I seem to move a lot and we all know moving is a NIGHTMARE. This was by far the easiest move I ever had, well and above all my others. I had them pack me and Max and his guys (oh how I wish I could remember their names but you know...moving) packed everything so well and nothing got damaged at all. Also they were great people! So lovely. It was the least stressful move ever and they were so helpful and patient when I didn't know where stuff was gonna go. I know I sound a little like I'm gushing but if I ever have to move again I, for sure, won't hesitate to call them again. I recommend.

Since writing the first review I have received several text messages from this company. The first one - as you can imagine was very upsetting, but I am not the type of person to be intimidated by this type of behavior, if anything it just made me more certain of my review. Eventually the person texting must have realized the message was inappropriate and did apologize and even offer to do our move at a lower cost, but I declined. As I said in my response and I'm posting here, I am simply adding these to give anyone reading this review information that may be useful when looking for a moving company. I however, cannot increase my review as I personally would not ever use this company or contact them again.

Stop looking elsewhere. Sergei delivers on his promises. We hired Excellent Quality Movers to move my 80 year old dad from NYC to Maryland. Every other mover was more expensive and wanted 2 days to complete the task. Sergei came over gave a great price and said he would have it done in 1 day. It seemed too good to be true, but the reviews are excellent, so we went with him. I have to say, they could not have done a better job. They were waiting outside the building at 6:35am so they could start at 7. They packed the apartment. Exercised great care with my father's things and were very pleasant to interact with. By 12:30 they were on the road and by 8:30 my dad was fully moved in to his apartment in Maryland. Beautiful. Don't be unnerved by the few bad reviews. They are probably phony reviews or they just like to complain. We experienced no issues, no surprises, no upcharges. Just fantastic across the board. THANKS SERGEI! read more

I actually expected my IKEA shelves & drawers to break during the moving process, but everything was transported perfectly --- there's not a single scratch on any of my wooden shelves or furniture. They disassembled my bed frames and desks, then reassembled them at the destination. read more

Great Job! My family owns a moving company out west and therefore I'm very skeptical of what "good service" means to people. I expect the best and since being treated like family by my family is expected, being treated like family by movers who never met me before is above and beyond what I call service. The team showed up 15 minutes early to walk me through the contract and get the paper work rolling (no charge). We walked through my apt, reviewed all my boxes, and agreed on all that needed special handling or wrapping (expect this to cost more the more you want done... but that's a given - right?!). When the clock started at 9am, they wrapped, and moved me out. Total time to get out - 1 hour. Total time for entire move 2.5 hours. Total stress ZERO! Thanks and I would recommend them to anyone! read more

After moving myself (with the help of some friends) within Manhattan for my two previous apartments, I decided to make things easy for myself and hire movers. Since it was my first time, I was pretty anxious -- I've heard some serious horror stories regarding other moving companies. I contacted a few companies for quotes two weeks before my move, and Excellent Quality Movers was by far the cheapest. Jack responded to my inquiry quickly and accurately, answering any questions I had. I moved from a studio apartment (one-floor walkup) in Times Square to a one-bedroom loft (two-floor walkup) on the Upper West Side. The day of the move, a man named Alex and his two crew members arrived pretty close to on time (about 15 minutes late, but totally understandable considering they were driving/parking a truck in Times Square!). They introduced themselves, had me sign some papers and got down to business. It's amazing what a three-person crew can do -- they pretty much acted like a well-oiled machine. The move out only took about 20 minutes. They actually beat me to the new apartment, and when I arrived, I saw that they already started unloading. There was definitely no dillydallying on their end. They carefully brought everything up and asked specifically where they should drop off each item in the apartment, which I greatly appreciated. Whenever I offered to help them out with something, they told me not to worry about it. When they were done, I signed another form, paid in cash and tipped each guy for a job well done. The entire move from start to finish only took about an hour and 15 minutes! (Though it should be noted that they have a three-hour minimum charge). I highly recommend Excellent Quality Movers. They were fast, efficient and professional. I certainly plan on using them in the future... but hopefully that won't be a for a good while. Moving is certainly a pain, but this company definitely made the process a bit easier! PS - FYI, they charge $10 extra to wrap up your mattress in heavy-duty plastic wrap. read more

I have used these guys 4 times now for moves over the past 6 years. Sergei's response to email and flexibility in availability is great for M-F working people. The moving teams have always been prompt, professional, and extremely quick. Not once did they work over the appraised time. A team of 3 has moved a one bedroom (mostly packed) in a 4 hour time slot repeatedly. During the last move they disassembled a storage bed, and a different team re-assembled it. Have recommended to numerous people, and have received nothing by good reviews. Will gladly use them for all future moving needs. read more

I contacted a moving company, also highly rated, and what he did was say he was sending a different company of which he was part owner or something. It ended up to be these guys. The guy I contacted was very nice over email and communicated well, would respond within an hour or two if you had questions. Anyway, these guys show up and they were very quiet but nice enough. Very young, soft spoken. To the minute, they showed up exactly on time. I always expect any service that comes to your home to be late every time, but they did not. They got to work and did it all quickly, and even though the new building was a tiny elevator and top floor, they got it all up there with some kind of system. Not sure how they did it but you'd see my stuff in the hallways and other areas in steps between the door and their truck. I could see them walking and carrying the entire time, they never stopped for a break that I could see. But sometimes they disappear for like almost 30 minutes and then suddenly everything came through the door all at once and boom they were totally done. A few minutes later after they were done one came back with an item because he realized they left something on the truck. I can see in some cases they took my stuff and wrapped in giant boxes, so that was a lot of the work, too. I also noticed several items I dropped or left out by accident, they would take that item and tape it to the closest item they found it to or boxed in another box. From my window I could see their truck so I could always see what they were doing. They had no choice but park in front of a hydrant, but I looked out a bit later and they were able to move it, which is good because you have to pay for parking tickets. Anyway, whatever they did, it was as fast as possible from what I can tell. I certainly could not have done it like they did, they have some kind of pro technique. I bought them food but they did not eat or drink until they were completely done. I felt bad but I guess that is their professional behavior, which is nice. The rate they quoted and all the fees mentioned in the initial quote and email is exactly what they charged. There wasn't anything weird or hidden or extra charged. The math and the time added up and that was it. Very simple, all information on charges given up front. Basically it seemed like they were just honest, young hard working guys making their living. Not only that but the rate they charged was so much better than everyone else I asked. Almost too good to be true which scared me, but sure enough it was true indeed. I really can't see why I should go with another mover if I had to move again. They offer a great value, great price. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! EQ did a truly outstanding job with our move. We were ALL incredibly impressed with the care and close attention that was given to every aspect of our move. Every item packed (and we had LOTS of glass and marble) was wrapped/transported beautifully. The crew was friendly and helpful and worked from the moment they arrived to the time they left. And they moved the furniture so quietly that our new neighbors didn't even know we had moved in!! Excellent job, truly grateful. read more

Sticker shock! They didn't tell me they'll use & charge us for wardrobe boxes to move smaller items. Dimitri gave me an attitude when I asked him why we were charged for boxes if all of our stuff were packed.... At the least, they could have asked in advance (other moving companies supply their own used wardrobe boxes to move smaller items for free). Also, before the move, they said mattress cover will be provided without charge -- but once they arrive, they changed their tunes -- they would wrap the mattress in cellophane, but covers cost. Moving is stressful, tiring and expensive. It's worst when you have to deal with rude people. We lived in an elevator building and we were moving to a storage unit... so it's not like they had to hull our stuff up any stairs. So when it came time to pay a tip, he said 15% is mandatory. Why should tipping not be proportionate to effort? I wonder? p.s. Once we moved our stuff out of storage... with a different moving company... we were told that EQM did a great job packing our things into a 10x10 storage unit. While I won't take back my previous comments, EQM did a good job... Though not all of the pieces of furniture are wrapped, so a number of pieces are nicked and scratched. So they still get 2 stars. read more

