I seem to move a lot and we all know moving is a NIGHTMARE. This was by far the easiest move I ever had, well and above all my others. I had them pack me and Max and his guys (oh how I wish I could remember their names but you know...moving) packed everything so well and nothing got damaged at all. Also they were great people! So lovely. It was the least stressful move ever and they were so helpful and patient when I didn't know where stuff was gonna go. I know I sound a little like I'm gushing but if I ever have to move again I, for sure, won't hesitate to call them again. I recommend.

Since writing the first review I have received several text messages from this company. The first one - as you can imagine was very upsetting, but I am not the type of person to be intimidated by this type of behavior, if anything it just made me more certain of my review. Eventually the person texting must have realized the message was inappropriate and did apologize and even offer to do our move at a lower cost, but I declined. As I said in my response and I'm posting here, I am simply adding these to give anyone reading this review information that may be useful when looking for a moving company. I however, cannot increase my review as I personally would not ever use this company or contact them again.

Here are the facts: The dispatcher shifted the rates on me a tad...$5/hr...no big deal. Then he claimed i made up the rate despite the fact that he offered the discount b/c it was an 'off day'...slightly offended. Then he said on my move date that it required a minimum of 3 guys....and i said that is not what your website says. He was gruff and had me pull up his website, which i did...then he realized his error...no apologies from him. Subsequent to that, he was fine to deal with and very transparent on fees. I ended up hiring 2 guys for a move out of the city into nj. The 2 guys said it should have been a 3 person job, but the dispatcher said 2 would probably suffice. The 2 guys were not the most efficient as they tended to both go down to their truck to grab supplies, when one would have worked. I jumped in to help them speed up the process. They were good movers, but not 5 stars by any measure. The buzzkill: I tipped each guy $40 but paid them separately, the lead guy though i was tipping them $40 for the whole thing and said that was very low. Then i explained that i had given the other guy the same, and he was fine. I give him props for speaking his mind but he should have probably checked w/ the other guy first b/f speaking up. I probably would use them again given i know what to expect but the experience was less than pleasant. read more

This company subcontracts the move out to a different company. This other company moved me and scratched an expensive bedframe. I saw the movers do it with my own eyes. They lied to me and said that they did not do it. Finally, they admitted it and begged me not to claim the damage because they would not get paid. This was my experience. read more

While the guys were early and did a good job packing and moving my boxes, there were a few things that upset me - 1 - about an hour into the job, all of a sudden I noticed that the guys had disappeared - I looked out the window to their truck and they were all standing around or sitting in the truck, smoking cigarettes - this "smoking break" lasted 20 minutes while no one was moving anything; 2 - one guy out of three seemed to be doing very little work if any, and I had the tv on to watch a game during the move, and every time he came in the room, he literally stopped for a few seconds to several minutes to watch the game, which was really aggravating since I was paying him to work; and 3 - at the end, the price of the job had doubled (it took longer to do the move than I had expected - about an hour and half to two hours longer), from $225 to almost $500. I gave the guy a $100 tip, which seemed reasonable - more than $30 per person, and I said here's your fee and tip, hope its okay. He responded by shaking his head vehemently and saying no - that the usual tip for a job like this was $50 per guy. So on top of the higher fee I ended up paying, I then paid another $150 in tips. I thought it was quite rude and classless to ask for a higher tip. read more

A generally good experience. We moved from Manhattan to Long Island in 3.5 hours, including travel. $85/hour plus an $85 travel fee, then $100 tip, equaled $483 total. This was done sort of mid-month (their rates go up for end-of-month moves) The good: -Excellent communication- I found them through citymove.com and also cross-referenced with Yelp. They called to confirm the time and address the day before. -The total came out to be about $70 less than the lowest flat-rate bid I had. -No extra fees... I got my own mattress covers, and they used (but didn't charge for) a wardrobe box that had obviously been used many times before, to carry loose items. -The guys are obviously professional, and they can hustle. -We had a lot of stuff, some of it quite heavy, and they didn't complain at all. The bad: -They showed up right on time, but then disappeared for 15 minutes to park their truck (obviously, that extra time counted). -The original estimate was 3 hours (3-hour minimum), and it went over to 3.5 hours. They left for the new apartment about 10 minutes before we did and arrived 20 minutes after. I guess they were getting lunch? (Another reviewer mentioned seeing them take a 30 minute lunch break as well while on the clock). -They didn't wrap/ protect or disassemble stuff (including tables, the metal mattress support, etc). They did use the mattress covers I had previously purchased. -They asked for a $40/man tip, which is a pretty high percentage. So it was fine... I was mostly miffed about that extra half hour, because there was empty time in the 3.5 hours. The guys do work hard though, and got the job done. And as far as I know, nothing was lost! I was SHOCKED when I read all the positive reviews about this company. I even created a Yelp account for the sole purpose of warning everyone out there about these people. My roommate and I just had an absolutely awful experience with them. Yes sure, they were on time and moved all of our stuff without breaking anything. However, I have never come across more RUDE, unprofessional and down right mean business people in my whole life! Actually - out of the 3 movers we had, 2 of them were fine, but it was the main guy who really made my blood boil. Right off the bat, he was rude. I greeted him nicely and in a friendly manner, and he just gave me a cold stare. "Tell me what I have to bring downstairs." Alrighty, not into small talk I guess. I was showing him the furniture we needed moving, and since we are majorly downgrading in apartment size, I had some extra furniture - a small desk and headboard, and I asked him if he would help me take it downstairs since the trash area of our building was literally right next to their moving truck. "No. I won't do it. You have to do it yourself." Ooooookaayyy, never mind.. Then, one of our sweet little boy neighbor's who is about 10 years old innocently asked if they needed any help and if they wanted, he could help them. The movers SNAPPED at him, yelling and telling him to go away and if he wanted a job he could call their boss. WTF?! A 10 year old?! After unloading everything into our new place, the main guy walks over to my roommate, shoves the paperwork over to her and says "So are you gonna pay me or what?" UMMMMMM what? I looked at him and said, "excuse me are you going to give us a total to pay you?" We were nothing but nice and friendly to these people and from the second they entered our place they were ridiculously rude. I honestly do not understand how they run a business with worker's like that guy. To top it all off, they expected a big fat tip at the end. We told the nice ones we would tip them since they were perfectly fine, but they denied it saying that they were a team. Admirable, but unfortunate for them. I told them to tell the other guy to change his attitude before they start losing more business. I am finishing up graduate school in NY and I have a ton of friends who will be relocating in the next few months and I most certainly will tell every single one of them to not even consider using "excellent quality" movers. read more

I was literally dreading moving, in NYC it could be possibly the worst thing anyone has to go through. I used EQ movers this past weekend for my move and I will never use another moving company again. They were available and responsive during the quote process and open to my suggestions on how I could save $. Very up front on cost and very affordable. They confirmed with me a few days before the move and when the day finally came showed up right on time to my apartment door without any instruction, super professional and just knew to talk to my door guys and coordinate where to park and find the freight elevator. Super helpful taking furniture apart, no damages to anything. They did my whole move from Manhattan to Brooklyn in under 3 hours! I would highly recommend this moving company to anyone. read more

Moving is stressful. Especially out-of-town moves when you have to be out of one building within a certain window and into your new place by a certain time in the afternoon. We initially thought of doing it ourselves but couldn't begin to figure out logistics with packing the truck, getting keys, driving the van vs. our car. So I Yelped for moving companies and found Excellent Quality Movers. From beginning to end they were professional and organized. Sergei who coordinated my plans over the phone and by email was responsive to all my questions and promptly generated the insurance certificates my buildings required. I packed my own stuff up. On the day of the move Dmitri and his crew (1 other mover) showed up by 8:30 a.m. They brought extra tape and furniture pads to wrap up furniture. They had me all moved out of my studio and the truck packed by 10:15 a.m. We left the city at 10:30 and drove directly to my new location. Since we were in a car we beat them there, but when they arrived they immediately unloaded the truck. We were done moving my stuff in by 4:25 p.m. (my new place gave us until 4:30 p.m.) so the timing was perfect! As I've been unpacking I've maybe noticed only one chip in one piece of furniture and I can't say for sure whether it wasn't that way before we left New York. I should also mention that they were thorough and professional with respect to signing contracts, payment times, etc. It all went exactly as I had been told it would. As mentioned by other Yelpers, they do scare you a little bit on the phone about adding parking tickets in NYC to your bill. During my move the truck had to double park but they let my sister hang out and watch it while they packed and we had no issues. I guess they just have to cover their bases in case of any run-ins with NYPD. Overall I was extremely pleased with the service I received and would definitely recommend them to others for moves either in or out of town. read more

