I am SO in love with my kitchen. The whole crew is super responsive and Miles and Janeth where both great in putting up with my back and forthing that I always do. Always on time, super professional and got the job done fast. They installed new gorgeous countertops and subway tile and hooked up all the plumbing and even touched up paint for me and then cleaned up afterward, so when the job was done, i came back to a perfect kitchen. The other poster is right, I feel like I am suddenly living in an upgraded house. While other contractors dont even show up to provide you a quote when they say they do, these guys impressed me. Plus the whole crew is just good people and it shows. I will definitely be using them again. It's been over three years since Expressions General Remodel butchered my kitchen remodel. I woke up this morning STILL depressed having to live with what a horrible job they did. If I had another tens of thousands of dollars to spend, I would gut it and remodel all over again, that's how glaring their poor workmanship and cheap quality is. Between Miles' unprofessionalism, Janeth's unscrupulous business tactics, Arnold's threatening behavior, and the workers utter incompetence, I just can't believe they are allowed to keep their licence. Janeth pays companies like yelp and the BBB to remove honest reviews so they can continue to cheat unsuspecting people out of their money. They keep the State Licensing Board at bay by settling. The floor was laid crooked, the cabinets have cracks, chips and exposed wood in more than a few places, 17 glass tiles are very obviously chipped and cracked (several of which were filled in with silicone caulking!), the grout is flaking off, where the caulking peels up is rotting already...the latest, which happened last week, is that the electrical going to the microwave is faulty and nearly caused a fire. We have to pay for an electrician to come out, get behind the wall, and repair Expression's mistakes. We had to pay a plumber to come out to repair a leak...turned out that they not only installed the faucet backwards, but they didn't attached the garbage disposal correctly, causing it to leak. We had to pay for the repair of the rot it caused. We've had to pay the appliance company to come out four times to fix their improper installations. It's been a nightmare. It really has. I'm guessing Janeth, Arnold, and Miles sleep like babies though, knowing they got away with this and will continue to get away with stealing other people's money too. WHAT A FREAKIN' DISASTER!! I write this as a consumer warning.... I hired Expressions General Remodel for kitchen remodel after seeing their website and being impressed by what looked like high end work. I quickly realized they have no idea what they are doing. They hired inexperienced, low paid workers who had no idea what they were doing and had ZERO supervision! I was promised high quality craftsmanship and professionalism. However, I got neither. It must be very tough being a contractor in this Internet age. Some of these bad reviews are by people who never even hired this company. Yelp doesn't make it easy either, because in order to get 5 stars, a company has to be considered "As good as it gets." Even the guy who cuts my lawn would never get that from me - and that job takes about 1 hour. Anyway, my wife and I hired Expressions about a year ago to remodel our totally out-dated kitchen. This company did a really great job at a fair price. They gutted our entire kitchen down to the studs. Raised the ceiling, installed all new electrical wiring (including a new electrical panel), opened a wall on one end, and added a wall with a pocket french door on the other end. They hung drywall, painted, added base/crown molding, cabinets, granite counter, tile backsplash, under the counter lights, ceiling recessed lights, and they saved us money by keeping our old hardwood kitchen floors by adding to them and refinishing them. This all took about a little less than 3 months - including city permits and inspections. One year later: We could not be more pleased with the look of our new kitchen. The open concept of our kitchen leading to our dinning room area is great! A few weeks ago, when we had a little problem with one of the undercabinet lights, Expressions came over, no questions asked and fix it - at no charge. Not many contractor will do that without finding a way to charge more money. Good luck to you as you search for a contractor for your job. This is the second time we have used Expressions General Remodeling to remodel our home. We were more than happy with the first remodel and same goes for this one. This time we had them remodel the laundry room by taking out a bar sink and knocking down a wall in order to put the sink in the laundry room and the wall around the sink. They did a great job and they were able to remove everything without damaging it so that it could be re-used. removing the wall left the end of the cabinet inside the laundry room with bare wood and Cesar was able to make new trim that matched perfectly. We also had them add new sinks and mirrors in the bathrooms, which also turned out great. There was a miscommunication on the color of the trim for the mirrors, but it was fixed without a problem. Miles is always immediately responsive to any issues that arise; a pleasure to work with. They also installed custom cabinets, custom desk and a Murphy bed in our guest room. The work came out beautifully, couldn't be happier. The work crew, led by Cesar, was great and they always made sure