We had issues with this company right from the word go by having them open our pool. The technician did a terrible job, left it unfinished and had no people skills. I left an honest review and was contacted by the owner to "make things right". They sent back the same technician who basically told me that he's just fixing things so I will take down my review...cool. I had them come back again as things still weren't working properly and they told me that my sand filter was broken and needed to be repaired. They charged me like $1200 to replace the sand and fix the filter. I struggled with this pool for years after and could not figure it out, even after having several companies come to look. I always told them that I had my filter and sand replaced recently so they didn't check that. I finally had a competent company come to look and they really urged me to check the filter. They found sand that looked like concrete and the rebuilt filter that Everclear did, wasn't even long enough to hit the sand, so I had been fighting with this pool and getting so frustrated for a very long time because of this companies complete incompetence! I had to get everything done again and paid another $1200, just to have my pool actually function. DO NOT RECOMMEND!! read more

Go with someone else. Jason and his team replaced our pool liner and steps June 2017. We went with him to save a few hundred bucks and thought he was very responsive. It was all completed a three weeks later than expected. We were originally going for Memorial Day weekend. We were flexible because we were getting married soon and were also going on our honeymoon right after. The steps and liner were fine. We supposedly needed a new pump too. (I'll never really know for sure about this but at this point, it doesn't matter.) The liner seemed to come apart from the edges of the pool but someone from Everclear stopped by to fix it. We were enjoying our pool enough in 2017 so we also chose to go with Everclear to close it. Everyone realized that anchors for the pool cover were not replaced when our steps were replaced... including Jason. I recall asking him if we needed them when he had us review the liner/steps work - he told us we could just throw them out! I will admit that the new steps are a different shape than the old ones, which means our cover wouldn't actually cover the new steps, but Jason never gave us the heads up. Instead, we had our original cover plus a blue tarp for the winter. It was an eye sore to say the least. I received three separate invoices for the pool closing in 2017, one left in the mailbox upon closure, another in the mail to account for the tarp, and I believe a last one to include the tarp and the water weight bags (not sure what they're called). On top of the terrible organization, they were all with an NJ sales tax rate of 7.00%. Mind you, NJ was already at 6.875% for 9+ months at this point! Even so, I was hoping this was all a misunderstanding and had them open our pool for 2018, especially since I was hoping they could fix what went wrong in 2017. My husband had quite a game of phone tag with the office. He'd leave messages and they'd try calling me despite him leaving his phone number. We finally had a couple of phone calls with Jason directly and asked him to also fix our pool heater (they didn't break it, it just wasn't functioning properly because we as the homeowners tried replacing our timer on our own). He said it was no problem, to include it in our opening agreement and he'd be sure to join his crew when they opened the pool to fix it for us. I wrote a note and even confirmed with Mike from Everclear that it was noted in our pool opening appointment. All sounded great! Except...he didn't come. No call or cancellation, just nothing. It was just the pool guys who wrapped up the pool cover and tarp. In addition, since the pool cover and tarp were doing such a terrible job over the winter, our pool was disgusting when it was uncovered. It took us days to vacuum it all. Despite all this, I still emailed him detailing our concerns from 2017 to see if he'd still be willing to address our concerns. Nothing. (Oh, by the way, our liner needs to be "tucked in" again too.) We finally reached out to another pool company for help and they've been in touch and already stopped by numerous times to help. During one of the visits, we found out that the (new) pool pump was set on overdrive. Funny, I can't help but to think this was a ploy to sell us a new pool pump sooner. Sorry for the wall of text. Jesus and Ziad came to open our pool on Friday and while checking the equipment found that the pressure gauge on the filter was broken which meant the pool could not be turned on. Seeing my disappointment they made it a point to get the part and return later that day to get the pool opened! They recommended that they do the initial vacuum so that all the dirt would not clog up the filter, thus avoiding a mid season service call. Brilliant. The next day they returned to vacuum, fantastic job, and check the chemical balances. They stressed the importance of keeping the balances within range so as not to harm the system. Outstanding work, expertise and professionalism. Well worth the cost. Thanks so much! read more

