I seem to move a lot and we all know moving is a NIGHTMARE. This was by far the easiest move I ever had, well and above all my others. I had them pack me and Max and his guys (oh how I wish I could remember their names but you know...moving) packed everything so well and nothing got damaged at all. Also they were great people! So lovely. It was the least stressful move ever and they were so helpful and patient when I didn't know where stuff was gonna go. I know I sound a little like I'm gushing but if I ever have to move again I, for sure, won't hesitate to call them again. I recommend.

Since writing the first review I have received several text messages from this company. The first one - as you can imagine was very upsetting, but I am not the type of person to be intimidated by this type of behavior, if anything it just made me more certain of my review. Eventually the person texting must have realized the message was inappropriate and did apologize and even offer to do our move at a lower cost, but I declined. As I said in my response and I'm posting here, I am simply adding these to give anyone reading this review information that may be useful when looking for a moving company. I however, cannot increase my review as I personally would not ever use this company or contact them again.

Great experience with EQ Movers. Easy, quick and clear booking process/communication with Sergei. Competitive, comprehensive quote. Crew showed up exactly on time and completed our move (within the same building) in 2 hours. Thanks, EQ Movers! read more

EQ Movers came recommended to me from a friend who used them twice. I asked for an hourly rate and Sergei responded to me very quickly. We moved on 9/1 which was also over a holiday weekend. Their hourly quote was $150 in cash with a 1 hour travel charge automatically added. (It seemed like off-peak days were $10-40 per hour less, but some days were also up to $30 more.) Sergei was quick to answer my questions and the 3-man crew (forgot if the foreman said his name was Ivan or Igor) were great! I was the first slot of the day. They arrived early and immediately got to work. It was a local move (within Brooklyn) so everything went super fast! We were moving from a 1st floor 2br + yard with tons of stuff to another 2br + yard. The entire move took 2.5 hours and we were on the road with everything packed up within the first hour. Adding in the travel charge, we ultimately paid $525 + tip, which all turned out to be less than the flat rate quotes I received of $800+ from other companies. All the preparation we did ahead of time made it so we could move this fast. We disassembled most of our furniture ourselves prior to moving day and wrapped our mattresses. (EQ makes mattress bags mandatory and they charge $15/bag so provide your own.) The movers just had to wrap our couch and a couple of other pieces like nightstands and bookshelves. Everything else we had were already in boxes or we had moved over beforehand. This work allowed the movers to simply show up and take everything into the truck. Sergei had originally quoted us 4-5 hours based on our list of items so preparing beforehand definitely helped save us money! We also suspected that the earlier the appointment, the better, since the movers wouldn't have already been working for 5+ hrs before arriving. All to say, I definitely recommend EQ Movers if you're well prepared because you can easily save $300+ by going hourly vs. flat rate. But be realistic with what you think your move will take! read more

I used Excellent Quality Movers for the second time in May 2021 and they were still great! Responsive, fair pricing, punctual and hard working movers. Hire them for your move - you won't regret it! read more

As a person who loathes the thought of moving, Jasulan and his crew were absolutely fantastic and took the edge off moving for me. They were professional, efficient, friendly, and careful with my belongings. They took the time and patience to wrap my couch and mattress going into storage so that it could stand the test of time in storage. For my particular move of 3 locations- my old apt, my new apt, and a storage unit, it took 3 hours from end to end and I still had the rest of my saturday afternoon to enjoy. I would highly recommend this company and their crew. I will definitely be using them again in future moves. read more

We used EQ movers for the second time this week and had another great experience. Pricing is fair and transparent (no nickel and diming or surprise charges at the end) and Sergei was super responsive during the planning phase. The moving team on the day-of was friendly and insanely efficient despite the rate being hourly and a slightly smaller than anticipated elevator. And, all our stuff is intact! They really make moving about as painless as it can possibly be. I recommend them to my friends and plan to use them next time I move. read more

We used eq movers for our move from edgewater New Jersey to New York. Couldn't have been more satisfied with the move. We were totally unprepared for the move but Alex and his crew of 4 were thorough professionals. They arrived on time and made the entire process stress free and easy. They took care of packing everything that was yet to be packed and moved very fast. The whole crew was very friendly and easy to work with. Alex was also extremely honest and transparent. I've never had such a good moving experience and thanks to eq movers for that. Would highly recommend them. read more

Max and team were so excellent! They arrived early, took care with my belongings, and finished earlier than expected-- despite my not being totally ready, and having them assist with more packing than quoted. They also managed to pack and transport a 7ft fig tree with no stress or damage to the plant. One item was forgotten in the truck (item was small and dark- not surprised it got missed) and Max was very easy to communicate with to get it redelivered, dropping it off within a few days. The move was also very affordable at $100/hr for my 1br apartment from Red Hook to Williamsburg, and box prices were fairly standard to what you'd pay most places in the city. Keep in mind that great prices and great service mean you have plenty of room to leave a great tip- don't forget to do so! read more

On time. Extremely efficient. Super quick. Very communicative. Great prices. The quote came fast as well and Sergei went back and forth with me explaining each bit no problem. Igor the foreman was wonderful and he completed the job with two other men. Moved out of PODS in two-hours-away PA. Three bedroom house equivalent. Done in an hour and fifteen minutes. Brought it to Brooklyn to a ground floor duplex and finished all in all 7 hours. Would hire them all again in a second. read more

Completely satisfied! My fiance and I moved a few days ago from a high-rise apartment building in Midtown to a low-rise elevator building about thirty blocks due north, and everything with the move went as smooth as can be. I don't normally write reviews, but when I was doing research online myself prior to our move, I realized what a wide spectrum of quality is out there and how moving is one of the most nerve-wracking experiences someone has to go through....I wanted to "give back" to everyone else out there who is in a similar spot.... I got two other bids from larger and more popular moving companies (Moishe's and West Side Movers) before we decided to proceed with EQ Movers. Moishe's and West Side were slightly more than double the price of what we eventually paid with EQ Movers. EQ Movers' hourly rate was significantly cheaper and they also had a minimum time commitment of only 3 hours, whereas everyone else had a minimum of five hours (I think). One important thing to note of why we chose EQ Movers as opposed to a more popular company is because all we had to move were boxes, an LCD TV and a boxspring/mattress...no delicate furniture needed to be moved. In addition, we packed up everything ourselves. So, in reality, we just needed someone to move boxes for us...it wasn't a complicated move by any stretch of the imagination, hence why we didn't want or need a fancy company with a longer minimum time commitment. Another thing to note is that BOTH of my buildings (moving from and moving to) required fairly strict Certificates of Insurance (COI) documentation, which a lot of "fly by night" moving companies online cannot furnish. EQ Movers met both the buildings' necessary documentation, which was a HUGE relief. I called to reserve the move date a little less than a month prior, and I dealt with a man named Jack who was very friendly, helpful and usually pretty responsive on email. I called him a few days before the move to confirm, and all was OK. Move was scheduled for 9am, but the movers showed up about 30 minutes early. I remember reading that in another post, so we were prepared to move earlier, although by the time they got parking, it was 9am, so right on time. The move lasted almost 3 hours on the dot. Three men and a truck, only one really spoke English (they were Russian), but they were helpful and efficient. I didn't think they "tossed around" boxes quickly at all (as another reviewer said), but they moved with purpose which is good that they didn't waste time. We paid (in cash) $85/hr for 3 hrs (price is higher if you move after the 25th of the month I think), with 30 minutes of travel time. There was $55 of processing fees for the COIs (two buildings), $30 for them to carefully pack up our TV and $25 for them to lay down masonite in the hallway of my new building (co-op's policy). We tipped each person $30, so all said and done, it was $500 vs over $1000 for a bigger company. I was nervous that something was going to go wrong such as them not showing up, forgetting the masonite or trying to charge me more at the end, but everything went according to plan. And this is coming from me, who is a very uptight and demanding individual - so happy that the move is now over. Would I use them again? Yes, if moving just boxes and inexpensive furniture, but probably not to move expensive furniture... they didn't seem like "that" type of moving company....but they fit our needs this time perfectly since we are buying all new furniture and having it delivered professionally by macy's and crate & barrel. Hope this review was helpful in allaying anyone's fears! I give EQ Movers an A+ for this experience. read more

