I worked with Alex and two other young men (one other mover and one driver). These guys are fantastic. First of all, EQ was straightforward about when the movers would arrive and how long it would take and cost, so I knew what to expect. I had a few stops in my move (first to pick up a couch and then to pick up a table, both before they moved everything from my old apartment to my new one) and they handled the entire thing with care and efficiency, mindful of my belongings and my time. They were also very cautious about parking and made sure they weren't parked outside in a way that would give me ticket fines, which I appreciated. They were great guys and very patient picking up the couch and with a four-floor walk-up. EQ Movers is not extremely cheap, but is absolutely worth the care and professionalism. I recommend them for any move. read more

These guys are waaaaaaaaaaay the best movers that we've ever used. They were cheap, moved everything really quickly, and even took apart and reassembled some of our furniture. That Ikea bed must have taken me 2 hours to put together, but they put it back in minutes! Not a single thing broke or spilled either. read more

i wrote a previous review about how the delivery guys demanded a greater tip. my post was erased b/c the owner got in touch with me trying to straighten it out, but i didn't feel like dealing with it so they must have taken it down. i'm giving them one extra star for trying to resolve my problem this time, but feeling threatened after a stressful move just isn't worth it. sorry john "the owner" make sure your guys don't pressure for a tip and this will never happen. thanks read more

These guys did our move in February 2014, on the most disgusting slushy snowy freezing day of the year. I was just thinking about them, because we're moving again (this time, cross country), and I wish I could hire them. The movers were incredibly professional, fast, and careful, while dealing with the absolute worst weather conditions. They did a fantastic job for a very fair price. read more

These guys were incredibly helpful, nice, and professional both over the phone and in person. Everything went smoothly and painlessly. They were thorough and no-nonsense and broke down the non-optional and optional expenses, such as wrapping options, very clearly. For example we had a large plain mirror, and the foreman discussed how much it would cost us to wrap it up very very securely vs. just wrapping it in blankets for free. Because it wasn't a very valuable mirror he suggested it was probably *not* worth paying to wrap it up professionally, but on the other hand just using blankets there was a decent chance it could break, being a thin mirror in the truck with everything else. We decided to risk not wrapping it up, and happily it didn't break either! We paid for our more valuable large items (framed artwork) to be wrapped and boxed and they did a great job. They also frankly went over our options for parking: park closer in a no-parking spot and risk an $80 ticket, park further and pay the extra time it would take for them to walk to and from the truck. They were the cheapest rate we received ($120/hour for 4 movers) and they worked fast and without breaks and we got our 2 bedroom apartment packed full of stuff (we'd already boxed everything except some large pictures) loaded, driven over, and unloaded in under 5 hours. All of our furniture wrapped well (and disassembled and re-assembled where necessary) and we didn't notice any damage on anything. read more

EQ Movers was recommended to me by a friend who had a great experience, and when I called their price was by far the most reasonable. Just moved with EQ this past Sunday and it went so amazingly smooth! Kama's team rocked it, they packed and loaded everything super fast and unloaded it even faster. I was especially impressed with how easily and expertly they managed to get my heavy sleeper sofa up a very narrow, steep, winding stair! Very professional, I would hands down recommend them to anyone. Thanks Kama! read more

Mixed bag. Move was fast, efficient, timely and inexpensive. We were pleased on that front. However, they overcharged us on the day of the move and that was pretty disappointing. They tried to charge us for additional travel time not previously agreed and they also charged us extra to wrap and transport certain items that we had discussed in the estimate and no additional charges were discussed. Finally, some furniture is in slightly worse shape than when picked up (one leg on a chair is broken and needs to be fixed). They also ignore boxes labeled fragile and 'please don't stack.' They are fine and probably worth it when it comes to value, but we probably wont use them again given our experience. Especially if we get nicer stuff. I'd be happy to have them make it up to us, but don't really expect anything coming our way. read more

First of all Sergey was great in getting back always and he came and gave a quote that was very reasonable and he was always responsive and the price he gave was the price he charged. Now to the actual moving, Alex and his crew were awesome. Their were 4 of them (Alex the foreman) and they did an awesome job they worked and worked and did everything well and marked everything and were careful as nothing broke. In addition, some huge items such as our beds didn't fit in our new elevator. And they had to carry the items up to the 6th floor through the stairs. They did an maxing job and a great attitude. I would give them 10 stars and would recommend them and use them anytime. read more