We moved during peak moving season in NYC, which made everything quite hectic but Excellent Quality Movers made the move the smoothest part. Martin arrived promptly and answered all my questions with a smile. The other movers were also friendly and all of them worked quite efficiently, so much so they finished over 2 hours earlier than the estimated time. They did thank us for packing well and using gorilla bins was also quite helpful. I would definitely hire this moving company again, and if I could chose the crew it would be Martin and his team. read more

EQ charges very low rates, but they ding you with many little fees. I have no issue with this -- it's their business model. Just be aware and you'll be able to save money. I moved all my paintings before hand, packed my own TV, bought my own mattress bags, and even bought my own plastic wrap. Everything other than furniture was boxed and ready to go. Oh keep in mind if they get a ticket it's on you (no splitting) . The movers arrived on time and worked quickly and efficiently. They sent 4 men (kept 1 in the truck to prevent a ticket). My 2 bedroom move within the neighborhood took 5 hours. My gripe is that they didn't take great care of my furniture. I see now there are lot of scratches and nicks on my furniture from the move -- perhaps this is to be expected, but I didn't experience this with my previous 2 moves. read more

I truly cannot say enough good things about this moving service. Moving in NYC is so tough, and it's especially tough when you live on a sixth-floor walkup. But I knew I was all set, as I had an equally exceptional experience moving with EQM when they moved me into that walkup back in 2015. As always, Jack at the office was super fast in getting back to me, and he was available throughout the leadup to the move via e-mail with any questions or concerns I had. This week, Kazybek and his crew moved me out, and they did so in the midst of a pandemic, a heatwave, and with what I admit were a ton of belongings. And they did all of that with nothing but cordiality, efficiency, helpfulness, and understanding. I even had to ask them to help me pack my kitchen the day of the move, as I unfortunately ran out of time packing by myself - they were not only were polite and respectful about the request, they packed it lightning fast. All the big things you want out of a moving company - wonderful workers, efficiency, responsiveness, care with handling your belongings - are there, and the smaller details are there, too. For instance, having so many items moved into my new place, the movers placed my boxes in a way so that I'd have "aisles" to walk through them as I unpacked - they also made sure to isolate my kitchen items and have them at the ready in the new kitchen, which was a great touch for me to be able to get up and running in the new place. I ordered an Uber to head to the new apartment after they were packed up, and I had a ton of things I wanted to bring with me to have available on the first night in the new place - I curbed them and was going to carry them myself, but as I turned around to go back and get the rest, all four men were bringing my belongings to the car for me. That thoughtfulness is apparent throughout their work. I truly cannot recommend them enough, and it's great to know I'll always be in good hands should I need to move again in the city. read more

I would highly recommend EQ Movers after working with them for our move within Brooklyn. Sergei was very helpful on the phone and explained that while they bill hourly, this is to save the customers money and he all but guaranteed their final bill would come well under the other companies who had quoted us a flat rate. Sure enough, they ended coming in several hundreds of dollars below the other estimates! And we couldn't have been happier with the team and the service we received. KZ was our lead mover and he was such a sweet guy, and very efficient. The 4 movers were all courteous and professional, and finished the job in much less time than I expected! Don't get fooled by another company - these guys are great and most importantly honest and transparent. read more

They were really great movers who were quick to act and were very gentle with all of our belongings. Great people, able to finish ahead of schedule. I would recommend Alex, Joey, and Bogdan to anyone!! Three great guys who get the job done. They lost some screws and damaged bed frame too, however. If you have these guys, make sure you tell them to be extra careful with your belongings. read more

I've had some horrible moving experiences and was terrified about my move yesterday (2/24/11). I chose EQM because they were recommended to me by a close friend who had just used them to move from Jersey City to Brooklyn. I contacted Sergei via email got a response immediately. Prices were extremely competitive, and they were able to accommodate the date and time I wanted to move. Movers showed up a few minutes early, they were courteous and quick. They were real professionals because they managed to work around some really tight corners without damaging anything. The foreman was great, he explained everything to me and was really helpful throughout the move. I absolutely recommend EQM if you're looking for an easy-peasy move with not worries and a great price. Thank you EQM! read more

We have used EQM three times now - twice for moves within NYC and once out. The biggest issues we had were with the buildings and their wonky rules - beyond that everything went as good as it could possibly go given the crazy circumstances. The prices were great, Sergi is no joke about getting back to you & the guys do the best they possibly can to make moving as good as it can. I would recommend them for any type of move you could think of! Thanks again, guys! read more

Nice guys, but some room for improvement. Was a little bit of a snafu as I thought the 3 movers would arrive at 5. It was drizzling and I figured they were running a bit late due to the inclement weather. I thought to give the company a call in which I was told by the gentleman on the phone that he stated in the email "Starting between 5 and 7" and that customers always get confused....then how about changing the verbiage to something like "arrival within a window of 5 and 7? That would make more sense and save you the issue of miscommunication. Also just a bit annoyed that while my dresser was PARTIALLY wrapped, I had to watch it go crashing to the floor as one of the gentlemen lost his grip upon reaching the ground floor. If it was too heavy then why lift on your own when you have the help of 2 other colleagues? The addition of time, prolonged from a double parked driver added to the headache, but little was done to try to figure out a strategy to locate the driver or call the number at the side of the van, as the consistent honking did nothing to help. Once all was moved in, I was handed paperwork to sign. I understand the job is tiring and you want to leave upon completion, but rushing the client through paperwork that they need to read isn't a good look. If it is too long of a document, send it to the client beforehand to read, to expedite the process. I was just kind of exhausted from the whole thing and signed despite my damaged dresser. I am thankful, but just a bit disappointed. read more

I hired them twice during the past 5 years. Simply the best!! Details: - Sergei is highly professional, very responsive, flexible, fair and honest - Andrey was the leader of my moving team of 3. He was truly awesome. I can highly recommend him. Exceptional communication skills, efficient and a strong leader managing a strong team very well ensuring a smooth move. If he is available, ask for him. - Service: They arrived perfectly on time (within 5 minutes of the agreed time). My doormen (luxury building / 500+apartments) said this was by the fastest, most efficient and professional move they have experienced. - Safety: They were extremely careful with sensitive furniture. Mine was mostly high end furniture that requires special packaging. All 3 movers wore they masks at all times. - Price: I negotiated with several moving companies. The offer from Oz was $5K for a 1 bedroom move (very overpriced). Excellent Quality Movers made the best offer and given my very positive experience from my previous move I decided to hire them again. Very reasonable pricing and no hidden fees. Transparent pricing structure. Fair! Don't look elsewhere. If they have a slot available I would simply hire them. - The company is highly innovative and has a big team, a large number of trucks and teams and very flexible - Very easy to deal with (e.g. insurance papers, payments, etc) - I gave them a very high tip because the team went above and beyond - Excited to hire them again soon read more