Wish there's the option for 6 or even 10 stars !!!! EQ movers just helped me move from a 4FL walk-up to another 4FL walk-up on a very hot summer day. Helped me pack my spring mattress and dissembled the frame I myself was too scared to dissemble (it was very hard to put together as I recalled). The team did the job in 2 hours and it was completely stress free for me. Cannot thank them enough. read more

We needed movers at the last minute and at a good price to haul the contents of our studio in Kew Gardens, Queens, to Sound Beach, Suffolk, this past February. After blast emailing our needs to a bunch of movers, EQM was the first to respond with a quote and we set a dat for 10am the following Sunday. They arrived on time with Sergei knocking on our door at 10 exactly; we asked for a run-through of the apartment to see the layout of what furniture and boxes were going, what needed to be taken apart, if anything needed additional supports, etc. This took 5 minutes and after he made his assessment, Sergei started the clock and his team seemingly magically appeared (I guess they know to come upstairs after a set amount of time) and started the move. The crew (3 in total) worked so fast and so efficiently that we were completely taken by surprise. Nothing was broken in the move, amazing if you consider the fact that most of our furniture is second-hand Ikea crap that had been disassembled and reassembled a few times previously. Upon arrival to our new place we had no idea where anything would go, so we had them leave everything in the living room. After setting the bill (I paid with Visa), they asked if there was anything else they could do -- shift boxes, move desks. Very helpful guys. Since the move was 65 miles east of Kew Gardens, we were charged for mileage (roundtrip) and gas, but even with the 1 1/2 trek out to Sound Beach the total cost of our move was less than $500, not including their much-earned tip. Although we packed up everything ourselves and disassembled our own Ikea stuff, the EQM crew come ready with boxes for all types of goods, tape, packing packing if needed. They even have this huge dumpster-type thing on wheels that they brought in so we could chuck all of our random stuff into for no additional cost. Great service, great move, great price. And they take credit cards. read more

We originally chose these movers because of the reviews on Yelp but unfortunately we had an awful experience. Looking back, I think part of the problem was that they scheduled our move for the afternoon (so I guess we must have been the second or third client of the day) and by the time all was said and done and they arrived at our final destination it was around 9pm and the whole crew was beyond exhausted to the point where they didn't really "care" anymore, they just wanted to "dump" all our stuff at our new place and leave as soon as possible. For starters, they damaged quite a few of our furniture pieces namely our kitchen table and my husband's suit valet/caddy (which was completely destroyed). It is understandable that some damage occur during a move, but the problem was they tried to cover up and hide the damage in hopes that we would not notice until they were gone. In the case of the caddy, they even went as far as to throw it out except for the top part of it which was jammed into a box (and that's how we found out it was broken!). When we made the discoveries and brought them to the team leader's attention, he didn't really care or even apologize. Another "discovery" that we found quite alarming was the way they packed our electronics... we found our DVD/Blue Ray and home entertainment system packed in a box under our house plants! Yes, you read correctly, our house plants were placed directly on top of all our electronics... And again, when my husband pointed this out, they were unapologetic and even dismissive. The really sad part was that when asked whether they would have packed their own electronics the same way the crew could not lie and unanimously said "no". By the end of the move my husband asked to talk to the office (the guy directing this whole operation is called Sergei) to discuss payment given the fact that some items had been damaged. The team leader became really defensive and the rest of the crew very aggressive. They even decided to hold our Sony flat screen TV hostage in their truck! Tempers flared and there was one guy in particular who was so out of control that the team leader himself had to ask him to leave the apartment and go cool off in the truck. How a fist fight did not break out, I do not know. After much insistence and deciphering of Russian (the whole crew spoke in Russian to one another, and the team leader who was on the phone with Sergei the whole time repeatedly lied to us saying that no, there was no one available to talk to blah blah blah) we managed to get the team leader to let us speak to Sergei. In the end Sergei knocked off a couple of hundred dollars from our final bill and after we paid them the crew delivered our TV. What an exhausting day, and what a disappointing experience... needless to say, and based on our experience, I can only recommend that you stay away from these movers! read more

We finished our move two days ago from Manhattan to New Jersey, and we are very satisfied with the team of three led by Alex. The guys were on time, very efficient and took great care of our stuff. My husband and I wanted to help at first but we soon figured out the best thing to do was just to stay out of their way. They were very professional, down to business and honest with time. We used some other movers before who took 1 hour to drive 20 blocks during a time that clearly had no traffic. I was worried in the beginning how long it was going to take them to pass through the Holland tunnel, but they showed up after half of the time I budgeted for them. It was a 6 hour job and what impressed me the most was they didn't plan to take lunch in order to save us time. We ordered pizza and insisted they ate something. They were very polite, took the pizza down to their truck and came back to work very quickly. In the end the only extra cost that I was not aware of was a $25 material cost they had to use to wrap my sofa and a small bookshelf. It's no big deal though would be nicer if they gave me a heads-up before they use their material. Another suggestion based on my experience is, if the move involves an extra stop to pick up some stuff, tell them exactly what you have there in advance. I actually offered to give them a list when making reservation on the phone but was told it's not necessary. In my case it turned out they had to re-arrange a little bit in the truck so as to fit all my stuff in from the extra stop. I feel if they knew more in advance, it could have saved some trouble and time to rearrange inside the truck. But maybe it's a normal practice, and it doesn't really bother me. Overall both my husband and I are very happy with the moving. We will definitely use Excellent Quality Movers again, and I have already recommended them to a few of my friends who might need help with moving soon! read more

They were a couple hours late coming from another job, but kept me aware of the situation and gave me a slightly better deal because of it. They were at the mercy of city traffic and another job, so I can understand. These guys worked fast and efficiently. Granted I only moved a mile south and had 1BR worth of stuff, but it only took about an hour and a half altogether. The rate was very reasonable and I managed to get them with only a week's notice. Overall, I would highly recommend these guys. read more

The best experience with movers I have had. The team that helped me move was fast, efficient, professional, polite. I was really impressed and I would use them again. I highly recommend their services. Their prices are competitive. I was worried with paying them by the hour but they didn't slow down in any way. I was late getting to the destination and when I got there, they had emptied the truck and were ready to move everything in. They definitely took away the stress of moving through their communication, attention to details and speed. read more

I found Excellent Quality Movers through City Move and chose them for their competitive bid and from other movers' high past ratings, and they lived up to the 5/5 stars. From the pre-move communications through the end of the move, we couldn't have been more impressed. Excellent Quality Movers lives up to its name -- professional, efficient, honest. And the crew seemed to really enjoy working with each other to boot! They took extra care with our expensive items, and had expertise in assembling and dissembling pieces -- noting when we were missing pieces ahead of time. We moved from a (very tight) 4th floor walk up in the West Village to Brooklyn Heights. They brought a 4-man crew and a 24' truck, which made the move very efficient! They had the insurance required from my coop building, and took care of the paperwork needed in naming the building as additional insured, faxing to management co, etc. (Charge was about $40.) We paid cash as indicated was required, and tipped 20% in cash as well. I would HIGHLY recommend Excellent Quality Movers. read more

