I am in the military and needed weight slips to be paid when I PCS. I've stated this everytime I talked to someone. I told the pick up people and the delivery guys. They said that's customer service who does that. I was quoted way off and now may have to pay 15k out of pocket because i cant get weight tickets that i paid $100 for. They said they would take good care of my antique hutches. All 3 were scratched and two were cracked and broke. I have tryed for 2 weeks to contact people and no one will call me back. I was told by Nick he would be there every step of my move and once I paid the 3k up front he stopped helping and just sent preloaded txt for a customer service that you can't leave messages with. This is the worst most corrupt lieing company I've ever dealt with. Do not trust them and the fine print they do not explain what the legal jargon means. read more

Bad move made right: Without going into too much detail we had a bad move. Every company has a bad day, some times people are sick or their are technical difficulties. Express movers worked with us after the move to make sure everything was made right. They even sent us an apology letter. There is no way to predict when things will go wrong, but as a moving company they did everything in their power to make it right. I will be using them again in the future. read more

It was never made clear that travel time to and from their office was also on the clock - if that's the case, it makes sense to go with movers that are closer to you. Our movers clocked another hour with travel time. Secondly, our walls got pretty damaged and I don't believe it's covered in their basic insurance plan. read more

The guy who spoke to me on the phone was either not listening or just un-professional. I was excited about getting a "real" quote from Express because they tout their FREE Estimator will come to the house and give a REAL quote. Nope. I called and the guy on the phone wouldn't let me schedule a free estimate and wouldn't let me submit one online. He kept insisting I talk him through every STEP the movers would be taking. He may have had me on speaker phone because he kept misunderstanding my name/address. Not a good sign! He answered his cell phone while we were talking. It was becoming increasingly difficult to speak to him so I asked him if i could just schedule the estimate.NOPE. I will gladly take my business elsewhere. **Edited after comment** Geez...the last line of ToniP's comment completely reveals how backwards these people are---the POINT of an estimate is to compare (to other businesses) and estimate the expected cost of a job. This is not something that can/should be done the DAY OF a move. Also- I was incredibly clear about the size of the move, but after about 15 minutes going over the details and having to repeat myself I just wanted to schedule the "free walk through estimate." i really liked these guys. they unloaded my truck when i arrived in renton. they were super fast, careful with my stuff and very friendly. they showed up on time, and called when they were leaving their dock so i had an accurate eta. the only thing i didn't like is the company charges for drive time - 30 minutes each way - at the full hourly rate. that's not standard practice in most industries. it should have been half the hourly rate, but whatever. i recommend them and will likely use them the next time i move. read more

These guys were fantastic! After 8 years of moving annually (professionally, cross-country and internationally), this was by far the easiest move we have ever had. If I could give negative Stars I would. WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER. An estimator came to our house and saw all the stuff to be moved. Then they brought a truck that was too small and asked us to move our own stuff in our truck!! They broke alot of stuff because the two skinny wimpy guys they sent can't lift anything. We needed the move done ASAP. So my husband did it. They did not give us a refund but did post our name along with other former customers who complained about their company on another review site. Talk about low. Despite many efforts and the fact that posting customer personal info is a violation of the other websites TOS. Our names along with other customers is still posted on it. Probably because they pay for advertising it. Skip this company and hire someone more professional. If they know the name of the customer when it's anonymous, there has to be some truth the other bad reviews. HORRIBLE COMPANY! MESSAGE TO OWNERS: , No I'm not confusing you with another company. It was Express Movers and no we did not move from an apartment, a two story townhouse with a garage full of stuff and you brought your smallest truck. NO I'm not the one who wanted you to shove furniture between walls. Don't know why anyone would want to ruin their furniture. We hired this company for a 2 bedroom condo truck loading service in June 2010. They were very nice, but the team lacked loading experience. Unfortunately, we had a few very damaged items when we arrived in California. I recommend you use Express Movers, BUT YOU'LL NEED TO WATCH EVERY MOVE THEIR MOVERS MAKE. Do not assume they will pack your belongings with care or with correct technique to avoid damage. In our case, they put heavy metal items on top of wood furniture and after 1100 miles of driving the damage was done! After two months of providing pictures and receipts the owner told us they were not responsible and even if they were responsible we would be reimbursed at 36 cents per pound. read more

