Now I'm usually skeptical with NY-style and you know if you read my last pizza review BUT! Skeptism be gone - we had a large pepperoni, and the cheese garlic bread: everything was delicious. The spot is small, but super cute vibe! Didn't eat in, but I definitely would next time. The pizza is good. We have such good pizza around gets hard to rank them. I always say would I go back, yes I would back, I wouldn't go out of my way go back, but if was in the area and wanted pizza most definitely. They are on the higher end price wise for pizza as well. Been here several times and it has to be my favorite pizza in Buffalo. Super cool interior, amazing staff, and amazing food. The NY style crust is thin, light and crispy and the Sicilian crust is thick and pillowy with crispy edges. The cup and char pepperoni leaves nothing to be desired. Let's start with the vibe of the restaurant - this place is pink and funky and fun. It has those old school lights like Pizza Hut - but iridescent and pink. The food was next level. This is my favorite pizza in Buffalo. We ordered two different types of pizza - one on the Sicilian crust (which was thicker, yet light and airy) and one on the original crust (which was similar to thin New York style). The red sauce was sweet and fresh. We devoured both pizzas and left no stragglers. We also got two bottles of wine. The wine menu is actually a small novel, and the descriptions make picking a bottle super fun. We couldn't decide and asked our waitress for a suggestion - she knew so much about the wines and was able to make a recommendation that would go well with our pizza. It was fantastic. We got two appetizers, two pizzas, two bottles of wine, and 4 ice creams - and the bill was only $200. The amount of food, with the quality of the meal, with the excellence of the waitress made me feel this meal was such a reasonable price. The tip was already included with the total price as Extra Extra is cooperatively owned and focuses on creating an equitable space for its employees and guests. SO COOL. Popped in for their one year anniversary where they were offering up dollar slices and I got the New York style and it was solid. Definitely looking forward to visiting again to check out some of their cocktails. Excellent vegan NY style pizza at a worker owned joint on the West Side - what's not to love? Vegan cheese is a $5 upcharge. The pizza was very thing and delicious, perfect bubbly crust. Ordered online and it said it'd be ready in 30 - got the text alert at the exact time it predicted. The inside is adorable and they seem to have a fair number of wines on display. There are slices available but I didn't look to see if they were vegan. There's only about two pies so I'm guessing not. read more

You seat yourself and we got lucky that there was a cute little table open right by the window. They have a list of toppings and you basically create your own pizza. The best part is they are inclusive of all appetites including standard, vegan, gluten free, and they have mocktails for those that don't want alcohol. Our bill came to 63 dollars for two pizzas (the pizza prices are highly dependent on the toppings you pick and this could be much cheaper with different/less toppings) and a mocktail but they are tipless so we didn't need to add to that and we had plenty left over for another couple of meals so it was worth it. Was in town for a wedding and stopped by this new spot as I was traversing around my old neighborhood on a Friday. I was surprised to see it open for three months and not be on Yelp yet, but had a quick chat with the owner who was super personable and passionate about what he does. I LOVED the vibe and concept of this spot. The owner also mentioned that he gets paid as much as the dishwasher and it's truly a cooperative and profit-sharing sort of concept. The owner used to work for Jay's Pizzeria, so the skill and craft embodied here is definitely legit. The pizza itself was delicious. I just had a slice to go, but it was the perfect lunch I needed to carry me through the rest of the busy day. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd definitely be back often. I ordered takeout online and arrived early. Asked to have a drink at their bar while I waited and they were very accommodating and friendly. Quick attentive service and recommendations. They kept a close eye on my order and looped me in on the status and if I'd have time for another drink. The atmosphere was cool. Laid back and open. Lots of friends and people on dates. Extra Extra is tasty tasty. Heard many a rumor about how this new spot in the Five Points neighborhood is *the* place to get a NY-style pizza, and my boyfriend and I finally decided to give it a go. We got a medium sized pizza to takeout -- half pepperoni, half with onions, mushrooms, and olives. The portion size was perfect for us, six slices in total! Boy did we love it! The pizza was so thin, yet so crisp and flavorful. The pepperoni they use is amazing, and their blue cheese dressing might be my new favorite in Buffalo. My boyfriend enjoyed his share of the pie, but wished they were a little more heavy-handed with the olives. This will be pricier than your average pizza, but that's because they bake the cost of paying their staff a fair wage into their menu prices. And that's a cause I'm always down with supporting. We live in the area, so we've been eagerly waiting for the opening of this New York-style pizzeria. Here are a couple things that make Extra Extra stand out: - The pink painted exterior and interior - It's a cooperatively owned business (similar to Breadhive nearby) - It's a full service, tipless restaurant All right, you say, but how's the food? We've only done takeout at this point, calling ahead to place our order, but in short, we're happy Extra Extra is in the neighborhood and we'll return. I'm a NYC-native, so Extra Extra's NY-style pizza was a major draw for me. The pies are pretty darn good. I like their red sauce. The cheese coverage is good (I think other local places sometimes put too much cheese). I would say that our pie was a tad well done for my liking--more char than I'd like, but definitely more than edible. One quibble about the pricing: I'm not sure why mushrooms on a large pie are $10, when the mushrooms themselves didn't seem to be that exotic-tasting. They're the most expensive topping on the menu, and all the meat toppings like meatball, sausage, anchovy, which I would have guessed would be more or equally expensive, are only $5 each for a large pie. The menu is fairly small, but I think this lets them focus on doing things well. Other than pizza, the other food items are salad, bread and butter, meatballs and soft-serve ice cream. They do have gluten-free crust and vegan cheese listed as options on the menu. They also serve beer, wine and liquor. I would love it if they had an online ordering system since it seemed like they had a hard time hearing us when we called in our order. They've only been open for a little over a month, though, so maybe that's in the works? The workers we interacted with seemed very friendly, and the dining space seemed clean and inviting. The food was amazing! The owner was very nice and the service staff were great! I love the theme of the place as well, but let's get what really stood out about this business. Their philosophy on tipping was pretty well informed. They knew that one of the things that contributed to the history of tipping in America was unfairness to African Americans in the past; yes there are other reasons, but they chose to talk about this which is awesome. The pour is a very low 4 oz. - no exceptions according to our server who had an 'I could care less' attitude while conceding it was 'unusual' ( their words, not ours). Came here a few weeks ago for a wine class which was paired with a pizza tasting. The wine class was so informative and inviting, and the wines were so well chosen. The other half of class was about making pizza and how the chef here makes different kinds. He was extremely helpful and engaging and even let a few people make their own pizza!
