I went for an oil change, and it was great to start. They offered to apply coupons I might have and assured quick service! However, as I expected, I was given a quote for new tires for my vehicle, which I knew I needed. The standard tires for my vehicle are a higher price, but when I was given the quote, I was also told there was no warranty on the tires that it was declined at original service back in 2022. So, I contacted the other location I originally went to who confirmed I did have a warranty, but it was a month expired, and proceeded to quote me $200 less for the same service! I know that's the way car service works. I just didn't appreciate the inaccuracy. As well as the treatment I received when I called back to inform them of the error and that I could get a better deal somewhere else, I was met with "OK "and hung up on. I also did not receive a phone call when my car was done. Hoping for improvement! read more

BEWARE! I had a terrible experience at Evans Tires on Magnolia in El Cajon this morning. I booked an appointment and received a confirmed quote for four Bridgestone tires. When I showed up early for my appointment, I was told they had sold my tires the day before -- yet they still tried to upsell me on different Goodyear tires at $175 more than the price they originally quoted. They did not honor the quote or the appointment, and the explanation I got was that they "don't see online appointments until the day of," which makes zero sense since they clearly had my quote on file before I booked. Instead of making it right, they tried to strong-arm me into paying more or downgrading to lower-quality tires. It felt like a predatory tactic and a clear sign of poor management and customer service. I called their customer service line for assistance, and they just transferred me back to the front desk with no help, no accountability, and no solution. I called again and was told a manager could call me 48 hours. I've decided to take my business to Costco instead -- at least they honor their appointments and pricing. For future customers: beware. This shop does not stand behind their quotes and will try to take advantage of new customers. read more

I received a call from the marketing Manager. He was very apologetic. He took the time to research my concerns and my problem, and figured out why we hadn't received our refund. He stated that whoever processed the refund may not have clicked a box. He verified that the refund was never issued as to have them check the cash audit for the day and it was over the exact amount of our refund. This person heard all my concerns and stated that he understood my frustration and will do his best to speak to the employees and apologized for all the incidents we had. After speaking with him we decided, we are still hesitant and skeptical, but we will give them a try again in the future. We appreciate being heard and for him acknowledging and taking responsibility for the problems we had. read more

I recently purchased a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire. I called Evans tire to get a quote on tires. I spoke to Richie the store manager. He ordered the tires for me in the arrived quickly. When I brought the car in Eric helped me and he was amazing. I know my way around cars. I'm retired from over 45 years in auto sales and management. I asked Eric to check out my car. He told me that it needed a few things to make it completely safe and roadworthy. I left the car there overnight and it would be ready the next day. I just live a few minutes away and whenever I drop my car off somewhere, I have to take a Lyft for,$10-$20. I asked Eric if he could take me home. He said no problem. When the car was ready, he came and picked me up. With inflation, parts and labor have become very expensive and I was expecting a huge bill. Richie and Eric told me don't worry about it that they would apply all the coupons offered to save me money. He saved me $800. My out of pocket was only $1500. I also needed a few little adjustments to be made on the car and Eric personally did them for me. It didn't take very long, but it meant a lot to me because I couldn't do it by myself. In this day and age it seems like big corporations don't go out of their way for you any longer. Evan's Tire is the complete opposite. My husband took our infinity for an oil change. He made the appointment on phone and was told it would take 45 mins. He took the car at the appointed time and found his car still not attended to 90 minutes later. When he asked about the delay the attendant told him 'delays happen not a big deal'. When my husband told them he'd take his car back if they couldn't attend to it in a timely manner they were rude and dismissive. They couldn't care less about what he did or said or whether he posted a bad review. Not the kinda place you want to take your car for any service. I arrived for a flat