Alex and his team were awesome. An email/call for a quote was quick, and they provided me with all the info to make my decision...which was really easy, considering the number of great reviews on here and recommendations from people I knew. And also the quote! We needed certain certification for our management company for the move and EQ provided exactly what was needed quickly. And then the actual moving day happened! They were EARLY. It was great. Alex showed up and walked us through the paperwork and informed us what would happen. He told us that if we had someone watching the truck, we'd avoid a ticket 99% of the time. Perfect! It was a nice break from all the moving and packing craziness to stand outside and relax. A cop parked directly in front of the truck at one point...and then went into the bagel store across the street and left without a single issue. Everything was moved in an organized manner. They took two short breaks, and told us beforehand. The guys were a fun group --some of them sang while they carried heavy boxes, they joked with each other, and they worked really well together. They had a sense of humor, but also great work ethic. But most of all, *nothing* was broken! How impressive is that?? Now look. Me and my roommate obviously had a lot of stuff. Two bedrooms, a living room, full kitchen...and we have a LOT of books. Four large bookcases' worth. And we also had a lot of smaller bags and loose items. Alex was upfront and said that the easiest way to transport the smaller items was to put them in wardrobe boxes so they could bring them all down at once. They cost $20 each and he told us that in the beginning. He said he thought we'd need about three for the apt, and we said sure. When it turned out that we needed more, he told us beforehand and got our approval. That really increased my trust for them - he wasn't trying to talk us into anything or get anything by us. If he had any questions or issues, he let us know. When it came time to pay, he broke down the information and made a recommendation on the tip. I found that to be really helpful - he knew how difficult our move was compared with others, and could recommend a reasonable, but fair amount. Sidenote: I also had two cats and put them in the bathroom during the move. Alex was super sweet about them and obviously loves animals. He was very aware about their well-being and that allayed any worries that they would be let out accidentally. It was comforting knowing that he cared about them (he kept petting them and talked to them when I was moving them in there!) and that he alerted his guys to be mindful of not letting them escape. Some notes: 1) pay in cash! Four guys per hour was $105 if you paid by card, but $95 if you paid cash. 2) Know that they charge for moving certain things. There was a fee to move your TV, and also a $15 fee for a mattress bag, which is required for all moves. If you buy your own though (we did - it was $6 online), it's easier and cheaper. Most importantly, they were up front about these charges. 3) Buy these men water bottles! I felt bad that I didn't think of that and we had packed all of our cups by the time they showed up. It's just a nice thing to do. read more

Ivan and his team were flat-out amazing! I contacted 5 moving companies within a week's notice of my move and EQ Movers were available and flexible with my timing and dates. The quote I received was nearly half the price of their competitors. Not only that, the cost of the actual move was slightly cheaper than my estimate. That NEVER happens. These guys showed up a bit early and were eager and ready to go. The only delays were on my end (wasn't finished packing) and my building (needed to set up elevators). The move was done in slightly less time than estimated and my furniture arrived without a singly scratch. Great job, guys! I'd reco this company in a heartbeat. read more

I am not a person to write reviews. I don't think that I've ever actually written any review, positive or negative. The absolutely amazing experience I've had with these movers today has effected me so much that I wouldn't have been able to sleep tonight if I didn't write this review. I had the worst anxiety about the move. These guys were on time, extremely efficient, professional, careful, and most importantly, kind. Honestly if they would have been mean to me or gave me shit about my 3rd floor walk up, I'd probably have broken down and cried. But, they were superhumans who somehow squeezed a giant sectional down a spiral staircase. Not all heroes wear capes. read more

After searching for weeks for a good moving deal a coworker sent me a link to EQM telling me to try them because a friend of hers used them for her move and she highly recommended them. Let me tell you, thank the heavens for my coworkers friend! These guys are affordable and really cleared out my apartment in no time! Out of all the quotes I was given (one quote made me laugh out loud on the phone with the guy. Wanted to charge me $900 dollars to move my stuff 15 mins away! Crazy!), EQM was the most reasonable for the amount of stuff I had and the distance I was traveling. The guys were at my place right on time and once all papers were signed, they immediately got to work. I paid for three guys for 3.5 hours and they got the job done in exactly that time frame TO THE MINUTE. The guys are friendly and will definitely make sure that things are done within the timeframe that you originally paid for. I will be using these guys again for the next time I move. I don't know about the little fees other reviews are talking about because I didn't actually have any of them. Granted, all of my stuff was packed and my furniture was disassembled and ready for moving the minute they got there so that might have helped a bit. read more

After another moving company crapped out on us the day before our move, we called EQ Movers and were able to get them for a mere two days later. They showed up early and had our entire apartment emptied in what seemed like no time at all - I have never seen a group of people so efficient at what they do. And even though all our furniture is just cheap second hand stuff, they made sure to wrap everything up in furniture blankets and treat it like it wasn't already covered in scratches and dents. We barely beat them to our new apartment, and as soon as they arrived they resumed their machine-like hustle to get all our stuff unloaded into the new place and all our furniture unwrapped. They also made sure to ask where we wanted each box and each piece of furniture to go, so we wouldn't have to do any heavy lifting after they left. They were incredibly efficient and professional, the price they quoted us on the phone was the price we paid, and from when they showed up to our NYC apartment to when they finished unloading us in Philly was just under five hours. AWESOME! read more

The quote was straightforward. Communications with Sergei were a breath. The team arrived on time, thoroughly packed everything. Did not take any breaks. Moved to the new apartment and unpacked without any issues. Took one star off because for the following: 1. the team members were clearly not fans of each other and were arguing between each other regarding who's doing what and in what order. I was moving on Sunday, and maybe the backup crew. 2. Way too many times semi-jokingly complaining about having to bring down furniture whole 2 flights of stairs. 3. definitely over-wrapped furniture so they could slide it down the stairs instead of carrying it. On one hand no damage on another it took extra hour to do and they are paid hourly so that stinks a bit. read more

I love them! Here's why: 1) They were able to fit me in 3 days before my move (i moved on the last day of the month, Friday 9/30) 2) 4 guys moved me out of my 5th floor elevator into my 5th floor walk-up; There was no complaining; to the contrary, they were funny, polite & genuinely caring. Alex came in and assessed everything before they went to it and packed up the truck faster than i've ever witnessed. 3) Last minute move, so i wasn't well packed -- they were incredibly careful w/my things. Mirrors & framed pieces were boxed and wrapped, wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes, all furniture well wrapped; mattress wrapped. 4) Not one single thing was damaged. 5) Pricing was extremely reasonable. i purchased boxes & wrapped for special/fragile items also. You pay an hourly flat rate. 6) Oh, and they did all of this w/in the 3 hour minimum window! Yes, they moved me from a 1 bedroom in an elevator building, to a 1 bedroom 5th floor walkup in 3 HOURS! I've used several movers in the past, but will use these guys again for my next move, as they are truly professionals! Incredibly quick and very careful of your belongings. The communication from start to finish was excellent -- no hidden costs and they are very thorough at letting you know if anything will cost extra (boxes/wrapping/etc). No extra charge for credit card payment. Tip them in cash. read more

I used Excellent Quality Movers (EQ Movers) to move from my 1 bedroom on the UES to Stamford, CT (leaving the city! the horror!). Their time and cost estimate was accurate and on the day of the move the three man crew was right on time. The only unexpected fee was a reasonable one: they charged $30 to cover my bed and boxspring ($15 each) in plastic wrap. They said they can't move beds unless wrapped (with the bedbug epidemic of 2011 I can't say I'm surprised). Do yourself a favor and order plastic moving wrap and wrap up your stuff yourself, it really makes the move so much easier and the stuff is only $8 at UHaul or online at Amazon. Beyond that all costs were described up front (tolls, $25 gas fee, travel time charge). They estimated 3 hours for the move + 1.5 hours travel (travel time to pick up location and from drop off location) and were right on point. As for the move itself, they guys worked efficiently. They did the work at a reasonable pace - not too hurried but not slow - and were careful with all of our belongings. Everything arrived intact at the destination. I would definitely recommend EQ Movers to others, they did the job well and at a reasonable cost without hidden fees. If they can handle a 1 bedroom move from Manhattan to Stamford, CT then I have no doubt they can handle a 1 or 2 bedroom move within the city. read more