everything was covered from floor to ceiling. This was much appreciated as my wife is allergic to dust and she never had any issues during the whole remodel. The one issue was the custom cabinets took longer to finish than expected, but they are exactly what we wanted and look great. Better to do it right, than to rush it. We used Expressions to remodel our kitchen. I received the referral from a satisfied co-worker. We had them gut our entire kitchen, remove a soffit, run a gas line, install new appliances, move a sliding door to another wall and build an exterior wall where the sliding door was. They also painted, put in new insulation and took care of all the electricity. We couldn't be happier with how our kitchen turned out. Positives: 1. The work was thorough, professional and most importantly on time. The crew -- led by Abel and mostly consisting of Jose, Jose, and Leo -- were punctual and hard-working. The job took a little over three weeks. They came every weekday and two Saturdays. There were rarely less than three people on the job at all times. The crew cleaned the work area after each day's work. 2. Expressions' bid was highly competitive. The quality of the cabinets were excellent for the price (wood, soft-close, etc.). Inspections passed without a problem. 3. The owners, Janeth and Arnold, were responsive to all our requests and changes. We changed our minds about the cabinet color at the last minute. There were no problems. Negatives: 1. I wish they would do a better job of communicating timelines and next steps. On several occasions we were told the day before what was going to be done the next day. As a result, we had to rearrange work schedules, and buy items like the granite counter tops last minute. 2. Some people may be put off by the TV infomercials, the promises of a free iPad, and the aggressive sales pitch. My advice: look beyond all that. The finished product will look great. This company had so many bad 1 star reviews lately. I wonder if they paid for reviews to be taken down. Some of the negative reviews are no longer there. This review is many years overdue, as I've been keeping an eye on them after having waited years to see what others might say. I thought at the time that they had a lot of quality reviews, and that maybe it was just me with the bad experience, or maybe I just didn't understand how contracting business worked, but it wasn't! I must say that I found myself agreeing with many of the negative reviews (some of which are now gone?) they've had and have shared a lot of the experiences they've shared. I'm only sorry I didn't write a review sooner for fear of retaliation (they knew where I lived afterall) and to prevent others from falling into their trap. Anyhow, I've moved since, so I don't really care if they do anything to my old place, but I will say Elisabeth's and Allison's reviews both mirror almost exactly my own experiences with Janeth and Arnold. Those two were extremely unprofessional, I'm not sure how they're still in business today?! Their work was extremely low quality, communication was horrible, and I've spent money since bringing in other contractors to fix their shoddy work. They not only charged me way too much for really crappy work, but it ended up costing me more money to have real contractors fix their crap. Arnold does nothing. Janeth does nothing. Never helped with anything whatsoever, and never saw or heard from them very much. You know I do remember when they were once on time and on the job -- when they were there to collect my money. If I ever did hear from them, they both acted like they didn't care at all about any of the work. She came off with a horrible attitude and he was pretty much a jerk about everything, constantly griping about me making changes from this to that. He CONSTANTLY blamed me for making changes when it was their guys that kept getting things wrong over and over again in the house. Read the other reviews, they are spot on. I had a very pleasant experience with my kitchen remodel because of Expressions General Remodel. I had put off my remodel for much too long and when it came time that it was actually happening I regretted waiting so long. I was afraid and didn't have much time to put forth for the process of remodeling my kitchen. I was afraid because of how people make it seem as though remodeling is a hassle and that it requires a lot of dedication. However, I had the complete opposite experience. Janeth was so kind. She helped with every question I had and made such great and professional suggestions when I had to choose out the granite, floor, cabinets, etc. She informed me with elaborate details about every step and Arnold always ensured that I understood what was happening and that I was happy with the progress. Miles was very informative as well. I really entrusted him to execute my vision and even exceeding in doing so. I was actually not going to post our experience with Expressions General Remodel (EGR) until I was disrespected and insulted by Miles, the salesman. I should have suspected, by the pressure to sign on the dotted line, right at the first encounter, for which he showed up 1 hour late by-the-way. At this first meeting, and subsequent meetings before we signed the contract, I explained that we have a 12 year old son that is a type 1 diabetic. Being without a kitchen, although stressful for everyone, for us, it would be a health issue because of my son's condition. I asked Miles how long it would take to get the kitchen done, and he replied 4 weeks. I mention that