Let's start with why they lost 2 stars. 1. Asking for a tip, and not even very nicely. Asking for tips is incredibly unprofessional and rude. Especially when it's done with a bit of an attitude. I almost didn't want to give them anything after that! (I still did though, but not $50/each!). 2. They were friendly for the first half hour but seemed kind of pissed off the rest of the time. To the point where I had some stuff in the kitchen for them to put in the truck but I actually felt like I was bothering them and carried it myself (I had to make 3 more trips back to my apartment to get everything). And the guy gave me crap about my debit card b/c it didn't have raised numbers on it (to make a carbon copy) like I was trying to give him a fake card or something (it was clearly a TD bank card). Maybe it was because it was the last job of the day and they were tired, but I didn't have a ridiculous move. And then you have the nerve to ASK for $50 each for 3 of you?! Plus they were over 2 hours late and didn't let me know they were taking the stuff to the new place so I was standing around like an idiot for a bit, cleaning before I realized they were no where to be found. The good parts: They were the only ones I could find with an affordable price a week before the end of the month. They were very efficient in wrapping the things I couldn't pack (pillows, lamps, other loose items as well as the couch and mattress). Nothing was broken either, which surprised me considering how they were tossing things around (I don't mean that in a bad way necessarily, they were like machines getting the stuff packed and out). I moved a 1 bedroom from a 6th floor elevator building just 10 blocks down the street to a 2nd floor house (1 flight of stairs). I have a lot of stuff, but I can't imagine it's much more than other 1 bedrooms, nor do I have any crazy heavy furniture. It wasn't raining, just a bit warm b/c it was the end of June, but like I said, they didn't seem very happy. read more

We will not be using EQ again and would not recommend them to anyone. They showed up on time, but took about 45 minutes to finish eating breakfast in the truck before they started doing any work. THEN, they took AN HOUR AND A HALF to get from our old apartment to the new apartment (a 20 minute drive away, we left at the same time they did and saw the truck leave the old apartment), which was conveniently timed during lunch and made us pay for the extra hour. Then the person heading up our move had the nerve to ask for double the tip when they were done, which was extremely unprofessional. They took their time loading the truck (two people were outside at the truck, one watching - which makes sense - and the other one doing who knows what) and unloading. The only thing I do commend them on is that they wrapped everything very well. I recommend going with a flat rate mover instead of these guys. To sum it all up, they charged us for over 2 hours they did not work (including their lunchtime) and asked for a bigger tip than I was willing to give for their lazy service. They quote low, then take their sweet time and jack the cost up on the day of the move. read more

In the past we've used a much more expensive mover who I was very impressed with. A friend recommended Excellent Quality Movers and I was amazed how much lower their prices were, so we decided to give them a shot. I would say the move was 98% as good for much less than 95% of the price. Aleks K and his crew were on time and everything got moved without any damage. They did not "seem" quite as careful as other movers I've used but they must know what they are doing since everything made it in perfect shape, so I can't complain! One small update a few weeks later when we finally finished opening everything. The frame on one of our paintings got all scratched up because the posters and paintings were stacked without anything in between. Not sure why they did this given we even had plenty of packing paper sitting around during the move. Luckily only one was damaged, and it was only the frame, but it was disconcerting opening the boxes to find paintings and posters stacked touching each other. So if you have any someone non-metal art, just be sure they pack it with a bit more care. -1 star. read more

We had a big move, which involved 3 stages/moves. We decided to go with EQ because their prices were significantly lower than the bigger companies. What was good: Speed and efficiency. My husband really appreciated that feature. What was not good: Some carelessness and broken items. I've uncovered about 4 broken glasses - that's no big deal, but they were well wrapped and labelled fragile. I think that some of the guys don't speak a lot of english, or read it , so the labels may have gone unnoticed. My husband also had to stop them and explain that they needed to wrap things up that they didn't think of - like our chandelier. Then we opened a box with my grandmother's antique lamp table and 2 of the feet were broken off. They had wrapped it. That thing must have been thrown around. At least they took it back and are repairing it. let's see how it comes back. If they do a good job, i guess i'll up my rating. but for the damage, i have to give 2 stars. the bottom line: if you want speedy movers, and your stuff is well packed and not fragile, they'll do fine. But keep an eye out for your fragile stuff. If you are willing to risk some breakage - you'll save money. read more

Holy hell are these guys affordable. Found an ad on Craigslist advertising $70/hr for a 3 man crew, as long as you moved off cycle (i.e. in the middle of the month). At that price, I was worried that all my stuff was going to get a) broken or b) stolen, but I was really satisfied with how the move went. Also saving some money was that they only charge 1/2 hour for travel time, most places charge a full hour. As promised, a 3 man crew showed up right on time for an 8am move, within an hour and a half everything was in the truck and on its way to a new home. Concerning the actual move, a few things to take note of before these guys show up: -Mattresses must be in a mattress bag/similar plastic covering or they will charge you a fee to wrap them. This is good practice, but my roommate wasn't aware of this so it cost him a few extra bucks -They won't move anything glass/breakable if it's not packed properly. We had a ratty old glass coffee table I wanted them to move without padding and they refused. I told them I didn't care if it broke but they wouldn't do it. Just covering their own asses in case I tried to pull a 180 on them if it broke, but again, wish I had known that in advance -Anything small-ish (such as desk chairs, under the bed containers full of clothes, backpacks, vacuums, lamps, ANYTHING - you get the picture) they won't put into the truck individually and insist on packing into "wardrobe boxes" - i.e. big cardboard boxes that cost like $15-18 each. This is part of the reason they lost a star from me. This easily added $100 to my move and I wish they could have let me know their small item policy beforehand - I would've packed everything better to avoid this $100 The other reason they lose a star is that their quote at the end came with a "suggested tip" of $50 per mover. I think this was fair, and I already had $40/person prepared so the extra $10 was not a big deal. The whole "suggested tip" thing in general just annoys me and I don't like to be told how I should pay people. But overall, these guys were really good. The price aboslutely can't be beat - I had several other moving companies just say "wow, we can't match that" when they called with quotes of $125+/hour. And even though the price was bargain basement, the movers were relatively quick (3.5 hours for a 2 BR apt move), geniunely courteous and a pleasure to work with. Would recommend to others with the advice given above. read more

DO NOT USE - ABSOLUTE LET DOWN We had them booked for Friday removals. We had 2 x 1 bed apartments to move to a 2 bed apartment - We'd spoken with Adam, all was good to go - Spoke to him the day before to confirm the move, and it was all done Friday comes, 12noon time booked in.... 11:45 were called to say they will be an hour late. Annoying, but we'll accept that as it is NY after all. 1pm, 2pm, 3pm - I've called them over 5 times, no response and then the guy answers and sounds like he's never heard of me before (I spoke to him at 11:45). Tells me he will be 30 minutes. an hour later, nothing. 4pm a different guy calls me to say he will be 30 minutes. We have to be moved out as new people move in Saturday.... massively panicking....5pm comes, I call the another 5 times and he finally answers and says he isnt coming as he doesnt have the time to move 2 apartments into one and they dont do that.... We had to rent a zipvan and rush for 7 hours to move all of our stuff to our apartment ourselves. No apology, infact all we got was a rude guy on the phone. I've since heard other examples of them doing this, as they find better 'easier' offers on the day and drop the tougher jobs. If you want to move apartments in Manhattan, go with a proper company and pay a bit more - I certainly will next time. read more

