When we found out that we'd have to move out for a few weeks, I felt overwhelmed, but from start to finish Excel made the experience positive and pleasant. On December we had a small house fire in our house. Due to Insurance delays we are finally getting some of the smoke recovery work done. We were so stressed out and very nervous about having all of our belongings, both big and small, moved out, stored and moved back in at a later date. But from the moment we met and spoke with our estimater, Mario, so many of our fears and anxieties were alleviated. He came to our home for an initial walk through and answered ALL our many, many questions in a kind and professional manner. He is a lovely, compassionate man who takes his job very seriously and really understands how traumatic it can be to go through an ordeal such as this. Mario assigned us an outstanding Crew Leader, Andres, who I cannot say enough good and positive things about. His work ethic is off the charts, he is super conscientious, professional, very organized, and ran everything like a well oiled machine. We had a water leak from our refrigerator that took out parts of the kitchen, our complete downstairs floor and damaged several walls. Paul was our estimator and sent out teams to pack up our furniture, kitchen, bedroom, living room and family room. They were thorough, professional and efficient. Fast forward several months and it was time to move us back in. Paul sent out Arlin and her team Jose, Juanita, Marina and Gerardo. Arlin called to give us a time they would arrive. They worked quickly, methodically and cheerfully. We have two book shelves, that were filled with books and displays. This was duplicated perfectly! You couldn't tell the contents had been completely emptied and put back. Next, we have a large cherry wood china cabinet, filled with crystal and china. Not only was it completely put back as previous, but they cleaned the mirrors, shelves and all the contents! All furniture was wiped down. The kitchen was a challenge because we updated it with new cabinets and layout. Juanita and Marina each helped unpack and place items as we directed. Jose and Gerardo had their workout since we have several large, heavy pieces of furniture. Our home was completely reassembled like magic. All the trash from the packing and boxes was consolidated to be hauled away. This was a big job, with many fragile items. Nothing was broken or damaged. I used excel restoration because of flood damage. My insurance company chose them so I wasn't sure what to expect. Let me just say, I am an artist and a mom and I have lived in this house for over ten years. I might have to admit to being a collector of things as well. :) I was SO nervous about a crew coming into my home and damaging things, losing things .... I have some priceless things! But, I am also a bit messy and cluttered so I was also worried about being judged. Well my project supervisor from Excel, Sergio, put all my worries to bed. He has got to be the best Jenga player of all time. He put everything I own into two really small seeming pods. They labeled everything, they took pictures, he organized better than I thought was conceivable. His team was respectful, quiet and super hard working. I could even tell that they were comfortable and happy with their team and Sergio. As the day came to pack in all my stuff - it rained, heavily. The one day that this extreme drought gave us rain had to be the pack in. I wasn't worried though, I knew Sergio paid close attention to how worried and anxious I was at the beginning. I knew that Sergio immediately understood that I was an artist and was most worried about the artwork. I remembered seeing him with white gloves carefully but also very efficiently packing my art with the utmost care. AAA sent these people out here to do the pack out after our home got flooded. They were quick to get everything packed out. When they came back to pack everything back in to the freshly painted house they had done some damage to the door casings and jambs, they broke a beautiful vase, and Rosie(the person in charge) took it upon herself to throw away our oak framed pewter pictures. Someone in that crew had the nerve to take my Yeti coffee cup that was left on the countertop after I had bought them doughnuts and coffee. Horrible experience, All beware! My old mother who hired this company to move heavy items into a container, turned into a nightmare, due to greed. Background story, We had pipe burst underneath my mother's house, which caused considerable amount of damage to the foundation of the house, while in the process of getting everything fix, my mother hired 'Excel Restoration' to pack/move heavy household items into a container. Story, "Paul" was the contact, at first he seemed legit, fairly understandable about the situation at hand, and very competent at his job.(hence why my mother would even hire this company, vs other movers/packers around our area). They have came to an agreed price verbally(big mistake), and everything was set to move into the containers at an exact future date. All small stuff items were previous packed by my step dad and my mother, like originally claimed, and all the heavy stuff ie. couches and frig, were to be loaded into the containers by this company. Everything went perfectly fine, packers were nice, and organized, and they got everything done fairly quick. The nightmare, When it came down to paying the bill 'Paul' who quoted my parents a price, went against the price that was originally agreed upon, and took advantage of my mother, knowing full well that she would have to pay any price 'Paul' imaginary made up(+80% of the agreed price) because the job was already done. 'Paul' even had the audacity to claim that my mother put words in his mouth? I mean what kind of business is this guy running? Fortunately, for my mother our insurance was contacted, and 'Paul' went with the agreed estimated price. Personal reflection, What happened to the days of old, where old mothers don't have to tiptoe around scumbags, greedy companies, and manipulative people, there to suck every penny from our mothers, and move onto the next, sad times we are living in. Although I do understand everyone has to "get theirs," but where is the line between "getting theirs" and the morals of a business? I would suggest to stay far away from a company like this, where they say one thing and mean another. tl;dr, Greedy company takes advantage of elder mother, insurance saves day(some how?)
