The saga continues... The following is an email I sent to Spark Moving this evening and CC'd my broker and support at MovingClaims.Net. I also forwarded this email to the FMCSA where I've already filed a formal complaint. I want Spark to work with us to get the insurance claim filed/settled. To date they have been unresponsive to my broker and MovingClaims. 5/6/19 To whom it may concern (Spark Moving), I am writing to personally address your company about my recent claim with MovingClaims.net and I'm asking your company to be timely and responsive through this process so we can come up with a resolution sooner rather than later. Missing items: 55in Westinghouse TV Kitchen box: Mr. Coffee coffee maker, 3 Yeti 20oz travel mugs, 1 Arctic 20oz travel mug. I had to send back items on 2 occasions during the delivery because the driver tried giving me items that weren't mine. I'm assuming that's where my TV and missing kitchen box went. Damaged items: Broken sectional couch frame and torn fabric (underside), torn fabric headboard, Sanyo WiFi ready blue ray player broken, some bowls broken, glasses cracked/broken. And kitchen table top cracked and scratched (clearly dropped). *I have pictures of all of these damages. Unfulfilled paid work/Other: Your delivery driver (one worker) dropped my items and did not reassemble any of the furniture. A new local acquaintance I met here helped your driver unload the truck. There were also several delivery delays causing me to miss or rearrange work. Hopefully we can resolve this through movingclaims.net and further legal action will not be required. Items were supposed to be delivered 6/10/19, and as of today, the company has not provided a date. I am in the process of retaining representation, and am filing complaints with relevant parties. Awful customer service, a criminal amount of up-charging, and probably tax-evasion. Also, it looks like most of the positive reviews on here are fake and done by the same person.. I got a quote from EZ Moving Group in Wheeling, IL who then contracted out to Spark Moving for my move from Grand Rapids, MI to Seattle, WA. The movers showed up for pickup a day late with a Ryder rental truck and claimed that their truck had broken down the day before. So they showed up when we had 4 hours left on our lease and immediately started packing the truck so we felt our hands were tied. Although we agreed to an estimate of $2500, we ended up getting charged $6100 (plus another $1000 for shuttle service) because the movers claimed we had more than they thought we would. They originally said it would be $7400 but we argued with them for a discount since they were a day late. They made us pay 70% of the bill during pickup and could only use cash or check. Then at drop-off we paid the remaining 30% (plus fees) in cash only which is obviously for evading taxes and avoiding a paper trail. Customer service was very responsive before pick-up but almost non-existent after that. I called several times a day for about a week and was put on hold and hung up on every time until they finally just blocked my number. We couldn't get ahold of them to ask when our stuff would arrive or for details about the remaining balance. I received a text the Saturday before getting to Seattle saying that our stuff would either arrive Sunday or Monday and that we would have to pay an extra $1000 for shuttle service. Monday came and went and we had no idea if our stuff would ever come. Tuesday morning, the truck driver called saying he would arrive on Wednesday afternoon, which he did. We were just happy to actually get our stuff back with minimal damage. 4 months later, I called them up to ask for the payment receipts they had promised me so that I could do my taxes but they claimed I need to get that information from EZ Moving since I originally did business with them. This doesn't make sense as both of my payments were by check/cash right into the hands of a Spark Moving employee. Lucky for me, I kept my own records.. I consider us lucky compared to some of the other reviews I've read just because we received our stuff in a somewhat-timely manner. If we could do it over, we would have just gotten a U-Haul, packed it ourselves, and driven it across the country. read more

I was very nervous about moving. Spark was offering a price that was almost half of the competition, I thought it might be too good to be true and I would regret my decision. At the end of the day I was very satisfied. Having moved over a dozen times in the last 10 years (I hope I don't move for at least a year), Spark moving provided the best care for my things that I can remember, disassembling, wrapping, re-assembling all my furniture very carefully and to perfection. The guys were also very nice and friendly. I've had bad experiences in the past where movers complain or show bad attitude, but even though my move wasn't the easiest their employees kept their cool and professionalism which always makes a move better. My moving day is over, everything is in place, and I am very happy I chose Spark moving. read more