A GOOD COMPANY BUT ASK JACK NOT TO SEND YOU VADIM! I have used EQ a number of times in the past year, both for personal moves and for business moves for my employer. Jack, who schedules the moves, has always been responsive and professional. I believe I have had a different team for each of my moves and although, until this move, they have all been great, Alex K and Alex Elite were outstanding. Unfortunately, this time the team lead was a guy named Vadim and my experience was not very good. I don't expect movers to work through without a break, but these guys seemed to be taking smoke breaks way to frequently when I was paying by the hour. Other movers from EQ had always placed furniture where it belonged and put drawers back in, etc. These guys just piled everything in a heap. The dresser drawers were left piled on top of the bed and on the floor in no particular order. The drawers from a piece of furniture in the living room were also piled in the bedroom. The headboard was left in the hallway. They even left some of the drawers in the driveway - which I didn't realize until after they were gone. I had to spend several hours after they left just clearing a path and putting drawers into furniture. For me the worst part of the whole thing was that when I tipped them $40.00 each, Vadim tossed the money on the table and told me I should tip them $50-$60 each. Since the move cost just under $400.00, I felt that 30% of the cost of the job was more than sufficient, especially considering the mess they left me with. I had read about this particular complaint about EQ in a number of the comments on Yelp, but this was the first time I experienced it myself. Someone needs to tell these guys that tipping is NOT MANDATORY in this country. The bottom line is that the experience is inconsistent --I have had some great teams from EQ that worked hard and accepted whatever tip they were given politely. Then there are guys like Vadim that really make you sorry you tipped them at all. I think that EQ is a good moving company and I will probably use them again. However, I will definitely ask Jack NOT TO SEND ME VADIM and I suggest that if you use EQ, you do the same. read more

We used Excellent Quality Movers for our move last week and they were fantastic. Jack was extremely responsive in the weeks leading up to our move and on the big day Kazybek and his crew were on time and super efficient. Considering they charge by the hour I expected that they may take their time but these guys hustled from the minute they showed up until the last box was brought into the new apartment. They are also very competitively priced and took all proper precautions for COVID (masks, distancing, etc.). I would highly recommend them if you're moving in NYC. read more

They showed up three hours late. Refused to use any of our boxes. Took much longer to show up at our destination than we did (also driving)- which ended up costing us more. And the kicker- they damaged our handmade bed (the whole reason we hired movers was for the bed). I would never, ever recommend them. Ever. Oh, and I hate to say this, but they smelled terrible- I couldn't be in the same room with any of the movers because their body odor was so terrible. Even after they left a room, the smell lingered. We had to open all the windows in our new apartment to air it out after they unloaded. read more

I was incredibly impressed with Excellent Quality Movers and would recommend them to anyone moving in the New York City area. A friend referred me to the company after his recent move, and after my initial inquiry I found that their hourly rates and travel time costs were cheaper than the other companies that I was researching. After booking my appointment, Excellent Quality Movers emailed me to confirm my appointment and checked in again the day before my move. I hired four men with one large truck to move out of my fourth-floor walk-up one bedroom apartment in Astoria into a second floor apartment, also in Astoria. The guys arrived ten minutes early ready to go and got to work right away. They assessed the apartment upon arrived and devised a system to get my 50+ boxes downstairs and to the truck in a timely fashion. They also helped me pack my remaining items into boxes with plenty of paper wrapping and tape. The crew did a great job wrapping all of my wooden furniture, flat screen TV, and couch and all of my pieces arrived in excellent condition once they were unpacked in the new space. They also helped me take apart and reassemble my bed frame and floor lamps. My move was completed quickly within four hours and all of the paperwork was easy to understand and sign off on. After my move, I realized that some small parts to one of my lamps were missing. I called right away and after a few phone calls back and forth the pieces were found in the back of the truck. I was so impressed that Sergei tracked the pieces down and offered to ship them to me. Honestly, it was above and beyond what was expected. I will definitely use Excellent Quality Movers again the next time I move. read more

Absolutely spectacular. I moved May 15th from a 4th floor to a 3rd floor, and they weren't concerned about the number of flights, number of boxes, etc. I am in Real Estate, and have an extensive list of people in our database to call for moving services, but looked up "cheap movers nyc" on Google and found these guys. The prices were scary because they were quoting me 50-70% off what I was hearing from FlatRate Movers and a lot of other "cheap" movers. The low price made me nervous, but I went ahead with it because all of these reviews were so good. I packed everything up 100% on my own, and had it all ready to go for them. They took my bed frame apart, and had everything out of my apt in under 30 minutes. The speed they were going was nerve-wrecking because I was sure they would be breaking/scratching things. This was not true. They got to my new place, placed everything where I asked, put my bed back together (the wrench I had didn't work last-minute, so I was glad they brought one) and never complained or asked for anything. I offered water/soda twice and they didn't want it. Very gracious, very nice guys. They moved me in under the time I was quoted, and was HAPPY to pay the 2-hour minimum and have them be done early. Notes: -They make you nervous when they tell you you are liable for the payment of any parking ticket they may incur, but they were so fast I can't imagine them getting ticketed. They did not get ticketed during my move. -Pack everything yourself, and have it ready. They were on-time within 2 minutes of the "earliest time" in my move window. This is where people waste time and money. -TIP THEM WELL, and pay CASH. Remember, you are saving about 50-70% off the next cheapest movers, and these guys were fast - plus there is an up-charge for paying with Credit Card, and you have to give them notice that you are paying credit. No scratches, no tickets, nothing broken. I have nothing but good things to say and I have already recommended them to 2 people I found apartments for that are moving June 1. read more

I have used a few difference movers in NYC over that last couple years and they were all ok. The other movers were usuall late, but got the job done. These guys were early, heald a spot for my truck and packed a one bedroom in just over an hour! And it was packed for a 200 mile drive and didn't move one bit! Absolutely thrilled with this moving company. I've used them 3 times now and I have been happy each time. I've had a different crew each move, proving that the company has equally good movers. They completed the job in an hour. They moved us from storage to our house in record time! It took them 20 minutes to empty the storage, 5 mins to drive to our house (we're a mile away) and a little over 30 min to place my furniture exactly where I wanted and remove plastic covering! We're in Nesconset (in Suffolk County) on Long Island. We paid for them, coming from Brooklyn, because they are reasonably priced and so proficient! Highly recommend! read more

In general, moving is a terrible process that no one looks forward to. You have to pack all of your life's possessions only to unpack them again in a few hours. You hand over everything you own to people you've never met, while maintaining a faint hope that they will not break anything, steal anything, or overcharge you. My experience with Excellent Quality Movers was the polar opposite. Everything went perfectly - from the scheduling process, to the move, to the paperwork and payment. Scheduling the move was as simple as one email to Excellent Quality Movers with an inventory of everything I own. Sergei responded quickly with a detailed list of prices and fees, all of which were very clear. Once I agreed to the costs, Sergei immediately scheduled my move date at my requested time. The movers showed up 15 minutes early on my move day, which is a pleasant surprise. There were three men in total. I had a very small move. They packed the entire truck within 1 hour. At one point, someone walking by tried to steal my backpack that was in an open moving box on the street (while the movers were standing there). The foreman immediately alerted me and held the guy until I was able to recover my backpack. It was really nice of them to care as much as they did. The total move was around 2.5 hours. The price they quoted me (including fees) was exactly the cost of the move. There was no surprises, which is the last thing you want at the end of the move. One note - if you pay in cash instead of a credit card, they charge slightly less - you save around $5 per $100 of your move. The Excellent Quality Movers team was extremely professional, punctual, polite, and got the job done extremely quickly. I will definitely use them again for my next move. read more