They were comforting, honest, and took their time explaining how they work. They responded quickly and were very accommodating. They also sent out someone to our house to validate that their estimate was correct. We did a two day move and both days the team was on time, friendly, extremely hard working, careful, and conscientious. They were expeditious, yet took their time being careful with our fragile items. They also engaged in conversation to make sure they understood the logistics and any special concerns we had. I've moved 9 times in 10 years and for this most recent one I decided to break down and hire movers. It was the best money I've ever spent. They were able to schedule me with less than 2 weeks notice which other companies could not do. When they arrived (on time!) all three guys were friendly, courteous, professional, and fun to have around. From the time they arrived to the time they left the new house was a total of 3.5 hours - much less than estimated. They were very careful with my things - nothing was damaged, including my Ikea and Target furniture. I highly recommend hiring these guys. Hopefully I won't be moving again for a long time but when I do I will hire them again in a second. read more

Wow, I really liked these guys. Even with lots of stairs and a grumpy neighbor that made them move the truck, the three movers kept working without pause. I was happy they put all the furniture and boxes in the right rooms so unpacking is easier. The bill was a little less than expected, a and that was nice too. Only downside is I got voicemail the first couple times I called, but they called back in a couple hours. I'd use this company again. read more

We used Express Movers in December. I liked the intake call. The woman had a lot of questions but it seemed to really help narrow down size of the truck, how many movers, etc. She also went out of her way to make other suggestions to help save us time and money. The movers were on time (even a little early), fast, efficient and professional. There were small "extras" we noticed days after the move. They did some extra labeling of nuts/bolts/furniture pieces that were labeled and secured in ways that again weren't expected but really saved us headaches when we started unpacking and reassembling. The guys also worked hard to help get around unexpected traffic delays from sports events. (again saving us time and money). Nice people, nice work, everything went just as promised. Thanks! First off, James and Sean who moved us on 4/30 were awesome! I had many heavy items to move and they were extremely fast but very careful. Everything was wrapped up with care so nothing got scratched or damaged. And they had to contend with 2 narrow flights of stairs and my wife's beast of a china hutch. They were very professional and friendly. I'd highly recommend asking for these guys! Unfortunately, this experience was marred by the fact that management failed to enter our move date into their schedule. I hadn't heard from any one the day of the move, so i called to confirm. Apparently, our information was never entered into the system, but our credit card was conveniently charged for the deposit. Leah (I think this is who helped me on the phone) found all of our information on the original schedulers desk. She was extremely apologetic and was able to round up James and Sean last minute to come out after 6:00pm. While all this caused quite a panic, the company did right in getting us moved that day and even gave a discount for all the trouble. I would recommend this company as the movers were extremely competent and careful, just make sure to call a day or so a head of time to make sure management puts you into the system! read more

This was my first time hiring a moving company even though I have moved 3 times. I was very impressed with the way they handled every detail from the moment they answered the first phone call all the way to the end of the move. I can't remember her name but the owner answered the phone when I first called in. She was very thorough in laying out the expectations and took the time to explain many details. The next phase was having someone come out and do an estimate. Myron came to our home and gave us an estimate and explained that state law prohibits them from going over that estimate by a certain percentage (I would have to get that too as I can't recall the exact percentage.) On moving day, Myron and his team of Danny, Orin and Brett (we wrote it down!) came on time. They went right to work and not only moved everything but wrapped anything that could be hurt and did a great job. They were done before the estimated time and as they left we breathed a sigh of relief because most of the hard, heavy labor had been done for us. I felt their price was extremely reasonable and their people are very nice. I would definitely use them again or recommend them to a friend. read more