The movers including the owner showed up an hour early and were so friendly and polite. The owner came himself because they were shorthand to ensure a successful pickup. The owner is very trustworthy & took his time explaining all details of charges & the process. I appreciated this dearly after dealing with unreliable movers in the past. The owner even took time to calm me down when he saw how stressed I was over the process. They were efficient with de assembling all the furniture as took the upmost care of packing every furniture. They tell me each week my stuff is on the way and it never shows up. Fraud charges have been filed and they clearly don't care. READ THIS REVIEW: I didn't pay attention to the other reviews before I booked this because RAF, the sales agent I was talking to seemed really nice, but I wish I listened to what other people said. I've moved a lot and used a lot of different movers, but I've NEVER had an experience as terrible as this one. I repeatedly told them that my move in date was firm and confirmed the delivery date for my stuff constantly. They constantly reassured me to not worry and that my things would arrive on time. I also repeatedly asked to confirm that the same truck that was loading my things would be driven down to NC (as opposed to them taking my things out and putting them in storage and loading another truck and increasing the risk of losing things). They confirmed that they would use the same truck and my belongings would not be on a truck with other peoples stuff. This was all inaccurate. They misrepresented everything to get my money. The day of my move, they tell me that my things will not be delivered on time, that they don't know where the truck with all my things is, and that they can't even give me a date by which it will be delivered. THEY DONT KNOW WHERE MY STUFF IS OR WHEN IT CAN BE DELIVERED! I do not trust this company any more and would hate for anyone else to go through what I am going through. On top of all that, they charged me $425 extra from the binding estimate (even though I reduced the amount of furniture they had to take from the quote and had mostly small boxes instead of medium as quoted). Then they wanted to charge me an extra $400 to have a shuttle truck deliver my items from a big truck (also something they misrepresented to me about my move). When they finally arrived with my belongings, they demanded I pay $721 in CASH (which is extremely fishy. All of the other moving companies I've ever used will allow you to pay with credit card or check). They would not unload my items until I paid them in cash and would not let me have access to unload them myself. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I am 100% confident than any positive reviews are paid or otherwise fraudulent. UPDATE: they brought my belongings four days after the guaranteed delivery date. I'm missing over $1000 with of items including some of my furniture, clothes, and over a years worth of contacts. Many of the items that did make it are severely damaged. For example, my headboard is completely broken, they lost my bed frame, and they ripped up my desk, and scratched up my tv stand. I can't tell you enough to stay away from this company. I read the reviews and still tried them. I want to say one positive thing. This is for the one star. The phone dispatchers were very nice people. They had nothing to do with the situation. My appointment was set up for 4pm. I called at 430 to see where they were and was told they would call me back. They didn't call me back. So I called at 6pm and the dispatcher said the movers couldn't come. I am convinced had I not called they would have just ghosted me. Long story short we rescheduled for Monday. I got a call on Sunday and was told they can't do Monday either. I don't know what else to say about them other than they do not appear to be reliable. Horrible experience with Spark. The price more than doubled, we kept paying and paying once they had our things on their truck. Never on time. Then, even though our furniture was to have been stored for 3 months, we were told it was on its way to be delivered to our new home several states away that wasn't even completed yet. We had to scramble to get our own storage, pay extra for "more steps" and will need to pay to move it again. When we asked for help with these extra costs--nope. I don't understand these positive reviews. I hope this review saves someone the miserable experience that I had with this horrible, scamming company. Honestly, I think I would have been better off mailing every item I owned through the USPS postal system than going with Spark/A1 movers. Now, that's not to be confused with A-1 movers, a legit moving company that has an A+ rating with the BBB. I was fooled into thinking A1 movers were them. Spark movers showed up to my home in a truck too small to take all of my belongings, so I had to leave things behind. Thus costing me money to have to replace. Also, they charged me $2000 more from the original estimate claiming the computer didn't correctly account for all the cubic footage of my belongings even after I listed everything I was taking. They took hours packing my things, and even wanted some cash on the side to pay the other movers. It took over a month from the day the packed me up to the day my things arrived in the drop-off location. Communication with them was a nightmare in and of itself. When my things finally arrive, they wouldn't open the truck until I paid the remainder in cash. Once they started to unload my belongings, I noticed that boxes were damaged and some missing. Items were missing, furniture was broken or damaged. They charged me damn near $6000 to not be able to do their jobs which was to deliver my belongings from one place to another and in the condition that they were in when I packed them up. When I tried to file a claim, they didn't want to pay me even a fraction of what my items cost. They only wanted to give me $61 dollars, when in reality, they owe me over $3000 for all the damaged and missing items I've had to replace. