Evo Spa is an amazing place. When you walk past the retail store area, it seems like you've entered another world. The inside waiting area is very calming, and the staff is very friendly. I received a gift card and called to make an appointment for a deep tissue massage. I asked the staff person for a recommendation and she recommended Danika so I agreed. Danika was great; my body felt much better after my massage. The massage prices here are higher than my usual massage therapist, but it was a great massage. I live nearby and have purchased from the boutique several times in several months. I am now ashamed and appalled I've given this place my dollars. Nearly $500 since December. Holiday gifts: Wanda, brunette manager, could not be more poorly suited to a customer facing job. She is rude, insensitive, interruptive and lacks common"do the right thing" decency. After a pair of PJs I bought for a Xmas gift needed to be exchanged due to wrong size (no, I couldn't get my $ back, exchange was required)- we traded in for 2 pair of thick fuzzy socks in exchange. This was early January. By early Feb, one pair started to disintegrate. Literally 3-4 holes. So yesterday I took this pair in for an exchange. NOT refund request, no $ back- I knew the shop's rigid policy. All I wanted was something else. I'd pay the difference but wanted my mere $18 value in credit toward something. Because this product fell apart. Waiting in line, I heard two women communicating they'd purchased jewelry from Evo Spa, that had also fallen apart. Wanda, manager on duty refused to help. She had the audacity to tell me I should reach out to the vendor if I had an issue with quality of socks. Huh?!? I didn't purchase from the vendor. I purchased from Evo Spa, the merchant. Evo can take it up with their vendor. It's simple retail vs. wholesale transaction principles. I have observed Wanda's rudeness before. It's almost comical yet moreso, maddening, how little she Values or strives to retain customers. She said she "is handcuffed by the owner's policies". I asked her why she didn't want to do the right thing by a customer? ... Wanda said they're a small independent store and can't afford a $18 sock exchange. Oh, hmmmm. Ok. So instead this small store can afford to lose customers, including the negative WOM reviews that will follow based on this inflexibility. So be it. Evo has lost much more than one sock exchange. Shame on you. You have no idea how to compete in this tough retail climate where retaining repeat customers with integrity is everything. read more

I've been dying to get a massage at Evo Spa and my sister was kind enough to treat me to a massage for my birthday. Kelly is an amazing masseuse! It was one of the best massages I have ever received. I do not understand why there are so many negative and critical reviews. Yes, the sale rack outside is not very attractive, the reception area is stuffed full of merchandise and the waiting room is not all that aesthetically pleasing, BUT the treatment itself exceeded my expectations, especially after having read so many bad reviews. If you are looking for a luxury, 'spa' experience, Evo is not for you. If you are looking for competitively priced treatments by experienced professionals, Evo is a great choice. I would highly recommend Kelly and will be going back for another massage in the near future. read more

I have only been going to Evo Spa for less than a year but of my time spent there, I have had a good experience. Ive had a facial, foot spa treatment, a massage and am now getting spray tans by Linda. Linda is awesome! She is sooooo pleasant and her spray tans turn out perfect! She knows her stuff when it comes to application and product knowledge. I literally feel like I just went to the Bahamas when i get a spray tan from her. As far as convenience and availability this is the best day spa in Marin. i love the Claremont in the East Bay, and Indian Springs in Calistoga- but those places require more driving time. This place is quite nice. The whole vibe is calming. The robes are soft and beautiful. I've given gift cards and visited so many times I've lost count. So far, I've discovered three massage therapists and they're all very different. What's nice is that spontaneous visits can be accommodated. I just discovered Kathryn, and she was lovely. I don't like spas. They gross me out. I love Evo. I've gone there many times since they opened 3 or so years ago, and I think they've gone from good to great. It's rare to find a business that really cares about creating the best experience for you and really goes for the high end of what's possible. My experience of Evo is that the people there are really doing their best to bring you the best of what there is in the field and that they keep upgrading that experience. I've found the staff to be very caring, genuine and never pandering. That has always been refreshing. I've found the treatments to be authentic and top-level. In essence, I would describe Evo as a powerful refuge for the mature, discerning client who knows what's out there, has experienced it all, and wants to take her/himself to another level in a very real way. read more