To be clear - I want to rate the actual movers a 5, and the sales guy, Jack, a 2. A 3.5 overall would be a more accurate score. The move itself was probably the most seamless I've ever had - they were on time, professional, and super quick. The move took about the amount of time I expected, no hiccups, and no extra stress until, of course, the bill. I had been quoted $270 for 2 hours of moving plus 1 hour of travel - which I had taken to mean the travel from my old apartment to my new apartment. Awesome, since the total time was 3.5 hours, I should have only been charged for an extra half hour. In the fine print, they say the flat rate 1 hour of travel time is time from their facility to your apartment and back. I REALLY wish this had been explained to me...that travel time from apartments would equal moving time. Obviously I didn't think they'd get done in 2 hours, I would have requested a revised quote so I could have been prepared to pay the right amount. I took out enough cash for an extra hour on top of their quote, but of course, the quote came to 4.5 hours instead of 3.5 because of their extra travel time tacked on. That combined with tip meant an extra trip to an ATM (fees, extra waiting time for the movers, and having to find one in a new area that I'm not familiar with on a day that is already stressful...not fun). They DO have a credit option, but it's more expensive, and at this point I was trying to save my money. My overall issue is not the price - they still came out well below any flat rate moving quote I got. My issue was not being properly informed of what exactly I was paying for. Yes - it was in the fine print of the email. However, it was not properly explained during our phone call, and I'm sure Jack has had this issue before. He should know to make sure the customer is aware that travel time is NOT from one place to another, which makes the most sense for a moving quote, but before and after the actual move. A simple one-sentence explanation would have saved a huge headache on an already difficult day. read more

Before I start, I just want to say that in terms of the actual move itself, Excellent Quality Movers did a great job. I knocked off one star because of the tipping exchange, which I'll explain later. We booked EQ Movers for an interstate moving job, from NY to NJ. Sergei was fantastic via email, and the set up and quote were both a breeze. I felt the price was competitive with most of the other moving companies I got a quote from. There were 4 guys for our move, and they showed up 10 minutes early (which was great). They were careful with our stuff and wrapped up everything in cellophane for added protection. They were able to quickly move our stuff out of a 2 bedroom 3rd floor walkup and we were on our way to NJ in no time. When we got to the destination, they moved everything in very quickly, and were very attentive to where we wanted things placed. All in all, for the move portion, it was fantastic. Now to the negative. After the move I went through the invoice with the head mover, and provided my credit card information to pay for it. Once that went through, I gave him a cash tip equal to 20% of the entire move. I handed it to him, and he said "How much is this?" and proceeded to count it in front of me. I told him how much it was, and his reply was "Can you make this a little better? We've been working all day." I was shocked!! I honestly only had another twenty, so I said that and gave it to him. He rolled his eyes and gave me a sarcastic thanks. I couldn't believe it and it really soured my experience with an otherwise great moving job. So to sum up, as long as you don't mind being made to feel cheap during the payment process, by all means book with these guys. read more
My roommate and I used them for our move back in July from our Hell's Kitchen apartment to our new apartments on the UWS and UES. We lived in a 4th floor walk-up and moved into a 6th floor walk-up and an elevator building. The move required 4 guys, 1 truck, and about 3-4 hours. They were SUPER efficient, surprisingly strong, and pretty nice (despite the heat and all the stairs they had to climb). The price quote was very reasonable, too. The only thing that I found a little strange was when one of the guys pulled my roommate aside and gave her unsolicited advice on how much we should tip them. Other than that, though, we had a great experience. Definitely recommend them and will use them again in the future! read more

I just had the best moving experience with these guys - Excellent Quality Movers. Moving should not be stressful. But it so often is due to trust, time, attitude and cost. With EQM - For the first time ever, literally, I actually felt ZERO STRESS!!! They were fast, professional, honest, pleasant, considerate, friendly and a sincere pleasure all around. Very clean movers, very clean truck, and very clean attitude. 'Cool' is difficult to put into words, but these guys were cool. And respectful - which is rare. I've lived in NYC for many years...more than I care to admit, and I've lived in almost every Manhattan neighborhood ...Queens and Brooklyn included and I've had to go through the process of finding movers, negotiating, keeping a close eye on timing, fairness, attentiveness to my belongings, etc many many times. That being said, with Excellent Quality Movers, I didn't have to worry about one thing. Not one thing! And that speaks volumes about integrity. They surpassed my expectations in every way. I was moving from the Union Square area to Long Island City. Dmitri and crew arrived on time and as promised. Went to work immediately, without procrastinating, cared about the items being moved, were attentive to details and had a really nice attitude during the process. They explained everything prior to starting the move clearly. Sergei, on the phone, gave a honest fair quote right from the start and kept his word - i was impressed. No hidden charges at the end...and I were pleasantly relieved at my total cost. Again, no stress, no regret, no worries. I so much liked these guys that giving them a nice tip was my sincere pleasure, with a smile. These are the types of movers that you are happy to tip, and tip well for doing a great job!! Highly recommended and will most certainly use them again. read more

My first review on Yelp - I thought I would take a moment to add to all the good feedback here. I just moved into a new apartment and went with EQ Movers after reading all the great feedback here. This was the first time I hired movers so I was a bit nervous about the whole process. Sergei was very quick to respond to all emails when I inquired about pricing and availability and the pricing was very competitive. Andrey and his team took very good care of all of my furniture and the enormous amount of electronic equipment that I own. They were all very professional and walked me through each step and made sure to clear any additional charges with me first. Oh, and these guys move your stuff SUPER fast. One piece of advice - they have a standard moving truck. Pack your stuff like you are throwing it in a UHAUL or something similar. Not sure why I expected anything differerent, but they had to pack my TV once they arrived as they were concerned it wouldn't make it. Overall, it was a pleasure to work with them. read more

Best moving company in Nyc! Showed up on time and even helped me pack some things up, so they would survive the move faster! Two plastic bins of mine cracked, which in the moment was disappointing, but everything in the crate was fine, so I was happy! Would definitely use them again, even with the two broken bins! Just finished my move from Soho to Brooklyn, and thanks to these guys everything went seamlessly. From the first email to payment, my experience was fantastic. Let's face it, moving isn't fun, especially in NYC. I dreaded the process with every ounce of my being. I spoke to countless moving companies and was getting increasingly annoyed by pushiness, ridiculous prices and random ppl with vans and no insurance. Then I found these guys. After a few quick emails with the usual info (addresses, list of furniture and boxes, desired moving day/time), I was given a full quote with beyond reasonable prices. Moving day came. I sat in my boxed up apartment hoping this would go well. My phone rang and it was Dmitriy K. letting me know he and his crew were approximately 30 minutes away. Right on time (actually 10 minutes ahead of schedule), they arrived. Everyone was friendly and understanding of my nerves. After a quick rundown of what I needed (mattress wrapped and what was being moved), they got to work. These men work quickly, efficiently, and are so clean and respectful. They knew what time they needed to have their truck loaded by to the T, they even knew the street sweeper schedule! In 1hr & 20 minutes they arrived, wrapped my belongings, loaded their truck, got to my new place in Brooklyn, unloaded my stuff, assembled my bed and were done. Quickest, easiest, cleanest move of my life in under an hour and a half for a VERY good price. They are not time wasters, they do not run up the bill by moving slowly. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. While I hope to not move again for awhile, when I do, I will absolutely call them again. If you're searching for the right movers, do not hesitate to call them. No hidden fees, everything is honest and upfront. In a city full of unreliable people, I know I found movers I can trust. read more

I chose EQ Movers based upon great reviews from Yelp. They just finished moving me today, and now it's my turn to add them to the 5-star list. Couldn't have been better! 1) Exactly on time: showed up on the dot at 9AM. 2) Deinstalled and wrapped the furniture with great care. 3) Their truck arrived at the next location even before I got there. 4) They were polite and efficient throughout. 5) The job took almost exactly the number of hours on the estimate - for a VERY DIFFICULT move. 6) No hidden anything. These guys were real pros from start to finish. read more