This is the second time my husband and I have used Express Movers. Each time, we have been pleased with the politeness and professionalism of our movers. This time I've had to rate them a bit lower because several pieces of our furniture received dings and marks during the course of the move, but we unfortunately didn't notice them until after the guys were already gone. Trevor, Von, and Nelson were super nice and worked tirelessly to try to get a sofa into our basement around some very tight corners. One note I will mention (and this occurred both times I've scheduled movers) is that it takes persistence to get through to someone. I've had to call on a daily basis and leave messages. Only one message (out of about 10) was returned. Just keep calling until you get through...you eventually will get a person on the other end. read more

I feel like I should have left several reviews at this point, but I'm sorry i'm lazy about this! I have used EXPRESS MOVERS about 4 times now, and my parents have used them twice. Honestly, I feel bad some of other people such bad experiences with them. Every interaction I have had with express movers has been wonderful. The office staff is always super friendly and helpful, their estimates are always on point or even a little higher than what I end up paying. The crew is always funny and VERY FAST. Only once did we have a crew that was a little slow, but it was because 2 of the 3 crew members were new and training, so the next time we just requested veteran members. The whole company seems to have a quirky sense of humor, and are a little off beat, which I think may be throwing some people off in regards to their interactions with them. They're right on my wavelength though so I've always enjoyed hanging out with their movers when they have come over and talking to their office staff before and after the move. I am referring a friend to them right now so hopefully she will have as good of an experience as I! :D read more

My home was flooded in 2006. Express Movers, which I found highly rated on Angie's List and by others, moved all of my belongings out of my home, then moved them into their "private storage" facility (this means that the customer is disallowed from going to see their belongings). Instead, when I needed to get something, they brought the piece out for me to deal with: when this happened, the desk, in this case, was clearly damaged and broken. We were concerned ... even though they reported fixing the leg of it, they didn't ever repair the broken drawer, cracked desktop, etc. They held my belongings in this private storage area for a long time, 2.5 years, while the house was being rebuilt. It needed to be properly stored, and wasn't. I was reassured by Toni in the front room that they had insurance, so that if there were any problems they were all covered by that insurance. That was all she said. Come moving-back-in day ... I had a very expensive orthopedic bed that I need for my disability, which I carefully advised and provided information to them as to how to transport and store it. Along with showing up with no bed bags or boxes, which they promised they would put the bed in once at their storage facility - and didn't, so it was ripped, filthy, and stunk - they damaged and broke the bed to the point that it requires being replaced. They also broke an antique glass light fixture, the glass out of an antique hutch (because they didn't transport it upright - even I, not a mover, know better), and a desk. A leather chair was spotted, torn and faded from being left, unprotected, possibly in the sun. The clothes that they took were thrown into a corner, so were filthy, wrinkled, and stunk when I got them back. All of the hanging clothing containers were greasy and broken. They promised that they would keep things safe and clean, but they were covered with dust, filth, and grime. I had an expensive piece of imported, hand-crafted exercise equipment that they lost a part of - I have never seen it since - and dinged and banged up the remaining part. They also got spots all over my brand new white carpet and gouged the brand new walls (even while I implored them to be careful.) There were even 2 articles that did not belong to me - which I sent back with them. I wonder if they ever were given to their rightful owner?!! On the day of the move-in, without any prior information given about this, the head of the moving team suddenly informed me that they take tips and what did I wish to tip? I was so stunned already with what I had to deal with, and at their high costs for so much delivered damage, I did not keep a straight head on about this, and felt - and was - taken advantage of. When trying to contact the provider about my damaged possessions, and the movers' actions, my experience, they (Toni, most particularly) were very shrill. They said that they would send me forms, which I never received. They never advised me of the different levels of insurance, evidently checking a box that I never checked nor knew of in the original contract the day they picked up my things. They had no interest in dealing with the issue, and took offense at my being upset and telling them the problems. God forbid they would do what they said they would do, calmly listen to the complaints, apologize, state again they would make good, follow through by coming over to inspect the damage and personally make certain it was rectified. There was a 9 month deadline which I didn't know about and evidently missed while trying to carefully compile all the estimates for all the damage they did for reimbursement - all while fighting pneumonia and disability. The most amazing thing was that they had and have absolutely no interest in trying to rectify their errors, regardless of the time frame. Everything was according to some book of rules they just kind of neglected to tell me. When I attempted to speak with them about this, a form note was sent indicating that they would not seek to help in any way. Express Movers likes to pride themselves as being such great movers, while they did this to my house and belongings. At a time of unexpected difficulty, when I most depended up on them to have integrity and do what they said they would do, my experience was that they were predatory: they just took advantage of it in every way that they could. I would avoid them like the plague. Do not use this company. There are others much more principled and that deliver - in more ways than one. read more