I used EQ Movers for my move yesterday, 7/28/14, from my 3 floor walk up on UES to elevator building in Gramercy. I reached out to several moving companies and EQ Movers gave me the best quote (least expensive and not a ton of hidden fees). My new building also required a COI and Sergie was very helpful getting it to me quickly. They gave me a time window between 11-12:30 and arrive around 12:30. I liked that they offer very good pricing, and they were very responsible in confirming the move a couple of days before and arriving on time. What I do not like is their lack of transaparency. Even though I did my reservation 15 days in advance, they only showed me a contract addendum the day of the move that you need to sign for them to start working Among other things you need to sign that if they damage the building while moving your stuff, they have no economic responsibilities, that if they break anything made of manufactured wood they are not responsible. Not leaving much leverage for negotiation when you already have everything planned for the move that day. So if your thinking of hiring them do not repeat my mistake and ask them to send all paperwork before you agree to hire them. read more
Though they broke one of my furniture during my move out, I'm willing to give them 4 stars as well as recommend to my friends who are set to move this summer for two primary reasons: 1) They are very honest. They charge additional fees for covers (such as mattress, TV, mirror, etc), and I was advised not to use a mirror cover, considering that the price that you have to pay for new mirror is cheaper than the price for a mirror cover. Also, regarding the damage to my furniture, they told me very honestly "sorry, this is totally my fault. we will try to fix it as much as I can." 2) Very fast. I finished my move out/in within 3.5 hours. The payment is on an hourly basis ($85 per hour if you move within Manhattan), but they don't pretend to waste time. They arrived at my home in time; moved out everything to truck within 1.5 hours; and carried them to my new apt within 2 hours. I'd not say "excellent" but would say "great" quality movers. Highly recommend. read more

I've used Excellent Quality Movers twice now for moves. First was moving from Prospect Park So to a storage unit. This was a fairly easy move since no stairs were involved and it was a drive-up storage unit. The guys arrived a few minutes early and finished moving my 1 bedroom apt in less than the minimum 3 hours. They worked hard & efficiently. The 2nd move was a little trickier. We were moving from a sublet AND that same storage unit to NJ. And the first stop was on a narrow, trafficky block in Carroll Gardens. Again, handled with ease. Sergei did the quotes and was very responsive to my emails. The moving crew was great, and very polite. Would totally recommend these guys. Oh, did I mention their price was excellent as well?! read more

Wow, am I glad I called these guys! I thought I could do it myself, with my wife and one or two friends, but at the last minute I realized it was going to be more trouble than it was worth. Not least because there were so many screw-ups with the truck rental place I had been working with before. I got lucky: Excellent Quality was available last minute. I called late Thursday afternoon, and they had three guys and a huge truck at my apartment on Friday morning. They ran a bit late (the appointment was for 9:30, and they arrived around 10:30 or so), but that's to be expected. The hourly rate was reasonable (I don't recall exactly how much). These guys worked hard and moved fast. Their professional mover's dollies are so much faster to work with than the upright variety you could rent for a DIY move. And the truck is more efficient too, since the door is in the middle of the side and not a roll-up in the back. One guy stayed with the truck, positioning things inside, while the other two loaded dollies and rolled them out to the truck. I was pretty much all packed and ready to go before they arrived. I had a few odd boxes of dishes left to pack while they moved most of the rest of my things into the truck. They wrapped the odd items that I wasn't able to pack well myself: a table lamp, my microwave, my window A/C, and so on, and they did a good job. Nothing at all broke in the whole move, and there was no damage to anything that I could detect! The move took forever, something like six or seven hours, but that included unloading everything at my new place too. (See why I'm glad I decided not to do it myself?) They never stopped for lunch. When they first arrived they asked for some bottled water and Red Bull, which I was happy to provide throughout the day. When it came time to pay, everything was in order and there were no undisclosed charges or other weirdness. The few boxes that they provided me cost less than what I had paid at other places (including buying used boxes online and new boxes at the UPS Store). The crew chief informed me when we were going over the final bill that $150 in tips ($50 each) would be appropriate after nearly a full day of hard work. Seemed appropriate to me. These guys had saved the day for my wife and me. It was an expensive day. What I thought would cost, oh, $150 to do myself or maybe $400 for professionals, ended up more like $800. But believe me: IT WAS WORTH IT!! Tip: Don't wait 'til the last minute to make a reservation the way I did. I got lucky. Just call and book it now, and sleep a little easier in the days leading up to your move. Another tip: Home Depot has much lower prices than anyone else around for medium and large moving boxes. read more

This was literally the best move compared to all others. I was terrified about hiring movers after a horrible craigslist experience that left me in tears. However, go with these guys, you will be smiling by the end of it. Dealing with Sergei is awesome. He responds promptly and answers all your questions. Today was moving day and they showed up 30 min early! We were out of my storage unit in jersey so quickly. Like 45 min or so. Then they got my stuff to my new place in Harlem and quickly got everything out of the truck and into my place. They saw that my desk was beaten bad and fixed it for me! Seriously great guys. It took only two guys to move my stuff within 2 hours including a long drive from north Bergen to Harlem in morning traffic! The total cost was $260 plus $54 for tolls. I definitely gave them a great tip! I'll be using them from now on if I need to move. Ignore these bad reviews because this company is stellar!!!!! read more

After we moved into our old 5th floor walkup by ourselves, we decided that the next move we'd hire someone. So we hired Excellent Quality Movers. But we had never hired movers before. And we got approved for our apartment about 5 days before the move. Yikes! I called Sergei and he said to call back the next day to check if they could send out 4 men (105$/hour) on our moving day. That day I got many rejections, "Sorry, we're just booked solid!" We were really worried that we'd have to do the move ourselves again...but Sergei called me back the next day to say they could fit us in...so convenient! On moving day, they arrived about 5 minutes before their hour-long arrival time, and with lightning speed got all of our furniture and belongings (2 bedrooms and 3 people's worth) into their truck. They moved us out of a 5th floor walkup and into a 6th floor elevator building (not everything could fit in there, though) in under THREE hours. We happily paid the 3.5 hour minimum. The only things they had to wrap were our couch, our TV, and our beds. We wrapped the TV in a blanket to save money and I'm happy to write that it got here completely undamaged. (They make you sign a waiver that they aren't liable for damages things are wrapped in blankets.) The foreman was very upfront about costs and start and end times, no one was dragging their feet, and when I asked my roommates what rating they would give if I wrote a Yelp review, they unanimously agreed 5 stars. Thanks EQ Movers! read more

I requested an estimate online. I booked an appointment for 9:30am Sat. Sergei said as far as he was concerned he was booked and confirmed. No one came or called all weekend. I sent an email on Monday. His exact response was "Well, I called to confirm on Fri and no one called back" Not the expected response of "I apologize, there was a misunderstanding but we can schedule you right away if you like". Just indignation.. Cancelled move with them. Cheryl read more