Unfortunately I've had to find a different go-to spa for massages because the prices have gone up and become unreasonable for what you get. They're charging luxury resort prices. Have to keep in mind this is a very small boutique spa located in a strip shopping center. Prices should be reflect that. You're not getting use of a hot tub, steam room, sauna, pool, etc. Heck, the waiting room/lounge is tiny and a little uncomfortable to be in such close proximity to other people while you wait. read more

I have been going to Evo Spa for many years. It has become an essential part of what I call my healthy life. My visits started out as gifts I gave myself because I worked hard - and I deserved it! They have become much more. I went to other spas before this, but Evo Spa had the most congenial atmosphere for me. When I walk through the door, I enter an environment of peace and support where I am able to leave behind the stress and negativity of the world. I have never encountered anyone who was not welcoming, positive, and helpful. Amber's facials clean and refresh my face so that I am able to present a shining, healthy appearance to the world. Gitama's massages are both relaxing and energizing. They are just right to keep me balanced and pain free. Asia's LED treatment s keep my skin, smooth, toned, and supple. Sometimes I feel like these treatments are luxuries that I can do without, and certainly I could. However, the benefits I receive cannot be measured monetarily. They nurture my soul as well as my body. I walk out of there ready to take on the world for another week. read more

I needed a really good massage and not only was the customer service fantastic, the place was completely clean, decorated beautifully and the massage that I had was heaven. Was given a gift of an off the shoulder sweatshirt for Xmas from this spa and unfortunately, the size was too small. Had a gift receipt for item. Went to Evo tonight (1/9/2019) to exchange or possibly get a gift card and was told by manager (Jaylana)that "unfortunately this is just out of the time to return. The cutoff date to return or exchange was 1/7/2019" I then asked if I could just get a larger size and was told that this was a high demand item and that they didn't have any left. So, it's a high demand item that they sell out of quickly yet, I couldn't return for a gift card or exchange with a similarly priced item? That makes no sense to me. So, now I have a gift that someone spent time and money picking out for me but, will donate it. In an age where online businesses are putting brick and mortar stores out of business, I would think that customer service would be essential. Unfortunately, Evo spa's return policy is what will keep me from ever supporting this small and local business. read more

The spa setting is quite nice, but unfortunately my masseuse was not good. To pay $115 without tip for a Swedish massage, I'd expect something more than rubbing back and forth. There was very little kneading or anything that actually helped my muscles. It seemed as though she almost had no training, and was just guessing what to do. She also did not ask me once if the pressure was ok, if I had any injuries, etc. And the one focus area I asked her to work on (my hamstrings) she barely spent any time on. I would give less stars except the atmosphere was great, and I imagine not all their masseuses are this bad. I will likely not go back unless I can find a much better therapist. read more