It took me 3 months to calm down and write this review. Moved 26 miles across Seattle. Had an elderly man with a bad back, an obese gentleman, and 2 younger fellas help us move. Broke my head board with in 5 minutes of moving. Received a comment about how nice it was the all the boxes were ready and stacked in my garage so not sure why it took them 14 hours to move us. Before leaving my old house for good, went to use restroom and they clogged my toilet.(got to go back 3 days later to unclog) When we got to my new house I had thought I was paying professionals to unload where I wanted and help set up all my furniture. It got so bad the me, my wife, my nanny, and sister were helping unload. At the end I was so frustrated I had them place my furniture in the garage and I had to put together at a later time. They wanted to give me $60 to replace a $1000 ruined bed frame. I said unacceptable. The owner called me 12 hours into the move to explain the reason why for the low ball offer. I told Toni that 12 hours into a move with crying children and frustrated customers was not a good time to settle a complaint. She ended up taking a couple hundred dollars off the bill because they did not complete the job and broke our head board. We were able to replace the broken part for $400(Toni proactively called and misqouted at $300). We never agreed to the final bill although she pointed out that they had a contract and didn't need to negotiate. Toni will reply to this like a proactive owner but our final discussion was about her going out and observing her employees so she can witness the qualify of work which I am sure she hasn't. Hindsight I would've had better service hiring my buddies. Go elsewhere for a mover. read more