repair and balancing rotation. I left discount tire because they didn't put my spare away. I asked the gentleman if you can put my spare away if possible and he said yes. I arrive to pick up my truck. I noticed they didn't put the spare away. The two managers on the inside, went out there and did it because the technician said it didn't fit the factory spare. after getting home I noticed the flat repair was on the same side called them back to let them know. I didn't receive a rotation and got some lame excuse. I probably wouldn't even yelped if they would have just said the tire boy was lazy and didn't do his job instead of lying to my face. The unfortunate part is that I've purchased, unlimited or lifetime balance, and alignment.‍ I'll find another Evans and complain to a Distric manager. This kid is going to end up hurting some one. I got four tires and at that time they told me I needed work on the front end and gave me an estimate for exactly $4,000. I had a mechanic look at the car the following day and he informed me the only thing wrong with the front end was the rubber boots on the struts had some cracks. Nowhere near $4,000 worth of work. Reluctantly I returned to have them patch one of the tires which had gotten a nail in it. I was told they could not patch the tire, which I'm sure was BS, they said I would need to replace it. This was $61 under the insurance. They told me they could have it ready in 45 minutes, to leave it there and they would call me. 2 hours later I had not heard anything so I called them to see what was going on and was informed they had forgotten about it. I was then told to come down in 30 minutes and they would have it ready to put on the car. When I arrive, the tire had not been mounted on the wheel. After waiting an additional 45 minutes they pull the car out of the garage and I notice ITS THE WRONG TIRE, Eddie tells me "it's the same type, but an older version, and if I want one that matches, I will need to return in 2 days because they don't have one in stock". Two days later I returned and 45 minutes later the correct tire is installed. A one-star review is generous but there are no lower options. First they try to rip me off for front end work that is unnecessary, then they ripped me off for a new tire which could have easily been patched, then they try to pass off an old 2024 tire as a new 2025 tire. I normally go to Evan's to buy my tires. After my last tire rotation, I'm feeling less than pleased. I got email and text notifications of a report on my car. I went in to pick it up and the attendant told me I needed to replace the control arms on my Prius. I told him I ALREADY changed the control arms, so he asked me when. I told him certainly not long enough that I'd need to do it again. Then he tells me they need replacing based on the car's mileage. I said, "So you're telling me no one actually puts eyes on the car to verify??!!" I replaced the control arms based on their recommendation a year ago. Went here for the first time .. had to get an alignment for my vehicle , service was completed as I expected. Value of the 3 year plan for the alignment is a good deal. The value of service is decent . Staff was friendly . I did hear one guy consistently trying to get people to have their fluids changed and some of the reasoning was a bit off . Call me the idiot for choosing a tire center to do my oil change. Can you guess what happened!!! Yep you're right!!! Charged me $150 bucks and then they used an IMPACT WRENCH TO TIGHTEN MY OIL DRAIN PLUG. . I don't have 100 percent proof but that's exactly what they bank on . I learned the hard way to use a hidden camera when having auto repair done . So what kind of response do I get when I bring this up to posing mechanic . I just wanted a new tire mounted on a wheel off my Canam trike, (a standard 15 inch wheel). I waited 20 minutes for the only person at the front counter to get off the phone. Walked out to my car to show him what I wanted and when he saw the new tire that I wanted mounted he told me that he couldn't help me since I apparently didn't buy the tire from Evans. I had no problem with paying for the tire mounting. He just refused to do business with me. I took my business to Discount tire and with no problem they mounted the new tire for $12.00 dollars. I did not buy the tire from them either. I went to Evans first since the shop is less than a half mile from my home. We have bought complete sets of tires for our PT Cruiser from this Evans location on Jamacha Road in El Cajon but that didn't matter. Their arbitrary rules came first. HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!!!!DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A TORQUE WRENCH WITH A MONITOR AND ALL YOUR EVANS TIRE RECEIPTS!!!!!! So a couple months ago, I brought my car in for a normal oil change ,tire rotation, and alignment And I'm a normal customer. I