I used EQ movers for a move from a storage facility in Connecticut to an apartment in NYC. Communication with Sergei was excellent and he responded both to text and telephone calls very quickly. As for promptness and professionalism: The day of the move, Sergei called to say "they will be there in 10-15 minutes and, indeed, Max & Andy showed up in 10 minutes. These guys were seasoned moving professionals. (Not day-workers picked up from a sidewalk somewhere.) Max and Andy thought about the placement of everything inside the truck and packed everything beautifully. All of my belongings (artwork, furniture and boxes) arrived without any damage whatsoever. When it came time to pay there were no "surprises" or upcharges. The quote given to me before the move was the price I paid. Not a penny more. One tip: pay in cash. EQ has a 10% surcharge for using a credit card. I HIGHLY recommend EQ Movers. The move went off without a hitch and, the EQ team was highly skilled, calm under pressure and easy to work with. read more

Excellent Quality is the most AMAZING moving company and they definitely stand by their name. I have moved twice within the past 12 months and have used them both times. They are always professional and also very friendly, but most importantly, very FAST. I thought my most recent move would take 4 or 5 hours, but it only took 2.5 hours. . . of course, having 4 men was a boost, and the new place about 5 blocks probably helped. There are a few things to know, such as the minimum hire is 3.5 hours. Also, there is a discount if you move from the 7th-24th of the month. For 4 men, it is $90 per hour, which isn't much for moving all your stuff. There are minor charges, such as having to wrap the mattress and perhaps having to use one of their boxes for loose items. Overall, they're great and I would highly recommend them to anyone within the NYC area. Make sure to ask for Aleks K, who was the lead man on both my moves. read more

Moved 30 blocks in Manhattan beginning at 8am and my move was completed seamlessly in only 2 hours, without any issues. Costs were reasonable and all disclosed up front. Extremely happy and would definitely recommend and use again. read more

I've lived in NYC for 16 years now and moved 17 times. Might seem like I love to move but quite the contrary. Every time before this last one was STRESSFUL!! This time around, I researched and found these guys(EQM). On top of being nice, careful & efficient, they were easy on the eyes. This was by far my cheapest & most stress free move ever! Note* Another reason why my move was easy and stress free was also due to me using Juggle boxes(juggleboxmovers.com). LOOOOVE them!! I'll be reviewing that next! read more

The movers were very prompt and courteous. They moved everything with great care and efficiency. I would highly recommend.

I've used EQ to move around Brooklyn 3x now. They have always been great with cost breakdown, punctuality and quality of service. My last move was a 3-person job lead by Martin and they were wonderful-- polite, efficient, and very careful with my boxes and furniture. Past hires were confirmed pick up times and they were always on time/early, this last time was a pick up window slot and they gave me a 30 minutes heads up on their arrival. *thumbs up* read more

Overall they did a great job. Three guys showed up to help us load our truck for two hours. They arrived, scoped out the job, and immediately began running things to the truck (i lived in a 1 br walk up on the second floor). They did not stop working from the minute they walked in until they left, which was great - no dilly dallying or wasting the clock. We had everything packed but they helped secure some items with extra tape and shrink wrapped our furniture. They even helped us pack our clothes on hangers into garbage bags so we wouldn't have to re-hang all of our items. This was the first time I've ever had movers and it was the best thing I've ever done. Very good experience and the price was unbeatable. Not to mention they showed up on short notice, were flexible, and on time for the job. The only thing I would say is they were a bit gruff but in no way were they rude or unpleasant - just told me to let them handle it which was fine with me. My fiancee helped them load the truck and made sure choice items were handled properly. Only had damage to one item and a few broken hangers, but with everything they moved for us it was a minimal cost - the dresser itself was already on the fritz anyway. They were careful with everything even though they worked fast. Satisfied and happy with these guys, will use them again if I need to. read more

I've used these guys twice already. Once for a short move (down the street literally), and then for a long distance move. Both times, they were on time, careful with our boxes, and explained why certain things needed to be done (we didn't know about wrapping our mattress in a bag). The first time, we didn't have a kid, second time we did. And they were nice to her and didn't mind when she got in their way. They also didn't mind an extra stop to storage. The best part is their price. So much more affordable. The other movers quoted twice to triple. They kept it simple. Love these guys and will be recommending them going forward. read more