Based on my experience with them, Excellent Quality Movers' scam is clear: Step 1: Quote very low hourly rates. Step 2: Use the first 30 minutes to sign paperwork, load as slowly as possible, and turn a 30 minute drive between apartments into a 1h 30m one. Step 2: After arriving at the new place, refuse to unload until you pay them. This might be ok except that the bill they give you is 2x what they quoted you. Step 3: When the customer naturally refuses to pay the extra costs that were sprung on them, threaten to drive off with their belongings. Get in the truck and drive away, actually just around the block, but make the poor movee think that you've actually taken off with their things. Step 4: When the poor movee finally gives in to the blackmail, make them sign 5 separate documents saying fun things like "I will not dispute this credit card charge" and "Everything was delivered in perfect condition" (even though they haven't unpacked anything yet). When the movee points out that they have unpacked anything yet and so they can't possibly sign, say "that's ok, you don't need to sign, we'll just take your stuff with us and go." Step 5: After unloading to the curb, ask for a tip. Make sure to say that 25% is normal. When the movee refuses to give a tip because of the blackmail and the fact that nothing has be moved into the apartment yet, say "Oh look, your time's up! Have fun moving it the rest of the way. Unless you want to pay us for another hour." Step 6: Intentionally damage goods in the process. Please, read all of the 1 star reviews here and pick a different moving company. You'll have nothing but trouble with Excellent Quality Movers and that is the last thing you want when you're moving. Keywords: letmehandlethis@gmail.com, eqmovers.com, EQ Movers read more

The name says it all. They are excellent quality movers. The team headed up by Alex "the boxer" is incredible.

I must say that these guys were nothing but pros. They came in wraped up everything, and made sure anything was going to get damaged. I am still in awe, that the amount of stuff I had was moved with in 3 hours! Best rate, no hidden cost, these guys are the best. Now, my wife and I did take apart the bed, and remove any glass tops or doors before hand. That made everything run smoother, and cheaper. If you are looking for the best price in moving, then make sure to do these things before they come. It saves time, and time is money! Again, I can not tell you how amazed we were of how fast, and all around pros these guys were. read more

We live on Upper West side and recently moved from one apartment to another. We were worried about the moving company after hearing all the horror stories about rates and delays but I'm glad we decided to use Excellent Quality Movers. They patiently waited outside when we had issues with access to the building we were moving to and did not even charge us for extra time! All items were packaged properly and moved very quickly. The entire move only took few hours. Thank you Excellent Quality Movers! read more

EQ moved us from 2 locations (my work studio and our apartment) to one (apts were 3rd story walkups). They arrived promptly and worked quickly and efficiently. We have a *lot* of stuff and they were totally professional and agreeable about it (plus it was raining!). They quoted me 90/hr for 4 men and a truck, which is a great price. We bought a few boxes for larger items (tv, etc) and rented a bin, and the entire shebang took about 7 hours. We tipped $80 per man, which given the amount of work these guy did seems totally fair to me (think about moving all your crap yourself and see if an extra 80 bucks doesn't seem like a fair tip). Super pros - they even declined an offer of donuts, but maybe Russians hate donuts. I'll have to research that one. I would use them again in a heartbeat (but I love our apartment so I hope I don't have to!) and recommend them unreservedly. read more

I just moved to NYC from Canada, and used EQ movers to move my belongings from PODS in Queens to Manhattan and the experience was exceeded expectations. The move took under 4 hours which included travel time from Queens into an elevator building for 7x7 feet storage pod worth of boxes and furniture. The team of 3 was super quick and efficient and the price was so affordable. EQ movers provided a 30 minute window for pick up (other companies provided 2 hour windows) and arrived at pick up location before the window time. I recommend these guys and will use them again in the future! Thank you!!! read more

Jack and the team at Excellent Quality Movers are the best. They have helped me with a few moves over the years, and always provide careful, considerate, timely and professional service. Excellent Quality movers offers very affordable rates and easy to understand agreements - no hidden costs! They go above and beyond to help during moves, even putting my bed and frame back together in my new place. I have recommended them to others and no one is ever disappointed. I'd use them again and again! read more

We used EQ Movers for a long distance move 3 weeks ago with 2 trucks and 4 guys and they could not have been any better. They arrived on-time at 8am, packed both trucks professionally, drove 5 hours away, unpacked everything and drove back to NYC. Not one thing was damaged and all the guys were a pleasure to work with. Sergei helped me coordinate the move and was also great. I would highly recommend them for all NYC moves both large and small. read more