We have enjoyed our many visits to Evo Spa! I really enjoy looking around and purchasing a few items before and after! We all --4 of us--have enjoyed our facials until recently! My son and husband were so excited to go together to get facials before he left for College and when they got to appt my husband was told the esthetician was ill! Therefore, he could not get facial at the same time as my son--so we can understand people get sick! Well, it just happened again this AM on Tuesday at 10 My son was so excited to get a facial and he received the call at 930 that esthetician was ill! There were no spots available until this afternoon--not good for him! They offered to give him massage but he is getting on Thursday elsewhere so again this was so disappointing! We are now afraid to make appointments here as this is the second time --maybe third--best for us to go elsewhere! Too bad--as we all enjoyed our facials--and then to be disappointed at the last minute--not ok! So hopefully you won't get cancelled or have bad luck like we had! Evo Spa has fantastic beauty products, clothing, PJs, etc. They are high-end so most of their products can be found elsewhere and at a bargain. I had beautiful facials and a massage at this spa. Now for the bad news. I bought many products at this spa. A month ago I purchased a bracelet at the counter. It wasn't expensive, and I bought 3 of them. The nice woman behind the counter places it on my wrist. When I got home, took off my jacket, I then noticed they fell off my wrist. I went back the next day and told them what happened. I was told by the manager "oh well," you must not have worn it correctly. I made the mistake of agreeing and bought two more. It took less than two days before they fell off my wrist again. The clasp was just too clumsy. When I spoke to the manager again, I asked if she could please contact the company because I wasted close to $100.00. At this point, it was another "Oh well." I noticed that the items were not on the counter anymore. When I asked her about the item and whether they were returned she said: "they are flying out like hotcakes, we are ordering more." I've stopped by several times in the past few weeks and did not see the bracelets. Could it be she was not honest with me? I've been trying to contact the owner. Evo Spa has become my home away from home. I walk in the doors and am greeted by friendly faces who remember my name, my favorite treatments, and make me feel special. Now for my favorite part the treatments! Has anyone tried the detox slimming wrap?! It's amazing helped me lose inches before a tight dress event. They did the wrap and I lied on this bed that was filled with water and felt like I was in zero gravity. I haven't relaxed like that in years. I regularly get massages here and always leave softened, relaxed and more in tune with my crazy self. Oh I can't forget to mention the best facial in the world...the Epicurean..If you want "the glow" all I can say is get this facial. I love to sit in the waiting room after my treatments listen to the soothing music, sip a cup of tea, munch some of the yummy healthy snacks and look at the great selection of books and angel cards and just chill. I give ONE Star, and this is probably an unfair score. However, first impressions are important, and mine was not positive. I just finished a very stressful year (read: over 200K miles flown, only 26 days spent at home, etc.), and decided to change jobs. I have the month of March to reboot and relax. Because I have traveled SO MUCH, I want to stay home. I want to find a nice local place where I can go for pampering, detoxing, etc. I started researching online, and found the website for EVO spa. It was encouraging! Wellness and detox offered for 3 or 7 day packages. It looked like a nice, clean facility! The reviews on their website were positive. I looked on Yelp to find very mixed reviews, but thought, OK, I will go check it out in person. I did so this afternoon. I parked in the back thinking the front would be full since this is Strawberry Village. There was a sign asking that I use the front entrance - no problem - but I couldn't help noticing two cigarette butts by the bench that was outside of their back door, and that the general area seemed dirty. OK, maybe someone sat there - it is a strip mall and sometimes you cannot help who might hang out in the back, etc. There was a sign in the back in the middle of the sidewalk, advertising some of their services to include wellness and detoxing. Cool! I walked to the front, and the first thing I saw after walking by the very clean "Blowout Salon" business on the corner, was a rolling rack with a bunch of clothes on it, and a table with a hodge podge of sale stuff sitting on it - a sidewalk clearance section. I'm all for a sale, but it was not appealing, and could have at least been straightened or merchandised a bit more nicely. Also note, it was not busy, and there were a lot of parking spots out front so I could have easily parked in front. I went inside, and as mentioned in prior reviews, it was a retail in the front, spa in back. The retail area was kind of a mess. Three girls were behind the counter, and one was working in the retail area - I think she was stocking product. It just seemed like an odd mix of stuff for sale. Skin care lines on shelves on the walls, but then a whole bunch of other miscellaneous items. I know, I am picky, and from a high luxury retail background. I went to the counter where the three women were working. I said hello, the middle woman (never got her name even though I told her mine) looked up and said hi, may I help you? She seemed very pleasant. The woman on the right was working on a computer, I think the one on the left was, too, not sure, neither of them looked up which was fine because the middle woman had said hello. I said that I was looking for a good detox wellness package, and wanted more info beyond what I had read on the website. I got no additional info, and she wasn't able to explain the services, or what went with the 3 or 7 day, and had to check with the woman to her left about what was included while she looked at a piece of paper taped to the counter. She did explain the best way to schedule the process if I wanted to do the three day detox. She mentioned the program they use and said I could look it up online. No additional info given - like, "I've done it, the juices are great/green/whatever". Throw me SOMETHING besides saying I can read it online. I had to ask for a menu, etc. I was slightly put off but the amount of makeup all three women were wearing, and that their skin didn't look very clear (I get my facials regularly at Stellar Spa and everyone who works there looks clean and glows). Not good advertising. I just felt kind of icky, and had to leave. I was bummed out because I really tried to keep an open mind but the uncleanliness and lack of knowledge just turned me away. Again, a bit harsh giving one star without having any service provided, and not having seen the back/service area. By the way, I have realistic expectations - for example, when you go to Joseph Smith's, you know what to expect. EVO spa was not at ALL what I expected. read more