Our experience with Excellent Quality Movers could not have gone better. From the beginning, the manager Sergei was always very fast to answer questions and gave us all of the details we needed, including a full break down of costs and a very reasonable quote. He estimated that our 3-bedroom move from a building with an elevator to a first floor walkup 20 minutes away would take approximately 6 hours and when the team arrived (exactly on time!) they were quick, hard working and careful with our belongings. And they finished the move in only 5 hours! We ran out of tape the night before and the guys helped us tape up the last few boxes in addition to breaking down some of the big furniture and wrapping it all up securely in blankets. They were careful with several glass-doored cabinets and one of our hardest items to move - an 8 foot tall yucca plant - was packed up carefully and arrived safe and sound along with everything else. I'd definitely use these guys again! read more

Needed to move some equipment from Brooklyn to Central Jersey on short notice. I had such experience before with another moving company- was ready to pay extra $$$ and get poor service + kept couple Advils just in case... With Excellent Quality Movers was able to do it remotely, with a little bit of hustle over the phone got my stuff on time and undamaged. Paid reasonable fee and got really satisfied with their customer service. No pills used as well:) Would definitely recommend them. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about these guys. Moving from Brooklyn to Harlem, I was wary of exorbitant moving costs. Jack, whom I corresponded with about the move via email, answered all my questions, gave me the best quote of anyone, and called to confirm the appointment the day before. On the day of the actual move, I happened to take out the trash about 15 minutes before the guys were due to arrive and the four of them were already there, truck open. Despite being early, they got right to work, and still wrote down the start time as the time they were supposed to get there. Now, it was not all smooth sailing during the move-out (of a second-floor walk-up)--the stairs in my old building were inconveniently curved, making moving large pieces of furniture, such as my couch and queen-sized bed, nearly impossible. But after a lot of sweating and strategizing and maneuvering on their end, they managed it without any damage to my things. I beat them to the new place by 15 minutes or so. When I called Jack to find out where they were, he was able to give me an exact location, with an estimated wait time. Amazing! When they arrived, they quickly began bringing things up--to my new third-floor walk-up--and I will now point out that it was raining heavily this whole time. Sweating, wet, carrying my numerous heavy boxes of books and other boulder-like belongings, they never complained. There was an issue at the new place, too. This time, it was that there was no parking on the street. The street itself is very narrow, so every time another large vehicle (truck, van) came by, they had to close up and drive around the block. They did this several times, and again, they only worried for my own comfort (having to wait a bit longer for them to get the job done), not their own. In total, the job took about 3.5 hours. When they first started they were like, "We move fast, we are like horses," and they really were. Despite all the difficulties, they did such a wonderful job and were so nice, and I will most definitely use them again in the future. I recommend them to everyone! read more

These guys are great. Found them in the paper. They moved my apartment and my house. They work hard. They are not wasting time. They don't take 500 smoke breaks. Guys are fast and efficient. I am absolutely thrilled that i chose this company. I was dealing with Alex on bookings and all and one thing I loved is these guys always reply to emails. Always confirm. No fuss. I recommend this company highly. Most importantly they offer great prices. I would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

I originally contacted them by email to request a quote; within a short amount of time I received an email with all relevant pricing information. As a bonus, they offer two large bins for free to move items that you can't or don't need to pack. On moving day they called in advance to let me know their arrival time and they kept in constant communication. They were quick, efficient, and communicative during the entire process. I would use their services again. read more

Sergii and the crew from EQ were incredible. Kind, efficient, and transparent about fees/rates. All crew members were masked and abided by social distancing rules as much as possible. Would highly recommend for your next move, big or small! read more