We moved on 5/26/11, and got a special discounted rate for moving before the "end of the month," which saved s $10 per hour. The guys were half an hour early (they called to make sure that was okay, and we were thrilled to get started!), and were very professional. They did an efficient job. My only complaint is that we paid them to wrap our mattress, and the siran wrap they used tore. Rust from the truck stained one corner of the mattress. It wouldn't be a big deal, except that it voided our warranty on it, so that kind of sucks. We should have gotten a bag for it ahead of time. Oh well. I don't hold it against them. They were by far the cheapest licensed and insured movers I found in extensive searching. They also offered no complaints whatsoever when the elevator broke down on the last trip from the van to the apartment, and shlepped heavy book boxes up 2 flights of stairs. I would definitely recommend them, and will use them again in the future. read more

Used these guys yesterday to move from Astoria to Glendale. They showed up 20 mins. early (which I expected from the reviews). Moved from a 1 bedroom first floor to a 3 bedroom 3rd floor. They were very quick and took the time to wrap everything in blankets. Charged $40 to put the TV in bubble wrap and boxes. (I did think that was steep) but it got there safe and sound. They went over the 3 hour min. by 30 mins, but they moved all the stuff up the three flights of stairs super fast! Nothin broke or scratched, was very happy with the movers. $320 plus tip isn't bad for the move. Would really say use these guys if you are moving! read more

I recently used Excellent Quality Movers for a move from the Upper East Side to Midtown. I have moved 3 times in 4 years, however this was the first with hired movers. I was quite nervous in the beginning as I am particular and always worried of my furniture and accessories being damaged and/or scratched. The staff was excellent and made sure everything that had potential to be damaged was carefully wrapped and protected. In addition, the staff was friendly and personable. What really made me happy was that they estimated to show up between 2-3:30pm and were at my apartment at 1:57pm ready to go. Although I hope not to move for another few years or so, i will definitely use this company again and it is highly recommended. read more

These guys are life savers! I had to find last minute movers. After discussing with Sergei the details of my move, I was quoted the best rate compared to other companies. The day of the move everything was done quickly and efficiently. The movers were very experienced. I barely had to lift a finger through the entire move, which took 4 hours. There were no hidden costs or charges. Everything was as discussed over the phone and email. read more

I used EQ movers to move from Manhattan to Jersey City. From start to finish, everything went as smooth as could possibly be expected. Sergey, who answers the phone was always very helpful and pleasant. He gave us an estimate which was way cheaper than other companies. Truck arrived on time, crew was professional and friendly. Everything was wrapped in blankets, free of charge. They moved all of our stuff down a very narrow flight of stairs without a single mark. These guys were fantastic. Did more than I asked for. They obviously care about what they do. No loss, no damage to items or my home. Overall, I would hire again. This was probably the best move I've ever had. read more

Sergei, A quick note of thanks for Excellent Quality Movers handling our move to Northern CT. Andre, Alex and Roman worked nonstop. They were gentlemanly and unobtrusive; their teamwork and maturity very evident. To move a full 2 bedroom apartment 100 miles in 7 hours door to door is nothing short of Olympic. And the cost was 1/2 of my other estimates. I feel very lucky to have found you. These guys were amazing! I had Alex K and his crew for my move. They showed up on time and within 45 minutes had moved everything from my third floor walk up one bedroom to their truck. Overall I couldn't be happier. They got everything into the new place during the time window quoted. Price was reasonable. I would definitely recommend them for any move! read more

This company came to me through Yelp quotes. They were the most reasonable and had decent reviews, so my husband and I booked them for our move on a Saturday morning. 3 men showed up with their lead, Andre, to move our apartment - so 4 movers total. Andre was exceptionally professional and all other guys had the move down to a science. They moved us out of our one bedroom, walkup (2nd fl from the ground level) building into a two bedroom elevator building in about 3.5hrs - they did the best job with nothing damaged, and placed all of the labeled boxes into corresponding rooms - perfect for an exceptionally organized gal like me. All furniture was shrink-wrapped or wrapped with blankets perfectly, and arrived safe and sound. They came in around $700 - amazingly reasonable - and were worth every penny. Thanks, EQ Movers! read more

