about half that time. But when I got home later that same day, Mark called me to say they were all done! "Yeah," he said, "I took the broken glass out just for safety reasons, and it was just easier to finish the job at that point." That's what they're like. read more

Their new location is tucked away on 12th St. don't miss it. I've been coming here for 23 years. I don't live near their new location but I won't go anywhere else. It's run by a wonderful couple. Their selection is top notch and so is their work. read more

I've had 50+ framing projects at Dryden over the last 25+ years and recommend them highly. Their customer service is excellent and I'm always happy with the recommendations they make. They've always been able to make a recommendation that fits the budget I've allocated for a piece. Also, the work is completed within the time specified. Lastly, Mary Dryden even helped me plan how to hang on one wall a grouping of 12 drawings Dryden framed, and it looks beautiful! Even though I moved away 15 years ago, I continue to use them and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. read more

I've had three pieces framed at Dryden over the past year - after going way too long with improvised and/or marginal inherited framing. Each time, I've been just about blown away by the old-school personal service and exceptional results. For people who've been at it this long (40+ years?), the people at Dryden are happy to take time to explore options and clearly delight in helping customers choose exactly the right matting and frame for the piece: size, shape, texture, patina, type of matte or no matte, etc. Each piece I brought in was a different challenge: a poster of Klimt's Adele Bloch-Bauer from Neue Galerie, an ink and wash drawing by an artist friend, a child's crayon drawing of great sentimental value. With framing relatively unfamiliar territory, I really appreciate the gracious extra-mile service. I picked up the childs drawing today... it never would have occurred to me to make the choices we did, so I'm all the more pleased at how perfect (without being precious) it is. Highest recommendation: terrific people, excellent work. read more

My favorite frame shop for every art piece I love. Quality work that is always exactly as specced. And the recommendations by the staff on the fine points of choosing a matte or frame are always illuminating. read more

On the plus side, the gentlemen who helped us was pleasant and had some good ideas. Unfortunately one of our two pieces came back with some damage on the front of the piece. What's especially frustrating is that this is our Ketubah, so it's not like we can just go out and buy another. We took it back twice and they apparently cannot fix the damage. We will not be returning. read more

I needed help with getting hooks and a wire added to a mirror. Mark at Dryden graciously helped me. He was incredible fast (under five minutes) and precise (perfectly placed them). He also provided the appropriate hanging tools, gave me hanging tips and provided a referral to a hanging service should I need one. Soon we will be be framing some photographs and there's no question of who I will go to. There's a reason Dryden has been in business so long! read more

As a photographer for over 50 years I have had the occasion to have many pieces of work framed, both my own and others I have collected. Of all the frame shops I've used in NYC Dryden has proved to be the most creative, cooperative and respectful of the work. The quality of the work is impeccable and the turn around time is excellent. Their pricing is fair and comparable, if not better, than shops of similar quality. If one lives or works in the proximity of 12th Street I highly recommend their services. read more

Wherever you live in NYC, don't take framing projects anywhere but to Dryden on E. 12th Street! Mary (and Don) and Mark and team are thoughtful, seasoned professionals. Excellent customer service, terrific work. Their knowledge is extensive, their sensibilities great. They respect any piece I bring in--high-end, or a child's sketch--work closely with me to find the right matte and frame, offering great advice but listening closely, too, and do the framing itself with incredible care and precision. Results? Superb in every case! read more

I've used Dryden for years and framed over 20 pieces. Their staff is very helpful in picking out frames and mats that complement the piece being framed. Some of the frames they picked our were very creative and attractive. Framing is always more $$ than one thinks, but Dryden is always affordable ("middle of the road") and a decent value. Convenient Manhattan location near Union Sq. read more

My husband just gave me a Christmas gift -- framed by Dryden. When he brought the piece there, he said -- I did not have to look up the number. It's on the back of everything we own that's framed." Yes, t'is true. I have used Dryden for -- 25 years? The quality of their work is creative, and reasonably priced. Everything they have framed had an extra "special something" with the mat, or with the frame. I have brought pieces that some may scoff at...children's drawings or other pieces important to ME. It's been viewed with respect, and great understanding. I told my husband that my Christmas gift is that much more special since -- it's framed by Dryden. And we now live in Riverdale (vs 3 blocks away). It is worth the trip. The work is beautiful, as are the people who own and work there. read more
