I made an appointment for an emissions test and oil/filter change. At the time, I made it clear that I already had the oil and filter - the car requires oil with a BMW certification. When I arrived, I was told they would not install a customer-supplied oil filter, as they were worried about responsibility if it failed. Two problems with this: - The filter was Purolator, a reputable brand. It's as reliable as any on the market. Claiming it's a risk to the car is ridiculous, as is the idea that anyone would blame the installer if it performed poorly. - They booked the appointment knowing I planned to bring a filter, then refused to install it when I arrived. I've used Allison's in the past with good results, but no more - their customer service is very poor. read more

It's really difficult trusting a mechanic. I should have trusted my gut with this one. I brought my Honda to Allison's 10/2023 for a second opinion on a wheel bearing replacement. The part was replaced at Allison's and failed within the year. I brought it to two separate mechanics who told me it was faulty and didn't appear as if it was replaced. In my 30+ years of owning cars, I've never had a part fail like this. But, I guess things happen. I took it back to Allison's and I'm not going to say they were thrilled to see us or were apologetic in any way. I guess you could say they were a little defensive. But, I wasn't real happy either. After several hours, they called in amusement saying the part did fail. As a positive, they did replace the part under warranty at no cost and picked my child up to get the car the following day. On the negative, they scared the living **** out of us stating that the car would still have the same issue while driving where my daughter felt it pulling all over the place. They wouldn't perform an alignment because they stated the rack & pinion replacement that was performed elsewhere on 2/2023 was done wrong. They said, "The top bolt driver's side was in at an angle. Cross threaded. Not tight and you can see the rack moving." Told me it probably still wasn't under warranty and asked what I wanted to do. Made me feel like the car was unsafe. I called Brakes Plus who performed the rack and pinion and they said it didn't sound right as we would have noticed something long before now, but to bring it in and they would make things right. My daughter drove the car from Allison's to Brakes Plus, and did NOT experience the pulling of the car like she had before. Wheel bearing replacement took care of that issue, even though Allison's stated it wouldn't. Brakes Plus took a long look and said that rack has 300 bolts and it's not going anywhere and showed my daughter. They did say the one bolt was cross threaded and they'd fix it, but in NO way was the car unsafe to drive. Just be careful all. I'm sad to say this wasn't a great experience for us. I pray that this part doesn't fail again so we don't have to go back. (Dealt with Scott at Allison's) read more

Ya know how sometimes your car makes a funny noise and after months of turning up the radio so you can't hear it, you finally have to take it to a mechanic...only you don't have a mechanic who you can trust not to take advantage of you? Yeah. Me too. Allison's Autocare services my company's fleet cars - in addition to many of our employee's personal cars - so I felt pretty good about being able to trust them. Randy was great to deal with and he kept me updated every step of the way. I expected to be without my car for days but Randy and his mechanics had me up and running in just over 24 hours. Unfortunately, I have some additional work that will eventually need to be done but Randy assured me that it didn't have to be taken care of immediately. My bank account sure appreciates that bit of honesty. I have no idea if the work I had done could've been found cheaper somewhere else but I'm fully confident that Randy and his staff gave me the best service and peace of mind. We've dealt with Allison's a couple of times now for our cars and initially found them through great reviews on Car Talk's website. First we took my wife's car there for some very loud squealing brakes and some slight idling problems. They couldn't find anything wrong on either issue and suggested some fuel injector cleaning for the idling which helped greatly. No charge other than a small fee for the gas they put in it since we dropped it off on empty. I recently dropped my car off for some brake work. They said the front brakes had about 5% left and the rear had 20% so I got both serviced. I also asked the to check the serpentine belt which needed to be replaced. They said that some oil gasket thing was leaking too which I didn't doubt for a minute since they gave my wife's car back when we wanted to find something wrong with it. The staff has always been very friendly as well. I highly recommend this place for honest work and prices that won't gouge you. They seem to be cheaper than the dealerships and lube shops on everything. read more