I am frustrated to receive an email blast offering a 15% off for a massage. When I try to immediately book online as soon as I receive the email, nothing shows as available. I call and leave a VM but since they aren't open yet, I wait more than an hour for call back. I feel they are hoping I will still go ahead a book appointment even without the discount. I feel it's bait and switch. Turn off to me. I prefer to not receive these teases since I cannot book at the price offered because they only accept the discount for service booked for that day only. Sad to downgrade my review from 6 months ago. Every time I find a great facialist or masseuse at this spa, they quit. I find that very frustrating and irritating. When I find someone I like, I want to continue seeing that person. Something is off here at this spa if they can't retain good people. If you need a spa service just one time only, go ahead and book. If, like me, you are wanting to go back to the same place over and over again and see the same employee, I would not recommend this place. read more

Ok, this is hard to review because I really enjoyed my two past facials with Sara. She is so nice, and when you're done your face looks incredible. I've been told by several people how flawless my skin has been looking the past 6 weeks or so but just two sessions. I would give 5 stars if this review were for Sara alone, but the price point is VERY high. It's a little alarming to pay $260 after tip for an hour facial (granted they have extras you can add on which would make it a little less or more), but in my opinion most of the "extras" should be included in the facial price. Very nice and zen surroundings of the spa as well. Check it out - I do plan to go back to Sara if I can't find someone else in the Bay Area who does such an excellent job with my skin as she does. read more

HORRIBLE experience! Only benefit is convenient hours. Booked 3rd appointment for recurring problem on back within a month. First person did an OK job. Second person applied an acid without permission that burned. Third appointment, Marcy, took one quick glance and refused to do anything and was exceptionally RUDE. Never looked closely at the area, touched it or would listen to anything I said. Kept changing her story (go to doctor, come back in a week, put ice on it (yeah - in the middle of my back!) . Without even speaking to me to hear my experience, the manager did call as requested but left message basically telling me not to book another appointment (they thought I should go to a dermatologist even though it was the dermatologist that said go to an aesthetician). They did me a huge favor. Went to Skin Spirit in the same shopping center a few days later. WONDERFUL experience. Treated the problem which is now 100% better! Will never go back to EVO spa. Have been to many spas across the country for this recurring problem over the last 30 years. Never been treated like this, anywhere, anytime! read more

What a disappointing experience. My husband bought me a massage for my birthday, plus an extra treatment. I did a Swedish massage and wanted reflexology because I love foot rubs the best. They suggested I do a Thai foot/head massage as an add on. They have a great retail shop in front, but it's a weird combo with a spa, as you have nowhere to really hang out until they call you back. The spa itself is lovely, nice robes, tea & snacks while you wait. I've had many massages and this was one of the worse. It was like a soft rubdown, she did not massage me at all and didn't touch any of the knots in my back! The foot/head rub was not any better, not enough feet time and she poured warm oil all over my head. Yikes. I am usually prepared for messy hair after a massage but I had to stuff paper towels in my cap my hair was SO oily. I did purchase several things in the shop, but will not be returning for a massage. Front desk/retail area is unorganized. I walked around the store for 10 minutes after my massage waiting for the line to clear, I could have easily walked out with paying. read more

After a long day, last week I had a massage at Evo Spa. It turned out to be the worst massage I have ever had. I was rushed into the massage room as I entered the facility (even though the place was not busy). The masseuse was very aggressive with his technique. Several times I had to ask this person to stop because he was hurting me. Each time he returned to the same level of force he had been using on me. In hind sight, I should have stopped the session and gotten out of there but I stuck it out. At the end, I went to the front desk to share my experience with the receptionist. Although they discounted the massage, I felt concern that the masseuse would not get the corrective talk he needed to prevent others from getting hurt. In the end, no one called to follow up and so I had to call the spa. The person on the phone heard my complaint and suggested that I not contact the owner, because the owner would not be receptive to my complaint. I would not recommend this spa. read more

