Moving and would strongly caution others…read more We were initially quoted approximately $3,600 for our move after providing a detailed inventory multiple times and confirming everything in advance. We were reassured the move would take about 8-9 hours with 4 movers and that the total would remain close to that estimate. This move was from one house to another house within a mile of each other in the same neighborhood! On move day, the crew did conduct an inventory at the beginning but did not communicate any changes or provide an updated estimate. They proceeded to load all of our belongings onto the truck. Only after everything was loaded did they inform us that the total had increased to over $13,000 -- more than four times what we were quoted. At that point, they refused to unload any of our belongings unless we paid in full. Even after we paid approximately $12,000, they still would not begin unloading until additional payment was made. This happened late at night with all of our possessions on their truck, leaving us with no real option. We asked to speak with a supervisor to understand the charges. Although he was placed on speakerphone, he refused to speak with us or explain why the cost had increased so dramatically. Throughout the process, we were repeatedly required to sign documents on a phone that we could not properly review, and they would not explain what we were signing. We were told we had to sign to continue while under pressure due to a strict move-out deadline. The final bill included many concerning charges, including: * Repeated charges for the same items/services (exercise equipment, Peloton, TVs, glass handling) * Significant material charges (e.g., dozens of rolls of tape and excessive wrapping) that we did not authorize and explicitly asked them not to use * Additional services that were not clearly disclosed in advance *They broke our new storm door and our master King Bed Frame. At the end of the move, we were also required to provide photographs of our credit card and identification, which took over an hour. We never agreed to this beforehand and felt extremely uncomfortable given the circumstances. Overall, this experience felt highly pressured and not transparent. The final cost was dramatically higher than what was represented, and we were not given a fair opportunity to review or approve charges before being required to pay. If we did not pay in full, we were not getting our materials. I began to fear for my kids and my safety. I have never been in such a terrifying pressuring situation that I was completely taken advantage of!

Example: I needed to change my move dates by 2 days it was incredibly easy to change it. Second example: I was having trouble opening and closing my box. I called the office and they sent someone out immediately to WD 40 it and show me how to correctly close the box. I wasn't completely bringing the handle over to the left. Third example: They issue safety vests to wear while you are loading your boxes. There are semi trucks coming and going with loads of our boxes and merchandise, so you need to be careful and the truckers need to see you. They follow rules for our safety and they do care. Make sure you wear your vest! It was easy to call and speak to customer service. Make sure you have your info ready so they can help you with all the details. I ended up renting 2 boxes from U Pack. My contents all fit inside a 12 foot moving truck that I rented from Home Depot. If you have a lot of furniture you may need to use U Haul to transfer your items. You DO have the option of having the boxes delivered to your home instead of the facility. It was less expensive for me to pack at the facility and transfer to the closest facility in my new state and rent a truck to haul the final distance. There are many options for you to choose from: Renting space in the semi, Having boxes delivered to your home to pack them up to 3 days in advance of moving or you can pack at the facility itself and save more money. The downside? Only getting a couple of days to pack is not enough time. I hope they change this in the future (two weeks would be better). The second downside was when my boxes arrived the Knoxville location didn't set the boxes completely on the pavement they were leaning against U Pack boxes behind mine that slanted them forward. When I opened the boxes all of my items came tumbling out due to the slant. This is NOT U Pack's fault, but the fault of the forklift operator who moved the boxes. I still give this company 5 stars. My boxes arrived quickly to the destination. Very few items were damaged. The customer service was wonderful. The workers from the office workers to truck drivers also really seem to like working for this company. That says a lot. I highly recommend this company for people who are moving by themselves, have to move quickly, moving on a budget, moving to another state or are even moving within the city. They also offered the best rates. They know what they are doing. Cut them some slack nothing is perfect. I had a couple small items that were damaged, but I had to expect that not all of my items would arrive perfect. Pack well and strap it down well. Happy moving.

If you want top tier storage with high security and climate control to guarantee that your sensitive vinyl record collection and high end computers stay safe during your move you're going to need a company like Safeguard. Bottom line: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Don't skimp on protecting your stuff if you have high value items. If you're just storing a bunch of boxes of clothes and general housewares you probably don't need a fancy storage provider with climate controlled indoor storage and can go for an outdoor locker. All that said, for what we were storing, records and high value computing and storage arrays along with a plethora of other sensitive electronics it was well worth the extra money knowing our stuff was safely stored under climate controlled lock and key. Location: It's right off the highway which makes it easy to get to with a large truck and their loading dock can accommodate most any truck you can throw at it. Loading Dock: An enclosed loading dock is a nice plus especially when it's suddenly started raining and you want to unload your truck into storage. Unloading dollies are provided and all were in good working order when I was there. Bottom Line: If you are looking for top notch storage this is your place. If you are storing low value items that don't need climate control then you might be better served elsewhere.

Having moved over a dozen times in the last 10 years (I hope I don't move for at least a year), Spark moving provided the best care for my things that I can remember, disassembling, wrapping, re-assembling all my furniture very carefully and to perfection. I've had bad experiences in the past where movers complain or show bad attitude, but even though my move wasn't the easiest their employees kept their cool and professionalism which always makes a move better.