keeping on schedule was very important to us and I would like to have a contract where they would have 5 weeks (we wanted to give them one extra week for any unforeseen delays. A $250.00/per day penalty would apply if they took longer. They agreed and we signed the contract. BIG Mystake! These people, Miles, Janeth and Arnold are masters at not take accountability and responsibility for their actions and to deflect blame to others. You will never hear: "I'm sorry this or that happened", it's always somebody else's fault. BTW, they will call you for payments, but won't pick up the phone or call you back for anything else, if it's something they rather not deal with, you won't hear from them. First day, they showed up for the demolition and with heavy hammers took down my 20 year old kitchen. There was a thick cloud of dust in the air when I came home. When I called and asked why the furniture in the living and dining rooms weren't covered with plastic, they replied "oh, we'll do it tomorrow". Nice of them to place the plastic over the thick layer of dust already all over our furniture!!! Once they took the "kitchen down", they didn't show up for 2 days. I called and asked, if they didn't plan to continue the work, why did they take down the kitchen, knowing we had a diabetic son and every day, in fact 24/7, is an ordeal? They response was a short and rude: "We have 5 weeks to finish the job! Another issue is that, verbally they will tell one price, only to put a different (higher) price in writing. This happened at least in 3 occasions during the process. Anyway, after a combative and unprofessional stressful 7 weeks, the kitchen was finally done (mostly done). When we made the final payment, I deducted $1,250.00 for 5 daysx$250.00 per day over the agreed contract. We actually could have double that since they went over 2 weeks from the 5 weeks agreement as per the contract. There was a period of time when they didn't show up to work for 7 straight days. I got the following email: Per last check you have sent. Amount deducted is NOT ACCEPTABLE. You are late with payment 4 weeks, We have been very generous with your project. Please don't make things complicated. If you refuse to make this payment I'll file a lien against your property per signed agreement plus attorneys, court fees and late payment fees. Your clearly state in your emails and texts with Arnold, Miles and myself that $250 delay fees will not apply if things are not under our control which they were not. You really don't want to go through this for only $1,250.00 which I know you will be loosing a lot more in court. You have to respond this email within 3 days, if I don't hear from you my attorney will be in contact once that happen all the described fees will apply Your invoice is attached and includes payment-due information. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your business. Sincerely, Expressions General Remodel I believe this short email really summarizes who they are and what they stand for, and BTW, we were never late with any payments!!! Miles blamed us for making changes that took longer and this is absolutely not true. Janeth blamed the cabinet people for delaying delivery. You can see the pattern in behavior: NEVER THEIR FAULT! ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY! We are not litigious people and offered to pay the $1,250.00 if they delivered the baseboards that were still missing. When Miles showed up with the baseboard, he asked to come in to take photos. Given the experience that we had with this company, I told him that he could not come into my house and take photos and I told him why. He called me a jerk and stormed off. This people are unprofessional, arrogant and insensitive and I would NOT recommend you use them. Go somewhere else for you kitchen needs! read more

I discovered Expressions from a coupon which was in a booklet that came in the mail. I have a small condo with a small kitchen, and thought the number of cabinets quoted in the coupon price might be just the amount I needed. I went to the showroom and talked to Kyle and Janeth. I went in anticipating the possibility of getting the old "bait and switch" routine, but to my pleasure it didn't happen. I found them to be friendly and straightforward; not pushy or aggressive at all. If they had been I would have ran out the door and not let it hit me in the butt on my way out. I DO NOT like, nor will I stand for that style of sales tactics. They were very knowledgeable and good at answering my questions. I decided to go ahead and set up an appointment for Kyle to come measure my kitchen. Kyle showed up on time, and was very thorough at thinking through all options that would be feasible for a remodel. We discussed the price, and Kyle did not pressure me at all. He left me to think it over. Next day I decided to return to the showroom, go over the price again and sign a contract. The price remained the same as the coupon except for some electrical work I agreed upon. There were never any hidden charges sprung upon me. Work commenced just one day later than expected, but was finished ahead of schedule. The workers are true artisans. I could see where they were very experienced, professional and took much pride in their work. They cleaned up after themselves every day, and were very friendly and respectful. All of the staff was more than willing to work with me on little issues that came up to make sure I was satisfied. They did a little tweaking for me here and there and didn't charge extra. My experience with Expressions was a very positive one. I am very happy with my new kitchen and won't hesitate to recommend Expressions General Remodel to any of my family and friends. read more