This place was tucked away in the Strawberry Village but easy to find. I was a little unsure of what to do but the staff was very friendly and soon put me at ease! The classic facial was wonderful but I ended up with more irritation then I started with, but it could have just been my skin clearing up. I felt great and my skin was glowing two days after my session! The music was a little too mellow for me, but it was a tranquil environment and I knew that going in. I have never written a review on Yelp before but I just had a very strange spa experience. I will say I have been to Evo Spa many times before and I have always received good service there until today. I had a facial today - I have had dozens of facials in my life at numerous different spas throughout the country. Evo's pricing is consistent with most high end spas. I booked a one hour European facial. About thirty minutes in, my aesthetician left the room after applying a mask in order to go get hot towels. This is normal. I waited, and waited, and waited. I started checking my watch. She came back twenty minutes later with the towels. Then she wiped off my face and said I was done. I did not receive a hand massage, arm massage, foot massage, head massage, etc. I was not sure at first what to make of this but I thought maybe she assumed this was a half-hour facial. But no, and hour had passed and I was charged for an hour long facial (the facial had started five to ten minutes late). I have never had this experience at a spa before. I will say that the aesthetician did know what she was doing, she was able to describe the products she was using and their purpose and diagnose issues with my skin. So she clearly was a technically expert aesthetician. But it is totally inappropriate to provide only 55%-60% of a service in this economic climate when the service is a luxury. If a spa charges a client $100 for a sixty minute massage, then its aesthetician should provide sixty minutes of a massage, not thirty five minutes. So despite the good service I have previously received here, I will not be returning to Evo Spa. read more

got a gift certificate for a mama-to-be massage. now - for that to really rock - you need the pillows where you can lie on your tummy (a rarity for us bump-beholden). my massueur (Raul) was very nice and had a great touch - but didn't seem to know the best way to make a pregnant woman comfortable (with the set up) and he avoided my butt like the plague (helllooo - isn't that the largest muscle in the body??? it needs to be massaged!!). it wasn't the greatest, and it certainly wasn't the worst. it was a solid mediocre. i got another gift certie here (us preggo's are desperate for massages) - so i'm going to try someone else and see if they are worthy of a massage entitled "Mama To Be". read more

I have been here about a half dozen times and my biggest complaint is the service at the front desk. Besides one blond young woman, they are really rude and pushy. Which is really rough when you've just had a massage, are feeling blissful, and then have a rude awakening when you are just trying to pay and they start arguing with you. My sister had a facial here and said the woman was really rude to her about her skin. My husband also had the front desk staff infuriate him. I talked to the manager about it nothign came of it. I used to tolerat this because my favorite massage guy was here, Brian. However, they fired him, so, now I have no reason to go back. I also like the meditation room in the back where you can wait for a treatment, it is very peaceful (although the front desk makes you feel bad if you get there too early and want to wait there before your massage, its almost like they dont want you to use it). read more

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Evo Spa. A friend of mine and I had appointments for massage in the evening. I highly recommend going in the evening because it was exceptionally quiet and relaxing to unwind at the end of the day. The front of the store is primarily retail. There's tons of cute things and delicious smelling candles. I do feel that much of the clothes can be purchased more affordably somewhere else. The back area of the spa is quiet. You immediately feel like a VIP once you go through the spa door. I appreciated the private dressing room area and free locker during our session. There's a shower and plenty of toiletries. It's very well thought out. I really like the pre-treatment room. There were snacks, fruits, tea, nuts, and flavored water. The couch was comfy and I enjoyed having a angel tarot deck to explore while waiting. My massage therapist was delightful. I highly recommend Nicole. I went in for a deep tissue massage. It wasn't intense like most of the deep tissue work I got, but I feel it was exactly what I needed for that day. Nicole helped me to feel comfortable and I found her easy to share with because she could relate to my back troubles. I loved the heated table and the delicious scents in the treatment room. When I booked my reservation, the secretary said that this spa didn't offer aromatherapy sessions, but I still felt fulfilled with the calming and refreshing scents offered during my massage. I was also grateful that the spa allowed us to wind down after the massage and spend some extra time in the pre/post-treatment lounge. It's a great space to meditate and fully soak in the healing work I just experienced. I definitely plan to return. It was relatively easy to book a massage, but if you plan on any other service, you want to schedule a few days/a week in advance. read more