I just moved with Excellent Quality Movers ("EQM") yesterday. First, off, thank gawd the moving shite is over! I found EQM off of Craigslist....and so I thought that they were a small moving company. When they arrived with their huge 24 foot truck with EQM logos all over the truck, I realized that they were a huge operation - like Flat Rate Movers. I've noticed that a decent amount of reviewers have complained about the movers requesting a certain tip (or a higher tip)....that's really because with these large moving companies, the individual movers get paid an hourly rate by the moving company that is probably somewhere between $10 to maybe $20 (for the foreman) an hour. Unbelievable for the kind of labor that they do....but what can you do. Administration costs money too and the company offers a very competitive rate - which means that they get a lot of volume but get paid less per hour than other movers. So just keep that in mind when tipping. The standard 20% of the total amount that we use when tipping at restaurants and salons should not and does not apply with movers (unless you're being moved by one guy or by movers who get to keep all of the money that you pay them to move). My movers were more or less on time. Which is great. Three guys for a one bedroom move for my bf and me in Greenwood, Brooklyn to a one bedroom in South Park Slope. The cost was $85/hour for 3 dudes (3 hour minimum) plus 1/2 hour for traveling time plus $15 to wrap my mattress. It took them right under 3 hours to complete the move. *Note* We asked the foreman about the 5% discount if you pay in cash and he said that they didn't do that anymore. But looking at some of the more recent reviews, it looks like the discount was still in effect....so hmm, wtf? We paid in cash anyway. The guys were quick and nice enough. Only one of them spoke English. They weren't really careful with our furniture so there were definitely some nicks, scratches and small tears (in my executive office chair) but none of our furniture is expensive so not really that big of deal. I looked into their truck and they are well-equipped with blankets and wrap, so if you do have expensive furniture, you probably have to request that they wrap that up because they do NOT do it on their own. read more

It's worth paying a little more to get a reputable, established moving company. Ivan led a team of four who quickly and efficiently extracted my things -- including some very heavy boxes -- out of a five floor walk-up. They were considerate and conscientious, even noticing that a small yet essential metal piece fell out of my bookcase en route. Everything (except one plate) made it through unscathed, despite some sloppy packaging on my part. Just one complaint. My paintings weren't damaged, but I was startled to see items left leaning against the canvas in my new apartment. That should never happen. read more

great experience! I had about a billion questions and I was really nervous because I've never hired movers before. I was always the girl that tricked everyone into helping her lift up a bunch of heavy stuff up 3 flights of stairs. But Sergei was awesome! He was really easy to work with over phone/email. The quote they gave me was also waaay below everyone else I contacted. Then... moving day. I've never seen anyone work so fast. Never again will I move using friends. No offense to my friends... but these guys knew their shit. Everything was wrapped professionally and moved very quickly. I was worried about the timing as I was paying them hourly, but they completed the entire job within 3 hours. Since they charge a minimum of 3 hours, this was PERFECT! One gripe: when I handed over the tip, the mover just took it and walked out the door, no word. No thanks/have a good day/etc. Nothing. I'm all for holding back emotion, but jeeeeez it was a good tip! One partial gripe: they lost a huge canvas picture I got from Ikea. They left it in the elevator of my old building. It was really cute! I contacted Sergei and without a moment's hesitation he agreed to cut me a check to replace it. And that's all it took, the next time I move (hopefully never) i'm using Excellent Quality! read more

From the first phone call to the wave good-bye, it was nothing but professionalism and cooperation from these guys. I have used another moving company for my last three moves and everyone kept telling me I was paying too much. So I tried a new company and I'm glad I did. The sales person who coordinated my move was responsive and polite (and he had to field more than one panicked call from me about certs of insurance and reserved freight elevator times). I loved that he always answered his phone. The crew arrived early both times (I had a two part, two day move) and they were FAST. No chit-chat, no goofing, just busting a move and getting it done. They took care with fragile pieces and wrapped my artwork like pros. They didn't dent a wall, knock anything over, or otherwise leave any marks. They were great with my baby and my animals. I needed help packing - they packed a lot of boxes for me and they did a great job! The one thing that I didn't like was the price the company charges for boxes and they didn't deliver any for me to pack before the move. If they charged less for boxes and delivered prior to the move, I would give five stars. Five stars certainly go to Jack, and Fred and the moving team! Thanks, guys! read more