I got four estimates from different contractors for my kitchen remodel project. Finally I decided to go with Expressions General Remodel (EGR) because their price was very reasonable (within my budget) and their reviews & BBB rating was good. They also included extra options for new floor and ceiling recessed lights (replacing my old neon light box of the late 80's). The estimate and pricing were clear without any ambiguous verbiage. We set the start date. The cabinets were ordered and we started to make our scheduled payments according to the contract. Janeth brought us to GraniteExpo for selecting our tile and granite (this was fun and exciting). The work started exactly on the date and completed in 3 weeks as planned. They didn't work every day of the 3 weeks but that was fine with us as long as the project was completed on schedule. I would like to commend the EGR team: Janeth, Miles, Arnold, Jesus. We used Expressions to remodel our kitchen 5 years ago. While there were some surprises and bumps along the way, they did great work. One thing I learned from that project was that you really have to overcommunicate and spell everything out. Everything! This year, we needed to remodel our master bath and I got several quotes from local vendors that mainly specialize in bathrooms. But I figured I should go back to Expressions and see what their quote would be like. They were comparable to the other vendors and included a few things the others didn't. Given our experience with them, we decided to go with EGR again. Perhaps because this was my second remodeling project, it was smoother this time. I also work from home, which is critical when you have contractors in the house because they do need to stop and ask you questions often or you just need to check up on the progress. It's really important for someone to be onsite most of the time. I provided tile layouts and my own renderings that were more detailed than what EGR provided, and they still tiled wrong. Had I not been home, this would have been even more complicated rework. Another issue happened with the flooring. Luckily, I was on site and caught it. The workers are extremely nice and accommodating. So while the craftsmanship wasn't as great on our bathroom as it was on our kitchen, they ultimately fixed almost everything (so far). The project took 2x as long as planned, but I don't fault EGR as some of it was related to the plumbing supply company sending the wrong part, we had defective grout that had to be redone twice, the glass manufacturer made an error on the shower install, we had to wait for inspection, etc. None of the delay was EGR's fault. And to be honest, the peace and quiet break for a few days at a time was a welcome respite. In both remodels, the workers were kind, easy to talk to, and made an effort to keep the house clean (impossible during a remodel, but they made an effort). Besides the bathroom remodel, we also had them furnish a fireplace mantle, do some general electrical work to get fans installed in all the bedrooms, and put some trim on our pony walls, which all came out great. No remodel ever goes perfectly, but taking what I learned from the kitchen remodel (which did get frustrating), and applying those lessons to this remodel, made things really smooth this time around. read more

We hired Expressions General Remodeling to do a whole house remodel because we were impressed by the work they did in our son's kitchen. Miles came out to give us an estimate and ideas to maximize our space and update the house. He had great suggestions that we loved. He has a very good eye and helped us choose countertops, cabinets, tiles and flooring. We also requested that Luis do the work because our son was really impressed by his workmanship. He did not disappoint, he is a true craftsman, took pride in his work and took care of little details that others would probably overlook. All the workers were punctual and professional . We saw the ad in a booklet from an Art and Wine festival for Expressions General Remodel. We called, met with Miles and then signed a contract to reface cabinets, granite counter tops, and sink. After 3 weeks, I called Miles for a start date. 10 days later, on Friday, the kitchen was demo'd. To our shock and surprise the stove was in the living room, supposed for the duration, the sink was gone !, leaving us with no water in the kitchen for 2 weeks, plus. 5 days went by, hearing from no one, what was next or when. Why would the kitchen be completely emptied on a Friday, leaving us unnecessarily waiting almost a week ? The end of that week started the painting of the cabinets. Our contract read, "Demo kitchen: remove counters, backsplash and doors, no electrical, install sink TBD". Miles told me there would be plywood for counter tops and I would be able to function in the kitchen. Of course, we knew there would be days with no water or use of kitchen, but, our mistake was not getting in writing the series of events, what to expect when, and what happens if progress is not on schedule. (The plumber was kind enough to bring back the stove and the cabinet man brought back the refrigerator). There was a huge misunderstanding concerning the granite. The original order stands in our side yard. Another page we should have details in writing. Some of the sub-contractors were very late, or didn't come at all, no calls. There were