I used EQ movers for a move from a storage facility in Connecticut to an apartment in NYC. Communication with Sergei was excellent and he responded both to text and telephone calls very quickly. As for promptness and professionalism: The day of the move, Sergei called to say "they will be there in 10-15 minutes and, indeed, Max & Andy showed up in 10 minutes. These guys were seasoned moving professionals. (Not day-workers picked up from a sidewalk somewhere.) Max and Andy thought about the placement of everything inside the truck and packed everything beautifully. All of my belongings (artwork, furniture and boxes) arrived without any damage whatsoever. When it came time to pay there were no "surprises" or upcharges. The quote given to me before the move was the price I paid. Not a penny more. One tip: pay in cash. EQ has a 10% surcharge for using a credit card. I HIGHLY recommend EQ Movers. The move went off without a hitch and, the EQ team was highly skilled, calm under pressure and easy to work with. read more

I have used EQ movers twice in the past and I'm planning to use them again for our upcoming move next month. They are FABULOUS. Each time I've used them they have come in under budget and finished the move at least 1/2 hour early. The same 3 guys were there both times, and they are polite and FAST! The first time I had planned to disassemble my bed while they were moving the living room furniture downstairs, but by the time I got up to my bedroom they had the thing taken apart and had already put it on the truck. I wasn't sure how much to tip them, and the head guy (Alex?) very honestly suggested $100.00 for all three of them - the move was quoted about $45.00 more than the final bill came to, so I gave them $150.00 because it was their effort that saved the time and I figured they earned it. Some tips: I had a LOT of books. The first time they came I thought I was making it easier on them by packing them in big boxes - I figured they would be using hand trucks because there were no stairs to climb. They do NOT use equipment if they can help it, they are just strapping, enormously strong dudes who can literally lift anything. Tables? No problem. Antique dresser? Piece of cake. Spare elephant? They're all over it. These guys could probably have moved the house itself if I asked nicely. They very politely mentioned that next time I could use smaller, lighter boxes so that they could lift them individually instead of needing two of them for each box, which I did the second time I called EQ. Be careful to wrap framed art yourself however you want it packaged. They used blankets and bubble wrap, but one piece was broken in each move. Two reframings were not TOO expensive, but I will pack them myself this time. These guys can't help it, they're too damn strong for that flimsy glass. Buy them coffee. The first time they came I had just gotten back from Dunkin Donuts when they showed up (on time, by the way, and they were not familiar with my neighborhood). I brought back a Box'O'Joe and they looked at me like I was their personal messiah when I told them it was for them. They took about 4 seconds to make themselves cups of coffee, and all I can say is that it was like giving Popeye spinach. Their forearms popped out and one of them lifted a sofa over his head with one hand to celebrate. Buy them lunch. My estimate was $595.00 to go from Brooklyn to Long Island, including a travel fee and a very modest return trip fee for when they were finished (I think it was like, $20). The hourly rate was $85. I bought them a $20 pizza. Because I bought it for them, they wolfed it down in under 1/2 hour and were back at work immediately. They came in 45 minutes under the time estimate, which works out to about $64.00. Total savings $44.00. I have heard that they take longer eating on the clock if you don't provide food (although I think some people are a bit snarky about this - they do have to go FIND a place to get food if you don't provide it, which takes time). And for those of you who say "why do they need lunch, it's only a 4 hour move" - very nice attitude, jerks. Can you help when YOU get hungry? Especially if you're moving an entire house in a matter of a couple of hours? LET THEM EAT, you spoiled brats. Don't get in their way. Ever watch a really talented chef cooking? Ever try to "help" him? DON'T. They are out of your league and your puny human efforts will only distract them from their master plan of awesome. If you get in their way enough these guys just might get fed up and throw you all the way to Nebraska. Not really, they're super friendly, but they COULD. Expect to spend $50 to $75 on materials unless you provide your own. They won't ask before they use their own. They shouldn't have to. It doesn't make them dishonest, all moving companies do the same thing. If you don't want to pay for their wrapping stuff and their boxes and tape, GIVE THEM SOME. Duh. Anyway, these guys are really great and I highly recommend them. read more

NOTE: This is the third time I have posted this review. Each time, Yelp has buried it somewhere and made it inaccessible to readers who want to have a comprehensive set of viewpoints. YELP, why do you keep removing this? This was the worst moving experience I've had in all the years I've lived and moved in New York. The quality of their service was far from excellent and the level of professionalism no where near what I had expected after having read some of the reviews. To begin, I arranged for them to arrive at 1 p.m., but they showed up 2 hours late. My permitted window for moving into my new place was between 1-5. Would they make it in time? Not even close. A move from a one-bedroom apartment with an elevator in lower Manhattan to an apartment in an elevator building just 35 blocks uptown took them 7 hours! And I was paying $115 an hour for a team of three movers. At 10 at night, they finally delivered the final box. I had to beg the super in the new building to allow me to commandeer the elevator for five additional hours. The movers themselves showed no interest in speeding things along. I ended up carrying things and unloading things myself so I could finish before midnight. But the lengthy move was only part of the miserable service. The day after the move, after sorting through my things, I discovered that they had left 2 huge items behind: a full piano keyboard and a floor lamp. These are hardly things you would miss when packing a truck. I had to go back to my former apartment building and stuff the two things into a taxi to transport them myself. When I got back to my old building, I discovered that the maintenance guys had already put the things in the garbage room for removal. A day later and the things would have been crushed and carted off. Finally, a word about their professionalism. They moved an almost new 6-drawer dresser by taking out the drawers and bundling them together with moving tape. It was no surprise that the jarring of the truck in motion banged the dresser drawers together and crushed two of the drawers and scratched the face of all 6 of the drawers. What good is a dresser with two crushed drawers that won't fit in the dresser anymore? My appeal to the owner of the company for compensation was met with a customary directive to submit an application for an insurance claim. The shocking news was that a successful claim would net me only 30 cents per pound of damage. For a dresser that was about two-years old and cost $1300, my best hope for compensation for their incompetence was about $60. In the end, the damages incurred cost me about as much as the over-extended move of 7 hours. Unfortunately, anyone choosing this company is at their mercy. They can show up late, leave your stuff behind, and damage your property. There is little you can do and no willingness on their part to do what is right. You really can't guarantee a bare minimum of service. And for protection, you would have to pay extra for insurance so you wouldn't lose even more due to their unprofessional standards. Save yourself the extra expense and misery by choosing a more reliable company. Looking back, I ask, did it not occur to them that professional service meant wrapping up everything properly and checking to make sure they had all the items in the truck? As for showing up two hours late, I should have known that it could not end well and they were not the sort of company that considered service a priority. read more

DO NOT USE THEM! I've waited a month to write this review, giving this movers plenty of time to rectify the situation, yet they seem disinclined. I'll just list everything, and try to be as brief as possible. I've moved myself 11 times in the past 12 years, so I know a little something about moving. I was looking forward to a stress-free easy move, unfortunately, it was nothing but and I've spent so much time afterwards trying to clean up after. 1. They quoted me 3 hours. It took almost 8 (EIGHT!). If we had known if was going to take that long and be that expensive, we would've moved everything ourselves. We can't afford that. They did tell me when they showed up, it would probably take a bit longer than 3 hours (they thought 4-5). I was okay with that....but it became quite ridiculous- there was a lack of efficiency in moving, making a trip into the house with two small bookshelf boards or one chair? 2. They lost our $300 Bose speaker. Speakers were in the original box, albeit a small box. movers says that they don't know where they are (we have opened every single box in case they were stuffed someplace, and looked for a month at our new and old house- they are nowhere to be found). movers keeps saying that since it was a small box, it wasn't their fault. They should be careful with expensive items, they could've handed them to one of us so we could've taken care of it, I didn't even know the speakers were sitting on a pile of boxes. The movers either lost or stole the speakers, neither of which says great things about the company. 3. Huge scratches on our wood and bamboo floors. They did send someone to look at them and supposedly a company is supposed to come fix the floors, although the scratches in the bamboo are so deep, I'm doubtful how this will be accomplished. 4. Customer service. It's great when you're booking a move, they call you right back and answer any questions. After the move, when you're having problems, not so great. I called and left message, no one called me back. I called and got a person, who said she would check on things and get back with me next morning. No call back. I emailed the next day. Finally, almost 5 days after my original call, did someone call to talk with me about all the issues I had. It's been a month and anytime I mention the lost speakers and/or the fact that the move took 2.5 times the quoted time I get the run around. Go with another company and save yourself some stress. read more