This one is a really good service. Used this company's service to move over 5 times in the past 9 years within Manhattan and other boroughs. Great communication both by Sergei and his crew. If something better be packed to avoid any damage or scratches the crew will warn, ask if extra wrapping is preferred. I used it to move between rented spots so rarely anything of value was moved (other than a larger TV). Never had a single major issue (lost, damaged, dropped). The last move was a week go and Max was the crew leader. The crew moved swiftly; we had a 4 member crew. Moved us in and out of spots on time (within the elevator reservation time). Could not be more satisfied with them. read more

I used EQ Movers to move from a 3 floor walkup in east Brooklyn to the UWS earlier this month (2/19). Eugenii and his team showed up at 9:30am and got everything disassembled and moved out in under 30 minutes. Right when they started they noticed my cat who was hiding and asked if she'd run out the door by accident and paused while I caught her and put her in the other room (she was freaking out by the tape noises which made it difficult to catch her). I was going to put her in the other room anyway because cats escaping during a move is 100% a thing, but it was nice of them to ask. I also had them move like 5 or 6 plants, and they took care to pad the pots to make sure they wouldn't break. And, on the other side, despite having just 1 super slow, small elevator to work with at the Manhattan apartment, they had everything moved upstairs in under 30 minutes. Overall the whole move took 2 hours because of how efficient they were. Nothing was broken and everything looked great (and no plants were harmed!) And then, even after we signed the end contract and paid them, they stuck around for a little bit longer to put together the couch (I originally didn't ask them to put it together because I needed to switch the couch orientation, so it wasn't so easy as putting it back together as it had been, and I had been worried it'd take too long and didn't want to pay for the extra time. But they did it anyway, free of cost!) Overall super quick, easy, professional experience, and the price was great for the amount of stuff I moved because they were so fast. Would definitely recommend Eugenii and his team specifically. read more

The positive reviews are for real. I've been hesitant to recommend movers to my clients because of all the horror stories I'd heard and also because I'd never used one in the past. Then I rented in a building that required licensed and insured movers and decided to go with Sergei and EQ. Not only were their rates the best, but all costs and fees were disclosed up front. Sergei was very patient and we were able to handle all the details via email. On the day of the move, they showed up right on time, packed up a 1200 square foot apartment in an hour and a half and got us all unpacked with No Damage in a total of three and a half hours. Unbelievable! Now I recommend them to everyone and a few friends have used them to equal success. Here's a pro tip. Make sure to box everything up, and I mean really put all of your belongings in boxes and tape them. Movers won't carry opened boxes, or non box containers and they will rebox everything up and charge you. Fortunately, if you are in that situation, EQ has these awesome bins that they bring with them for miscellaneous items. read more

I used EQ Movers 2 years to move from Prospect Heights to Cobble Hill in March 2011 and was very pleased with the price and service. (see review here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/excellent-quality-movers-new-york-2#hrid:YMlLe-XmA26yE8Wq_YeWww) Last month, my boyfriend and I needed movers to move from our 4th floor walk-up in Cobble Hill to our new apartment 2nd floor apartment in Williamsburg. I planned on going with EQ Movers again, but I had a few friends recommend other movers so I called and got some quotes: Dumbo Moving & Storage: $650 Rob The Mover: $405 I called EQ Movers and received the lowest quote for a Saturday morning (mid-month). Jack quoted me $297.50 for 3 men for 3 hours of labor @ $85/hour + .5 hr of traveling time. Easy. Done. Decision made. I booked my move and Jack confirmed my time and date and let me know that there were no hidden fees and I could pay with a credit card. That Saturday morning, the movers arrived promptly at 9am and got straight to work. My boyfriend and I helped move some of the boxes and smaller furniture (frankly, because we needed the exercise and I was a little nervous about getting it all done in our 3-hour window). Within two hours, the truck was packed and we were on the road. At our new apartment, the movers helped remove some doors that made moving some furniture easier and right at our 3-hour mark, we were done. The EQ guys were courteous, respectful and I trusted them completely. Payment was easy and their help and professionalism made the stressful process of moving in NYC a cinch. Total cost: $298 + $60 tips ($20 per man) = $358 I would recommend EQ Movers to anyone looking for an affordable moving company in Brooklyn -- and I'll definitely use them again. read more

