I recently brought my F250 in for some exhaust work. They did a horrible job. They used to be good when the other welder used to work there. They took off heavy duty exhaust hanger and tried to weld their cheap hanger on only to fail in less than a week. I went to back and told them what happened, and the bearded owner said that's not one of mine. I showed him the receipt, and he backtracked, only to try to weld on the exact same hanger that failed from a week before. Their prices are high compared to other shops, but they used to do quality work and it was worth it, but not anymore. read more

I took two vehicles to Exhaust Authority and they both turned out great. The Cadillac had a rusted center muffler that was coming apart and I asked them if they could weeks in a straight pipe instead. They agreed and welded together a professional, clean looking y-pipe to replace it. The other vehicle was a 1951 Bentley that needed some welding done to the rear axle perches. Repairing exhaust manifolds on a 32-year old truck with 281,000 miles is not for the faint of heart. Tommy and Jay showed no fear and demonstrated "old school" craftmanship while removing two broken bolts (one actually countersunk) and getting these old manifolds to seal like new again. FIVE STARS! It's more than a muffler shop! This place was recommended to me by a friend at work. I had a wheel bearing issue. I researched Brakes Plus but the reviews were horrible. I also didn't like their estimate. I love Christian Brothers, but their estimate was $750. (It was a rough estimate without really looking into the problem). Going off of my friend's recommendation, I stopped by Exhaust Authority. I was told to ask for Jay. You can't miss Jay! Jay is a big butyl dude with a long beard. He looks like he owns every season of Duck Dynasty and has three Harley Davidson choppers in the back of his shop. He's a real straight-shooter with a sense of humor. I was asking about his schedule for the following week and he responds with, "Well I don't know. My crystal ball is in the shop." While he was looking at my car, I was talking to a young lady at the shop who was still in high school. She told me that he was teaching her more about cars than she was learning at school. This was more confirmation that I was at the right place. After looking at my car, he gives me his diagnosis with a series of F-bombs. I knew that I liked him already. He was very honest with me about the fact that I only had to replace the wheel bearing one side of my car. He didn't try to up-sell me on "special" parts. I was in and out in about an hour. Final price was $270 and my car drives like the first day I bought it. Jay is very honest, very reliable, and a great guy. The work was done correctly the first time and the price was fair. I can not say enough about the quality of service I received from Tommy and Jay. I came to them in desperation to resolve a minor problem that 3 other shops had previously failed to find a fix for. Tommy and Jay worked together to not only find and fix the problem in record amount of time, but also welded the spot in question. I was so thrilled with the work that I ordered shocks, steering stabilizer, headers and had Tommy weld in a brand new muffler while I was there. Horrible customer service. Had an appointment for 2pm got there 20 minutes earlier cause I was in the area, not expecting to be seen yet. I get inside and I'm told the only guy that could work on my car was at a doctors appointment. So I said I'd wait. Then 2:10 hits and the guy calls the shop to talk to his guy and all I hear was him saying he got out of his appointment and was headed back but still had 30-40 minutes left on another car before he could work on my car and how it wasn't his fault that I came early. Not once did he call me to let me know he wouldn't be there on time or offer a discount for the time spent on waiting longer than I was supposed to. Don't waste your time going here. read more

I have come here for 3 cars in the past to do a muffler delete. It was done quickly and efficiently until this time. I had a muffler delete done and it sounded great, until I went full throttle. It sounded like there was a leak, or something as there was an incredibly loud wailing noise. Took it back, they looked at it said there might have been something there. I drove it again, same thing. They told me this is just what happens when you do a muffler delete, wouldn't do anything to fix the issue. Went to another store, they took one look at it - said it was poorly done and a muffler delete alone wouldn't cause this. They fixed it for cheap by rewelding everything and the car sounds great, no muffler and no howling noise. Good work in the past, but not this time. Take the good reviews with a grain of salt. read more

Terrible service. Dump of an environment. I was somehow refered to this place by the station that was performing my Texas state inspection. I parked outside of an open bay at 9am, and went inside. I made every effort to get a response/greeting of any sort (including walking through the shop-floor), but was completely ignored. The reception area was as much of a dump as the rest of the shop, and the only thing more unbelievable was complete & utter lack of customer service. I found Pronto Exhaust & Muffler on Yelp, and received 100% better service in a clean, professional environment. It literally took Pronto a few minutes more to replace my convertors than I spent at Exhaust Authority being ignored. Amazing. read more

Terrible service. They know how to make appointments, they just haven't figured out how to honor appointments. Made an appointment 2 days in advance. Got there and one guy told me it would be 15-20 minutes. Waited 25 minutes and was told by a different guy that the first guy isn't good with appointments and it would be another hour or so. Honest and helpful. I was told something was wrong with my catalytic converter. These guys checked it out, called me and said it didn't need to be replaced, just needed a sensor replaced. They easily could have easily told me I'd need a new converter, but they were honest about the repair and I think that means a lot.