Today, April 30th was a big day for our household, we had our pool opened! We lost the use of our pool early last July when a huge oak tree came dome and destroyed the pool we had. Ever Clear Pools and Spas worked all summer to rebuild the pool for us but we did lose the use of the pool for a big part of last year. Today Ever Clear Pools and Spas opened up our brand new pool for us. Ziad and Jesus came to do the job for us, we have known both of them for several years and it was great to see them this opening day. They always do an outstanding job, no hassle, no questions, they know what to do and just do it! I would never have any reservation in recommending Ever Clear Pools and Spas to anyone who needs pool work done be it a ground up installation or a weekly maintenance, an extra bonus would be if you got Ziad and Jesus to execute the work. After reading close to 100 reviews I was sold on this company. I called and everyone was very eager to help. I wish that enthusiasm lasted longer than that phone call. We were forced to micromanage this company every week for 2 months. After 2.5 months I still didn't have solutions to my problems. It was virtually impossible to get any of the management on the phone or to respond to an email. After another missed service call and some BS excuse we decided to move on. Working with this company was a complete headache. Earl and Jose closed my pool. They cleaned my filters thoroughly which most services just spray a hose and that's it. EverClear lowers your pool for you unlike most companies tell you to do that before they come. Earl and Jose were very neat and put all my stuff away. Little things like putting the garden hose nicely back and rolling the backwash hose instead of just leaving it in the dirt is one less thing I have to do. Horrible! Please do not waste your time using this pool company. They are beyond horrible!! They are not professional at all. They never return phone calls or emails. They over charged my account by $700. They didn't even ask for my approval when they charged my debit card. The workers have no idea what they are doing. Because of them my filter almost blew up.I called the owner for help and he told me to YouTube it instead of helping me. He also had the audacity to tell me not to call his personal cell phone anymore and to contact his receptionist!! After several phone calls she finally responded two days later and was no help at all . All he wants is money! My biggest regret is using them. Biggest waste of money and such a letdown! Update* I just spoke with the owner Jason. If I could give him and his company 0 stars I would! His profanity and hot headed temper was so uncalled for and so unprofessional. Jason the owner is in the category of a glorified used car salesman and not a very smart guy. His pool tech "Ricky" is a complete hack. The bottom line is that this company (if you could call it that) does shoddy work and refuses to fix their mistakes. E.g. we contracted them to fix our pool lights. Ricky shows up with no ladder and has to use mine. With the lights replaced they all failed and two brand new seals broke as soon as the pool was filled with water. A season later the light is falling out of its socket. Ricky came back and blamed the whole thing (wrongly on an electrical problem that he couldn't troubleshoot...blaming his shoddy work on an electrical problem is total nonsense--he does not understand circuits nor does he even own a VOM). Cristin who answers the phone is typically rude and a liar who is the interface to Jason who will not speak on the phone. She scheduled an appointment to revisit the lights and cancel by email a week later leaving us high and dry with this pathetic excuse "I was advised by Jason and Ricky that we will not be able to service your pool. It was a decision made between the two of them in regards to the work that needs to be done." This is doublespeak for "we only pick the big money plum jobs and we won't fix our own messes along the way b/c there's too much demand right now--so sorry buddy!" Typical hack company. I guess I'm old-fashioned I believe in customer service and a quality job. This is NOT the place for that. Do not let these high-school drop outs anywhere near your pool as you will be **very** sorry with their shoddy work and unprofessionalism. We paid them many hundreds to fix these lights and they were never able to be used--not once. Don't just take my word for it, but please take a look at the attached photo of my lights and then decide if you want them to work on your pool. They will never be allowed on my property ever again. From initial Spring opening to Fall closing; this company has provided my 16'x32' inground pool with the most professional and excellent servicing which greatly exceeded the other 2 northern NJ pool maintenance companies that I have used in the past!! The opening/weekly service/closing costs were affordable and the pool was crystal clean and absolutely 'Ever Clear' exactly as their name implies! The customer service (Mary who's a sweetheart) is genuinely friendly and every member of the company seriously cares about the pool that they are taking care of as well as the homeowner's needs. I'm 100% satisfied and am already looking forward to the 2020 season and having Ever Clear open the pool again; knowing that the pool will be taken care of as perfectly as it was in 2019. 0 stars should be an option. I spoke with the owner twice by telephone and he knew how important it was to me to make sure I could have a pool at my soon-to-be new home. We scheduled an appointment to meet at the property (for the soonest appointment he could make). I live 30 minutes from the house right now. I had to be at the house at 9 am to meet with the home inspector and was scheduled to meet the owner of Everclear pools at 5 pm. So after the home inspection, I went to "work from home" at a friend's in the area despite them having 2 loud dogs who bark all day so I could be sure to meet the owner at the new house by 5 pm. I also had to make it to a work meeting at 6:30 pm. I sat in the driveway from 5-6 pm. He did not respond when I tried to call him at 5:20 or text him around 5:30. He has yet to call me back or reach out at all. I had told other contractors that I no longer needed a quote because I was meeting with a contractor. So now I have to go back and re-schedule with a different contractor. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Let me start by saying that I do not take pleasure in writing bad reviews. But please be aware of Ever Clear Pools of Clifton NJ. Jason of Ever Clear Pools and Spas came to my house to open the pool late April of this year. He informed us that we needed a new motor for the filter which he charged us $600 for which he asked for payment while standing on my pool deck without an invoice or receipt as he stated he needed it to make payroll that week. Very unprofessional. I have since been told that that was not a fair price. He also tried to tell us that. the filter was clogged and would cost between $150 to $450 to be repaired and proceeded to blame the issue on the company that we had close the pool. I then said to him, if it's their fault, let me have them address it. Turns out the filter needed to be cleaned, soaked in acid. Normal procedure at opening. I got the opinion of 3 separate companies. I called Jason several times to discuss this with him. Left a message with his mother the receptionist. No response. The Motor he installed almost went on fire a few weeks later because they did not bother to change the wire so they replaced the motor leaving the bad wires. I called Jason to give him an opportunity to right the wrong caused by the motor he install and demanded on the spot payment for. He told me he would stop by on his way home from needless to say I am still waiting for a response from him 2 days later. Extremely disappointed with this company. read more

Ever Clear replaced the liner in my in ground pool and did an excellent job

So I called ever clear to come and close our pool, after leaving 2 message on the "office line" with no call back I should of known, but again I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called Jason directly. At first he seemed very nice and accommodating told me he would be there on Friday morning because he had a big job that afternoon price seemed compatible with others. So waiting all day Friday and NOTHING, no call no Jason!!! So I called back and he actually had no clue who I was or the 10 minute conversation we had he said he would be there by 5 so I said ok and guess he never came! I called him and I said I assume it's dark now so you won't be coming! He proceeded to give me a 10 minute bullshit line and told me he would be there Saturday afternoon. Guess what happened he never showed!!! Called his voicemail and it was full answering machine in the office was office! He and this chop shop company should be ashamed of the way he runs this business! Maybe I should be lucky he didn't come based on the other reviews. If I could give negative stars, I would. Jason and Ever Clear Pools does not even deserve a 1 star rating. Worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. Jason told me multiple times he would be over to take care of my pool and just didn't show up. If that wasn't enough, there was NO communication on his end updating me that, 'other things came up', or 'he worked late the night before'. I do understand things happen, but multiple times and without a phone call telling me this is completely unacceptable. Jason takes no accountability for this either.