Excellent Quality Movers lives up to their name! With my job, they had multiple purposes: to get my crap into their moving van; to get rid of crap I couldn't take with me; and to move my crap from an elevator building in Brooklyn to a 2nd story walk up in Jersey. They managed to do all this without breaking any of my myriad collections of glasswares, dishwares, and too-much wares. The move, however, took longer than estimated, which cut into the amount of cash I had on hand for a tip. But I'm glad that my 2nd attempt using a moving company worked out as well as the first did! read more

I just had this company move me into my new apartment yesterday. I was very anxious about the move with this being my 4 time moving in NYC - but as soon as they arrived, I felt instant relief. Do yourself a favor and hire this team! Sergei gave me an easy break down of the process and cost via email, answered all my questions and we scheduled the move. The team lead by Timur was fast, professional and straightforward. They arrived at my place early, we went over the contract and they immediately got started. They were very careful with my things and were very mindful of time. They had all the tools needed and extra packing materials boxes in case I needed them. They took apart my furniture, wrapped it up and put it all back together in the new place. The move took about 7 hours; their rates are fair and accurate, very straightforward. I will definitely hire them again for my next move. read more

I cannot say enough about how "excellent" these movers are! They were fast, efficient, organized, careful, and friendly! To begin with, I had used a moving company in the past and the experience was nothing like this one, (I did alot of the work!). With EQ, I didn't do anything! They arrived early, which was amazing! Alex K was the organizer and before they even got started he went over everything with me. We discussed the rate/time, and he explained that my beds, and sofa needed to be shrink wrapped. This they do according to the NY liability because of the bed bug epidemic. Each item is $15, and quite frankly well worth it. I was certainly not going to even attempt to shrink wrap my furniture! By the way, this is also explained on the phone and in an email so it is not a surprise. The three movers that we had moved like machines! They moved us into a three bedroom house, together with assembly, and even offering to set things up how we wanted in exactly three hours!! They took such care with everything and were so gracious during our move on one of the hottest days!! I will recommend these guys to anyone I know who needs movers!! read more
okay, I OFFICIALLY HEART THEM. i will NEVER EVER MOVE MYSELF EVER AGAIN. we moved around the block, and the whole deal was fast, considering that we were moving from the dungeony cramped of a basement apartment that we used to live in to our somewhat "modern brownstone" of a first floor apartment. i forgot the names of the guys that moved us, but they were really nice and arrived early (much to our horror, as we were still packing) so i asked them to come back after an hour - after all we needed the time to pack more. based on previous experience, this time we packed all our stuff in beer boxes (thank you corner deli!) like a bunch of alcoholics. my fiancee had some stuff in plastic bags, and even if they put it in that big box they didnt charge us - im thinking that this will depend on WHICH GUY WILL MOVE YOU, but nonetheless, it was all good. i also knew about wrapping the mattress, so we wrapped ours with a bananabag (the container store sell these for about 6 bucks). as per usual, they needed my drill and drillbits, so it was good that i charged my trusty handy dandy drill. these guys were the best and we gave them a nice fat tip. one more thing, i think they only take cash. be sure to have all the cash on hand for paying them. i paid them $210 + tip, $45 for each guy, there were two of them - a smooth move done in 3 hours and 300 bucks. what is not to love? (of course the rates change depending on date of move and distance) read more

Very unprofessional. Pulled a bait and switch. Quoted a price on the phone and when they completed the move charged over $200 more than the quoted price to move ten blocks. Quoted $740 but charged $1030. Moved a full size mattress and box spring, small bureau, flat screen TV with console, 20 boxes, 3 duffel bags of clothes, 3 bags of coats. They charge by the hour and started with 3 men but by the end of the move only one man was moving items. The other 2 men disappeared during the 4 hour move. This of course slows things down so the move takes longer and they can charge you more. Movers arrived at 12:50 pm and finished at 5 pm to move items ten blocks. Took forever to write up the bill and padded the bill by charging for parking and travel time. Used the bathroom in the old place and the new place. Ripped the mattress cover and when the $60 tip was provided had the unmitigated gall to ask for more money. Dude said the tip is usually 20% of the total bill. Ha! Asking for a bigger tip is the hallmark of an unprofessional business especially when the tip was for two surly, impolite movers who never used the word please, thank you or excuse me when they asked to use the bathroom or addressed the customer. Just spoke loudly and gruffly over people who were in the middle of a conversation. They have zero manners, will bleed you dry if you let them and should be avoided accordingly. Note there is a Yelp reviewer who moved from a 2 bedroom apartment to another 2 bedroom apartment in 2019 and was only charged $600 by this company. There are much better movers. read more

We used these movers because they came highly recommended from a coworker, and fully agree. Bogdan, AlexV, and Joey were super clear about the pricing, and even though the person moving in ahead of us ran late, these three young guys were super efficient and able to move everything in by the original deadline. You might want to make sure you have some water and granola bars or something lying around, they're usually so focused on the job they'll go until they drop. read more

I've used Excellent Quality Movers three times now and I'd recommend them to everyone. They really are excellent and quality movers. Not only are they fast and efficient, but remain positive despite moving lots and lots of heavy stuff up and down multiple floor walk ups :-) Shout out to Fred and his team for being incredible last week! I will continue to use them every time I move (but hoping that's not for awhile now). Thanks again for all of your hard work! read more

I've been joking with my wife since we moved that we should move again, even before we're ready to leave the new place, just to use these movers. They were incredibly efficient, careful, and quick without hurrying. We used these movers twice in a period of about a month: first to move from an apartment into storage, then from the storage center to a new apartment. On both occasions, the movers arrived early and went right at it. Without putting too fine a point on it, let me say this about EQ Movers: I'm not sure there's any NYC business--restaurant, locksmith, museum, you name it--that I'd recommend with less equivocation. read more

I just used EQ Movers this past weekend for my move from Cobble Hill to Brooklyn Heights. I didn't have much stuff, so it was a pretty easy move. Nonetheless, Alex and his team were great. Super nice, super professional, and super fast! They arrived about 5-10 minutes early, which was awesome. And they were done in an hour-and-a-half. Unreal. Granted, I was basically moving down the street and I only had about a studio's worth of boxes+furniture, but still. Great work. I hope these guys are still around the next time I need to move (which hopefully won't be for another decade or so), I'd definitely use them again. The only bad thing I can say is that I still paid for the full 3.5 hours even though we only needed about 1.5 hours, plus I paid extra for them to pack up my TV rather than just wrapping it in a moving blanket, but they made me aware that this would be the case when I originally scheduled the move, so it wasn't anything I didn't already know about and agree to well ahead of time. Basically, moving fucking sucks, but these guys did such an amazing job that it was almost an enjoyable experience. Definitely worth paying the money to have things done right and crazy fast rather than being cheap and bribing your friends with pizza and beer to basically break your stuff. read more

What I like: +Whenever I shop around for quotes when I move, this company is usually the cheapest or second-cheapest. Their best prices are to be had if your moving day is between the 3rd and 26th of any month and your moving day is Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. +The moving men are professional, make good use of their time, and are careful with whatever stuff they're handling What I'm neutral on: *I was missing a computer monitor when the movers left after completing the job, but I got it the next day after calling the company. It turns out that lose items are stored in special bins in the truck, which is something that could be easily overlooked. I should have checked to be sure that I had everything before they left though. What I dislike: 5 stars! I first utilized EQ Movers' services back in August when I was moving from Hell's Kitchen to Downtown Brooklyn. I'm utilizing EQ Movers' services again next month for my move to my very own apartment in Jersey City. read more

Very professional in terms of arriving 15 minutes early for paperwork, working diligently and efficiently throughout the time, and handling belongings carefully. We booked a two-man crew. To move a 400 sq ft apartment from NY to PA: 1 hr loading truck, 2.5 hr drive + tolls + gas, 1 hr unloading truck. Total around $700 including $50 tip/ person. Thought it would be cheaper based on self-estimates before the move, but overall still less than the larger, more established moving companies like U-haul. read more

