We just moved from out of state...didn't know of anywhere else to go & nobody else could help us last minute. We walked in an hour before closing & asked if they could help with my son's flat tire. If I could give less than 1 star I would. This shop was recommended to me by a co worker when I was out looking to purchase my first road bike. I went in expecting to have a great experience but walked out vowing to never go back. I went in looking to spend between $1500 and $1800 for the bike and was told that the only bike they had was over $2000 - above my budget and that I would just have to order the lower priced bike, prepaid of course. While taking a minute to think about it they guy walked away and started helping someone else and when I started to ask a question he totally ignored me. I guess they figured that they didn't need my business. I walked out and never went back. Horrible experience and with the fact there are so many other shops in the area I will go without something before i go into this shop ever again. read more

Overall the shop is well stocked and displayed nicely- however- they seem to have a problem in controlling maintenance times. Let me give you an example: I went in yesterday (Monday after Christmas) in my hand was Reynolds aero rear wheel that needed a spoke fixed (popped nipple). In the other hand I had cash , I was looking to but a new helmet,clips, etc.. A salesperson ( young kid) came to me right away and I asked if I could get this fixed today- his reply.."it will take about a week".. I said a week !!!! he replied "we are really backed up". (this is not my first experience with them on this issue. I even sent a friend to the shop and this happened to her).. he said "let me go ask to see if it can be done" - a moment later he came back and said "no way it would be a week" . Feeling rejected and sad as I wanted to ride that day , I had no choice to leave and find another shop. It was a shame, I like the shop and the owner is very nice and the product is good but they have to get this under control. I went somewhere else who fixed the tire in under 30 minutes and had the products I was looking for. I walked out spending about $250.. sorry Exhale..maybe in a few months I might try you again read more

I came in looking for a new mountain bike after being out of the saddle for years. James helped in catching me up ( I had done my preliminary research), looking at their available bikes, and even helped me test to see if a 29er would fit it my car (why did I buy a coupe?). He was friendly, helpful, and informative. I came back a few days later to set up a rental over the weekend on a Spec. Camber Comp. I even got some trail recommendations that were accurate for the skill-level I told them I was at. While riding, I ran into a mechanical issue (my fault, they handed it to me in good condition at the start) took it and and the tech there quickly greeted me and got it fixed (they were fairly busy too). I even got an extra day on the rental since I lost a day getting it fixed. Overall, I had a great experience with them. Service was fast and friendly. Staff was informative and I never got the attitude some people claim to catch in bike shops. I ended up feeling more comfortable on a different bike and unfortunately Exhale didn't carry the brand. I would have rather bought from them to be honest. I like the shop enough that I actually considered buying a bike from them that I wasn't 100% on just so I could work with them instead. read more

Two Christmases back these guys saved my fat ass! I ordered a bike for my GF, but I didn't have the tools to take it from a box of parts to something that she could ride through the dirt screaming "You're trying to kill me!!!!" on. I put up a cry for help on the MTBR boards, and low and behold out of nowhere Exhale's owner responded that they could do it for about 1/2 of what everyone in the valley had quoted me. A few days later my special lady's 575 was built up and perfect. Saved money, saved a lot of time, and Exhale saved Christmas! Thanks guys, you're the best. read more

A+A+++...Very friendly and knowledgeable bike shop. I badly needed a tune-up on my 13yr. old Ladies Bianchi. Fairly new to Phoenix, I wasn't sure where to go for help with my bicycles. One day I happened to see this shop, went in and was helped by a very nice guy named Gary, who is very knowledgeable about bikes, he explained everything they do for the tune-up and right away gave me a very fair and reasonable price. Retail prices are somewhat higher than I think are justified (sure, I understand that a couple or three bucks over internet prices for a part or accessory is de rigeur for an LBS, but more than double?); and, in my experience, some of their wrenches seem at times to lack competence and even a professional attitude. I miss Swiss America! But now that SA has closed, I need to find a new LBS in my area; but after a couple of unsatisfactory experiences in Exhale I believe that I'll keep looking. read more