several delays. A return because the drawers were cut to big, the granite installer was back a few times, the last return was to cut a hole for the disposal (he was told wrong the first time). The plumber was back to re-install the disposal and anchor the dishwasher that fell forward when I opened it. The demo team took the almost new disposal and faucet, not suppose to. The sub-contractors were without hesitation to repair or re-do any mistakes, and in fact helpful in several small, helpful ways. No shows and being hours late is the negative. On Christmas Day a cabinet door fell off. We called Miles the next day, again, he would "get right back to us". Told him in 8 days we would not be available. Miles did leave a message while we were gone. Upon our return, Jan. 13, we called Miles. He would get back to us. 12 days later, Jan 25, we call the showroom and speak with Janeth, the owner, and she suggest a repair in 2 days. (Email Miles the same day). NO CALLS. Another call to Miles several days later, "Eric didn't get ahold of Judy? he says. WAIT FOR IT, " I'll get right back to you." We had the cabinet contractors card. Called him on Feb 7--he had not heard anything from Miles and he did come TODAY and hung the door. Even with a year warranty--there are no time limits concerning repair. We had a very unpleasant experience with Expressions General Remodel salesman "kyle" who is the guy on their TV ad is actually rude in person. He is your a typical used car salesman. He would not give his clients a chance to read and think over their contract. We are planning for a kitchen remodel for sometime in spring. When he first came over to our house to get an idea what it would cost he told us everything will be included, new appliances, new cabinets and will try to match the floorings. When he showed us the contract the appliances were not included but they will give us a faucet for free their incentive for that day. It was far too high an estimate than what he made us believe. He want us to hand him over a $1,000 right away, and when we repeatedly said we have to think it over because it was way to high our budget he was really upset, he was really rude just pulled the paperwork from us and did not even thank us for our time spent with him. He was pretty intimidating and pressure you to sign the contract. We want other prospective clients to be assertive and do not be intimated with his unprofessional way of getting your business. Mind you we were just there for 30 minutes and he was pressuring you to hand over $1,000 already, unfortunately we are not the new kids in the block; we saw right through this salesman; he told us that he has 100 more leads since his TV ads was airing in half an hour so we better close the deal right away or miss out on all their giveaways. Be aware that when they ask you to hand over money in advance it is your warning sign; it is a red flag; if they are reputable as they say they are they will not pressure you to give them a $1,000 and seriously for what? read more

I carefully checked showroom hours, then showed up on Thursday at 3 pm. What a waste of gas and time - the doors were locked! This locked door had the same hours listed. Do yourself a favor and call ahead. read more

Saw their ad in the penny saver and saw the great deals they had on kitchen remodel. I called and had them give me an estimate great price. Called to get my kitchen remodeled. I end up having them remodel my kitchen, bathroom and install new carpet in my livingroom. They did a great job.... Will use again in my next project. read more

After Talking with their professional and friendly sales rep we decided to go to their show room and without out any doubt we sign the contract . Their started their job on time and without any day delay they finished their job . All of their workers were expert and knew what they were doing . I really enjoyed working with all of them . Contractors were always ready if you had any question . I started just with remodeling the kitchen but when I saw their job I asked them to do the rest of remodeling like bathroom, flooring and lighting . After wanting to remodel our kitchen and bathroom for many years, my wife and i decided it was time. We did some searching around for about a week or so and finally decided on Expressions general remodel company. Went in for a quote, and let me tell you that Janeth aquilar, really made us feel welcomed and comfortable. She sat down with us and was very thorough with every single detail. She was very professional answering every question we had. She gave us a quote of everything we wanted done at an unbeatable price. The day of the install Arnold came on time and fully prepared to tackle down this project. He briefly went through with us what he was going to do each day. This really made us feel we are in good hands and had made the right choice. When the kitchen was finished, my family was extremely impressed with how it turned out. I was personally blown away!!!!! Then they started on our bathroom a few days after the kitchen was finished. Arnold was thorough with us even though our bathroom was a weird design he said he would have to redo the plumbing in order to make sure everything lined up correctly. It didnt seem like a lot of work but it was. They spent almost a week replacing our old tub and laying out our new tile we chose. Everything was done as scheduled. Overall, This was one of the best things we have ever done to our home. I only wish we had done this remodel sooner. We are extremely happy with the outcome.