I used Excellent Quality Movers only once in my life, and I will never do so again. The movers arrived a little bit late than the scheduled time. One of the movers, Andrew, greeted me with no smile, lots of bad attitude and started lecturing on what I should do, although I explained to him that I have packed and wrapped everything and won't need any packing or wrapping help. Andrew got very angry as he was trying to sell his services (I know it's a tough sell but come on...) and said that I would be responsible for any parking tickets, if any. It was sadly believable that I heard the merchant say that the customer is responsible for any tickets. That is so rude and unfair. Then, Andrew explained that I am also responsible for paying any tolls. None of this was mentioned beforehand. I asked Andrew not to drag my furniture and my stuff on the ground, which I wrapped and covered beforehand, and Andrew had the nerve to tell me that the only way to take it out is by dragging it on the ground. From this moment I understood that Andrew has anger management issues, as he became upset with me not purchasing any of their wrapping and packing materials. Because I wanted to avoid any confrontations, I did not argue with him. Andrew intentionally asked the guys to take their time and work slowly so that they can charge me more at the end as well. After they took my bed apart, they got to the new apartment and after putting the bed parts together the bed was shaking because Andrew didn't tighten the screws well. Then, I asked him to put back the parts of the other furniture after he took them apart but refused to do so, saying that I can do it myself. Andrew also had the nerve to tell me that I should start unpacking from their loading car, instead of him doing it. Why would I unpack and do his job, when I am paying Excellent Quality Movers to unpack and unload my stuff? I have no apology or sympathy for base creatures willing to cater to the lowest common denominator to make a fast buck. People do not use this company, as it is terrible! Excellent Quality Movers will charge you extra for services that are not rendered. If you decide to go with them, make sure they do not send you Andrew, as he has is rude, has no manners, class, and can't even speak proper English. Andrew had also the nerve to tell me at the end of the move I should tip his guys a $50 tip each. Despite my terrible experience because I am a nice person, I gave all three a FAT tip. read more

I had used Excellent Quality Movers in the past and it was great, but after a recent experience, I can no longer recommend them. So following my move a few years ago, I reached back out to Sergei to schedule my next move. We went back and forth a couple times, and he eventually convinced me to use 4 movers instead of 3 because it would be faster and save me money, which was also good because the building I was moving out of and into, had moving hours, so time of was the essence so as to not get fined for moving outside of moving hours. He confirmed 4 movers for my move date, so to my surprise on my move date, only 3 movers showed up. These guys were fine, but not nearly as fast as the guys I had a few years ago. Things were made even slower by the fact that they were sent with the smallest truck available. This added to the time needed to move as they needed to constantly rearrange the truck in order to fit all of our stuff in it. This is made more shocking when you realize we didn't take our couches with us. Had we brought our couches to our new place, they wouldn't have fit in the truck. I don't know how this is even possible, but somehow, despite being told we had a 2 bedroom, and not bringing our couches (which we didn't let them know) they still sent a truck that could barely fit all of our stuff. Also, when I left the first apartment and went to the second one, it took 45 minutes for the truck to show up. Now if they went to lunch, that's fine, I get they need to eat, but let us know that ahead of time instead of just not showing up for 45 minutes. Long story short, all of this lead to them taking more than 9 hours to move us 6 blocks, and we got fined for moving outside of the move-in window at the new building. Sergei told me not to worry because they'd only charge us for 3 guys, but considering he told us getting 4 guys would save us money, I don't feel like this was a good enough of a make good, especially when you consider that we got fined. He refused to give us any other discount for this mess. Long story short, the movers themselves were fine, nothing special like the last time, but they were fine, everything else was a complete mess. I have gone from highly recommending EQM 5 years ago, to saying you need to steer clear of these guys now. read more

I found myself in a bind and needed movers asap from Kew gardens Queens to Mott st in Manhattan. On November 10 @ 2259hrs I got on crag list and click on movers via labor, click on Quality Movers and my search was over. That being said, I called and spoke to Alex and it was clear and to the point from how much base fare $ 125.00 and if they get a ticket (parking) guess who pays lol yes ME, too the traveling would be the killer. Alex called me the day before to ensure we were on for tomorrow which was November 15 @ 9 am. I was up at 730 am after I showered got dressed had coffee. I left the house to go to the bank to get cash @846 am and my two men and a van were outside ready. I was a happy camper. After that it was a wrap. The Men (and sorry I can't recall there names, however I called them my 2 men and a van. Anyway was worried as they park by the meters and had till 930 am to move. They came upstairs it was like boom boom boom in what was going and what I need such as a box for loose things to no they would not take my plants they rather I take my own plants because they will not make it in one piece. I was trying to help however, the best way to help was STAY OUT THERE WAY, which I did. This how it went they were here @ 9 am packed the truck and left @ 930 am. I got to Mott st first unsure were they were I called Alex and he let me know exactly were my Men were on his GPS (loving it). My men arrived a little after me. They found parking right in front of the building and by 11 am I was signing on the dotted line and paid what Alex said I would was which was $ 125 and I tip my Men $25 each. I wish I could have given more but times are hard and I live on a budget. Note: Granted all I had to move was about 20 boxes, bins and 2 ward rope closet but I'm sure given a bigger job they would do the same BEST JOB EVER. In writing this a friend called and I just gave her Alex number and let her know small or big JOBS these are the guys to call and I gave her Alex contact information and I locked in my cell and will forward to anyone looking for 2 MEN and a VAN. I can not express enough that my two MEN and VAN were on point, great ,wonderful and would and will recommend them TO ANYONE. Thanks again guys a JOB WELL DONE........ Patricia read more

these guys are seriously the real thing-- they definitely lived up to their name! our team-- mike, alex, anatoly, and viktor-- were all fast, hardworking, and professional movers, as well as very nice guys. i totally recommend them! after calling up and talking to a few other moving companies i found on craigslist, i decided to go with EQM because they had the best rate i could find for a 4-man team and a 26' truck, and because the person i spoke to, jack, was very courteous and professional. this was about a week before our moving day, december 2nd. later that afternoon, jack sent me a very detailed and informative email confirming our date and price quote and clearly explaining their policies. and when i emailed back with a question, he promptly replied with a helpful answer. and he gave me a call the evening before the 2nd to confirm. after a really tough week of packing up our old apartment-- a 3 bedroom with 10 years of accumulated stuff (!), it was actually a relief when sunday morning came and the team showed up. in fact, the actual moving day was the least stressful day of our whole moving process! right away, we were put at ease by their friendly demeanor. we did a walk-through of all the rooms, and the lead guy, mike, gave us his assessment of how much time he thought it'd take them for the whole thing. it was definitely under what we had expected. they immediately got to work, and we knew we were in good hands. we were amazed at how fast and efficiently they worked, without complaint and with a sense of humor, too. i had at least a few extremely heavy boxes, which i felt kind of bad about, so when i happened to see one of the guys pick one up and jokingly make a face while the other guys laughed, it made me feel a little better. they were also very careful with everything they touched. the whole move took 7 hours (including travel time), but as i said, we had a ton of stuff. we were completely happy with the job they did and would certainly hire them again. thank you, EQM, for making our move as painless and stress-free as possible! read more