Great guys, great service. A few years ago, I bought myself a folding commuter bike off the net only to find out it was too heavy to cart up and down the stairs to my 3rd story apartment. Fast forward to present day. I'm now in a house and can finally have a full sized bike without worrying about dragging it up and down the stairs. These guys accepted the folding bike for store credit, even though I know it doesn't fit in with their stock at all. I used the credit towards a fab used bike and received excellent service in making sure the bike was sized appropriately and fit my needs. I had fessed up that I'm pretty much a bike noob, and the owner very helpfully even gave me instructions on how to use the flat tire kit I bought without me having to ask, which is great since I've never used one before. Very reasonable prices and excellent service. They're in my neighborhood and have earned a loyal customer today. I'll be sure to refer any friends to them in the future. read more

Bought a beautiful Specialized road bike from James at Exhale today. These guys do business the right way. Great advice about bikes, biking, racing, the culture in general. Price was super competitive and they fit my bike to me no charge and told me to bring it back for an even more complete fitting when I decided to clip in. Every guy that has helped me out here have been complete sweethearts. Just absolutely the best service that you can really find with bikes. Some shops will screw you in the ass when it comes to labor fees , one in peoria I've been to charges for how long the bike is in the shop. I have gone in here on 2 separate occasions and they have done a amazing job straightening out my rims , and the frame of my bike. Reasonable prices. I brought my bike in for repairs and a tune up. They started out friendly. They told me the bike would be ready on 11/29, but just in case, expect 12/3. I called on 12/2 and they had not even started working on it. I said do you think it will be done by Friday? they said "oh, yes". On Thursday night they contacted me and stated that it would be significantly more money than they quoted me. I immediately came to pick up my bike. It still had the same dust on it that it had when I left it. They had not done anything at all. After I picked up my bike, they started laughing at me as I left the store. I feel like I am rightly frustrated that they have had my bike for over a month and not done anything to it. But I guess the customer satisfaction is a joke to them. read more

Too good for me! At least that's how they make me feel. Nothing worse than going into a bike shop for help and getting the "Bike Snob" attitude in return. I went in for a tube replacement, yeah it says Schwinn on my Wheel...and the young guy repairing bikes looked at my wheel and said "Ohhhh you bought one of those." Really? The guy who actually replaced the tube was very helpful, but Bike Snob Young Repair Boy need keep his comments to himself. I use my bike to ride leisurely with my kids who are 9 & 14 around my neighborhood, I don't have a $1500 Specialized or Trek for that purpose......Sorry to disappoint. I am getting more serious about biking and recently began the search for a stout road bike with quality components because even I know the Schwinn won't cut it on distance bike rides. I plan on spending that real money for my second bike, my serious road bike I chose Exhale Bikes as my shop because it was right by my work and close to home. I will be driving out of my way to get service from another shop from this point on, a shop that appreciates ALL customers, their equipment and their money. read more

We rented 2 road bikes for a weekend and could not be more pleased with our experience. Within an hour they had set up everything for us, found us well fitting bikes and helmets, given us great advice on where to ride and told us where to get great food. What more could you ask for?! One of us is 5ft 2, the other 6ft 3, so either we got lucky or they have a great range of sizes. Closed Sundays so they count that as a free day. Made our weekend in Phoenix so much better, thank you Exhale. read more

I've been here a few times before just browsing the inventory. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable. Then I came back when my mountain bike needed a tune up. They took a reservation over the phone quick and easy. I dropped off my bike and they had it serviced and cleaned on time. Very happy with them. I will definitely be returning. read more

Nice folks and very helpful... Sometimes you have to wait 3 or 4 days to get your bike back but that's not a complaint, more like a natural fact. They are not cheap but I guess that quality is worth a little extra money. Always happy to hand out free advice though which I really appreciate. I've owned my moderately inexpensive Fuji 3.0 road bike about 6 1/2 years. Being retired I have the time to ride it at least 5 days wk on average. It was time for another full tuneup. I have always felt good about coming here not just because they're so friendly, they're good and very competent. I dropped it off for the day. I love this place - what a vibe! I hadn't been in for years; 10 - 15 yrs ago I bought nice bikes for my teenage kids with a few parts trips since. Now I'm back in for my own, a fat-tire w/ a flat tire; and I'll be back again! From the 1st visit through today I've always felt comfortable with attentive, competent help, a generous serving of time and a genuine connected concern. And never as if they were after the money. I will gladly pay the extra it takes to keep a great retail store there to deliver the level of service and cheer these guys serve; and the price is actually quite reasonable. Steve could have sold me a ton of fix I didn't need; nope, just a bottle of sealant (the unnecessary patch kit was my choosing) and lots of great advice. My first experience with Exhale was when they built a bike I didn't buy from them. They were more than happy to do it and charged a fair price. A few years later I'm ready to buy another bike. There was a Spec I wanted to test ride before I bought and they didn't have it in stock. They ordered it at their cost without a guarantee I would purchase it. Loved the bike but had to wait for some money and they were cool with that. Bought the bike and they moved components over from my old bike. Thought it would take a week and their mechanic took a day!! I was pleasantly surprised when they said it was ready. Prices=good, what I would expect from other shops and in some cases less Mechanics=so far awesome. Well find out after riding the bike a bit. Customer service=outstanding. Always nice, never rushed me out the door, took their time, answered all my questions with good details and explanations, fast service, excellent communication on bike status. read more