have all my warranties and all my tires are well kept up with. I come in about once every two months....as I'm trying to get an oil change and an alignment the man tells me that I no longer have a warranty, which is impossible because the tires aren't even two years old and I have a five-year warranty, but whatever I don't argue and I pay up. Well, I go home and sure enough. I checked my receipts and I have a five-year warranty. So I go back a couple days later to show my receipts and I explained like " hey I have a warranty you guys overcharged me. "The manager proceeded to tell me that I have to wait a couple weeks because I use the Evans credit card and it's gonna take a couple weeks or a couple billing cycles for them to reimburse the credit card. Well, they never reimbursed the credit card and I ended up getting charged Interest!! So I go back and I explained how I never was reimbursed !!!so I ask how are we gonna go about this? The shop manager proceeded to tell me hey let's do store credit and as someone who's been coming here for almost 5 years I agreed to it . So we went forward with the store credit and then all of a sudden I get a flat tire within the coming weeks. But hey I'm prepared for this I have a 2 ton jack a cross and a full spare . Wrong . The Lugnuts were on way too tight I stripped the bolts without even taking off the tire I had to go to a mom and pop store down the street to get the lug nuts off and they had to use hammer to bang on the bolts. I called the new manager as of January 2025 and I told him hey I had to drive on this tire to a mom and pop store because I couldn't get the lug nuts off could you guys give me a new tire . He proceeded to tell me hey man we already gave you two free oil changes????? somehow a $300 warranty amounts to two oil changes? He ended the call with "I don't know what to tell you we set everything to factory specification"Gave me no alternative no solution, nothing just ended the call and said sorry we already gave you 2 "free" oil changes As if they gave me a break already. he never called me back about my tire so apparently a tire is worth more than a loyal Customer but whatever guys. Avoid this place. It's a Shame as I used to support them, but it's gone completely downhill and crooked. Took car in to figure out why my check engine light had come on. Was told that it was possible it would be free if not much, only to show up with a demand for a $190 diagnostic fee and a $1200 quote for work which is way out of wack with the industry. I came for a simple oil change and they removed my tires, insisted I needed multiple replacements and alignment, they said my back brake pads were near worn out, vs my front pads. If anyone has more than 100 iq you will know the front brake pads wear much faster than the back ones. Look this up online if you don't believe me.They tried to charge me for the rotors and brake pads, maybe they don't know you can turn the rotors and keep using until they become worn down. I declined these extra "insisted repairs." I drove back home and did research with my grandfather who has miles of experience with cars, we reviewed said parts on my car and searched parts online. On Monday, October 7, my 2004 Tundra 2WD made a strange noise driving to work and felt like a tire was skipping or my brakes were locking up. I got to Evans right as they opened, they had my truck inside and all the wheels off for an inspection. Nearly 3 hours later I was told my front wheel bearing was seizing and coming out of the hub, that the hub and bearing needed to be replaced, as well as all my brakes. Well I was fine with that, I could hear the bearing making noise and my brakes were in poor condition. After having to open another line of credit with them to pay the $3k repair bill, I drove my truck home and right away it didn't feel right, despite reassurances from the manager that all was well. It felt like it was laboring to move. On Thursday, October 10, as I pulled into my parking lot, I tried to back into my spot as usual, and my truck would not reverse, and would barely move forward. I had my roadside assistance tow it back to the shop, where they later said my transmission had gone bad. There is no way they could have driven this vehicle and not noticed something wasn't right. So not only am I on the hook for a crippling $3k repair bill for nothing, on 2 Evans cards with a ridiculous interest rate, now I have a 2 ton paperweight instead of an operational vehicle. There was no apology, no follow up after I had the truck towed back from their shop, no offer to try to make things right. I have no choice but to dispute the charges for this gross misdiagnoses and useless repairs, as well as filing complaints with the BBB and BAR. I hate to do it because Mark has exceptional customer service, I can't fault him for anything, but at this point, my back is against the wall. read more