These guys did a great job moving us from Bay Ridge to Gravesend. I have to say that this is the second time I use this company. Our first move was from Manhattan to Bay Ridge 1 year ago and everything went pretty well also. Even more, I didn't have a car and once they packed all of our stuff, their driver proposed to go to Bay Ridge with them, so I don't spend money/time on taxi/subway. Maybe that's a normal practice, I don't know, but whatever, it was still very nice of him. Once we came to a place, they asked us where we want to set our bed, sofa, dresser, other furniture and all that. They set up EVERYTHING. Literally (of course, not saying about clothes, food, etc.). Both times we moved. There was also one pleasant moment worth to mention. My wife was pregnant. We had a brand new baby crib, which was unassembled. We ordered it from Amazon to a new address, so it was already there before we moved in. I asked these guys to assemble the crib for a bit extra $. I was amazed! They: 1. Unpacked it. 2. Assembled. 3. And then cleaned all the garbage!!! (this is the part which actually amazed me) I have no idea about other moving companies, but Excellent Quality Movers deserve to be called that. The experience was really good and truly Excellent! :) read more

EQM impressed me. Bogdan, Maxim, and Joey were my crew and they moved me 4 miles from my 6th floor walk-up in just over an hour. They gave a call 45 min in advance to give me a heads up that they were coming, so that was appreciated. They actually arrived ~15-20 min late if memory serves, but that was fine since I wasn't done packing yet :). They quickly wrapped up small furniture items and even taped up boxes I hadn't finished taping and made moves fast. They didn't lose or damage anything I owned and no harm was done to my old or new apartment/buildings in the process. They also encouraged me to check the truck afterward to make sure everything was accounted for. Only downside was I couldn't get a price advantage from their speed of execution due to the 2-hour minimum. That said, the team executed very well and I would work with them again! p.s. Response time for quotes, cert of insurance, etc. were very quick as well before the move. That made things much less stressful for me. read more

Very professional moving service. They worked quickly, carefully, and courteously. I was the first move of the day, so they showed up a bit earlier than scheduled. The only complaint I have is that the office was closed at 8:00am on a Saturday, so they asked me to pay in cash instead of by credit card (apparently they have to call it in for approval before unloading). I hadn't planned on paying in cash, and I never carry that much with me, so I had to run to an ATM. Also, as the other reviewer mentioned, make sure you have everything packed in boxes, especially items like mirrors, electronics, or anything glass. They charge a $20 wrapping fee if these things aren't carefully packed before they arrive. read more

I can't say enough positive things about Excellent Quality Movers! In getting a quote and scheduling everything with Sergei, it was an easy and quick process. For the actual move, we had a lot of boxes and furniture to get from our Manhattan apartment to Brooklyn. The EQ team arrived within the window they promised and worked SO efficiently! They packed up and emptied our place in such a short timeframe - we were very impressed. The team of three that arrived were very nice and easy to work with. They packed up the truck so efficiently - you can just tell they are total pros! I would definitely recommend EQ for any future moves. read more

I have used EQ movers twice in the past and I'm planning to use them again for our upcoming move next month. They are FABULOUS. Each time I've used them they have come in under budget and finished the move at least 1/2 hour early. The same 3 guys were there both times, and they are polite and FAST! The first time I had planned to disassemble my bed while they were moving the living room furniture downstairs, but by the time I got up to my bedroom they had the thing taken apart and had already put it on the truck. I wasn't sure how much to tip them, and the head guy (Alex?) very honestly suggested $100.00 for all three of them - the move was quoted about $45.00 more than the final bill came to, so I gave them $150.00 because it was their effort that saved the time and I figured they earned it. Some tips: I had a LOT of books. The first time they came I thought I was making it easier on them by packing them in big boxes - I figured they would be using hand trucks because there were no stairs to climb. They do NOT use equipment if they can help it, they are just strapping, enormously strong dudes who can literally lift anything. Tables? No problem. Antique dresser? Piece of cake. Spare elephant? They're all over it. These guys could probably have moved the house itself if I asked nicely. They very politely mentioned that next time I could use smaller, lighter boxes so that they could lift them individually instead of needing two of them for each box, which I did the second time I called EQ. Be careful to wrap framed art yourself however you want it packaged. They used blankets and bubble wrap, but one piece was broken in each move. Two reframings were not TOO expensive, but I will pack them myself this time. These guys can't help it, they're too damn strong for that flimsy glass. Buy them coffee. The first time they came I had just gotten back from Dunkin Donuts when they showed up (on time, by the way, and they were not familiar with my neighborhood). I brought back a Box'O'Joe and they looked at me like I was their personal messiah when I told them it was for them. They took about 4 seconds to make themselves cups of coffee, and all I can say is that it was like giving Popeye spinach. Their forearms popped out and one of them lifted a sofa over his head with one hand to celebrate. Buy them lunch. My estimate was $595.00 to go from Brooklyn to Long Island, including a travel fee and a very modest return trip fee for when they were finished (I think it was like, $20). The hourly rate was $85. I bought them a $20 pizza. Because I bought it for them, they wolfed it down in under 1/2 hour and were back at work immediately. They came in 45 minutes under the time estimate, which works out to about $64.00. Total savings $44.00. I have heard that they take longer eating on the clock if you don't provide food (although I think some people are a bit snarky about this - they do have to go FIND a place to get food if you don't provide it, which takes time). And for those of you who say "why do they need lunch, it's only a 4 hour move" - very nice attitude, jerks. Can you help when YOU get hungry? Especially if you're moving an entire house in a matter of a couple of hours? LET THEM EAT, you spoiled brats. Don't get in their way. Ever watch a really talented chef cooking? Ever try to "help" him? DON'T. They are out of your league and your puny human efforts will only distract them from their master plan of awesome. If you get in their way enough these guys just might get fed up and throw you all the way to Nebraska. Not really, they're super friendly, but they COULD. Expect to spend $50 to $75 on materials unless you provide your own. They won't ask before they use their own. They shouldn't have to. It doesn't make them dishonest, all moving companies do the same thing. If you don't want to pay for their wrapping stuff and their boxes and tape, GIVE THEM SOME. Duh. Anyway, these guys are really great and I highly recommend them. read more

NOTE: This is the third time I have posted this review. Each time, Yelp has buried it somewhere and made it inaccessible to readers who want to have a comprehensive set of viewpoints. YELP, why do you keep removing this? This was the worst moving experience I've had in all the years I've lived and moved in New York. The quality of their service was far from excellent and the level of professionalism no where near what I had expected after having read some of the reviews. To begin, I arranged for them to arrive at 1 p.m., but they showed up 2 hours late. My permitted window for moving into my new place was between 1-5. Would they make it in time? Not even close. A move from a one-bedroom apartment with an elevator in lower Manhattan to an apartment in an elevator building just 35 blocks uptown took them 7 hours! And I was paying $115 an hour for a team of three movers. At 10 at night, they finally delivered the final box. I had to beg the super in the new building to allow me to commandeer the elevator for five additional hours. The movers themselves showed no interest in speeding things along. I ended up carrying things and unloading things myself so I could finish before midnight. But the lengthy move was only part of the miserable service. The day after the move, after sorting through my things, I discovered that they had left 2 huge items behind: a full piano keyboard and a floor lamp. These are hardly things you would miss when packing a truck. I had to go back to my former apartment building and stuff the two things into a taxi to transport them myself. When I got back to my old building, I discovered that the maintenance guys had already put the things in the garbage room for removal. A day later and the things would have been crushed and carted off. Finally, a word about their professionalism. They moved an almost new 6-drawer dresser by taking out the drawers and bundling them together with moving tape. It was no surprise that the jarring of the truck in motion banged the dresser drawers together and crushed two of the drawers and scratched the face of all 6 of the drawers. What good is a dresser with two crushed drawers that won't fit in the dresser anymore? My appeal to the owner of the company for compensation was met with a customary directive to submit an application for an insurance claim. The shocking news was that a successful claim would net me only 30 cents per pound of damage. For a dresser that was about two-years old and cost $1300, my best hope for compensation for their incompetence was about $60. In the end, the damages incurred cost me about as much as the over-extended move of 7 hours. Unfortunately, anyone choosing this company is at their mercy. They can show up late, leave your stuff behind, and damage your property. There is little you can do and no willingness on their part to do what is right. You really can't guarantee a bare minimum of service. And for protection, you would have to pay extra for insurance so you wouldn't lose even more due to their unprofessional standards. Save yourself the extra expense and misery by choosing a more reliable company. Looking back, I ask, did it not occur to them that professional service meant wrapping up everything properly and checking to make sure they had all the items in the truck? As for showing up two hours late, I should have known that it could not end well and they were not the sort of company that considered service a priority. read more

