I was recently on the hunt to custom frame roses that my recently deceased father happend to give my mother 2 weeks prior to his unexpected passing. After checking​ another custom framing shop in the city as well as a big box store, I was thankful to have found New Yorker. The other shops told me the only way I could frame the roses was if I went with a black shadow box, which I felt was too morbid and dark. Unlike the other shops, the New Yorker team was so kind and helpful and totally got that I wanted the framing to be cheerful and celebrate the beauty and sentiment behind them. When I came back a few weeks later to pick it up, I was speechless and couldn't fight back the tears!! They far exceeded my expectations and created a work of art and for a truly fair & reasonable price!!! The price was the cherry on top as I was bracing myself for sticker shock based on the quotes from other shops and the fact that New Yorker does work for Sotheby's, Christie's etc. As a result of their amazing work, New Yorker now has a customer for life, as I plan to bring several cherished keepsakes to them for all of my custom framing needs and have referred several co-workers to them as well. I couldn't be happier with the pieces I've had framed here. I've had four or five batches of art that have needed frames over the last couple years, and on some I knew exactly what I wanted, but for most had absolutely no idea what would suit the image best. Every single time the people working have taken the time (in some cases a LOT of time) to go through options, make suggestions as necessary, and really not settle for 'good enough'. And every single time I've come back and been delighted -- all of the frames have complemented the art and elevated the pieces to a level I didn't realize was possible. The craftsmanship is also impeccable -- on the frames themselves, but also how they handle the art. One piece I had was a drawing from the 1940s and they were sure to explain how they were going to preserve it so the paper would hold up for decades to come. The prices are commensurate with the quality... which is to say not cheap, but extremely worthwhile if you can swing it. read more

I had an urgent project, a very special shadow box to be given as a farewell present to a very senior officer at work. Golan and his father were amazing. They took all the time in the world to walk me through the options and checked right then and there what they had in stock to make sure everything could be ready by my crazy deadline (two days after). The original estimate they gave me was way over my office's budget, so they calmly came up with a plan B that was more within my price range but they guaranteed it would still be beautiful. I had my doubts, but the end product was beyond my expectations. The shadow box was clean, modern and absolutely gorgeous. They obviously paid attention to every single detail. Absolutely the best framer I've ever worked with. I'm an illustrator and a bit of a procrastinator as well and on several occasions they've been able to frame a bunch of my work almost overnight, just in time for shows at various galleries and the society of illustrators deadlines. I just picked up 12 pieces from them - 6 I've unwrapped and the other 6 I'm not going to bother opening before I deliver them to the gallery because I know they're perfect. David and team did a wonderful job in helping me get these pieces in to frames and helping me choose the best frame and mat for each picture. Needed a same day framing of a poster -- called and was told to come right in and they would take care of me no problem. David took the poster and helped pick out the ideal matting and frame from an extensive collection of options. (He did not take advantage of the time constraint and charge me an arm and a leg either, which I super appreciated.) David was super helpful and kind and did a fabulous, flawless job on the framing project. Looks fantastic! Dropped it off at 10:30 and within 6 hours, it was ready to go (probably would have been faster if the poster didn't need to be flattened out)! My husband and I ordered 6 framed pieces of artwork from crate and barrel. We took it here to have wires put in the back for hanging. About 2 weeks later, one of the frames fell off the wall, damaging the art and the baseboard of our apartment. When we went back to the store both Hasan and Golan refused to accept responsibility for incorrectly installing the wires in the back, instead blaming the quality of the frame. The other 5 are still hanging out the wall with no problems, so clearly there is fault on their part. They only refunded us $30 for over $100 of product we need to purchase again. In addition, Hasan was BEYOND rude when we first went in to address the issue. What is most frustrating is I have given them over $350 worth of business matting and framing my undergraduate and graduate school diplomas. You think they would have a bit of customer loyalty. Needless to say, we will not be going back here even though we live right next door to the store. My advice to New Yorker-get some better customer service and loyalty-and get rid of Hasan because he is rude to customers. read more

We wanted mirrors attached to the insides of our closet doors for convenience and to maximize space. Hassan measured the doors and gave helpful recommendations. A few days later they came to deliver and install the mirrors onto the doors. Very good work. read more

After having had a lithograph beautifully framed there last year, I revisited on Saturday and asked if it were possible to purchase custom-made fillets for two beveled 8-ply mats. First I was told "no problem." When I returned shortly thereafter with the mats (and a frame for color selection), I was basically chased away. Instead of working with me - or trying to upsell me, which would have been fine - the salesperson who served me was extremely nasty, asked "what are you doing here?", then told me he could either sell me a gold mat (why? I never asked for a gold mat) or not help me at all, then spun on his heels and disappeared behind the curtain/screen into the workshop. Horrible, misogynistic, condescending treatment. read more

I come here specifically for important pieces and have done a handful (Takashi murakami, Scott Campbell, etc). They do a great job with museum glass and frames. I appreciate that they provide advice when asked and are reasonable on pricing. I will keep going back and suggesting them to friends. read more