I found Excellent Quality Movers on here because they had excellent reviews that made me feel comfortable using their service. I'd been preparing for the move to a new place a mile away for weeks and had most of my items already organized and boxed up. They said I had to have my miscellaneous items in a box too, so they charged me $20 to use their open container and dolly, loaded up my golf clubs, clothes drying rack and a few smaller items, but did not seal the container and didn't add it to my inventory list. When I signed for the boxes and counted them at my new place, the list didn't include the open container, and I didn't notice I was missing my golf clubs until later that night. However, my clothes drying rack and smaller items survived the move. The next day I contacted the company about my missing golf clubs, and my contact throughout the whole move apologized and offered $150 for them or instructed me to file a claim. But since I didn't buy extra insurance for the move, I'm apparently insured only $0.30 per pound. I went back to my old apartment the same day and looked at the closed circuit TV with the building manager, which showed the movers loading up the golf clubs. Then I asked the building manager at my new apartment building if I could see the CCTV for the move in. It clearly showed my drying rack and smaller items in the open container - the last thing to be moved in - but the golf clubs were missing in the video footage. I'm still working with the insurance company to file the claim. At this point I'm not expecting much from Excellent Quality Movers but might pursue this in small claims. In the meantime I want to get my warning out there as soon as possible: Beware Excellent Quality Movers. They not only lost (or stole) my golf clubs but the experience trying to resolve this has been really disappointing and stressful. read more

WOW! There aren't enough words to describe how amazing our move went! We moved from a one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn to a house in NJ. After receiving a quote from another company for $2500, we were about to call it quits and move ourselves. Then my husband found Excellent Quality Movers and saw other reviewers talk about the great service and prices. $85/hr for 3 men! We thought there would be a catch, but even with travel fees our move was only about $700 total. WOW! Alex B. was professional and so efficient! He disassembled and reassembled all of our Ikea furniture with lightening speed. His team were polite and hardworking. We practically had to beg them to take a break and eat the Subway sandwiches we bought for them. We started our move at 9:00 a.m. in Brooklyn and the whole truck was unloaded (including furniture assembled) by 3:30 p.m. in NJ. We NEVER could have done it that well or fast ourselves! All of our furniture was handled with such care by Alex B. and his team (Tonye? and I didn't catch the other man's name). They wrapped each dresser with blankets and taped over the blanket to keep the drawers secure. When unloading the truck at our NJ home, they politely asked us where we wanted each item/box and cautiously made sure not to ding any walls. Because the prices are so low, I assume these men are probably not paid as well as other moving companies (just my assumption, not a fact!!). Either way, they were so hardworking and speedy that we gave them each a nice tip to hopefully compensate for the possibility of low wages. They deserve every penny and more for all the grief they saved us! HIRE THESE GUYS! It'll be the best money you spend and save you from a lot of headaches (and back aches!). read more

Spoke to Sergiet the owner of Excellent Quality Movers and quoted me a great price for a truck and three men. I had to cancel the move three times and had no problem with any of the cancellations. Sergie is very nice, courteous, and will to work with his customers. Moved was this month June 2011, for 8:30 A.M...the truck, Alex, Danny, and the driver showed up before 8:30 A.M. Alex came up with all the paper work and explain everything which made it simple and easy for me to understand filled out. He took a look around to see how many boxes and piece were going in the truck. Than he went back down to get some tape and Danny came up with him and they started to move boxes right on time 8:30 A.M. This was a walk-up 4th floor moved from Queens to the Bronx, and these two guys were going up and down these stairs as if nothing...they never complained about how heavy any of the boxes I packed up were. These young men are very professional at their job, fast, respectful, and polite. They were done in no time and in the Bronx right after I got there. They has everything in my Bronx, apartment in about half an hour and nothing was damage on the moved. The best thing about Excellent Quality Movers is how they treat their customers with respect, the price and the professional movers...I highly recommend them. Sergie, Alex, Danny and the truck driver thank you so very much for a job well done. If I ever had to move again "which I hope not for a very long time" I would not use any other moving company as long as you are still in business. Sincerely, Queens, to Bronx read more

I just wanted to say some good things about the crew of Michael from the EQM. The guys were truly professional and looked sometimes even like the army to me :-). All of them were uniformed and demonstrated great teamwork, obviously saving time and money of their client through the perfect organization of the moving process. In Operations Management we are calling it "the well-oiled machine". The whole job of moving our 1BR apartment from Brooklyn to Manhattan took reasonable 4 hours, taking into account that not everything was packed properly by me and my wife. The guys came right on time and had to organize the wheeled "supply route" to their truck along our street, since no parking was available nearby. To keep them running I bought some water, cause they also had to do some stairs and our sofa was really heavy. All our furniture and music came to the new location with very few scratches, for what I want to give special thanks to the crew. Two items I ordered to be wrapped in bubble came intact at all. After unloading they assembled the bed, since there were still 5 minutes left to the deadline; from what I see they tried to provide value to the client for all of his money instead of "stretching time" in the last hour of work. All in all, our couple spent less time for moving than we expected and I tipped the guys $70 each also because they did the job one hour faster then we expected them to. In the case of EQM the saying "one move is equal to two fires" is not true. Honestly ;-). read more

Sergei and his team know what they're doing. These RUSSIANS ROCK!! Ignore the Whiney negative reviews/comments on this thread.... These guys are legit!! Just moved on 8/24/2014 and everything went very smoothly. Had a HUGE West Elm bed with side tables & storage drawers. (See link below) The Move leader efficiently dismantled that monster, taped it, hauled it and re-assembled it at no extra charge. http://www.westelm.com/products/3736501/?catalogId=36&sku=3736501&bnrid=3918508&cm_ven=Google_PLA&cm_cat=Furniture&cm_pla=Beds&cm_ite=West_Elm_Storage_Platform_Bedset%2C_1_Headboard%2C_1_Bed_Frame_with_Drawers_-_Full%2C_Chocolate&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=33-333647637-2 Requested 4 guys @ $105/hour which is a steal since I was moving prior to the end of the month when the prices are higher and you get less help for your money. Tried to go with Flatrate; Ben Hur and others... They all quoted me over $1000, FlatRate was $1350. "F" that!!! Told Sergei that if we can do this move for $500 bucks then you got a deal. He and his team were true to their word and performance... $505.50 total and I had A LOT of stuff... I also helped carry it which enabled us to finish in 2hrs 19mins.... That includes from the point of arrival to emptying one apartment, dismantling the WEST ELM monster bed to dropping everything off at the new place and putting that bed back together. So happy I hired these guys... Don't play yourself, Call Sergei/EQM NOW! read more

