Unfortunately, I left feeling completely disappointed and more stressed than relaxed. I went on a Monday morning hoping to avoid crowds and have a peaceful day. Things started off on the wrong foot almost immediately. While I was simply checking the size of the uniform, holding it up to see if there was a difference in the width, an employee came over and snatched the second pair out of my hand as if I was trying to take something I shouldn't have. It was not a great way to start when I had barely gotten in the door. Next, the layout was also really confusing. The spa is spread across multiple floors with different sections and stairways, but no one explained where anything was or how to navigate the space. I spent a lot of time in the morning trying to figure out where I was and it felt like I was nosing around someone else's house: uncomfortable. The biggest issue, though, was communication. A woman in the locker room offered my niece and me a deal for two massages for $140 ($70 each) and asked me to send the money through Zelle. I sent $170, including what I thought was a generous tip of over 20%. She arranged the appointment, but I didn't confirm what type of massage I wanted. I foolishly assumed they would ask before starting. We had lunch beforehand - the food was delicious and the portion was huge. Unfortunately, they don't offer to-go boxes, so I needed to reschedule our massages in order to finish my meal. Before even finishing my meal, I went to the massage counter to see if we reschedule our appointments. A younger patron helped translate at the massage desk, but she needed my time slot and took it for herself. She told me the woman would help me reschedule and then left. When I tried to figure out my new time, the interaction felt rushed and dismissive. I was given time without being asked if it worked for me, and when I asked about other options, I was told there were none. I would have cancelled but had already paid, so I took the L. When it was finally time for the massage, we were taken back without anyone asking what type of massage we wanted. I realized my mistake because it was a much more intense massage style and is not my preference. At that point though, after so many rushed and uncomfortable interactions, I honestly didn't feel comfortable advocating for myself to tell them I wanted reflexology. The final issue happened while I was changing before leaving. The same woman who arranged the massage came over and told me I hadn't paid enough tip. I was confused because... it was a tip. She told me I owed another $20 and (to add insult to injury) that I couldn't get my license back from the front desk until I paid. That brought the tip to over 35% on a service I didn't choose and didn't enjoy. I came to King Spa looking for rest and relaxation, but instead left feeling like I had spent my hard-earned money somewhere that never quite felt comfortable and certainly not welcomed.

I didn't really…read morecare that she was wrong because I already planned on renovating the entire property, and I'm very fortunate that I ended up choosing Gus Pools. I did my research and interviewed a few pool builders (there aren't many options in NYC), and I confidently went with Pete & Pat. What stood out immediately was how sincere and honest they were with their advice about my backyard. Initially, I had a lot of bells and whistles in mind--which, honestly, would have meant more money for them. Instead, Gus Pools actually talked me out of several things. They explained that some of them really weren't necessary, but told me that if I insisted, they would still do them. Thankfully, I took their advice because the pool came out amazing, and I ultimately realized I didn't need any of that extra stuff. Once we finalized the plans, the rest was a breeze. Everything was done on schedule, and they were honestly no bother at all. They went straight to the backyard and rarely needed anything from us. One thing I really appreciated was how well they coordinated with Middle Village Construction and Breezy Electric. Bonnie was always happy (and patient!) to take our calls (sometimes there were many ) and give us updates on the project. To be transparent, Gus Pools recommended Middle Village Construction, and their quote for the pavers was comparable to the other contractors I spoke with, so I went with their recommendation. It ended up being a great decision because everyone was able to coordinate seamlessly. I also used my own electrician, Breezy Electric, and Gus Pools were just as professional when he had questions about the pool construction, lighting, and grounding. That kind of communication between contractors made the entire project so much easier. All in all, if you're contemplating making a major investment in a pool, just go with these guys. You won't be disappointed. And now, two years later, I can say that the service has been just as good. They continue to service my pool, including opening and closing it, and they've helped with any issues or mishaps along the way. They keep records of your warranties, equipment, hardware, etc., which makes things much easier down the road. At one point, I had an issue with one of the pumps and Bonnie promptly set up service. Pat came by and fixed it at no charge. That says a lot about the kind of company they are. For anyone complaining that they don't service pools they didn't build, take it from someone who had more than 10 different people come out to look at and potentially renovate my old pool. It's difficult to take over someone else's build, know exactly how everything was installed, and then be expected to stand behind a warranty. I completely understand why they operate the way they do. Two years later, I'm still extremely happy with my decision to go with Gus Pools. Highly recommended.

Things started well when he was asked to help us secure a new hot tub last November. We paid…read moreupfront for the hot tub. Then he asked us to pay the annual contract around Christmas 2025. We were reluctant but did it in light of the holiday season. We were told the hot tub would come multiple times. Sometimes it was valid (e.g., winter weather), others it wasn't. We were upfront about the location challenges, timing, coordination contacts. Long story short, after taking $11K from us, we never heard from him again around June. The hot tub never materialized. This is clearly a lesson in "if it's too good to be true then it's not". At first, we were concerned about him as a person and hoped everything was ok with him. Then after multiple outreaches from us and the person who referred him to us receiving no responses, we concluded that he was likely lying to us the whole time. The person who referred him to us also stopped receiving services as I was told Erik stopped answering him as well. I guess Erik lost multiple customers. To be fair, when we got a hold of him (infrequently between Nov '25 - Jun '26), he's a nice man and quite knowledgeable about hot tubs. However, there's no integrity in business dealing as he just stopped answering phone calls and texts. He asked for chances to make things right, and we provided chances. If he can't do something, just be upfront and honest! We filed a chargeback with our bank in hopes to recover the funds. We will be filing a police report for criminal fraud as it's over $10K and I will share it here so everyone can see all the texts, the invoices paid, and you can judge for yourself whether this is a trustworthy business or not.

Oh sure, on the busiest day of the week (Sat.) when the place is flooded with people like me who need help and don't know what they're doing you might wait a while for help. But, when that person comes, he will spend as much time as it takes to get you what you need and to be sure you know how to use it. This is pure, solid, excellent customer service at its best and it's well worth the wait. There have been times when I've asked "Do I need this?" and been told "You don't have to spend so much let me show you a better idea." What they sell are quality items - not the junk you'll get elsewhere that won't last. If you're a lady as am I, no condescending attitudes ever which truly counts for a lot. And they were equally patient, kind and attentive with my unskilled husband. When I owned a home Benjamin Brothers taught me how to take care of it. As a real estate agent they've been invaluable in helping me to help my clients. Maybe this is a generation gap since I'm no longer young but I'd rather wait the 5 or 6 minutes on a busy day to have someone who's an expert make sure I've got the right item and then explain what to do with that thing.
