After seeing my reviews, IG comment, and my phone messages, they added an additional layer of concrete sealer (it poured the day of install) and re-raked and seeded the lawn area they had ruined. We were looking to hire a contractor to do our backyard and under deck patio. After receiving many estimates we ultimately decided to go with ESPJ because Giovanni, one of the owners, was down to earth and responsive to my inquiries. I got the sense that he has been doing this for quiet some time and I felt confident that he would get the project completed as outlined. I am thrilled I went with his company because the patio came out beautiful. They were also very reasonably priced for the service we received. From the beginning of the project until competition, Giovanni was quick to respond to my phone calls and text messages. The ESPJ crew during excavation and during the pouring of the concrete was respectful of our house and our neighbors properties. They cleaned up after each day (water bottles, food wrappers etc) and swept and power-washed our driveway to clean off the dirt and concrete. We went with a Santa-Fe large pattern- primary color is Silver with a charcoal release agent as the secondary color. The patio still has to dry before they seal it which will bring out the colors even more. If you are looking for any masonry project/patio do not hesitate to contact ESPJ. I hired ESPJ Construction to replace the cement around my pool area. I went with them because Giovanni offered to throw in a free item if I signed up that day. I probably should have requested a few more estimates. What I came to realize is the ESPJ is a construction company. They are not "pool people". They did nothing to try and protect the pool liner or underground pipes/wires. The first issue was when they sliced through an electric cable going to the pool area lights. When I asked about what they were going to do about it, the response was "we are not electricians". Oh, OK... I guess I'll have to rewire the lights myself at my own expense. The second issue is they put some holes in my pool liner so I was losing water every day. I had to hire a diver (at my own expense) to get in water to find and fix the holes. I ended up having to get a new liner (another expense). The last and biggest issue was that they crushed one of the return pipes when pouring the cement. I had all the line pressure tested (at my own expense) prior to ESPJ pouring the cement but they crushed the pipe on the pour. I had to hire a leak detection company twice (at my own expense) to locate the leak and then repair it. ESPJ did come back to cut out a section of the cement where the leak was so I could get access to the crushed pipe. When they returned to pour the cement in the cut out section, they used the wrong color when coloring the cement. Giovanni said he would return to try and change the color but that was 6/16/20. At this point, I do not want them on my property anymore. The cement block with a different color will be a constant reminder for me to always get multiple estimates and to properly vet the company you're going to use for a large project. Giovanni and his crew did a wonderful job on the stamped concrete surrounding our pool. The color, texture, and shape give it a more refined, elegant look than so many I've seen. There was a miscommunication on one item during the process, but Giovanni stepped up and went above and beyond to ensure that we were happy and got exactly what we wanted. I would highly recommend this company. On the technical side, the concrete they poured was almost 6" thick with plenty of expansion joints. They left the surrounding areas in as good a shape as can be expected for this sort of work. They added supports and wire mesh to ensure the patio won't crack. Update.. ESPJ's Operation manager, Mr. Ferrin contacted me shortly after my initial review and expressed his apologies about the situation. He assured me that all would be followed up on ( necessary repairs) in 2 or 3 weeks.That was mid June. A follow up email suggested that I should be more patient. To this day, August 31, 2014, no communication nor follow up has taken place (ip address was confirmed as ESPJ) You would think that after 3 years, some courtesies would be extended. Espj Construction Renovated our pool area and patio. There were issues with cracked/sunken concrete. Geovani and his crew were excellent. They jackhammered the pool deck concrete to find no wire mesh and the pool surrounded by water. Geovani discussed with us getting the water away from the pool and the proper drainage solution, stone and wire mesh needed. He understood our concerns of having to redo all our concrete work that was only 16 years old. He and his staff exceeded our expectations. The stamped concrete is beautiful.
