I brought my Volkswagens here after both the headlights went out at the same time. I was concerned there might be an electrical issue. They were an extremely busy and didn't have an open appointment for about a month, but they said they would do their best to fit it in. They guys in the office were super kind and professional. They called me later that day, it was just the bulbs, which they had replaced. They charged me $0. I'm speechless. I didn't know people still did things like that. They also vacuumed the car out. May 4, 2026.....I am 76 years old (driving since age 16)...I have owned several different cars (mostly sportscars over the years - and have used many different auto shops & dealerships for maintenance. "Autobahn Service Center" of Plano, Texas (hands down) is the BEST auto shop I have ever used!!! I own a 1997 BMW Z3 Roadster (convertible) 5 Speed that I have completely restored. Autobahn has replaced my clutch & flywheel; new Struts & Shocks; Battery; (2) serpentine hoses in the engine compartment; a couple of exterior lights that needed replacing; Oil & Oil Filter Changes & more. I've been taking my BMW 5 series X Drive to Sewell BMW in Plano for the past 8 years. I spent $2000 in repair work this past Jan. Recently, my water pump went and Sewell BMW gave me a $2600.00 repair estimate to replace my water pump. I am unemployed at the moment and that is a lot of money. I asked Sewell to work with me since I've been a loyal customer. They refused! I made some calls to local foreign car repair shops and I was fortunate to find Autobahn Service Center. They treated me like a family member coming to them for HELP. They worked with me and gave me a much lower quote. They offered me a ride home since I have one car. Then they fixed my car! I take my 27 year old Audi here whenever I can't perform a repair or do maintenance, and they perform outstanding service while prices being reasonable. Brought in a 2008 e350 for an alignment. Said they needed a part to do it. 3 ++ hours later.....the car already had the part installed. WOW they apparently don't know BENZ claiming European. And then told me to look at a collision center for assistance. They don't have the complete alignment tools for Mercedes vehicles. 1car owner. No accident car. And still charged me for an alignment they could not bring in to specs with no bad ball joints or anything else. read more

Alan was very transparent and helpful. I think think is a very fair shop and you wont get the same consideration from the dealership. They swapped a couple extra seals at cost since they were "already in there" and no additional labor was required to access. Can't see this happening at the dealership where you're often charged whatever the assigned labor hours are per job. Also went out of his way to give me some direction on a larger issue that I may be able to take up with Audi and get covered under a service bulletin. Only downside was the loaner car was old (2004) and headlights weren't aligned well for night driving. One thing to note is that a loaner is a decision point for me to choose a shop as I don't like the extra steps & cost of arranging a rental. read more

My recent experience with Autobahn Service Center was nothing short of excellent. My Acura ILX was having trouble starting so I brought it to a local dealership for a diagnostic test. The price they quoted me was absolutely absurd considering the cost of the part. Fortunately, I remembered that my auto glass repairman had recommended Autobahn Service Center as an honest mechanic, so I gave them a call even though Plano is a bit of a haul for me. I'm so glad that I did! They replaced my starter and changed my oil within a few hours. They didn't even have the starter in stock at the time I dropped my car off, so I was floored by how fast they were able to get this done. To top it all off, the cost to replace my starter and change my oil was LESS THAN HALF the cost that the dealership had quoted me just to replace my starter! I would recommend these guys to anybody. I decided it would be fun to look into purchasing me a second car. We found this place on yelp and decided it would be smart to get a pre-purchase inspection done before we got too far into talking financials with the seller. I made an appointment with Autobahn. The place has a very nice waiting area with free drinks and snacks for customers. Plus they also have Wi-Fi in case you decide to wait and still need to have internet access. :) The mechanics went through the entire car with what must have been a magnifying glass because they presented me with a list of major repairs the car needed in order to make it dependable. Yes, I paid $100 for the inspection but it was money well spent. Once it was clear the repairs would cost more money than the car was even worth I was given advice on the years and makes of cars that would fit my criteria well and be a good vehicle. If I do decide to continue the search for a fun vehicle I will definitely return to Autobahn for an inspection. read more

