Called in, spoke to a guy named JJ, he was friendly but very vague. I asked him if his diagnostic ($100, absorbed into cost of service if I proceed) included a pressure test or just a visual inspection... And he basically got combative after that and wouldn't say... Just saying "you know I look at it and tell you what's wrong with it, we'll figure it out, you know".... And then I was like no I don't know because I already wasted time bringing this to one shop and everyone's giving me different answers. So he then says that you know what I'm probably not the right shop for you... At least he realized he couldn't rip me off and told me the truth instead of getting me there and wasting my time. But it's a shame that you couldn't just be honest with what his inspection process is... Even if it was a higher fee to have the pressure test done or something (I know enough to know that to provide a good level of certainly in diagnosing the issue a pressure test is necessary, and even more comprehensive would be to take apart the system but I understand that might be overkill for a simple diagnosis of this particular issue. In this case... My friend has a coolant leak... So you can clearly see it's leaking from the bottom of the vehicle, but who's to say that that's the only issue? And it's unfortunately a historically habitual problem in the industry for work to be done only for more work to be needed because the diagnosis wasn't done right in the first place. (and I'm talking separately from initial estimates like if you have a front end collision and then needing a deeper estimate... this issue at hand is a simple coolant leak that should be able to be a diagnosed with a pretty strong level of certainty prior to the work being authorized & they should stand by that approach. Or maybe he doesn't even have the equipment to do a pressure test, who knows? I'm trying to just make sure that everything is done as efficiently as possible. Why is there a consistent theme amongst these independent auto shops that it's basically okay to waste my time, or trying to convince me it's okay to do business with them under "trust" (which is laughable not only with their terrible reviews but due to the reputation of consumers being ripped off) without confirming what exactly they are doing, overcharge fees, committing to diagnosing only to have no guarantee that I won't have to pay another overpriced diagnostic fee if their diagnostic, and repair, doesn't resolve the issue....etc..... There has to be a better way for independent auto repair shops to operate... There needs to be better options and then consumers can make a choice to do business with the operators that actually are transparent about things. Then operators like this won't make enough $$ to stay in business. Who knows, maybe AI will help create these better shops.... At least AI could run variables on likelihood of the issue being resolved based on aggregated and anonymized data for multiple shops or something. I just hope the nonsense stops!! If not, perhaps a company can come along that can somehow aggregate repair data (even if gathering the data direct from consumers via marketing, old school public survey campaigns, and public source data & internet "scraping" who will then submit complaint reports to the government agencies that can force these companies to operate better (maybe the FTC). I'm not a big fan of government oversight and regulations, but enough is enough, these businesses are just asking for a responsible party to come in and protect us consumers from their shady ways!!! read more

I came today with concern of what seemed of a broken wheel baring. I expressed that to the desk guy, he insured he would check it out give him an hour so I agree. About 25 mins passed, and I get an alert on my phone that my vehicle was traveling yet I'm sitting in the lobby. I walk out to see if maybe they moved it to the garage to work on it...that wasn't the case so I located the front desk rep and asked is there a reason someone is driving around in my car, he stated that they were doing a diagnostic. (I've been coming to this location for sometime now and got a diagnostic 3 times with them on my other cars, never once did they drive my vehicle around for 15 mins). I told the rep exactly that and his response with an aggressive tone in a manner was "you can just take your keys back" so I agreed waited another 5 mins for them to return in my car which totaled to a 20 min joyride and I left. read more

Coit Auto Center replaced the battery that had died the prior day. They were able to provide very fast service. I arrived there with the car, around 1:40 p.m. and was able to leave with the newly installed battery at about 3:10 p.m. That turnaround included their ordering the battery, its being delivered there, and then the installation. Kudos also are for Abed of AAA United LLC Towing. He originally was sent by State Farm to tow the car to a dealership. However, that dealership had a 2-week backlog of service work. When Abed arrived, he charged the old battery so that the car could be driven to a mechanic. He actually came out twice on the same day, as the car battery died twice. The second time was when the car was left running so I could take it asap to the mechanic (Coit Auto Center). read more

They recently did spark plugs on my 2018 Audi A5 for a fraction that the dealer would charge & patched a hole in my girlfriend's tire, in and out, for $10. Everything was good, until one morning I came to do oil change and the honer and manger there, for no reason started to talk to me very rude, he says "get the fuck out of here", I don't want to do oil change for you!", I wad trying to understand what's happened and why he talk to me like that when I'm a loyal customer who comes all the time to fix my car there. And he just says: "you don't respect me", without explaining anything. I was trying to calm him down but it didn't help, so I just left and told him that I'll never come there again! Looks like they don't respect their customers and don't have a good customer service. I am very disappointed. I have a reason to think that he treated me like that just because he found out I am Jewish, and they are all Muslim Arabs, but I can't prove it. Had a great experience! I stumbled into this place last week, when I was trying to get my tires aligned on Fathers Day, and struck out of calling all my "regular" auto shops. Rami was very nice, and able to fit me in. He got my car inspection, tires rotated and balanced for $90. He did tell me about the status of my brakes, and did not upsell me. He gave me a very honest quote and time-line. It is an easy place to miss when driving down Frankford, but I will be returning. read more