I've used EQ Movers twice in the last 2 years changing apartments in NYC. They are absolutely the best of the best. Very honest company that does not charge surcharges for stairs, furniture (dis)assembly, extra stops, etc. Both moves (Hells Kitchen to Morningside Heights and Morningside Heights to Spanish Harlem) were completed within 2.5 hours each. All my items arrived clean and without damage. These guys take great care to ensure your items are wrapped properly and will advise you on any concerns they have about moving delicate items. Finally, their prices are very competitive and the guys are really friendly. Highly recommend them! I will use them for a third time on my next move. read more

Just had my move last night- my boyfriend and I remained impressed with their efficiency. Quick and courteous. I completely recommend EQM for your next move. From my initial inquiry to unpacking the last box, I was consistently surprised at how smooth the move went. When I first submitted a request, Sergei was very quick to get back to me. He also answered any questions I had almost immediately. My move was scheduled for 9:30. The showed up at five minutes after 9:00, which is my only complaint. Early is usually better, but we were trying to pack up a few last things (i.e bathroom stuff, bedding). Based on previous reviews, I was worried about the few small things that still needed to be boxed, but the movers didn't complain. George & the crew went to work right away and it seemed liked they never stopped moving until it was finished completely. They were done in approximately the time Sergei estimated. The guys were also very courteous and polite. Some people complained about the extra charges, but I have no complaints. Sergei sent me a price list and explained that there might be extra charges. They charged me $30 each for my TV stand, flat screen TV and large mirror. Personally, I appreciate the extra care and don't mind the cost. The total move cost me $490. It included 4 1/2 hours of moving, travel time, the packing they provided for special items and $25 for the certificate of insurance required by my building. The only thing I didn't really like was that suggested a tip of $50 a piece. I really don't like when people suggest tips. I was going to tip them $35 a piece until they suggested $50. I felt cheap so I gave them what they recommended. If you don't feel pressured by this sort of thing, then don't worry. They probably deserved the higher tip anyway! I also suggest providing water for them, they seemed to appreciate it . read more

The guys are good and nice and I recommend them. The only thing I'm not happy is that, after I payed them with tips (~$120 on ~$600) (~ 1 hour before they done the job they'll start to let you pay), one guy break my glass lamp. When they leave, I asked about it, they just say "I'm sorry" and told me that the insurance only covers "30 cents per pound". So I lost my $60 lamp which can be avoid. [edit] I got a $50 check from Excellent Quality movers for the broken lamp, they are great! so I raised it to 5 stars read more

Firstly, very responsive customer service. I spoke with Jack, who responded to my initial request for a quote, and any additional questions I had, all within an hour of sending an email. Secondly, very competitive prices, very close to being the lowest quote I received, after giving them the standard inventory requirements: # of sm/med/large boxes, presence of bed, desk, lamps, other large furniture, etc. And the move concluded pretty much 10 minutes within the given time estimate, so I was charged as expected. Related to that, the movers were very efficient. They got the move done very close to the estimated time I was given in the quote. No idling around, just moving things the entire time. I didn't have much large furniture, but they didn't damage anything. read more

This was a recommendation from a colleague - word of mouth is the BEST. They were fantastic, reliable, VERY fast and had SUPER human strength. The team was very respectful of my belongings and moved my valued items with careful attention. I will use them during my next move! read more

Despite their extremely competitive prices--the best ones I found for the weekend before Sept. 1--this moving company is extremely professional, efficient and helpful. They wrap all furniture and will specially wrap mattresses, mirrors and TVs for a little bit of extra money--charges they will tell you about up-front. They also run a company that sells moving supplies at very low rates, and offer a 20% discount for people using Excellent Quality Movers. They offer next-day delivery on the supplies so if you don't buy enough in one round, you can quickly get more for the next round. The only reason I didn't give the company five stars is that the job took two hours longer than was estimated. Granted, I have no doubt I underestimated the amount of "stuff" to be moved by 25-35%, but I still think their time estimates are a little low. (Oh, and while you can pay by credit card for the move, it's best to have cash for the tips.) read more