DO NOT USE THEM! I've waited a month to write this review, giving this movers plenty of time to rectify the situation, yet they seem disinclined. I'll just list everything, and try to be as brief as possible. I've moved myself 11 times in the past 12 years, so I know a little something about moving. I was looking forward to a stress-free easy move, unfortunately, it was nothing but and I've spent so much time afterwards trying to clean up after. 1. They quoted me 3 hours. It took almost 8 (EIGHT!). If we had known if was going to take that long and be that expensive, we would've moved everything ourselves. We can't afford that. They did tell me when they showed up, it would probably take a bit longer than 3 hours (they thought 4-5). I was okay with that....but it became quite ridiculous- there was a lack of efficiency in moving, making a trip into the house with two small bookshelf boards or one chair? 2. They lost our $300 Bose speaker. Speakers were in the original box, albeit a small box. movers says that they don't know where they are (we have opened every single box in case they were stuffed someplace, and looked for a month at our new and old house- they are nowhere to be found). movers keeps saying that since it was a small box, it wasn't their fault. They should be careful with expensive items, they could've handed them to one of us so we could've taken care of it, I didn't even know the speakers were sitting on a pile of boxes. The movers either lost or stole the speakers, neither of which says great things about the company. 3. Huge scratches on our wood and bamboo floors. They did send someone to look at them and supposedly a company is supposed to come fix the floors, although the scratches in the bamboo are so deep, I'm doubtful how this will be accomplished. 4. Customer service. It's great when you're booking a move, they call you right back and answer any questions. After the move, when you're having problems, not so great. I called and left message, no one called me back. I called and got a person, who said she would check on things and get back with me next morning. No call back. I emailed the next day. Finally, almost 5 days after my original call, did someone call to talk with me about all the issues I had. It's been a month and anytime I mention the lost speakers and/or the fact that the move took 2.5 times the quoted time I get the run around. Go with another company and save yourself some stress. read more

I used Excellent Quality Movers only once in my life, and I will never do so again. The movers arrived a little bit late than the scheduled time. One of the movers, Andrew, greeted me with no smile, lots of bad attitude and started lecturing on what I should do, although I explained to him that I have packed and wrapped everything and won't need any packing or wrapping help. Andrew got very angry as he was trying to sell his services (I know it's a tough sell but come on...) and said that I would be responsible for any parking tickets, if any. It was sadly believable that I heard the merchant say that the customer is responsible for any tickets. That is so rude and unfair. Then, Andrew explained that I am also responsible for paying any tolls. None of this was mentioned beforehand. I asked Andrew not to drag my furniture and my stuff on the ground, which I wrapped and covered beforehand, and Andrew had the nerve to tell me that the only way to take it out is by dragging it on the ground. From this moment I understood that Andrew has anger management issues, as he became upset with me not purchasing any of their wrapping and packing materials. Because I wanted to avoid any confrontations, I did not argue with him. Andrew intentionally asked the guys to take their time and work slowly so that they can charge me more at the end as well. After they took my bed apart, they got to the new apartment and after putting the bed parts together the bed was shaking because Andrew didn't tighten the screws well. Then, I asked him to put back the parts of the other furniture after he took them apart but refused to do so, saying that I can do it myself. Andrew also had the nerve to tell me that I should start unpacking from their loading car, instead of him doing it. Why would I unpack and do his job, when I am paying Excellent Quality Movers to unpack and unload my stuff? I have no apology or sympathy for base creatures willing to cater to the lowest common denominator to make a fast buck. People do not use this company, as it is terrible! Excellent Quality Movers will charge you extra for services that are not rendered. If you decide to go with them, make sure they do not send you Andrew, as he has is rude, has no manners, class, and can't even speak proper English. Andrew had also the nerve to tell me at the end of the move I should tip his guys a $50 tip each. Despite my terrible experience because I am a nice person, I gave all three a FAT tip. read more

I had used Excellent Quality Movers in the past and it was great, but after a recent experience, I can no longer recommend them. So following my move a few years ago, I reached back out to Sergei to schedule my next move. We went back and forth a couple times, and he eventually convinced me to use 4 movers instead of 3 because it would be faster and save me money, which was also good because the building I was moving out of and into, had moving hours, so time of was the essence so as to not get fined for moving outside of moving hours. He confirmed 4 movers for my move date, so to my surprise on my move date, only 3 movers showed up. These guys were fine, but not nearly as fast as the guys I had a few years ago. Things were made even slower by the fact that they were sent with the smallest truck available. This added to the time needed to move as they needed to constantly rearrange the truck in order to fit all of our stuff in it. This is made more shocking when you realize we didn't take our couches with us. Had we brought our couches to our new place, they wouldn't have fit in the truck. I don't know how this is even possible, but somehow, despite being told we had a 2 bedroom, and not bringing our couches (which we didn't let them know) they still sent a truck that could barely fit all of our stuff. Also, when I left the first apartment and went to the second one, it took 45 minutes for the truck to show up. Now if they went to lunch, that's fine, I get they need to eat, but let us know that ahead of time instead of just not showing up for 45 minutes. Long story short, all of this lead to them taking more than 9 hours to move us 6 blocks, and we got fined for moving outside of the move-in window at the new building. Sergei told me not to worry because they'd only charge us for 3 guys, but considering he told us getting 4 guys would save us money, I don't feel like this was a good enough of a make good, especially when you consider that we got fined. He refused to give us any other discount for this mess. Long story short, the movers themselves were fine, nothing special like the last time, but they were fine, everything else was a complete mess. I have gone from highly recommending EQM 5 years ago, to saying you need to steer clear of these guys now. read more

I found myself in a bind and needed movers asap from Kew gardens Queens to Mott st in Manhattan. On November 10 @ 2259hrs I got on crag list and click on movers via labor, click on Quality Movers and my search was over. That being said, I called and spoke to Alex and it was clear and to the point from how much base fare $ 125.00 and if they get a ticket (parking) guess who pays lol yes ME, too the traveling would be the killer. Alex called me the day before to ensure we were on for tomorrow which was November 15 @ 9 am. I was up at 730 am after I showered got dressed had coffee. I left the house to go to the bank to get cash @846 am and my two men and a van were outside ready. I was a happy camper. After that it was a wrap. The Men (and sorry I can't recall there names, however I called them my 2 men and a van. Anyway was worried as they park by the meters and had till 930 am to move. They came upstairs it was like boom boom boom in what was going and what I need such as a box for loose things to no they would not take my plants they rather I take my own plants because they will not make it in one piece. I was trying to help however, the best way to help was STAY OUT THERE WAY, which I did. This how it went they were here @ 9 am packed the truck and left @ 930 am. I got to Mott st first unsure were they were I called Alex and he let me know exactly were my Men were on his GPS (loving it). My men arrived a little after me. They found parking right in front of the building and by 11 am I was signing on the dotted line and paid what Alex said I would was which was $ 125 and I tip my Men $25 each. I wish I could have given more but times are hard and I live on a budget. Note: Granted all I had to move was about 20 boxes, bins and 2 ward rope closet but I'm sure given a bigger job they would do the same BEST JOB EVER. In writing this a friend called and I just gave her Alex number and let her know small or big JOBS these are the guys to call and I gave her Alex contact information and I locked in my cell and will forward to anyone looking for 2 MEN and a VAN. these guys are seriously the real thing-- they definitely lived up to their name! our team-- mike, alex, anatoly, and viktor-- were all fast, hardworking, and professional movers, as well as very nice guys. i totally recommend them! after calling up and talking to a few other moving companies i found on craigslist, i decided to go with EQM because they had the best rate i could find for a 4-man team and a 26' truck, and because the person i spoke to, jack, was very courteous and professional. this was about a week before our moving day, december 2nd. later that afternoon, jack sent me a very detailed and informative email confirming our date and price quote and clearly explaining their policies. and when i emailed back with a question, he promptly replied with a helpful answer. and he gave me a call the evening before the 2nd to confirm. after a really tough week of packing up our old apartment-- a 3 bedroom with 10 years of accumulated stuff (!), it was actually a relief when sunday morning came and the team showed up. in fact, the actual moving day was the least stressful day of our whole moving process! right away, we were put at ease by their friendly demeanor. we did a walk-through of all the rooms, and the lead guy, mike, gave us his assessment of how much time he thought it'd take them for the whole thing. it was definitely under what we had expected. they immediately got to work, and we knew we were in good hands. we were amazed at how fast and efficiently they worked, without complaint and with a sense of humor, too. i had at least a few extremely heavy boxes, which i felt kind of bad about, so when i happened to see one of the guys pick one up and jokingly make a face while the other guys laughed, it made me feel a little better. they were also very careful with everything they touched. the whole move took 7 hours (including travel time), but as i said, we had a ton of stuff. we were completely happy with the job they did and would certainly hire them again. thank you, EQM, for making our move as painless and stress-free as possible! read more

