Our old pool heater wasn't working. I was in the store getting chemicals and asked if they could send someone out to take a look. They were able to come the same day! Unfortunately, the heater was too old to fix. I was given an estimate for a replacement and they were able to install it the very next day. Their crews are very knowledgeable, friendly and neat. This company provides amazing service that checks off all my boxes. It is a great family owned business (Russell and Liz) and the company itself is trustworthy and fair. My previous experiences at other vendors included overcharging bloated premiums and utilizing cheap ploys to increase profits. These guys provided me with great advice and a fair bill for renewing a beautiful pool. I had them repair my heater to maintain the water temperature retention and some fiberglass work on my pool. Although I was very new to the repair process, the staff were super nice and understanding. They calmly and carefully walked me through their procedures and provided a toll free line for any additional questions. The staff are professional and extremely experienced. I will definitely return if I ever experience any further pool issues. One of the best pool repair companies in all of New Jersey. Impossible to rate. ZERO customer service provided. I question their mission statement "we know pools"???? That may be the case, but . . . .????? How can Alpa be in business when Liz does not even have courtesy to return calls and respond to requests???? Following several attempts to receive merely a return call; customer service was nonexistent. I tried not to be influenced by others advice, yet there was zero customer service following several attempts to visit, receive a call back, or even to say "We are just too busy." I waited and waited for 2+ months to no avail. Customers would say; 'Don't expect a call back, they've too had bad experiences. I understand and should not have given the benefit of the doubt that I would not receive a response for the 2+ months. I too recommend as advised; TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. read more

Fabulous work/Excellent Service! They replaced our liner and skimmer in our old pool in May 2020. They always answer the phone, and always show up on time for scheduled appointments! Everything they did was aligned to an emailed estimate, price is extremely competitive, and the quality of service was excellent! They measured the pool themselves and suggested what vendor to chose for the liner, and let us know exactly when the liner had been created/shipped, they even suggested a great water company to fill the pool. They did exactly what the estimate said and at the price quoted!! They are also going to doing all pool maintenance and cleaning for us. I have recommended them to everyone I know who has a pool, they really value their clients! read more

I'm writing a positive review for a long-time company that has serviced my pool for over 10 years. The pandemic has caused so many companies to suffer and employee have changed over the years. That being said the family business in this case has tried very hard to keep all the pools under there care functioning when other fly-by-night pool guys have disappeared. I've had that case happen to me numerous times in the past and now I've been loyal customer to this company located in North Haledon and found them to be there for me. I can always run over for a pool sample or get direction over email. They've replaced many of my pool filter, pumps and Polaris vacuum. They preform weekly service here and take care of me. Thank you Jack son of Russell and Liz for running the business with the same professionalism as your Dad. It's nice to talk to Mom too on the phone. I received a letter 9/6 complaining about some of the words I used in my original review. They did NOT argue that they had entered my property without permission, nor did they in any way claim that my story was untrue or that they had in fact been in compliance with their contract. According to http://www.dashfarrow.com/criminal-law/criminal-trespassing/, Defiant Trespassing is defined as " New Jersey Statutes (NJSA) 2C:18-3b explains that a person commits a petty disorderly offense if he or she had been notified against trespassing but still chose enter or remain in a place. The warning could have been verbal, through signage or via fencing designed to keep intruders out." As my entire property is fenced in (albeit unlocked), one could argue that there is notification against trespassing. As such one might read my review belowand then read the definition of trespassing and perhaps connect the dots. Below is a slightly tweaked version. I opened a claim saturday night with my warranty company, got an email saying they would call for an appointment. Monday at 920AM my wife comes home and they let themselves into my yard and were messing with my equipment. They did not call to set up an appointment. They did not know what was wrong, they just opened the fence and walked to my backyard like they owned the place and started an unauthorized exploratory search of my equipment. Nothing appears damaged so at least i don't need a new claim for that. They called me and were adamant that what they did is how they always work and is the correct way. Given that i have had at least 6 other different services from AHS, and they all called first, i find it very hard to believe that they legitimately believe they can just waltz onto someone's property without their express consent. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this company! I could use terms like: trustworthy, responsive, fair, honest, conscientious, smart, etc. but it still wouldn't be high enough praise. The family that runs it (Russel, Liz, Jack, Molly and Kylie) and some of their team that I know; Jeremy and Nick; all contribute to the synergy that makes this company work so consistently well together. I've had horrific experiences with other vendors who have terrible advice, tried to blatantly overcharge me, and worse. Caveat emptor is very true when dealing with pool companies. Great pool maintenance company, which is rare! I had an emergency when my previous pool guy did not complete my opening a week before a huge party at my house! Worked with Russell, Rich and Liz to get our heater repaired through a third-party home warranty service contract; although we experienced subpar service from the warranty co. which was later corrected, and had to make several calls unrelated to Alpa, Sean was able to repair the heater - however, had to call them back due to water not retaining heat, and upon returning, they discovered that the company we used to open our pool (see review on Clearwater) never removed the winterizer plugs for the spa...Alpa did not charge for the second service, but we will no longer use any other company for our pool repairs/needs. Professional company & experienced staff - not something easily found in this line of business, but they do what they can to help. Highly recommended! read more

Terrible pool opening. Caused damage and would not take responsibility. Blamed intangibles. Over priced for a below par service. Only game in town. Chemicals are double the price of other businesses. Poor workmanship and no communication between sales and field workers; therefore they take no responsibly for blatant errors. They attempt to fix problems, but you get the bill. Office people (your only contact) are disinterested in hearing about any problems. Overall, I'm sure they excel in many areas unrelated to pools. After such poor performance, we found a knowledgable and professional pool service company to fix the problems and provide ongoing maintenance. read more