So this was the first time I ever hired a moving company. I did a lot of searching on Yelp and I came across Excellent Quality Movers. I called a ton of different moving companies. They came out on the lower end of the spectrum budget wise plus Sergei was very responsive via email and phone, so we went with them. Another huge factor in why we went with them is because they were happy to make multiple stops (my boyfriend and I were moving two apartments into one) AND they didn't charge any extra to bring the furniture I was discarding down to the trash area in my building. Alex Elite and Crew moved me about two weeks ago. They arrived roughly 15 minutes before scheduled at the first stop/my apartment which is great in my opinion. What's not so great is that since this was my first move I underestimated how long it would take to pack- 23 hours of packing wasn't enough. I was still boxing a few things when they came but they were understanding about it and started moving what they could. While things went well overall, I do wish that I had allotted more time for packing... especially since my cat was jumping in and out of my boxes like it was her own personal jungle gym. My biggest fear with hiring them at a non-flat rate is that they would take their time and that I would be hit with tons of hidden fees. However, they made three stops taking everything out of my apartment, then my boyfriends, then moving everything into our new shared space in roughly 3 hours. Granted it was all in a 5 block radius, but still they were lightening fast! I think they maybe took one break a piece to briefly use the restroom but that's it. They essentially worked non-stop which is great since time is money with a non-flat rate. We weren't hit with any fees and we didn't get any parking tickets as one of us always waited with the truck while the other directed the crew in the respective apartment. Overall, I highly recommend these guys and will be asking for Alex Elite and Crew if I need to move again. They were super fast, efficient, and didn't miss - or mess - anything. And while Alex informed me of a standard tipping percentage range when we were settling up the bill, he did so in a matter that was without pressure. It felt more as a FYI than a mandate that I was guilted in to. Thanks for making my move a smooth one - you guys are the best! :) P.S. I took one yelpers suggestion and had some bottles of water handy to give them. It was humid and they needed - and deserved - it because they were working so fast. I really recommend doing that! read more

I initially scheduled with a different moving company but they were running behind schedule on the day of the move so the point man recommended that I use this company as an alternative. Michael and his team showed up only an hour later and got me completely out of my apartment in an hour. I was moving from Manhattan to Clinton Hill so even though there was a surcharge I felt it was reasonable. They were super fast (even when dealing with the stairs in the new place) and really insistent that I not help them at all. I felt like all the various aspects of the cost were really well explained both before the move and when it came time to pay. Such a great team of guys to come at the last minute and the coordination of the entire day was SO well handled. read more

EQ Movers made my first move in NY a pleasant, stress-free experience. I was referred to them by a tenant in my old apt who worked with them three times. I've been searching several days for a reliable company that offered a decent price for the amount of stuff I had, which wasn't that much but still enough to require a truck. Dimitry and his crew showed up promptly, moved my furniture swiftly from Manhattan to Brooklyn within 2 hours, and gave me a great price to top it off. Also got to ride in the front of the truck and crack jokes with the guys the whole time. I will definitely be turning to them again in a few months when my lease is up. :) read more

The management was extremely responsive and helpful during our email/phone exchanges. The crew showed up on time and moved us from a 1BR apartment to another 1BR apartment on Manhattan in 4 hours total, despite terrible traffic and service elevator issues. The pricing and fees were completely transparent and cheaper than any other moving company I requested a quote from. After they left, we realized they left some of our items on the truck, and after another incredibly quick response, they delivered the items the next day. Every aspect of EQ Movers is run with efficiency and professionalism, and they made such a stressful event go much more smoothly than I could have imagined. I'll be recommending them to anyone who needs help moving in the NYC area! read more

This is my first time using movers and I couldn't have asked for a better intro. The guys were professional and fast! This moving company definitely deserves 5 stars. I just used their service this morning(Friday 21/2/2020 - Team of 3: Eugene, Vlad and Vitally) and I am happy with everything they did. That was pretty much the first time in my life that I saw the movers showed on time! My movers were so nice, friendly and professional. I have moved quite a few times in my life and the quality of service I got from these guys was by far the best. There was no even one scratch on my furniture. They made this move like a breeze and at an unbeatable price. I had always seen Excellent Quality Movers had very high rating, now I know why. I totally recommend this company.