I found Excellent Quality Movers on here because they had excellent reviews that made me feel comfortable using their service. I'd been preparing for the move to a new place a mile away for weeks and had most of my items already organized and boxed up. They said I had to have my miscellaneous items in a box too, so they charged me $20 to use their open container and dolly, loaded up my golf clubs, clothes drying rack and a few smaller items, but did not seal the container and didn't add it to my inventory list. When I signed for the boxes and counted them at my new place, the list didn't include the open container, and I didn't notice I was missing my golf clubs until later that night. However, my clothes drying rack and smaller items survived the move. The next day I contacted the company about my missing golf clubs, and my contact throughout the whole move apologized and offered $150 for them or instructed me to file a claim. But since I didn't buy extra insurance for the move, I'm apparently insured only $0.30 per pound. I went back to my old apartment the same day and looked at the closed circuit TV with the building manager, which showed the movers loading up the golf clubs. Then I asked the building manager at my new apartment building if I could see the CCTV for the move in. It clearly showed my drying rack and smaller items in the open container - the last thing to be moved in - but the golf clubs were missing in the video footage. I'm still working with the insurance company to file the claim. At this point I'm not expecting much from Excellent Quality Movers but might pursue this in small claims. In the meantime I want to get my warning out there as soon as possible: Beware Excellent Quality Movers. They not only lost (or stole) my golf clubs but the experience trying to resolve this has been really disappointing and stressful. read more

WOW! There aren't enough words to describe how amazing our move went! We moved from a one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn to a house in NJ. After receiving a quote from another company for $2500, we were about to call it quits and move ourselves. Then my husband found Excellent Quality Movers and saw other reviewers talk about the great service and prices. $85/hr for 3 men! We thought there would be a catch, but even with travel fees our move was only about $700 total. WOW! Alex B. was professional and so efficient! He disassembled and reassembled all of our Ikea furniture with lightening speed. His team were polite and hardworking. We practically had to beg them to take a break and eat the Subway sandwiches we bought for them. We started our move at 9:00 a.m. in Brooklyn and the whole truck was unloaded (including furniture assembled) by 3:30 p.m. in NJ. We NEVER could have done it that well or fast ourselves! All of our furniture was handled with such care by Alex B. and his team (Tonye? and I didn't catch the other man's name). They wrapped each dresser with blankets and taped over the blanket to keep the drawers secure. When unloading the truck at our NJ home, they politely asked us where we wanted each item/box and cautiously made sure not to ding any walls. Because the prices are so low, I assume these men are probably not paid as well as other moving companies (just my assumption, not a fact!!). Either way, they were so hardworking and speedy that we gave them each a nice tip to hopefully compensate for the possibility of low wages. They deserve every penny and more for all the grief they saved us! HIRE THESE GUYS! It'll be the best money you spend and save you from a lot of headaches (and back aches!). read more

Spoke to Sergiet the owner of Excellent Quality Movers and quoted me a great price for a truck and three men. I had to cancel the move three times and had no problem with any of the cancellations. Sergie is very nice, courteous, and will to work with his customers. Moved was this month June 2011, for 8:30 A.M...the truck, Alex, Danny, and the driver showed up before 8:30 A.M. Alex came up with all the paper work and explain everything which made it simple and easy for me to understand filled out. He took a look around to see how many boxes and piece were going in the truck. Than he went back down to get some tape and Danny came up with him and they started to move boxes right on time 8:30 A.M. This was a walk-up 4th floor moved from Queens to the Bronx, and these two guys were going up and down these stairs as if nothing...they never complained about how heavy any of the boxes I packed up were. These young men are very professional at their job, fast, respectful, and polite. They were done in no time and in the Bronx right after I got there. They has everything in my Bronx, apartment in about half an hour and nothing was damage on the moved. The best thing about Excellent Quality Movers is how they treat their customers with respect, the price and the professional movers...I highly recommend them. Sergie, Alex, Danny and the truck driver thank you so very much for a job well done. If I ever had to move again "which I hope not for a very long time" I would not use any other moving company as long as you are still in business. Sincerely, Queens, to Bronx read more

I just wanted to say some good things about the crew of Michael from the EQM. The guys were truly professional and looked sometimes even like the army to me :-). All of them were uniformed and demonstrated great teamwork, obviously saving time and money of their client through the perfect organization of the moving process. In Operations Management we are calling it "the well-oiled machine". The whole job of moving our 1BR apartment from Brooklyn to Manhattan took reasonable 4 hours, taking into account that not everything was packed properly by me and my wife. The guys came right on time and had to organize the wheeled "supply route" to their truck along our street, since no parking was available nearby. To keep them running I bought some water, cause they also had to do some stairs and our sofa was really heavy. All our furniture and music came to the new location with very few scratches, for what I want to give special thanks to the crew. Two items I ordered to be wrapped in bubble came intact at all. After unloading they assembled the bed, since there were still 5 minutes left to the deadline; from what I see they tried to provide value to the client for all of his money instead of "stretching time" in the last hour of work. All in all, our couple spent less time for moving than we expected and I tipped the guys $70 each also because they did the job one hour faster then we expected them to. In the case of EQM the saying "one move is equal to two fires" is not true. Honestly ;-). read more

Sergei and his team know what they're doing. These RUSSIANS ROCK!! Ignore the Whiney negative reviews/comments on this thread.... These guys are legit!! Just moved on 8/24/2014 and everything went very smoothly. Had a HUGE West Elm bed with side tables & storage drawers. (See link below) The Move leader efficiently dismantled that monster, taped it, hauled it and re-assembled it at no extra charge. http://www.westelm.com/products/3736501/?catalogId=36&sku=3736501&bnrid=3918508&cm_ven=Google_PLA&cm_cat=Furniture&cm_pla=Beds&cm_ite=West_Elm_Storage_Platform_Bedset%2C_1_Headboard%2C_1_Bed_Frame_with_Drawers_-_Full%2C_Chocolate&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=33-333647637-2 Requested 4 guys @ $105/hour which is a steal since I was moving prior to the end of the month when the prices are higher and you get less help for your money. Tried to go with Flatrate; Ben Hur and others... They all quoted me over $1000, FlatRate was $1350. "F" that!!! Told Sergei that if we can do this move for $500 bucks then you got a deal. He and his team were true to their word and performance... $505.50 total and I had A LOT of stuff... I also helped carry it which enabled us to finish in 2hrs 19mins.... That includes from the point of arrival to emptying one apartment, dismantling the WEST ELM monster bed to dropping everything off at the new place and putting that bed back together. So happy I hired these guys... Don't play yourself, Call Sergei/EQM NOW! read more