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE YOU. Not if you don't want to be in the situation I was in. Everything about my move went smoothly except my business with this inept con-artist company. They put colored stickers on my things, so why didn't they all arrive? I even ended up with other people's belongings and no way to get these people their things. I called the company to report it, but you know, they didn't care. Said they'd swing by to pick up the items and never did. This is the level of "professionalism" you'll get with Spark Moving Company. If you are booked with them, please, save yourself the trouble and find another mover before it's too late. Sticking with them has been my only regret. HOLD ON! Im surprised that this guys has only 3 stars on yelp . My move was as smooth as butter on toast ... guys were late for 45 min (which i consider acceptable as of knowing how moving industry works) My price have matches what i have discussed and was assured from Rafael . Alina made confirmation of my pick up ETA a day before around 5 pm . Than on March 16th my two bedroom apt was successfully picked up by Charlie . All furniture was padded as i was promised. On April 3rd my father have that received in Phoenix, AZ. We got 1 night stand scratched (it was old anyways) And my lamp was broken. I have successfully filed a claim with Alexa. So you know: Ive been moved twice and this guys are definitely not the worst . United had f***ed me over for triple price last year , thats y ive decided to go with smaller and family owed company. My Estimate was $4320 ended up with $4965(which is NOT bad , because i had additional packing) Guys, stay strong keep doing what you are doing and you will eventually hit the 5 star ratings and recognition from people. I've never posted a bad review on here before, but this was a bad experience. I had confirmed with them various times for 2 weeks that not only did I need a certificate of insurance, but I had a very specific time frame I had to move out of one building and into the other. Not only were they two hours late, but they never answered the phone when I called and only got me the form last minute after I repeatedly called every number I could find for a week to get the insurance certificate that was required by the buildings! The window I had to move out and in was completely missed and I had to negotiate with both buildings to allow us to move. I ended up moving half of my belongings myself into my own car. I did not receive a price cut or anything for my inconvenience. Since you pay the movers directly with cash, I couldn't negotiate. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the movers themselves were nice people. Both of my roommates' moving companies were not only 2x faster, but were on time and prompt. DO NOT HIRE THIS Company . I was scheduled to move today at 3pm. They were supposed to help me pack and move to new location. I only needed light packing because some stuff was already packed and then they were supposed to move me to new location. He says okay and another person, not Rafael calls me back stating they are sorry. They can't do anything about it. They can schedule me for Monday morning as if it was nothing. I told her no because people have to work and still have to schedule elevator at new building. She tells me maybe I'm not use to moving because this happens all the time. I immediately went off on her and told her she bet not charge my card and we won't be using them. Of course there were some obscenities in my reply and then I immediately hung up the phone. I have moved several times and I have never had a moving place not show up. It really upset me how she was acting like it was no big thing and Rafael refused to call me back like I requested. Spark Moving is the WORST moving company ever! Beware if you're thinking of hiring this company, When I booked with them Rafael was very nice and accommodating but when the day came for them to move us they were 3 hours late, no excuse at all. I called Rafael to see what's going on, and no response, no call back and no text back until about 2 hours that they were supposed to be in my home, when I finally got a call back from Rafael, he said they are on their way that they were stuck in the traffic (LIE) another 30 minutes past we got a call from their driver that they will be here soon, and that they he had a very late move the night before which Rafael lied to me that they were stuck in the traffic. We waited for 3 hours when this unprofessional young people finally came. The driver apologize but what good will that do to me, we were supposed to closed my home and we were supposed to have a final walked through and it didn't happen because this unprofessional people came 3 hours late. And on top of that, they were super slow and literally after being there for 30 minutes this people were hungry and was calling for food delivery, I mean, who does that, they should have been hustling and moving me fast because they were 3 hours late to begin with but instead they took their time and were super slow, WORST experience ever. When I called Rafael to tell him that his people are slow, he didn't even care and told me I had too much stuff, are you serious Rafael? How much stuff do you think 1200 Square feet condo has? They took 7 hours to move me which I know for a fact that this was way too long, this is not the first time I moved, and they could not fit everything in the small truck they brought me, this company will never ever get my service ever again. Out of the 3 young men this company sent me, only 1 was decent who was working hard, the other 2 were awful who was on their phone texting and talking half of the time....WORST COMPANY EVER!!! Please do not hire Spark. They were scheduled to arrive between noon and 1pm. They phoned at 12:15 saying there would be a slight delay....they wouldn't be there until 6pm. (That isn't slight, that is terrible!) At 6pm, no movers show up. Many phone calls later, at 7pm they say that won't make it at all. We can reschedule for the following day and they will give us a discount. (It's the end of the month, and we were desperate.) Silly as we were, we said ok. They were supposed to be there at 4pm. They didn't show. Finally at 4:30, after many phone calls, they tell us they couldn't be there until 6:30 pm. We didn't trust them, so we cancelled and called another moving company. Throughout all of this, they were extremely difficult to get a hold of. We had to leave numerous messages that didn't get answered, or were hung up on by the drivers. To whom it may concern, I was booked for movers at 530pm on Thursday, January 31 for a 14x4.5f5 table pick up at the loading dock of Willis Tower at 233 S Wacker Drive.  