Express Movers were awesome for me and our move. We moved from a town home with many stairs and packed our own stuff the best we could (very unprofessionally I may add!). We had to move out into storage with express movers. We couldn't close on our new home when we thought and were delayed as to when we could move in. Express movers happily accommodated us in storing our belongings longer and moving our move-in date. They were very careful and worked very hard and fast on 2 very hot summer days. I dealt with Myron and James the most (who were great) and the crews were awesome (cant remember all the names). I liked that they were always on time and communicated well. When the other bidders (some flaked) were late, told me what they wouldn't move, (like big screen, drum sets) Express Movers were enthusiastic to do the job and would do the entire job. I had a framed original piece of art which the glass was broken. Express movers paid me a check for the entire repair cost of the glass/frame repair. I liked dealing with Express movers, their bid was competitive, not the cheapest but very competitive. I was won over by the excellent city search reviews and the can do attitude, plus they gave me good vibes, not like some of the weirdo moving bidders I spoke with. There is alot of trust involved with someone handling/storing/moving all of your valuables and possessions :) I was impressed that they wanted to beat the bid in terms of time/cost and was happy to deal with a local, family business. Family owned and operated business and they seem to take good care of their employees. Moving is tough, physical work that usually entails unexpected surprises and chaos even with good advanced planning. THE move is literally in process so will have to update this once move is complete. 4PM update: I've looked more closely at the website and none of the photos of the 'movers' they have posted are part of the crew I have today, nor do any of them fit the grossly unfit overweight proportions of 2 of my crew. I think this company would have the potential to be good if it had trucks with ramps that worked out both the side and back (for some reason my crew are telling me they don't). When this is the case with any other company/crew who are in good shape - it allows the men to pile numerous boxes on the trolleys and just wheel them straight in one right after the other. These guys (especially the 2 overweight guys) are carrying boxes (even though they have trolleys) one by one from where they originated in the house to a big heap outside the back end of the truck & at some point one will start lifting one box at a time up to the other. HUGE TIME & $ COMSUMPTION! 2PM update: I agree with others who have posted on here about the person who answers the phone at their Seattle office not being completely 'available'. Not sure if that has to do with deficient mental faculties or something else. Hired them as it was a last minute move and they were the only ones that had an opening. 2 days after I talked to the 'initial guy' (who yes - spent 1/2 hour on the phone with me asking all sorts of irrelevant questions and not seeming like he was really 'hearing' my answers) - I get a call from another guy from the company who had been looking through what the first guy had written up and he had questions about things; which he wanted to clarify and the clarifications absolutely proved that the first guy really really had NOT listened to what I was saying. Move day (today) on crew arrival - they had received incorrect information as well from one of these guys also........ (communication issues in house) Day of move (75% of our house is already packed in boxes). I was told by both the first guy I talked with and the 2nd guy that I would get a call from the crew when they left which would be 7:30 at the latest and possibly by 7am. Since there was a good amount of stuff to be loaded I was really hoping they would be on time, very focused guys so we could load and unload all in one day which I had been told would not be a problem. I awake at 5am to try to get somethings pre-ready. I finally get a call from them at about 7:50. I'm thinking NOT GOOD. They tell me they will arrive in 15 min. They do. The group of 4 is made up of 2 that are so overweight it is hard to tell if they even have the muscle to be in this business and they are ambling around the house incredibly slowly. There is only 1 of the 4 who is tall and lean and he is packing the kitchen which is not all that big, but still has taken him from about 8:30 until going on 2pm now and he's still on that one job. Surprisingly he occasionally moans and continually sighs as if he's being put out. He makes a comment about understanding why I (or my husband) can't jump in and help (we've both had back surgeries and are not supposed to lift weight in these ways). As I am sitting in the same room I am also hearing him clink our kitchen goods constantly and wonder how I'll find them on the other side. It also takes me aback that he even makes a judgement comment such as he does about my husband and I not packing etc with them........even if we had no physical limitations but were just sick of doing our own moves - the reality of making that decision provides him a job. Regardless of our reasons. I've used other moving companies where the men are very strong & honed, focused and incredibly professional. They are not overweight guys who amble around at a slow pace as if that would be to much exertion including in the work they do. I guess the other crews I've worked with - probably are NOT overweight because they are working hard and exerting themselves and doing so purposefully and professionally given the job they are doing. It is going beyond 2pm. I'll be amazed if we get out of house #1 and over into house #2 in this same day. These guys bill by the hour as well. Other companies do too. However I've had the advantage of seeing other companies who are 'on' work and how fast the work can go. I don't know if these guys are truly as amazingly slow as they seem or if they are purposefully ambling slowly around in this process to gain extra billable hours. At the rate we are going the estimate of $2000 (already inflated) looks like it could easily be $2500 or more. I've had our house moved enough times before, and recently enough to know that with a hard working professional crew that has good trucks and equipment - this move; in reality should not be billed beyond $1500 ( with tips as extra on top). When I hired Express Movers for my mom, I was impressed with the ease of the move and how pleasant the movers were. Unfortunately, once things were transported, we discovered that many collectible items were broken or damaged, including a 35 year old grandfather clock. Instead of taking responsibility and apologizing, Toni, the moving manager, blamed us for the damage and went as far to say I can use a marker to cover up the damage or order replacement glass from Neiman Marcus. My wife got a coupon and decided to hire Express Movers. Two very friendly and careful guys showed up with their truck and made short work of the moving effort. It was from a house to an apartment on the sixth floor of a building via elevator. Best move ever. And, the company didn't try to "nickel and dime" me with extra add-on charges like some movers do. We knew up front what we were paying and they stuck with that. read more

These guys really helped me out. I was able to call and schedule an appointment for a reasonable time with ease. When Matt and Jason arrived, they were on tine and ready to work. They took excellent care of all of my furniture and were very helpful and accommodating throughout this process. They worked very fast and went above and beyond to make sure that they provided me with as much help as they could with moving as well and placing my furniture in my new apartment. They left no mess behind and took special care to protect the carpet at both locations and they removed all packing materials when they left.