This was the best moving experience I've ever had. It started with a very straightforward quote and great communication with Jack. He was always quick to respond via email which made coordination easy. Then Andre and his team did our move. They came early and got right to work. These four guys were so hard working and hustling like crazy the entire time. I was shocked at how fast they were. We also asked that they be gentle with a few items and they wrapped them nicely and handled them with care on both ends of the move. I highly recommend going with them. The hourly rate is much better and really fair price for a bunch of great hardworking guys who are putting in a hard days work. I'll be recommending them to all my friends. read more

Moving sucks. Everyone knows it - doesn't matter if you're moving to a brighter future or a better adventure, the process blows. For a while, you can bribe an army of friends with beer and pizza, but, at some point, you're going to need professional movers. And in the city, those movers should definitely be EQ. EQ rocks. From terrific prices to efficient hustle, these guys made our move hassle-free. We'd gotten quotes from several companies - all well over a grand and out of our budget. EQ offered a flat rate and an hourly rate, and, based on the list of possessions we provided, tried to estimate how long it would take to complete job. John (at the office) advised that time began from the moment the guys arrived, so timing would depend on how well packed and organized we were. (Note: Two chicks with OCD and access to unlimited boxes meant we'd have everything load-ready on move day.) While the flat rate was completely reasonable, we opted for the hourly rate (under $100), gambling on them finishing the job within six hours. The team - George, Alex, Peter and Roman - showed up a half hour early to snag parking, setup operations and assess the situation. Then the hustle began. And didn't stop until 4 and 1/2 hours later when the job was done. These guys were all business. No smoke breaks. No stretching the job out. We had to insist that they take a small lunch break! They moved us from a second floor walkup to a fourth floor walkup, from a two bedroom to a three bedroom apt - both in Brooklyn. That included lugging a couch, a china hutch, a dining room table, four chairs, six bookshelves, a bed, a dresser, 2 AC units, a filing cabinet, and about 100 boxes (most of them books) up the most narrow and twisting stairwells in the borough. Everything arrived in perfect condition, and the guys even put furniture and boxes in the rooms we requested. When George went over the final numbers with us, tallying the hourly rate and travel time, the whole move was right at $450. He non-aggressively advised on the tip amount, and was surprised that we had already budgeted for it. (C'mon, people, if there was ever anyone who deserved a hefty tip, it's a haul-your-shit-across-town-so-you-don't-have-to dude.) I heart EQ, highly recommend their services, and would definitely use them again! read more

After the nightmares I've lived through with previous moving companies, I was so relieved to find these guys here on Yelp. Based on everyone's reviews, I decided to take a chance, and I was not disappointed. From the very first e-mail, Sergei was polite, quick to respond, and honest about prices. I liked that we dealt through email, which shows he's not afraid to have a written record of his prices. On the day of the move, the team of 4 men, led by Alex, showed up 1/2 hour early! Some may find that irritating, but with a long day ahead, I truly appreciated it. Alex, the foreman, walked me through the apartment and asked about everything to be moved. He warned me beforehand of extra charges for fragile items and gave me the option to transport the smaller ones on my own to avoid those costs. He has a bright personality and a great sense of humor, which takes away some of the stress of the day. His crew was polite and very friendly as well. These men WORK! My two bedroom apartment was emptied in less than 2 hours! They worked quickly and efficiently AND CAREFULLY to avoid breakage. I can honestly say not a single thing broke during the move! They unloaded the truck in less than 1.5 hours and tried their best to shimmy large items through small doorways without causing damage to anything. They also bent over backwards to make sure my refrigerator was assembled correctly. All in all, move came out to less than $700 for almost 5 hours of HARD work and courtesy (not including the amount for tip here). I can't say enough good things about these guys! read more

My husband and I got quotes from several companies and decided to used this company for our recent move. I got their name from a friend and could not have been happier! The crew we had were polite, quick and very professional. Only one things was broken- due to a packing error on my part. If or when we move again, I will definitely use this company again. I highly recommend them! Plus- they were the cheapest of the three companies we checked out. read more

It was literally a last minute move. My prior plans changed and I was backed into a corner. I didn't think I would move on a short notice. I called the guys at 7:30am and said that I had a move in slot from 1-5. I was assured by Sergei that they would get it done. At 10:00am I got a phone call from the team, they arrived at my place at 11:00am. Moved in by 2:30pm SAME DAY. They were all highly professional, courteous, quick and transparent about the cost. We arrived at my new apartment at the same time, which means they didn't take the long way or parked somewhere wasting time to charge more. Definitely hiring them for future moving. Highly recommend. Amazing guys. Thank you. read more
These guys are really awesome! The foreman, Kama, showed up early to assess the items to be moved. Kama made everything so easy, taking the smaller items in large boxes with wheels first. They charge by the hour so I had packed most items myself. The best thing I bought on Amazon was a roll of plastic wrap for furniture. I went crazy and wrapped everything I had-- upholstered chairs, table, lamps, sofa, disassembled bed, etc. until I ran out of time. In hind sight, I should have trusted their wrapping because they wrapped another item (night stand) in 5 minutes that took me 30 minutes. The movers are very fast and efficient. They disassembled and assembled beds with great speed. I had a room in the new location that had a bed that needed to be dissembled and armoire that needed to be moved and the movers were extremely fast. I got quotes from other companies for flat rates but I needed some flexibility due to the new location needing some disassembly and moving. They provided a certificate of insurance (extra cost) right away so I could schedule it with the building. What I liked about them: Huge truck (not that I have moved before but it is large enough for a lot more than what I had in a studio apt.) Fast and efficient wrapping. Quick disassembly and assembly of beds. Good with paperwork for building approval. They do charge for everything: insurance, tolls, parking tickets if you get one (luckily I didn't, probably because the moving out took an hour because I spent the weekend packing) but their rate seemed lower than others and I liked their photos describing how they work, so I chose them. I am glad I did. read more

*This is my first review on Yelp even though I, selfishly, always use the website in my daily life. The quality of the work performed by Excellent Quality Movers compelled me to finally give back. In short, these guys were great. Stop calling other companies. Hire them for your move, full stop. They showed up right on time, knocked out a 1 bedroom apartment in LESS THAN 2 HOURS (loading and unloading, both 3rd floor walk-ups, including travel-time from the West Village to Chelsea), took great care of all of my stuff, and even dropped off several very nice, large donation items to Housing Works after they were done at my new place (I called Housing Works to confirm). I moved on the 3rd of April and was able to get a discounted rate and an extra person ($65/hour for 3 movers, minimum 3 hours) since it was slightly outside of the peak window for moving. Call Sergei and he will not do you wrong. PROS: - On-time -- Requested 10am, buzzer rang at 9:50. - SUPER efficient -- Less than 2 hours total (out/in) for a 1BR - Careful -- I watched them take great care in handling my very nice stuff - Takes credit cards -- VISA/Mastercard only, no Amex. Tipped in cash. - Economical -- They're rates were as good or better than the 5+ movers I contacted - Polite and Professional-- No attitude about large items or 3rd floor walk-ups - Trustworthy -- They dropped off nice items at Housing Works as requested CONS: - None except they were so efficient that they beat the minimum time-limit I paid for by a full hour. TOTALLY worth it in my humble opinion. I paid with a credit card and tipped $50/pp in cash and they were very appreciative. As they were finishing up, one of the movers, in a thick Russian accent, told me with genuine sincerity that it was his dream to one day have a place as nice as mine. My meager $50 tip won't get him that, but maybe more of us will hire them, and one day, that dream will come true. I hope it does, buddy. read more