I would not recommend "Excellent Quality Movers"!  They were terrible. I would advise not using "Excellent Quality Movers". After reading reviews about EQM I hired them to move my studio apartment (both elevator buildings) both apartments are within Manhattan (very short distance within same neighborhood). Here is what happened: 1.  They showed up late.  They promised to arrive between 12noon and 1pm but they actually arrived at 1:30pm. This is important because the buildings only allow elevator use from 9-5pm. Their late arrival and slow process went beyond the 5pm limit so I had to pay an additional $200 to use the elevator after 5pm. 2.  They demanded payment in cash before the job was complete.  When I said I'd pay when the job was complete, they unloaded the truck and started to drive away. 3.  They demanded that I pay them extra in cash for additional hours before any extra hours were needed.  When I said that I'd only pay for extra hours if they're actually needed, they replied that I must pay for extra hours up-front and if the hours aren't used that they would "refund" me.  When I refused, they again unloaded my boxes onto the street and started to drive away. 4.  As soon as I paid them in cash for extra hours their work slowed down dramatically, taking breaks, smoking, bathroom, casual chatting with each other, not working, and telling me to get them bottles of water. 5.  Even after I paid in cash for extra hours, they still didn't work for the extra hours, claiming the job was done, even though there was still furniture and many boxes remaining.  They literally got in their truck and drove away.  I had to call the office (Jack) to tell them that they must come back.  Only after I called Jack, then they drove back. 6.  They never assembled my bed.  They just left it for me to assemble. 7.  Even after the poor effort they showed, they still asked me to pay them more tip money. 8.  They didn't pack my furniture well.  The leather bed headboard was dragged along the rough chipped wooden floor of the truck. 9.  They made me sign away liability in about 9 or 10 different places absolving them from anything even if it was their fault.  If I didn't sign it, they would refuse to finish their work. 10.  When the work was half done (arrived at new address with furniture unloaded from truck onto street but not yet brought up to my new apartment) they forced me to sign documents saying that the job was complete.  When I refused to sign (I said I will sign the completion documents once the job is complete), they stopped working and started to drive away while all my furniture was on the street. They obviously asked me at that moment because I had no choice but to agree under duress. 11.  When they started to unload the truck at the destination, they also forced me to sign documents saying that there was no damage to anything, even before the job was complete.  How could I sign a document saying there's no damage before the job was complete?  When I said I'd sign it after the job was done, they again started to drive away. I had no choice because all my furniture was on the street sidewalk. 12.  They charged me $105 per hour.  They had a 3.5 hour minimum which is 3 hour minimum for labor plus 0.5 hour minimum for travel (actual travel was only about 4 blocks distance, same exact neighborhood) but they forced me to pay for more hours than that.  Plus they charged me $30 extra to pack my TV, and also $30 extra to wrap my mattress and box spring.  They charged me $7 for parking.  They charged me $60 for 2 certificates of insurance (one COI for each building). read more

DO NOT USE - ABSOLUTE LET DOWN We had them booked for Friday removals. We had 2 x 1 bed apartments to move to a 2 bed apartment - We'd spoken with Adam, all was good to go - Spoke to him the day before to confirm the move, and it was all done Friday comes, 12noon time booked in.... 11:45 were called to say they will be an hour late. Annoying, but we'll accept that as it is NY after all. 1pm, 2pm, 3pm - I've called them over 5 times, no response and then the guy answers and sounds like he's never heard of me before (I spoke to him at 11:45). Tells me he will be 30 minutes. an hour later, nothing. 4pm a different guy calls me to say he will be 30 minutes. We have to be moved out as new people move in Saturday.... massively panicking....5pm comes, I call the another 5 times and he finally answers and says he isnt coming as he doesnt have the time to move 2 apartments into one and they dont do that.... We had to rent a zipvan and rush for 7 hours to move all of our stuff to our apartment ourselves. No apology, infact all we got was a rude guy on the phone. I've since heard other examples of them doing this, as they find better 'easier' offers on the day and drop the tougher jobs. If you want to move apartments in Manhattan, go with a proper company and pay a bit more - I certainly will next time. read more

Nothing but fantastic remarks for this moving company. Recently moved from Baltimore to Boston. The entire process was smooth - from the multiple calls with Jack at the main office to the moment the moving crew showed up. The 3 person moving crew was Max, Joseph, and Andrew - all of them were extremely professional, courtesy, and hard working. Their answer to everything was "of course" and really worked non-stop from the moment they arrived. They were on-time, available to call/text before and after to answer any questions and to communicate things about moving elevators/loading docks, and all around just a great experience. Yes, we would've preferred a contract signed "ahead of time" instead of when they showed up that morning but I guess that's just the way the company does business. And just like they said, they quoted a price beforehand, walked around my apartment the morning of the move to eyeball everything, and the final price was that exact quoted amount - no strings attached or curveballs. Overall an A+ experience and when we move again from here next year, I will be using them again. read more