I had such a great experience with Excellent Quality Movers that I had to write them an awesome review. Rhine and his team did such a fantastic job moving my one-bedroom apartment. Each of the three guys worked with only minor breaks for about 5 hours. It took longer than I anticipated, but mainly because I hadn't packed a few things properly (lots of little things to pack/repack) and Rhine was really courteous and polite (and PATIENT!) the whole time. He explained the pricing of packaging things and was really professional about everything. His team worked diligently to pack and load/unload everything, and they were all friendly and courteous the whole time. It was so late when we finished and they even offered to reassemble the couch that had the legs taken off...I'm still unpacking but so far everything is in very good shape, nothing broken or lost, which is really comforting after planning a very last minute move. I should mention, Jack (who I booked the moving appointment with) was also really helpful and accommodated my last minute request for movers and even fit me in to the end of the day schedule (although I wouldn't recommend starting a move at 7pm, it's a long friggin day.) I just wanted to write and give Rhine and his team a good shout out, they really are fantastic! I'll definitely be recommending them to my friends and family in the future. I already have a friend who's planning to move by Aug 1 who is booking them for the move. read more

These movers are simply terrific: punctual, professional, conscientious. They definitely live up to their name Excellent Quality. We hired three guys for a large 1-BR move within Brooklyn and they not only moved our things, they also helped pack up loose ends when it became clear we weren't as prepared as we thought we were. They also extra-secured furniture and "soft" items. For example, I bought a plastic couch cover that I taped over our couch but they redid it much more securely with a furniture pad and plastic that covered the whole thing (no gaps like with the flimsy cover I bought). It arrived in perfect condition, as did everything else. We also had put soft items like towels and sweaters in industrial garbage bags. They put these in boxes before moving. Brilliant. They clearly know what they're doing. The crew leader also checked with us about any items that seemed to have prior damage. It was minor, but I really appreciated his attention to everything and that the communication was so clear and up front. And the price was half of what I had budgeted for the move. Downright inexpensive, especially for the exceptional quality. It would have been worth it at double the cost (so tip the guys well). In short, I was really impressed with these movers. I would use them again and will recommend them to everyone I know. read more

Moving is no fun and I've done it a few times before, but the move by this company was one of the worst experience of my life. Initially, one of their sales people, Sergei, came to my house and gave me a quote of about $1,800. I was essentially moving a 2-bedroom apartment within Astoria with some items to storage. It sounded like a better deal than what some other company offered so I went with these guys. It turned out to be a really bad mistake. Despite the initial estimate, the move with this company ended up costing me almost $3,000! That's not even the worst part. They ruined my living room coffee table and end table which cost several thousand dollars. It was later disclosed by the movers that they placed my brushed metal tables directly onto the metal floor of their truck without any padding whatsoever. Metal on metal. An entire side on each of the two tables are irreparably scratched. When I informed Sergei of the damage, he just stressed that I'd better pay them for the move, which I did. Sadly, they don't offer any insurance options. I asked about it right before the move and was told that they don't offer any. That should have been my red flag right there but I felt that it was too late for me to go with anyone else at that point because I had to move from the premises. Use this company at your own risk! read more

Great job!!!!!!Can not be any happier!!! Thanks, guys, for making my move to CT such a smooth, hassle and stress free experience. We've been recently relocating from 2 bedroom Brooklyn apartment to the townhouse in CT and were lucky enough to hire Excellent Quality movers Everything was done excellently - Alex and his crew arrived 15 min earlier, packed all our stuff, disassembled furniture, wrapped everything in a professional manner (i moved few times and never seen such a quality job). Guys left the old apartment 10 minutes earlier than us and got to the new place before we did. Unloading process went even quicker - they put all the furniture pieces together, brought our boxes into the exact rooms my wife asked them to, and even took all the empty boxes downstairs for us!!! The entire job was done within 8 hours, and the total cost came to be exactly as estimated, no hidden b*s* fees or charges. We gave $100 tip to each guy (which is very adequate considering quality and the amount of work they had done for us) and they seemed to be happy. I will definitely use EQ Movers in the future, and have already recommended them to my friends, who are looking to move to their new place soon. Thank you guys for such an EXCELLENT job!! Greatly done!!! Sincerely, Sam and Jane read more

These guys were great! Alex and his crew arrived 15 minutes early, got to work immediately, were efficient, & careful with all of my furniture. They even took extra time repairing a cheap dresser that was coming apart (I told them not to worry about it but they took a few minutes to reinforce the back for me). They arrived at the new building at almost exactly the same time we did. They unloaded everything quickly & had no issues carrying my two piece sectional sofa up 5 flights of stairs when it wouldn't fit in the elevator. They worked very quickly - even though they were dealing with a very slow elevator. They were polite and professional. Price was very reasonable - their hourly rate, including the cash discount, was by far the best I was quoted. As for the reviews complaining of extra fees - if you have all your stuff packed and ready to go you can avoid those fees. They will charge extra for any boxes they have to supply - but they will give you the exact costs for that kind of stuff in the quote they email to you so there are no surprises. I've moved a lot in my lifetime and have dealt with a lot of bad and a lot of "so-so" moving companies. These were the best I've ever worked with. I would happily use them again! read more

These guys live up to their name. My move with them was surprisingly painless. Great communication at the planning stage, then on moving day the team arrived on time, worked fast and nonstop, and were careful with my stuff. They placed things where I asked and untaped anything they'd wrapped for protection. The movers went above and beyond: A few hours after they'd left I noticed one piece was missing (a seat cushion; my fault for not securing it better), despite my earlier assuring the guys I had everything and seeing them double-check the truck before leaving. So I texted Andre, the foreman, and got a response very soon after, saying he'd alert the dispatcher and ask someone to look in the truck. Shortly after that he called back to say EQ had located the cushion and he'd pick it up and drop if off after his current project was finished. That second job was out of state, in a different truck, so he went out of his way and worked late to get the cushion to me. These guys are great and professional. In fact, Andre went over the contract upon arrival to confirm terms and to explain what I was signing. I had a bad experience with my previous move with another company, but on this job, I felt right away that I was in good hands. read more

I felt compelled to write my first Yelp review ever because of the exceptional experience I had with Excellent Quality Movers - their service is true to their name. Tim and his colleagues arrived on time (10 min early actually), and were kind, professional, and extremely efficient in getting all my furniture and boxes moved between boroughs in NYC. Even when everything out of our control went wrong (the building I was moving out of shut down the elevators, and I got locked out of my new apartment), the movers never ceased being professional and patient in working around these roadblocks. They got all my belongings to my new location as quickly as possible, with absolutely no damage, including delicate lamps, some framed items, delicate furniture, and electronics. They were very transparent about their policies and costs as well, and were able to competently answer all my questions. I also found the pricing to be competitive and fair, and would not hesitate to hire them again. Their truck was clean and only held my items, plus some extra packing supplies like moving blankets and tape. The next time I move, I will call them first, and I will recommend them to all family, friends, and colleagues who need a moving service. read more

This was the first time I have ever used movers in my history of moving. I always did it on my own. My bf and I decided to invest in movers, and boy am I so happy we did. They showed up early. I met Alex, whom i could title the foreman/ boss of the job. He was SO polite, and wonderful. He came in, reviewed our 1 bed apt, went out to the other 2 gentlemen, the rest of the team, and they began immediately. First they came early, then they started to work right away, i was SHOCKED!! Every time I looked, another bunch of things were moved out. We also have 2 cats...and the men actually de-linted the couch for us...I was ashamed for the mess, but ecstatic that they helped with that. They had the place packed within a few hours. The only snag, which was NOT their fault, was finding the new place...but with simple directions, they found their way, unloaded the truck, put the boxes where I asked them to, and they were on their way. Again, the BEST decision we made, and we WILL be recommending their services to friends and family, as well as using them for our next, and hopefully final move. You'd be sorry not to take them on! Hope this helps. Thank you Alex and team! read more