I had such a great experience with Excellent Quality Movers that I had to write them an awesome review. Rhine and his team did such a fantastic job moving my one-bedroom apartment. Each of the three guys worked with only minor breaks for about 5 hours. It took longer than I anticipated, but mainly because I hadn't packed a few things properly (lots of little things to pack/repack) and Rhine was really courteous and polite (and PATIENT!) the whole time. He explained the pricing of packaging things and was really professional about everything. His team worked diligently to pack and load/unload everything, and they were all friendly and courteous the whole time. It was so late when we finished and they even offered to reassemble the couch that had the legs taken off...I'm still unpacking but so far everything is in very good shape, nothing broken or lost, which is really comforting after planning a very last minute move. I should mention, Jack (who I booked the moving appointment with) was also really helpful and accommodated my last minute request for movers and even fit me in to the end of the day schedule (although I wouldn't recommend starting a move at 7pm, it's a long friggin day.) I just wanted to write and give Rhine and his team a good shout out, they really are fantastic! I'll definitely be recommending them to my friends and family in the future. I already have a friend who's planning to move by Aug 1 who is booking them for the move. read more

These movers are simply terrific: punctual, professional, conscientious. They definitely live up to their name Excellent Quality. We hired three guys for a large 1-BR move within Brooklyn and they not only moved our things, they also helped pack up loose ends when it became clear we weren't as prepared as we thought we were. They also extra-secured furniture and "soft" items. For example, I bought a plastic couch cover that I taped over our couch but they redid it much more securely with a furniture pad and plastic that covered the whole thing (no gaps like with the flimsy cover I bought). It arrived in perfect condition, as did everything else. We also had put soft items like towels and sweaters in industrial garbage bags. They put these in boxes before moving. Brilliant. They clearly know what they're doing. The crew leader also checked with us about any items that seemed to have prior damage. It was minor, but I really appreciated his attention to everything and that the communication was so clear and up front. And the price was half of what I had budgeted for the move. Downright inexpensive, especially for the exceptional quality. It would have been worth it at double the cost (so tip the guys well). In short, I was really impressed with these movers. I would use them again and will recommend them to everyone I know. read more

Moving is no fun and I've done it a few times before, but the move by this company was one of the worst experience of my life. Initially, one of their sales people, Sergei, came to my house and gave me a quote of about $1,800. I was essentially moving a 2-bedroom apartment within Astoria with some items to storage. It sounded like a better deal than what some other company offered so I went with these guys. It turned out to be a really bad mistake. Despite the initial estimate, the move with this company ended up costing me almost $3,000! That's not even the worst part. They ruined my living room coffee table and end table which cost several thousand dollars. It was later disclosed by the movers that they placed my brushed metal tables directly onto the metal floor of their truck without any padding whatsoever. Metal on metal. An entire side on each of the two tables are irreparably scratched. When I informed Sergei of the damage, he just stressed that I'd better pay them for the move, which I did. Sadly, they don't offer any insurance options. I asked about it right before the move and was told that they don't offer any. That should have been my red flag right there but I felt that it was too late for me to go with anyone else at that point because I had to move from the premises. Use this company at your own risk! read more

Great job!!!!!!Can not be any happier!!! Thanks, guys, for making my move to CT such a smooth, hassle and stress free experience. We've been recently relocating from 2 bedroom Brooklyn apartment to the townhouse in CT and were lucky enough to hire Excellent Quality movers Everything was done excellently - Alex and his crew arrived 15 min earlier, packed all our stuff, disassembled furniture, wrapped everything in a professional manner (i moved few times and never seen such a quality job). Guys left the old apartment 10 minutes earlier than us and got to the new place before we did. Unloading process went even quicker - they put all the furniture pieces together, brought our boxes into the exact rooms my wife asked them to, and even took all the empty boxes downstairs for us!!! The entire job was done within 8 hours, and the total cost came to be exactly as estimated, no hidden b*s* fees or charges. We gave $100 tip to each guy (which is very adequate considering quality and the amount of work they had done for us) and they seemed to be happy. I will definitely use EQ Movers in the future, and have already recommended them to my friends, who are looking to move to their new place soon. Thank you guys for such an EXCELLENT job!! Greatly done!!! Sincerely, Sam and Jane read more

These guys were great! Alex and his crew arrived 15 minutes early, got to work immediately, were efficient, & careful with all of my furniture. They even took extra time repairing a cheap dresser that was coming apart (I told them not to worry about it but they took a few minutes to reinforce the back for me). They arrived at the new building at almost exactly the same time we did. They unloaded everything quickly & had no issues carrying my two piece sectional sofa up 5 flights of stairs when it wouldn't fit in the elevator. They worked very quickly - even though they were dealing with a very slow elevator. They were polite and professional. Price was very reasonable - their hourly rate, including the cash discount, was by far the best I was quoted. As for the reviews complaining of extra fees - if you have all your stuff packed and ready to go you can avoid those fees. They will charge extra for any boxes they have to supply - but they will give you the exact costs for that kind of stuff in the quote they email to you so there are no surprises. I've moved a lot in my lifetime and have dealt with a lot of bad and a lot of "so-so" moving companies. These were the best I've ever worked with. I would happily use them again! read more

These guys live up to their name. My move with them was surprisingly painless. Great communication at the planning stage, then on moving day the team arrived on time, worked fast and nonstop, and were careful with my stuff. They placed things where I asked and untaped anything they'd wrapped for protection. The movers went above and beyond: A few hours after they'd left I noticed one piece was missing (a seat cushion; my fault for not securing it better), despite my earlier assuring the guys I had everything and seeing them double-check the truck before leaving. So I texted Andre, the foreman, and got a response very soon after, saying he'd alert the dispatcher and ask someone to look in the truck. Shortly after that he called back to say EQ had located the cushion and he'd pick it up and drop if off after his current project was finished. That second job was out of state, in a different truck, so he went out of his way and worked late to get the cushion to me. These guys are great and professional. In fact, Andre went over the contract upon arrival to confirm terms and to explain what I was signing. I had a bad experience with my previous move with another company, but on this job, I felt right away that I was in good hands. read more

I felt compelled to write my first Yelp review ever because of the exceptional experience I had with Excellent Quality Movers - their service is true to their name. Tim and his colleagues arrived on time (10 min early actually), and were kind, professional, and extremely efficient in getting all my furniture and boxes moved between boroughs in NYC. Even when everything out of our control went wrong (the building I was moving out of shut down the elevators, and I got locked out of my new apartment), the movers never ceased being professional and patient in working around these roadblocks. They got all my belongings to my new location as quickly as possible, with absolutely no damage, including delicate lamps, some framed items, delicate furniture, and electronics. They were very transparent about their policies and costs as well, and were able to competently answer all my questions. I also found the pricing to be competitive and fair, and would not hesitate to hire them again. Their truck was clean and only held my items, plus some extra packing supplies like moving blankets and tape. The next time I move, I will call them first, and I will recommend them to all family, friends, and colleagues who need a moving service. read more

This was the first time I have ever used movers in my history of moving. I always did it on my own. My bf and I decided to invest in movers, and boy am I so happy we did. They showed up early. I met Alex, whom i could title the foreman/ boss of the job. He was SO polite, and wonderful. He came in, reviewed our 1 bed apt, went out to the other 2 gentlemen, the rest of the team, and they began immediately. First they came early, then they started to work right away, i was SHOCKED!! Every time I looked, another bunch of things were moved out. We also have 2 cats...and the men actually de-linted the couch for us...I was ashamed for the mess, but ecstatic that they helped with that. They had the place packed within a few hours. The only snag, which was NOT their fault, was finding the new place...but with simple directions, they found their way, unloaded the truck, put the boxes where I asked them to, and they were on their way. Again, the BEST decision we made, and we WILL be recommending their services to friends and family, as well as using them for our next, and hopefully final move. You'd be sorry not to take them on! Hope this helps. Thank you Alex and team! read more