I would NOT Recommend buying a mountain Bike from Exhale Bikes on Bell and I-17. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I order a Mountain Bike A (Specialized ROCKHOPPER) from (Exhale Bikes) I put down 500 dollars. For my B-Day Back in April. I was going camping for a week for my B-Day (May 15) and they said my bike would be the there for my camping trip. It was there just like they said. But they sold it out from underneath me to someone else. And then they tried to reorder my bike again, but by then Specialized sold out of the Rockhopper I wanted. And now I would not have my bike in time for my B-Day and NOT the one I wanted. I ended up buying the next model up bike that was 400 dollars more. To make it right EXhale Bikes gave me 150 store credit. (That I could NOT use towards the purchase of bike) and free up grade tubeless Tires with free Sealant for a year. About every 2 mouths you got to get your tires resealed. So today I go in to get my first free sealant for my tires and the owner would not uphold there agreement to me. He called me a liar and said his employee didn't tell me they would give me free sealant for tires. Only 7 dollars a tire. He just lost a customer for life and I'm in the market for a bicycle for my girlfriend. So if your in the market for a Mountain Bike. I would recommend staying away from Exhale Bikes 2814 w. Bell rd and Go to a Bike shop that knows how to treat a customer. Thanks For Reading. read more

We have rented bikes from Exhale, we have bought a bike from Exhale, we have had our bikes serviced at Exhale (2 Specialized and 1 Cervelo), and we have purchased equipment and other supplies from Exhale. Each time we go we are usually met by Steve the store manager and other knowledgeable, courteous and professional staff that answer our questions and treat us with respect, consistently providing outstanding service. Nate and guys are great. I travel frequently to Phoenix and Nate and the guys have taken care of my rental needs and riding and maintenance questions. I ended up buying a new bike from them. Lifetime maintenance is best deal ever. Drove into town on Friday afternoon and they squeezed my bike in for its first tuneup by Saturday afternoon. Very poor customer service. I ordered a bunch of bikes from these guys and had them service my stumpy. No problems. After that I special ordered a bike rack and hand grips. They never called me to tell me they were in. I just show up cause the owner James had told me theyd be in the following week. The manager Steve says they aren't in because no one called me and he was very rude about it. He checks and they actually are in - but he doesn't lighten up at all. I proceed to tell him I already paid for them. He insists I did not and doesn't bother to check into it. So I have to pay a second time to get them. When I get home I find the first receipt and call them back. The manager Steve is the one who answers the phone and again he is rude about it and says there is no way for him to have know that I paid twice and now I have to go back in to get it refunded. No apology. No sorry for the inconvenience. No "I screwed up and should have checked." Nothing. Just says I have to come in even though its very far for me. VERY poorly done. These guys just lost a customer for no other reason than just poor customer service. Had a good experience with DNA cycles previously. Will use them in the future. They finally did reverse the charge over the phone, but you shouldn't have to pitch a fit for good service. Too many other places for me to take my business. read more

I started by renting a bike and it went well, I then had all my questions answered by Nathan and ended up buying a bike around $1300, crave. I had my sons bike in for service. a week later I called to see if service was done, answer was " Did anyone call you, then it isn't done " I had purchased new bars with my bike and they made a mistake ordering those and questioned me multiple times for proof that I had. Thankfully I was able to deal with Nathan again and things smoothed out.