I arrived at the location to meet the movers and no one was there.  I called your company and was informed at 545pm that the movers will not be able to come.  In the meantime the table is at the loading dock and I had no way to make alternate arrangements. So here it is the next day and my wood table had to remain overnight on a cold unheated loading dock. This is very unprofessional. They never have answers to simple questions such as how much is my reaming balance, or where are my goods currently located. Do not use this company! I only try to write positive reviews, but this is a warning to prevent those who may suffer in the future. They were weeks LATE on our delivery and our property, nearly ALL of it, was DAMAGED: Desks, Tables, clothes (water damage), couch, heirlooms etc. Much of it was also LOST. The packers were rude, late, and stayed at my home until 2am, adding to the already difficult stress of moving. They also demanded dinner and implied I pay (which I did, as I wanted to be kind and my property taken care of). In terms of communication, the office itself and owners were very rude, difficult, dishonest, and used harsh language and bullying tactics. Their behavior made it feel like a complete scam of a company, and I will be reporting them to the BBB. In the end, they offered me to file an insurance claim through THEIR SELECTED company (movingclaims.net), who offered me $70 in the end! That company is also a scam. Do not ever use this company. In fact, we did not hire them. The company we thought we were hiring decided without asking us to subcontract out to this company. For starters they were two days late coming to move our things in June. Our house was already sold. So no where to go. We moved from Iowa to Arizona so several states. We were promised our items would arrive in just a few days. A few days turned into 2 1/2 months (August)! We called this company DAILY with no results. I had the Iowa Attorney General and AZ Attorney General involved as well as the AZ State Patrol, Feds, and anyone else I could get a hold of. After 2 1/2 months our items were still in a warehouse back in Iowa. We were ready to get a warrant to retrieve our things when they decided to move them so we couldn't. Finally, late on a Sunday evening in the middle of August, one driver (no movers) showed up in a dented Enterprise Truck. We had to pay all of the money, no discounts, in cash, to even see our things. Some things were damaged but luckily it was all there. WE had to move our items out of the truck ourselves. Bunch of BS! Do not EVER use this company. We did not receive one discount and paid thousands along with having to purchase everything anyway because it took them 2 1/2 months to get our things. read more

One of the most professional, fast, efficient and courteous moving companies I have ever come across. The 3 men who came were expecting to move a lot less than I previously stated in my initial phone call and they did not bat an eye with continuing to work and move all of the extra items. It was such a difficult time for me that I didn't realize how much more I had to move. After they left, I realized that I forgot to make them aware of my 12 plus trophies and they returned for them without hesitation. They made a difficult time for me so much easier and I could not be anymore grateful to have met these men. I highly recommend them for any project. read more

Please do not use these people. If you have been ripped off, contact me. I am checking into filing a RICO complaint against them and Mayflower Moving group for various contract violations. There is a pattern of this type of activity between Spark and other moving companies that use brokers. They up-charged, were two days late, delivered before the agreed date so they could charge for layovers etc etc etc. and did everything they could possibly do to bilk us out of more money. They were supposed to show up with a 26 ft truck and showed up with a junk 16 ft truck with 8 ft of it was "promised out" to another client. So they charged up full price in advance, then left some of our stuff and offered to pick it up the next day for an additional 600.00. All of the negative complaints on here contain the very same issues we experienced. The same POS truck, being hours and days late and not even delivering all of the household goods on the "binding estimate" A sob story about his driver getting sick in North Dakota and his truck being impounded, thats why whe was two days late. OH and he hired two local high school kids who had NEVER worked for a mover in their lives....and they did a better job then Raf or Ralph or Rafael or whatever he calls himself this week. If you have ever listened to anyone in your life, please listen to this. Do not do business with spark moving or Mayflower Moving Group. Not to be confused with the "real" Mayflower. ***UPDATE*** SINCE THIS ORIGINAL POST, I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH SPARK TO COME TO A FAIR RESOLUTION. I WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE TRANSPARENCY THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS. Dealing with Spark has been one of the worst experiences of my move to SW Florida. Not only were they a month late with my delivery, but many items were lost/damaged in the move. My very nice and expensive mattress is still missing (it's been three months since it was picked up in Chicago) along with some other items that are relatively important for a household: my bowed shower curtain rod, my clothing rack, three shoe racks and my industrial kitchen shelving unit. I have been waiting to open/install my TV until the arrival of my mattress because why bother unless I could actually watch it in bed? Today I bit the bullet and decided to get a jump start. When I opened the TV box there was a HUGE crack across my Samsung LED. I am beyond livid. Spark has been relatively uncommunicative regarding my missing items and showed little remorse for being over a month late to deliver the initial shipment. I finally got a hold of someone and told them I was going to sue them if they didn't make it right - that seemed to get their attention since I've received two calls from them in the last 20 minutes. Bottom line: late, broken, and missing. Terrible communication and don't seem to care about their customers. read more

Spark was apparently sub-contracted by EZ Moving to move my son across the country. The whole move was close to a nightmare. Poor communication, extra costs (ended up being about 3X the original quote), unreliable timing, and so on. I'm not sure if these were issues with EZ or with Spark. However, I called Spark and spoke with Raf. He was very nice, but was not able to address any of our issues. I thanked him and asked for his last name. He said he couldn't give it to me because it was personal information. i later discovered his full name is Rafael Ohanesyan, and is the President of the company. So how many company presidents refuse to give their last names to their customers. Outrageous. read more

These guys are super helpful! I used them to help me move into a new apartment recently and I haven't had a better experience with a moving company. They handled my things with care as if it was there own stuff. So if you're in the area give these guys a call! read more

A couple buddies and I needed to find a new office space, and was nervous about the moving situation and damage to our equipment etc. Not only did Spark Moving do an amazing job wrapping and moving all the pieces but they beat the competitions price by almost half. These guys were very professional and courteous and we even had a few laughs with them. All of our belonging arrived without a scratch and on time. I recently moved from Iowa to Georgia and used State to State to state moving who then brokered my move to Spark Moving. The original quote and the final price were over $1200 different. The relocation specialist was nice up until the time the company they contracted to complete my move arrived. The contract terms were not honored the deposit I paid was almost not taken off the bill, they changed from per bound pricing to sq foot pricing, and became very rude and unresponsive. The Forman named Charlie kept attempting to get cash out of me and tack on additional charges that were stated as included in my contract. Over all this was a horrible experience and I strongly recommend that no one use this company to complete a move. The Forman at pickup was very shady and the the driver that delivered our belongings was unable to communicate with us except through a translation app on his phone. Items were scratched and missing. We had a worst life experience with this moving company. On the day of moving and during delivery we got so many nasty surprises. We were contracted to Spark movers through a broker. On the day of pick up the drivers came in a rented truck which is not usual for a reputed moving company. They quoted us double the price of which we agreed to the broker. Unfortunately we don't have any other choice than to go with this moving company. After pick-up when we started following up with them for the estimated date of delivery we were given bunch of lies from their customer support. Each person said different status about our items at some point I was thinking these guys might have sold my items. At last after 20 working days from the day of pick up they delivered our items. These guys damaged all our furniture, broke glass items and missed one of our boxes. They also misplaced other customer's items in our home which we are placed it in a secured storage till they take. When we asked about claim we got an email from sales saying not to post review in any third part site till we claim our damage and also the claim process almost takes 60 - 90 business days. Every time when we try to contact them they give an irresponsible answer and showed no interest in answering our queries. To whomever want to do a peaceful moving please stay away from these guys. read more

This is only the first review, I will update it if my sister ever gets her belongings! It was picked up, after a 3 day delay, on April 8th and today is My 17, 2019 and she still has not got her stuff! Numerous calls to Spark, Alexa said she would return my calls 3 times and never has. I feel I have a personal relationship with the customer service department at Pure Moving (the broker) now, we have talked so much. My sister is 72 years old and has been living in an empty home with the exception of a recliner and TV that she had to buy. They said on Monday, their truck broke down, well that was the same excuse they used for the delayed pick up! I can guarantee That if her belongings are delayed much longer I will file a law suite against them. Enough said. read more
