Express Haulers Moving company helped us with our local move this past week. I was very impressed! I probably sent about 6 requests for quote out to different companies and Lynn at Express Haulers was the first to call me within a minute of sending the request, and the only one persistently following up with me. I told every company that we have a small move as we had been moving things little by little by ourselves, only Lynn provided me with the lowest minimum hours and competitive pricing. When I said I would get back to her, I appreciated her persistence in following up. They estimated 2.5 hours of work and Carlos and his team did a great job efficiently moving things, only took 30 more minutes than they estimated. They also didn't have any hidden charge for wrapping material for couch etc. My husband at the receiving address said they were very careful with our newly renovated home, the floor, the wall etc as they moved and assembled furniture. After the move, the owner Diego himself reached out to check in and asked for feedback. As somebody running a business myself and working with business owners, I really appreciate how they run their business, the efficiency, the flexibility and the care. I was impressed by good reviews so I went into my move feeling confident, but I did not have a good experience. First, I had a call in which I listed everything in my house - this is not a situation where I actually had a lot more than I disclosed - if anything, there were a few items my husband and I moved ourselves, so there was less to move than I shared. I was quoted 5.2 hours but was told I would have to pay 4 hours minimum, no matter what. Fine, that made sense. The movers were prompt and at first, everything went fine; it even seemed like we'd be done in around 4 hours. Then everything slowed way down. They had one person whose job it was to disassemble the furniture, so he was tied up the entire time; another person stood with the truck and moved virtually nothing, so of the 4 person team, about 2 were actively moving me. Also, one of the guys started throwing my couch cushions from my second floor balcony down to the truck, which horrified me. By the time we got to my new house, it got worse. The person responsible for assembling furniture didn't get to work right away, so at the end, everyone was just sitting around while he kept working. He and another of the guys also got into a huge screaming match in my bedroom, which was totally inappropriate. Other than that, they showed up in an unmarked Penske truck, which we were not expecting. The guys were all perfectly nice, so the two stars are for them. We ended up paying for a 6.5 hour move (and we still tipped!) but we expressed how disappointed we were, both to the movers and the office staff member who called on the day of the move. We were told someone would reach out, but it's been three weeks and we've heard nothing. I would go elsewhere with your hard earned money if you are looking for a seamless move - this wasn't it. read more

Overall the move went well. The reason for the low score is the price went from $900 to $1200 and after completion the price was $1500. *OF IMPORTANCE* This company hires day workers. They hire freelancers, and the guys rent their own truck....penske/hertz. This is not a company with their own trucks. When you book a mover, simple questions like "how many rooms, what is inside" does not make for clear info for a quote. I moved within the same town...the houses were 15 minutes from each other. the movers disappeared for 45 minutes between houses. They can eat. i hope i wasn't billed for that. They came with a 26' truck. Everything fit. but somehow things took longer than expected. For the quote, i told them everything i had including 60-70 boxes...which was true. But i was billed more than the quote. The guys did a good job. The guys were professional. But truth is truth. Cost 20% more than quoted AND they wanted a tip (which i gave because it went to the guys..not the company). I don't want to do that job....but business is business. you can't low-ball customers. read more

Their prices were significantly ($500-700) cheaper than every other business that responded and offered a flat rate with their quote. The team was prompt, efficient and extremely careful with our furniture. Everything was wrapped meticulously. They tried their best to avoid any damage to our walls and staircase which moving into an old house with a narrow and short stairwell was tricky, but they worked carefully and didn't rush. They listened to our considerations on where we wanted our things and moved a few when we changed our minds. The quote actually ended up being slightly higher than what we paid which was a wonderful surprise given the prices were already fantastic. Was moving about 13 miles away from a 1br in a building into a 2br in a house and knew I needed to have movers to move the furniture although I wanted to move all the small things myself.