I had been taking my car(s) here for several years until recently. I like to do business with local companies in our quant side of town if I can. I honestly felt like I had a mechanical team that I could trust and that had good workmanship. I have since realized that something has changed with this shop and I will not be back. I am greatly disappointed in the poor experiences in November of 2011 and now again April of 2012. The customer service is nonexistent, and as well as the workmanship. I received poor attention, price gouging and unrealistic upselling. I am certain something has changed, be it high level management or ownership. My Dodge Grand Caravan needed its power steering fixed. Sunday night they were closed but they have an after hours drop box to leave your car on their lot. You fill out an envelope they have available on the office door, place your key in it and slide it through the dropbox. Really simple. The next morning I get a call from their mechanic confirming they received my key and were going to start work. Three hours later I get another call telling me what the problem was, luckily my power steering pump had not been damaged, but the main hosing had a hole in it, draining my power steering fluid. Total cost of the repair was $166.00. Driving off the lot, the van has superb steering, couldn't be more satisfied. Great service, solid price. I'm planning to take my mother's Honda Civic in for the next repair. I'll Review that experience next. read more

I took my Nissan Versa to Courtesy Nissan Inc in Richardson, TX on April 23, 2017 for a "FREE" oil change. The tech indicated that the rear engine mount @ firewall was worn/(loose) and recommended I replace it, cost $191.38 plus tax. I declined the offer. I had my previous oil change at Allison's Autocare, 1224 Ave K, Plano, TX and found them to be courteous and trustworthy. Therefore, I took the Nissan Versa (same car) to Allison's Autocare today, June 13, 2017, to have it replaced. The tech, Travis, came in to tell me that I didn't need a replacement and would like for me to come out and look at it myself. There was no charge for my visit today. Most of us are guilty at one time or another to fall for the 'FREEBIE' line that turns out to be very costly. If you own a RV, do not take it to this place. Had our RV in the shop down the street at Coach Specialists for body work, and they suggested Allison's to have the alternator replaced. I should have taken it to my normal shop a few blocks away, but let CS run it over there for me to save the trouble and hassle of taking off work. BIG MISTAKE. Originally quoted over $1,200 to replace alternator and belt. They didn't take the time to find the correct alternator, and went with the 1st one they found which would cost me the most money. I did the research, and found the correct alternator and belt at Napa, and gave them the exact part numbers to bring down my total to just over $900 which is still high for this simple job. When I spoke to Scott at the shop about it, he joked about an RV is like a BOAT - "Break Out Another Thousand". Which now I understand to mean if they see an RV come in, they assume the owner has deep pockets. He said it was because the alternator was so hard to get to, and was a big job to replace. While it is was there for repair, they broke the cam locks for the doghouse cover over the engine, and the door retainer for the entry door, plus walked on the carpet with greasy boots. When I took off the cover to replace the broken cam locks on the doghouse cover, guess what I found - THE ALTERNATOR! It is right near the top of the engine just under the cover, and I could have replaced it myself in an hour, but this greedy shop charged me $500 for labor. I will never return to this place to have any of my vehicles repaired, and will let anyone know I come in contact with to steer clear of this place. read more

This is the real deal auto spot. They are knowledgeable, patient, and good at what they do. Took my car in for an inspection where they found a "huge leak from the oil" part. I questioned them a lot because I figured if there was a huge leak I would have seen a puddle whenever I parked. I went to pick up the car after telling them not to do another thing assuming they saw "easy target" when I dropped off my care that morning. To my surprise they had my car up on the lift and walked through in detail exactly what was happening. They understood my reservations. After showing me what a "huge leak" means to them, and realizing it is not the same definition to me, I am glad that they were forgiving and so knowledgeable. I'm now a fan for life. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! My engine light was on and car was jerking and the heater didn't work. They replaced a couple of parts and spark plugs. The next day the car was still doing the same thing. The mechanic told me he couldn't find the problem he thought I should buy another car? I guess that how they fix cars. He took the dash off to fix the heater and now the radio doesn't operate the same and some of the lights are out on the dash. read more

Extremely horrible. I went in for a repair on my diesel using auto warranty to replace injector nozzles and look at any other issues, they told me 3 nozzles were bad and the warranty company would cover them at 2,000.00. When the work was finished they tell me the insurance company will not cover the work because they want to have the head gasket to be changed as well. I called the warranty co. and they said the only reason why is because the auto shop told them the head gaskets were blown which the shop never told me now the shop wants 7,000.00 to change the head gaskets. The one lucky thing was the warranty co. never authorized the shop to do the work so legally they had no right. The shop instead just sold me the injectors so they wouldn't have to incur the labor cost of replacing my old injectors back. I was lucky this time. I will never be returning to this place again. read more