I loathe moving as much as the next person, so had requested recommendations and settled on two movers with prices in the $400/$500 range. My closing got further and further delayed so by the time I called to schedule the move neither one was available (May 1st, prime time for moves). I sent out a facebook plea for recs. Enter Excellent Quality Movers. They were able to schedule me for 1pm-2pm on May 1st, and when I expressed a little concern due to the 5pm co-op hard stop, Sergei said he would add a 4th guy to the move for the same price ($105/hr min 3.5 hours with 0.5 hours for travel). He was also clear about $15/mattress for mattress covers, I guess for bed bug prevention. The total looked to be $368+$30 = $398 + tip, very reasonable at short notice. He also provided the certificate of insurance that my co-op requested almost immediately, and let me know payment was expected all cash. I received call Wednesday asking if they could show up early, say 10:30am, which was more than fine with me. Only 3 showed up which made me nervous, however I was told I'd get the corresponding price reduction to $90/hr. They really had their act together as moving down my 3rd floor walkup is no joke, let alone carrying couches, 20+ boxes etc. This was all done in about 2 hours, but the move into my 2nd floor elevator building took barely an hour. Total price including $90 tip ($30 each) was $450. The only minor quibble was that they left the doors wide open in my old place and my new, but that was far outweighed by professionalism, speed and price. I already have a friend who is going to use them early next week, and would recommend them in a heartbeat given how many dodgy movers there are in this city. read more

I have used EQ movers twice in the past and I'm planning to use them again for our upcoming move next month. They are FABULOUS. Each time I've used them they have come in under budget and finished the move at least 1/2 hour early. The same 3 guys were there both times, and they are polite and FAST! The first time I had planned to disassemble my bed while they were moving the living room furniture downstairs, but by the time I got up to my bedroom they had the thing taken apart and had already put it on the truck. I wasn't sure how much to tip them, and the head guy (Alex?) very honestly suggested $100.00 for all three of them - the move was quoted about $45.00 more than the final bill came to, so I gave them $150.00 because it was their effort that saved the time and I figured they earned it. Some tips: I had a LOT of books. The first time they came I thought I was making it easier on them by packing them in big boxes - I figured they would be using hand trucks because there were no stairs to climb. They do NOT use equipment if they can help it, they are just strapping, enormously strong dudes who can literally lift anything. Tables? No problem. Antique dresser? Piece of cake. Spare elephant? They're all over it. These guys could probably have moved the house itself if I asked nicely. They very politely mentioned that next time I could use smaller, lighter boxes so that they could lift them individually instead of needing two of them for each box, which I did the second time I called EQ. Be careful to wrap framed art yourself however you want it packaged. They used blankets and bubble wrap, but one piece was broken in each move. Two reframings were not TOO expensive, but I will pack them myself this time. These guys can't help it, they're too damn strong for that flimsy glass. Buy them coffee. The first time they came I had just gotten back from Dunkin Donuts when they showed up (on time, by the way, and they were not familiar with my neighborhood). I brought back a Box'O'Joe and they looked at me like I was their personal messiah when I told them it was for them. They took about 4 seconds to make themselves cups of coffee, and all I can say is that it was like giving Popeye spinach. Their forearms popped out and one of them lifted a sofa over his head with one hand to celebrate. Buy them lunch. My estimate was $595.00 to go from Brooklyn to Long Island, including a travel fee and a very modest return trip fee for when they were finished (I think it was like, $20). The hourly rate was $85. I bought them a $20 pizza. Because I bought it for them, they wolfed it down in under 1/2 hour and were back at work immediately. They came in 45 minutes under the time estimate, which works out to about $64.00. Total savings $44.00. I have heard that they take longer eating on the clock if you don't provide food (although I think some people are a bit snarky about this - they do have to go FIND a place to get food if you don't provide it, which takes time). And for those of you who say "why do they need lunch, it's only a 4 hour move" - very nice attitude, jerks. Can you help when YOU get hungry? Especially if you're moving an entire house in a matter of a couple of hours? LET THEM EAT, you spoiled brats. Don't get in their way. Ever watch a really talented chef cooking? Ever try to "help" him? DON'T. They are out of your league and your puny human efforts will only distract them from their master plan of awesome. If you get in their way enough these guys just might get fed up and throw you all the way to Nebraska. Not really, they're super friendly, but they COULD. Expect to spend $50 to $75 on materials unless you provide your own. They won't ask before they use their own. They shouldn't have to. It doesn't make them dishonest, all moving companies do the same thing. If you don't want to pay for their wrapping stuff and their boxes and tape, GIVE THEM SOME. Duh. Anyway, these guys are really great and I highly recommend them. read more

NOTE: This is the third time I have posted this review. Each time, Yelp has buried it somewhere and made it inaccessible to readers who want to have a comprehensive set of viewpoints. YELP, why do you keep removing this? This was the worst moving experience I've had in all the years I've lived and moved in New York. The quality of their service was far from excellent and the level of professionalism no where near what I had expected after having read some of the reviews. To begin, I arranged for them to arrive at 1 p.m., but they showed up 2 hours late. My permitted window for moving into my new place was between 1-5. Would they make it in time? Not even close. A move from a one-bedroom apartment with an elevator in lower Manhattan to an apartment in an elevator building just 35 blocks uptown took them 7 hours! And I was paying $115 an hour for a team of three movers. At 10 at night, they finally delivered the final box. I had to beg the super in the new building to allow me to commandeer the elevator for five additional hours. The movers themselves showed no interest in speeding things along. I ended up carrying things and unloading things myself so I could finish before midnight. But the lengthy move was only part of the miserable service. The day after the move, after sorting through my things, I discovered that they had left 2 huge items behind: a full piano keyboard and a floor lamp. These are hardly things you would miss when packing a truck. I had to go back to my former apartment building and stuff the two things into a taxi to transport them myself. When I got back to my old building, I discovered that the maintenance guys had already put the things in the garbage room for removal. A day later and the things would have been crushed and carted off. Finally, a word about their professionalism. They moved an almost new 6-drawer dresser by taking out the drawers and bundling them together with moving tape. It was no surprise that the jarring of the truck in motion banged the dresser drawers together and crushed two of the drawers and scratched the face of all 6 of the drawers. What good is a dresser with two crushed drawers that won't fit in the dresser anymore? My appeal to the owner of the company for compensation was met with a customary directive to submit an application for an insurance claim. The shocking news was that a successful claim would net me only 30 cents per pound of damage. For a dresser that was about two-years old and cost $1300, my best hope for compensation for their incompetence was about $60. In the end, the damages incurred cost me about as much as the over-extended move of 7 hours. Unfortunately, anyone choosing this company is at their mercy. They can show up late, leave your stuff behind, and damage your property. There is little you can do and no willingness on their part to do what is right. You really can't guarantee a bare minimum of service. And for protection, you would have to pay extra for insurance so you wouldn't lose even more due to their unprofessional standards. Save yourself the extra expense and misery by choosing a more reliable company. Looking back, I ask, did it not occur to them that professional service meant wrapping up everything properly and checking to make sure they had all the items in the truck? As for showing up two hours late, I should have known that it could not end well and they were not the sort of company that considered service a priority. read more