I am new to the area and saw Autobahn had great reviews. It's an easy choice if your looking to get your car fixed. I called around to 5-7 places to get quotes to replace a cracked rim. Most of the quotes ranged from $45-$50 to put on a new rim and balance the wheels, but Autobahn quoted me significantly less. They offered me multiple options, and the service was quick. All of this is what you expect from a mechanic except for such great prices, which was an added bonus, but on top of this they even washed my car for no charge... I was very happy with this, as I was going to get a wash anyways. The price of the service was as much as a car wash would've been. I also forgot my cracked rim at their store and they offered to drive it back to my house. OVERALL: Great experience for a first time customer who's new to the area. 6/5 stars read more

Being new to the area, it really sucks to have to find a good trust worthy mechanic all over again. Alot of my neighbors on NextDoor app recommended Autobahn so I thought I might give it a try. They fixed my A/C in my Audi and replaced the brakes. Not knowing alot about cars, I asked my friend who is an Audi/Porsche mechanic (out of state) about the price and the brakes part Autobahn would use and he thought I was getting an excellent deal. This says alot!! I also took my Lexus CT in to have my brakes checked after a coworker's uncle (who is a mechanic) said I needed new brakes. I didn't believe him so I decided to have Autobahn check it out. They said my brakes were just fine and nothing needs to be done. If a shop checks your car for you for free and tells you that nothing needs to be done to your car and then send you home...you know they are their to help and not take advantage of the situation. We have 3 European Cars in the family and I was tired of going to dealership to over pay or to local repair shops (I live in Prosper, TX) that did not focus on foreign cars and would often misdiagnose the issue so I would end up paying twice. It was a great experience. I felt the items they identified were spot on and the rates were way more reasonable that a dealership. I could tell immediately when I drove off the car was driving better and the issues had been fixed. So grateful I found this place thanks to Yelpers. In a year and a half, they have worked on 4 different import vehicles of ours - a classic & a fairly new BMW, a classic Mercedes, & an Acura. So my report is from many visits, quite varied issues, & varied ages of vehicles. Every time they are very straightforward about what is wrong, how much it will cost, and how long it will take. They are no fluff, very honest and realistic. Waiting room is comfortable, free Wi-Fi, beverages and a few snacks, clean attractive restroom - rare in an independent auto shop. There's NO bait & switch or upsell. Recently we had a headlight problem, they thought they fixed it. By the time I got home it was not working again. Howard apologized but without arse-kiss (awesome, not necessary), credited us with the unnecessary new light bulb and labor, then fixed the deeper issue when I had time to get the car back to them. I appreciate the easy key drop after hours, so much better then fighting traffic to get there before they close so they can start in the early a.m. CALL for an appointment, they are great at assessing when they can get to work on your vehicle. read more

I Called for a quote on a 60,000 mile service on my GLK 350, + a new battery. Was quoted between $250 - $325 for the service, and $180 - $275 for the battery. Fine, dropped my vehicle off in the morning and received a call later that day that the brake fluid needed to be flushed and the spark plugs needed to be replaced - part of the 60,000 mile service, but not included in the quote? And incidentally, there's an oil leak and the rear break pads will need to be replaced within the next thousand miles. I OK'd the additional work, and now I'm at roughly $1500. No one said owning a Mercedes is cheap, and I prefer that my wife is safe while driving the vehicle. Get a call the next day that they had trouble starting the vehicle, and that the battery won't hold a charge. Really? I mentioned that when I called - and I assumed that was included in the price I was quoted the previous day. But it wasn't - it's an additional $271.00. That's not to say that this is a terrible auto shop - my first visit here was to replace a bulb, and they did it for free. The waiting area is nice - clean, quiet, with coffee and pastries. They'll also offer you a ride to work or home if it's close to their shop, although that's fairly standard nowadays. However, the wildly inaccurate quote. The check engine light lighting up the next day. The dent in my hood like someone wasn't careful closing it. And really - discovering by accident one of the issues that I specifically mentioned. I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more
