VEGETABLE SAMOSA
Markisha D.

Tried this place today after hearing soo many great things! Our friends raved about the Indian food and that's what we tried! Garlic Naan, Spring Rolls & Curry w/lamb & white steamed rice. Everything was really good and I would definitely order all of them again. We even had some cracker like appetizers with three different sauces and that was cool as well. Our daughters had chicken tenders and ff, a decent kids meal option. There are a few more menu items I would like to try the next time I visit. We ate inside and I enjoyed the atmosphere- which is small and intimate. The servers were polite and did a great job checking on us. 7/10 for me!

Wonderful food and wonderful people I was a bit skeptical about this place from the outside but once I ordered and tried the food I was instantly in love with the place and said this will he a go to spot for sure in the future!! Absolutely phenomenal!! The ambiance here is nice and cozy and just right in a quiet little town couldn't be better!

We really enjoyed our dinner at Everest Kitchen and definitely plan to return! The service was quick, food was tasty, and prices were reasonable. It's interesting that they serve other Asian dishes as well, but for now we wanted to stick with the Indian dishes so we could get a feel for their signature dishes. They start you off with two complimentary pieces of papadum and some tasty sauces. Then we ordered a stuffed garlic naan, paneer tikka masala, and navratan korma. The stuffed garlic naan and paneer tikka masala were really good, just as we expected. The navratan korma was something new that we've never tried before. They are vegetables cooked in a sweet, rich, and creamy sauce and it was so good. We can't wait to return! There aren't many Indian restaurants east of Raleigh and Wendell is so lucky to have Everest Kitchen.

This restaurant honestly now has the best Naan I have ever tasted! No more frozen naan, it's freshly made in-house and absolutely delicious! Not only does something like this put this restaurant a step above the rest, it positively enhances the already excellent entrees and there are apparently more menu changes to come. I look forward to returning! Cheers!

My wife and I stopped in on our way back from a football game in Raleigh. The vibe is really cool. My wife had the shrimp lomein and I had the drunk man noodles, both were great. The service was a little slow but overall we had a great experience. Better service would've put it at 5 stars. We will definitely go back!

Small restaurant in Wendell, but the food is good. Service may be a little slow sometimes. I really liked their Indian vegetarian options.

Not sure what changed, but the naan had a disconcerting smell and flavor. Made me wonder if the food served to us went bad.

During the week Masala House runs a lunch special from 11 am - 2:30 pm (Monday - Friday) which includes an entree, vegetable soup, naan, rice, and dessert. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and my partner ordered the butter chicken. I definitely prefer the butter chicken as chicken thigh meat was used vs. chicken breast in the chicken tikka masala. Both dishes were excellent and had great flavor. The rice and naan being included was also a nice touch. The vegetable soup at the beginning of the meal was also hot when it arrived and full of flavor. For dessert I ordered the rice pudding which was excellent and not too sweet. If I'm in the north Raleigh area again I'll definitely be stopping by Masala House for lunch.

Even the naan, some of which had potatoes in it, was not labeled, so we had to handle all of it to figure out what was what. Immediate loss of a star. The food itself was good! (Not great) All of it, even though we marked everything as Mild, was very spicy. (They labeled everything on the menu as 1-10 but don't list if 1 is the most spicy or 10. I would guess 10, but Mild was by the 10 choice? I will post a picture.) So if you are sensitive to spice, this might not be the place for you. I ordered the potato Nana and the Baingan Bhartha. I liked both. I did not realize the Baingan was more soup then a dish. (Especially when you don't eat rice.) The Aloo Kauli looked like a stew and I was told it was good but had a strange taste. When I asked about the Dry Chili Chicken, I was told it was just spicy and filling. I asked if it was good or have a certain flavor? And she described it as just spicy. (She ordered mild, too.) The others were similar. I am not sure we will order from here again. Especially for a group. But if you like spicy, this might be the place foe you!

We tried the Chicken 555, lamb tikka masala, chicken tikka masala, lamb saag, rice, and garlic naan. Each dish had its own flavor, and the naan was perfect for enjoying every bit of the sauces. You can make reservations using the Yelp app, but we got there at 6pm Thursday and tables were open anyway. It filled up in about 90 minutes. Not a lot of pics in the huge menu. They have specials on certain days. After we ordered, we found out about a great deal for Thursdays. It was our fault we missed it because it was written RIGHT THERE on the menu. The lack of pics made it tough to order, though I'd had Indian many times. And the thick accents from the employees didn't help us to decide anything. Myself, I just stuck to curry. I picked mutton because I'd always wanted to try it. Yelp pics didn't help much either because few people write in descriptions what the photos are. Everything tasted amazing. They really know their food. Not to take anything away from the main dishes (I told you I loved them) but the standout for me were the fried pepper appetizers. A mix of just enough outside crunch and soft inside flavor. I'm no fan of chai tea, but I really liked theirs. The mutton was great, but I more prefer my meals without bones in them. Like with oxtails, which are routinely more skeleton than flesh, it's never a fine experience finding your bite to be a mouthful of bone. It's overrated, I promise you. The bill paying system is grossly inefficient. Tell them you want separate checks and nothing happens until the very end where everyone has to tell the server what they ordered, in a language they don't understand, mind you, and she charges everyone, one by one. It took like ten minutes to get through our party of five. It's a really bad method. Since it was my birthday, they played a YouTube video over the speakers. It was a generic "Happy Birthday To Whomever" type deal that worked fine, but they let it play for its whole fifteen minute runtime. It was cute, funny and ridiculous all at once. Wonderful food, nice servers, language barriers can be tough, and some questionable business practices still make this one a solid keeper. Just brace yourself.

I'm not sure what was going on outside the restaurant, but there was a very unpleasant odor. Had we not already placed our order, I might have gotten right back in the car. Fortunately, the smell didn't carry inside. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with lovely blue hues and modern accents that create a welcoming atmosphere. Our food was hot and ready at the promised time. I liked the menu setup, which allows you to choose your protein or vegetables, sauce, and preferred spice level. The mild Tikka Masala with tilapia was excellent. The mild Chicken Saag was a bit spicier than expected, and the spinach is puréed more thoroughly than at some restaurants where the greens remain more distinct. That said, it was very flavorful, and the chicken was exceptionally moist. The Lachha Parantha, described as a flaky bread, was a little overdone and chewy. On the other hand, the kheer (rice pudding) was rich, flavorful, and pleasantly thick. Overall, Lazeez serves fantastic Indian food in Rocky Mount. Despite a couple of minor issues, we'd happily order from them again.