DO NOT USE THEM! I've waited a month to write this review, giving this movers plenty of time to rectify the situation, yet they seem disinclined. I'll just list everything, and try to be as brief as possible. I've moved myself 11 times in the past 12 years, so I know a little something about moving. I was looking forward to a stress-free easy move, unfortunately, it was nothing but and I've spent so much time afterwards trying to clean up after. 1. They quoted me 3 hours. It took almost 8 (EIGHT!). If we had known if was going to take that long and be that expensive, we would've moved everything ourselves. We can't afford that. They did tell me when they showed up, it would probably take a bit longer than 3 hours (they thought 4-5). I was okay with that....but it became quite ridiculous- there was a lack of efficiency in moving, making a trip into the house with two small bookshelf boards or one chair? 2. They lost our $300 Bose speaker. Speakers were in the original box, albeit a small box. movers says that they don't know where they are (we have opened every single box in case they were stuffed someplace, and looked for a month at our new and old house- they are nowhere to be found). movers keeps saying that since it was a small box, it wasn't their fault. They should be careful with expensive items, they could've handed them to one of us so we could've taken care of it, I didn't even know the speakers were sitting on a pile of boxes. The movers either lost or stole the speakers, neither of which says great things about the company. 3. Huge scratches on our wood and bamboo floors. They did send someone to look at them and supposedly a company is supposed to come fix the floors, although the scratches in the bamboo are so deep, I'm doubtful how this will be accomplished. 4. Customer service. It's great when you're booking a move, they call you right back and answer any questions. After the move, when you're having problems, not so great. I called and left message, no one called me back. I called and got a person, who said she would check on things and get back with me next morning. No call back. I emailed the next day. Finally, almost 5 days after my original call, did someone call to talk with me about all the issues I had. It's been a month and anytime I mention the lost speakers and/or the fact that the move took 2.5 times the quoted time I get the run around. Go with another company and save yourself some stress. read more

I used Excellent Quality Movers only once in my life, and I will never do so again. The movers arrived a little bit late than the scheduled time. One of the movers, Andrew, greeted me with no smile, lots of bad attitude and started lecturing on what I should do, although I explained to him that I have packed and wrapped everything and won't need any packing or wrapping help. Andrew got very angry as he was trying to sell his services (I know it's a tough sell but come on...) and said that I would be responsible for any parking tickets, if any. It was sadly believable that I heard the merchant say that the customer is responsible for any tickets. That is so rude and unfair. Then, Andrew explained that I am also responsible for paying any tolls. None of this was mentioned beforehand. I asked Andrew not to drag my furniture and my stuff on the ground, which I wrapped and covered beforehand, and Andrew had the nerve to tell me that the only way to take it out is by dragging it on the ground. From this moment I understood that Andrew has anger management issues, as he became upset with me not purchasing any of their wrapping and packing materials. Because I wanted to avoid any confrontations, I did not argue with him. Andrew intentionally asked the guys to take their time and work slowly so that they can charge me more at the end as well. After they took my bed apart, they got to the new apartment and after putting the bed parts together the bed was shaking because Andrew didn't tighten the screws well. Then, I asked him to put back the parts of the other furniture after he took them apart but refused to do so, saying that I can do it myself. Andrew also had the nerve to tell me that I should start unpacking from their loading car, instead of him doing it. Why would I unpack and do his job, when I am paying Excellent Quality Movers to unpack and unload my stuff? I have no apology or sympathy for base creatures willing to cater to the lowest common denominator to make a fast buck. People do not use this company, as it is terrible! Excellent Quality Movers will charge you extra for services that are not rendered. If you decide to go with them, make sure they do not send you Andrew, as he has is rude, has no manners, class, and can't even speak proper English. Andrew had also the nerve to tell me at the end of the move I should tip his guys a $50 tip each. Despite my terrible experience because I am a nice person, I gave all three a FAT tip. read more

I had used Excellent Quality Movers in the past and it was great, but after a recent experience, I can no longer recommend them. So following my move a few years ago, I reached back out to Sergei to schedule my next move. We went back and forth a couple times, and he eventually convinced me to use 4 movers instead of 3 because it would be faster and save me money, which was also good because the building I was moving out of and into, had moving hours, so time of was the essence so as to not get fined for moving outside of moving hours. He confirmed 4 movers for my move date, so to my surprise on my move date, only 3 movers showed up. These guys were fine, but not nearly as fast as the guys I had a few years ago. Things were made even slower by the fact that they were sent with the smallest truck available. This added to the time needed to move as they needed to constantly rearrange the truck in order to fit all of our stuff in it. This is made more shocking when you realize we didn't take our couches with us. Had we brought our couches to our new place, they wouldn't have fit in the truck. I don't know how this is even possible, but somehow, despite being told we had a 2 bedroom, and not bringing our couches (which we didn't let them know) they still sent a truck that could barely fit all of our stuff. Also, when I left the first apartment and went to the second one, it took 45 minutes for the truck to show up. Now if they went to lunch, that's fine, I get they need to eat, but let us know that ahead of time instead of just not showing up for 45 minutes. Long story short, all of this lead to them taking more than 9 hours to move us 6 blocks, and we got fined for moving outside of the move-in window at the new building. Sergei told me not to worry because they'd only charge us for 3 guys, but considering he told us getting 4 guys would save us money, I don't feel like this was a good enough of a make good, especially when you consider that we got fined. He refused to give us any other discount for this mess. Long story short, the movers themselves were fine, nothing special like the last time, but they were fine, everything else was a complete mess. I have gone from highly recommending EQM 5 years ago, to saying you need to steer clear of these guys now. read more

I found myself in a bind and needed movers asap from Kew gardens Queens to Mott st in Manhattan. On November 10 @ 2259hrs I got on crag list and click on movers via labor, click on Quality Movers and my search was over. That being said, I called and spoke to Alex and it was clear and to the point from how much base fare $ 125.00 and if they get a ticket (parking) guess who pays lol yes ME, too the traveling would be the killer. Alex called me the day before to ensure we were on for tomorrow which was November 15 @ 9 am. I was up at 730 am after I showered got dressed had coffee. I left the house to go to the bank to get cash @846 am and my two men and a van were outside ready. I was a happy camper. After that it was a wrap. The Men (and sorry I can't recall there names, however I called them my 2 men and a van. Anyway was worried as they park by the meters and had till 930 am to move. They came upstairs it was like boom boom boom in what was going and what I need such as a box for loose things to no they would not take my plants they rather I take my own plants because they will not make it in one piece. I was trying to help however, the best way to help was STAY OUT THERE WAY, which I did. This how it went they were here @ 9 am packed the truck and left @ 930 am. I got to Mott st first unsure were they were I called Alex and he let me know exactly were my Men were on his GPS (loving it). My men arrived a little after me. They found parking right in front of the building and by 11 am I was signing on the dotted line and paid what Alex said I would was which was $ 125 and I tip my Men $25 each. I wish I could have given more but times are hard and I live on a budget. Note: Granted all I had to move was about 20 boxes, bins and 2 ward rope closet but I'm sure given a bigger job they would do the same BEST JOB EVER. In writing this a friend called and I just gave her Alex number and let her know small or big JOBS these are the guys to call and I gave her Alex contact information and I locked in my cell and will forward to anyone looking for 2 MEN and a VAN. I can not express enough that my two MEN and VAN were on point, great ,wonderful and would and will recommend them TO ANYONE. Thanks again guys a JOB WELL DONE........ Patricia read more

these guys are seriously the real thing-- they definitely lived up to their name! our team-- mike, alex, anatoly, and viktor-- were all fast, hardworking, and professional movers, as well as very nice guys. i totally recommend them! after calling up and talking to a few other moving companies i found on craigslist, i decided to go with EQM because they had the best rate i could find for a 4-man team and a 26' truck, and because the person i spoke to, jack, was very courteous and professional. this was about a week before our moving day, december 2nd. later that afternoon, jack sent me a very detailed and informative email confirming our date and price quote and clearly explaining their policies. and when i emailed back with a question, he promptly replied with a helpful answer. and he gave me a call the evening before the 2nd to confirm. after a really tough week of packing up our old apartment-- a 3 bedroom with 10 years of accumulated stuff (!), it was actually a relief when sunday morning came and the team showed up. in fact, the actual moving day was the least stressful day of our whole moving process! right away, we were put at ease by their friendly demeanor. we did a walk-through of all the rooms, and the lead guy, mike, gave us his assessment of how much time he thought it'd take them for the whole thing. it was definitely under what we had expected. they immediately got to work, and we knew we were in good hands. we were amazed at how fast and efficiently they worked, without complaint and with a sense of humor, too. i had at least a few extremely heavy boxes, which i felt kind of bad about, so when i happened to see one of the guys pick one up and jokingly make a face while the other guys laughed, it made me feel a little better. they were also very careful with everything they touched. the whole move took 7 hours (including travel time), but as i said, we had a ton of stuff. we were completely happy with the job they did and would certainly hire them again. thank you, EQM, for making our move as painless and stress-free as possible! read more