Last year I moved cross-country and the experience was terrible, which left me nervous about this year's move from 94th street to New Jersey. Thanks to yelp, I found excellent quality movers. They had their insurance paperwork on file with my building the day I booked them, confirmed three times before the move, and there was no deposit required. They showed up 15 minutes early, moved the truck so they wouldn't get a ticket, and moved my studio apartment to Jersey in 3 hours. They were courteous, not big on small talk and asked to use the bathroom a lot, but very nice and nothing was broken. Also, they were $400 cheaper than other quotes, even factoring in the tip. These movers were fantastic. Jack was a delight to deal with, he responded to emails very quickly. He also called the day before to confirm with me that everything was set. They came 40 minutes earlier than the scheduled time. And the day they came it was almost 100 degrees out, but they were still super quick loading and unloading all the boxes and large furniture we had. We paid exactly what was quoted, which was extremely cheap, other companies I've spoken to, prior to finding EQ movers, quoted me at triple the price. This is definitely the company to go with to ensure a smooth moving day. read more

Go team Fred! We hired Excellent Quality Movers (Fred's team) to help us move out of the city. This was a BIG MOVE and we hired them to pack and move us. These guys were incredible. They showed up right on time-- they worked straight through the day and into the night-- the whole move took 12 hours (to be clear- this was a MOUNTAIN of work- they needed to pack up an entire 3 floor house and then drive 2 hours to our new location and then move everything into the house. I was extremely impressed with their work ethic, the care with which they took care of our belongings-- not ONE glass was broken. They packed everything every well and made sure to keep organized so that all the boxes went to the appropriate rooms. I was extremely nervous about the move but the reviews for this company were great so I crossed by fingers and hoped it would work out-- now I can see why they have such a high rating! These guys are top notch. Professional, punctual, courteous, efficient, strong, quick, trustworthy and priced-well. Everything you want from your mover. I called up and spoke with Sergei, I believe he's the owner, he was quick to confirm my move - which I needed to be scheduled for the next day. It was the end of the month (31st!) so I was especially worried that they wouldn't be able to do it. He said no problem, we'll be there at 1p and earlier if at all possible. The three guys showed up just before noon. We all quickly realized that our building elevator was out (crappy old pre-war building) but they rolled with it used the stairs without any complaints - up and down to the third floor. Their price was very reasonable ($85/hr including 3 guys and the truck). The leader guy was very thorough with explaining costs upfront and when they had to do special packaging of our flatscreen TV he told me upfront what they needed to do and how much it would cost. They wrapped up all furniture, picture frames, open-lid boses, etc thoroughly in shrinkwrap and blankets (at no extra charge) and moved everything to our new home. I had estimated 6-7 hours total and they did it in 5! I would strongly recommend them. read more

In the summer of 2010, I happened to discover EQ Movers by chance when surfing Craigslist for movers. I was vacating my apartment in the Bronx and moving most of my belongings to New Jersey and originally planned to rent a large U-Haul and move it with the assistance of a relative. However, four days before my scheduled move (July 20), my relative flaked out and did not return my calls.Faced with a dilemma, I search the web until I found an ad for EQ Movers. I called them and informed them this was short noticed move and that I required them at 8:00am the morning of the move to vacate on time. As promised, Sergei and his team where present at 8:00am on Thursday morning and helped me move out all the boxes out of my place, wrap up my flat screens in the appropriate protective wrapping, and cleaned up any debris they left behind in four hours. By 6:00pm we were in New Jersey unloading my boxes in storage, and by 8:00pm we were at my sister's house in Middlesex County unloading the final boxes. In 12 hours, they made my move a million times more better than what I expected and my sister remarked how amazing they were. My brother-in-law gave them bottled water and beer to thank them for their help. I can't tell you how much I appreciate these guys! I'm forever grateful for their punctuality, consideration, and professionalism. I was surprised to read how much Frances Bean Cobain (daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love) loved their service (via her Twitter account) and I can guarantee that her rave about this moving company is highly justified. To Sergei and his crew: This virtual toast is for thanks for a job well done! Bravo! read more