I found Excellent Quality Movers on here because they had excellent reviews that made me feel comfortable using their service. I'd been preparing for the move to a new place a mile away for weeks and had most of my items already organized and boxed up. They said I had to have my miscellaneous items in a box too, so they charged me $20 to use their open container and dolly, loaded up my golf clubs, clothes drying rack and a few smaller items, but did not seal the container and didn't add it to my inventory list. When I signed for the boxes and counted them at my new place, the list didn't include the open container, and I didn't notice I was missing my golf clubs until later that night. However, my clothes drying rack and smaller items survived the move. The next day I contacted the company about my missing golf clubs, and my contact throughout the whole move apologized and offered $150 for them or instructed me to file a claim. But since I didn't buy extra insurance for the move, I'm apparently insured only $0.30 per pound. I went back to my old apartment the same day and looked at the closed circuit TV with the building manager, which showed the movers loading up the golf clubs. Then I asked the building manager at my new apartment building if I could see the CCTV for the move in. It clearly showed my drying rack and smaller items in the open container - the last thing to be moved in - but the golf clubs were missing in the video footage. I'm still working with the insurance company to file the claim. At this point I'm not expecting much from Excellent Quality Movers but might pursue this in small claims. In the meantime I want to get my warning out there as soon as possible: Beware Excellent Quality Movers. They not only lost (or stole) my golf clubs but the experience trying to resolve this has been really disappointing and stressful. read more

WOW! There aren't enough words to describe how amazing our move went! We moved from a one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn to a house in NJ. After receiving a quote from another company for $2500, we were about to call it quits and move ourselves. Then my husband found Excellent Quality Movers and saw other reviewers talk about the great service and prices. $85/hr for 3 men! We thought there would be a catch, but even with travel fees our move was only about $700 total. WOW! Alex B. was professional and so efficient! He disassembled and reassembled all of our Ikea furniture with lightening speed. His team were polite and hardworking. We practically had to beg them to take a break and eat the Subway sandwiches we bought for them. We started our move at 9:00 a.m. in Brooklyn and the whole truck was unloaded (including furniture assembled) by 3:30 p.m. in NJ. We NEVER could have done it that well or fast ourselves! All of our furniture was handled with such care by Alex B. and his team (Tonye? and I didn't catch the other man's name). They wrapped each dresser with blankets and taped over the blanket to keep the drawers secure. When unloading the truck at our NJ home, they politely asked us where we wanted each item/box and cautiously made sure not to ding any walls. Because the prices are so low, I assume these men are probably not paid as well as other moving companies (just my assumption, not a fact!!). Either way, they were so hardworking and speedy that we gave them each a nice tip to hopefully compensate for the possibility of low wages. They deserve every penny and more for all the grief they saved us! HIRE THESE GUYS! It'll be the best money you spend and save you from a lot of headaches (and back aches!). read more

Spoke to Sergiet the owner of Excellent Quality Movers and quoted me a great price for a truck and three men. I had to cancel the move three times and had no problem with any of the cancellations. Sergie is very nice, courteous, and will to work with his customers. Moved was this month June 2011, for 8:30 A.M...the truck, Alex, Danny, and the driver showed up before 8:30 A.M. Alex came up with all the paper work and explain everything which made it simple and easy for me to understand filled out. He took a look around to see how many boxes and piece were going in the truck. Than he went back down to get some tape and Danny came up with him and they started to move boxes right on time 8:30 A.M. This was a walk-up 4th floor moved from Queens to the Bronx, and these two guys were going up and down these stairs as if nothing...they never complained about how heavy any of the boxes I packed up were. These young men are very professional at their job, fast, respectful, and polite. They were done in no time and in the Bronx right after I got there. They has everything in my Bronx, apartment in about half an hour and nothing was damage on the moved. The best thing about Excellent Quality Movers is how they treat their customers with respect, the price and the professional movers...I highly recommend them. Sergie, Alex, Danny and the truck driver thank you so very much for a job well done. If I ever had to move again "which I hope not for a very long time" I would not use any other moving company as long as you are still in business. Sincerely, Queens, to Bronx read more

I just wanted to say some good things about the crew of Michael from the EQM. The guys were truly professional and looked sometimes even like the army to me :-). All of them were uniformed and demonstrated great teamwork, obviously saving time and money of their client through the perfect organization of the moving process. In Operations Management we are calling it "the well-oiled machine". The whole job of moving our 1BR apartment from Brooklyn to Manhattan took reasonable 4 hours, taking into account that not everything was packed properly by me and my wife. The guys came right on time and had to organize the wheeled "supply route" to their truck along our street, since no parking was available nearby. To keep them running I bought some water, cause they also had to do some stairs and our sofa was really heavy. All our furniture and music came to the new location with very few scratches, for what I want to give special thanks to the crew. Two items I ordered to be wrapped in bubble came intact at all. After unloading they assembled the bed, since there were still 5 minutes left to the deadline; from what I see they tried to provide value to the client for all of his money instead of "stretching time" in the last hour of work. All in all, our couple spent less time for moving than we expected and I tipped the guys $70 each also because they did the job one hour faster then we expected them to. In the case of EQM the saying "one move is equal to two fires" is not true. Honestly ;-). read more

Sergei and his team know what they're doing. These RUSSIANS ROCK!! Ignore the Whiney negative reviews/comments on this thread.... These guys are legit!! Just moved on 8/24/2014 and everything went very smoothly. Had a HUGE West Elm bed with side tables & storage drawers. (See link below) The Move leader efficiently dismantled that monster, taped it, hauled it and re-assembled it at no extra charge. http://www.westelm.com/products/3736501/?catalogId=36&sku=3736501&bnrid=3918508&cm_ven=Google_PLA&cm_cat=Furniture&cm_pla=Beds&cm_ite=West_Elm_Storage_Platform_Bedset%2C_1_Headboard%2C_1_Bed_Frame_with_Drawers_-_Full%2C_Chocolate&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=33-333647637-2 Requested 4 guys @ $105/hour which is a steal since I was moving prior to the end of the month when the prices are higher and you get less help for your money. Tried to go with Flatrate; Ben Hur and others... They all quoted me over $1000, FlatRate was $1350. "F" that!!! Told Sergei that if we can do this move for $500 bucks then you got a deal. He and his team were true to their word and performance... $505.50 total and I had A LOT of stuff... I also helped carry it which enabled us to finish in 2hrs 19mins.... That includes from the point of arrival to emptying one apartment, dismantling the WEST ELM monster bed to dropping everything off at the new place and putting that bed back together. So happy I hired these guys... Don't play yourself, Call Sergei/EQM NOW! read more

I had such a great experience with Excellent Quality Movers that I had to write them an awesome review. Rhine and his team did such a fantastic job moving my one-bedroom apartment. Each of the three guys worked with only minor breaks for about 5 hours. It took longer than I anticipated, but mainly because I hadn't packed a few things properly (lots of little things to pack/repack) and Rhine was really courteous and polite (and PATIENT!) the whole time. He explained the pricing of packaging things and was really professional about everything. His team worked diligently to pack and load/unload everything, and they were all friendly and courteous the whole time. It was so late when we finished and they even offered to reassemble the couch that had the legs taken off...I'm still unpacking but so far everything is in very good shape, nothing broken or lost, which is really comforting after planning a very last minute move. I should mention, Jack (who I booked the moving appointment with) was also really helpful and accommodated my last minute request for movers and even fit me in to the end of the day schedule (although I wouldn't recommend starting a move at 7pm, it's a long friggin day.) I just wanted to write and give Rhine and his team a good shout out, they really are fantastic! I'll definitely be recommending them to my friends and family in the future. I already have a friend who's planning to move by Aug 1 who is booking them for the move. read more

These movers are simply terrific: punctual, professional, conscientious. They definitely live up to their name Excellent Quality. We hired three guys for a large 1-BR move within Brooklyn and they not only moved our things, they also helped pack up loose ends when it became clear we weren't as prepared as we thought we were. They also extra-secured furniture and "soft" items. For example, I bought a plastic couch cover that I taped over our couch but they redid it much more securely with a furniture pad and plastic that covered the whole thing (no gaps like with the flimsy cover I bought). It arrived in perfect condition, as did everything else. We also had put soft items like towels and sweaters in industrial garbage bags. They put these in boxes before moving. Brilliant. They clearly know what they're doing. The crew leader also checked with us about any items that seemed to have prior damage. It was minor, but I really appreciated his attention to everything and that the communication was so clear and up front. And the price was half of what I had budgeted for the move. Downright inexpensive, especially for the exceptional quality. It would have been worth it at double the cost (so tip the guys well). In short, I was really impressed with these movers. I would use them again and will recommend them to everyone I know. read more

Moving is no fun and I've done it a few times before, but the move by this company was one of the worst experience of my life. Initially, one of their sales people, Sergei, came to my house and gave me a quote of about $1,800. I was essentially moving a 2-bedroom apartment within Astoria with some items to storage. It sounded like a better deal than what some other company offered so I went with these guys. It turned out to be a really bad mistake. Despite the initial estimate, the move with this company ended up costing me almost $3,000! That's not even the worst part. They ruined my living room coffee table and end table which cost several thousand dollars. It was later disclosed by the movers that they placed my brushed metal tables directly onto the metal floor of their truck without any padding whatsoever. Metal on metal. An entire side on each of the two tables are irreparably scratched. When I informed Sergei of the damage, he just stressed that I'd better pay them for the move, which I did. Sadly, they don't offer any insurance options. I asked about it right before the move and was told that they don't offer any. That should have been my red flag right there but I felt that it was too late for me to go with anyone else at that point because I had to move from the premises. Use this company at your own risk! read more

Great job!!!!!!Can not be any happier!!! Thanks, guys, for making my move to CT such a smooth, hassle and stress free experience. We've been recently relocating from 2 bedroom Brooklyn apartment to the townhouse in CT and were lucky enough to hire Excellent Quality movers Everything was done excellently - Alex and his crew arrived 15 min earlier, packed all our stuff, disassembled furniture, wrapped everything in a professional manner (i moved few times and never seen such a quality job). Guys left the old apartment 10 minutes earlier than us and got to the new place before we did. Unloading process went even quicker - they put all the furniture pieces together, brought our boxes into the exact rooms my wife asked them to, and even took all the empty boxes downstairs for us!!! The entire job was done within 8 hours, and the total cost came to be exactly as estimated, no hidden b*s* fees or charges. We gave $100 tip to each guy (which is very adequate considering quality and the amount of work they had done for us) and they seemed to be happy. I will definitely use EQ Movers in the future, and have already recommended them to my friends, who are looking to move to their new place soon. Thank you guys for such an EXCELLENT job!! Greatly done!!! Sincerely, Sam and Jane read more

These guys were great! Alex and his crew arrived 15 minutes early, got to work immediately, were efficient, & careful with all of my furniture. They even took extra time repairing a cheap dresser that was coming apart (I told them not to worry about it but they took a few minutes to reinforce the back for me). They arrived at the new building at almost exactly the same time we did. They unloaded everything quickly & had no issues carrying my two piece sectional sofa up 5 flights of stairs when it wouldn't fit in the elevator. They worked very quickly - even though they were dealing with a very slow elevator. They were polite and professional. Price was very reasonable - their hourly rate, including the cash discount, was by far the best I was quoted. As for the reviews complaining of extra fees - if you have all your stuff packed and ready to go you can avoid those fees. They will charge extra for any boxes they have to supply - but they will give you the exact costs for that kind of stuff in the quote they email to you so there are no surprises. I've moved a lot in my lifetime and have dealt with a lot of bad and a lot of "so-so" moving companies. These were the best I've ever worked with. I would happily use them again! read more

These guys live up to their name. My move with them was surprisingly painless. Great communication at the planning stage, then on moving day the team arrived on time, worked fast and nonstop, and were careful with my stuff. They placed things where I asked and untaped anything they'd wrapped for protection. The movers went above and beyond: A few hours after they'd left I noticed one piece was missing (a seat cushion; my fault for not securing it better), despite my earlier assuring the guys I had everything and seeing them double-check the truck before leaving. So I texted Andre, the foreman, and got a response very soon after, saying he'd alert the dispatcher and ask someone to look in the truck. Shortly after that he called back to say EQ had located the cushion and he'd pick it up and drop if off after his current project was finished. That second job was out of state, in a different truck, so he went out of his way and worked late to get the cushion to me. These guys are great and professional. In fact, Andre went over the contract upon arrival to confirm terms and to explain what I was signing. I had a bad experience with my previous move with another company, but on this job, I felt right away that I was in good hands. read more

I felt compelled to write my first Yelp review ever because of the exceptional experience I had with Excellent Quality Movers - their service is true to their name. Tim and his colleagues arrived on time (10 min early actually), and were kind, professional, and extremely efficient in getting all my furniture and boxes moved between boroughs in NYC. Even when everything out of our control went wrong (the building I was moving out of shut down the elevators, and I got locked out of my new apartment), the movers never ceased being professional and patient in working around these roadblocks. They got all my belongings to my new location as quickly as possible, with absolutely no damage, including delicate lamps, some framed items, delicate furniture, and electronics. They were very transparent about their policies and costs as well, and were able to competently answer all my questions. I also found the pricing to be competitive and fair, and would not hesitate to hire them again. Their truck was clean and only held my items, plus some extra packing supplies like moving blankets and tape. The next time I move, I will call them first, and I will recommend them to all family, friends, and colleagues who need a moving service. read more

This was the first time I have ever used movers in my history of moving. I always did it on my own. My bf and I decided to invest in movers, and boy am I so happy we did. They showed up early. I met Alex, whom i could title the foreman/ boss of the job. He was SO polite, and wonderful. He came in, reviewed our 1 bed apt, went out to the other 2 gentlemen, the rest of the team, and they began immediately. First they came early, then they started to work right away, i was SHOCKED!! Every time I looked, another bunch of things were moved out. We also have 2 cats...and the men actually de-linted the couch for us...I was ashamed for the mess, but ecstatic that they helped with that. They had the place packed within a few hours. The only snag, which was NOT their fault, was finding the new place...but with simple directions, they found their way, unloaded the truck, put the boxes where I asked them to, and they were on their way. Again, the BEST decision we made, and we WILL be recommending their services to friends and family, as well as using them for our next, and hopefully final move. You'd be sorry not to take them on! Hope this helps. Thank you Alex and team! read more
