I first brought the boots to the Grand Central location and was turned away because apparently only 55th Street (the least accessible NYC location for me) does calf alterations. My boots were 1-1.5" too wide in the calves as I have very narrow legs, and while I was clear that I didn't want them to be tight, I did want them to look more fitted and neater around my legs. I went to 55th Street and intentionally had the boots fitted over jeans, repeatedly telling the store employee that he was cutting off my circulation and needed to loosen the boots. Rather than listen to me and do what I asked, he told me that they could stretch them if they turned out too small. I very adamantly said no, I will not compromise the integrity of the leather by stretching them nor will I agree to have the boots made too small so that additional work will be required. I finally asked him to provide the final measurement and was told it was 13". The boots were originally 14.5" for reference. The boots were ready in just over a week, which already had me concerned since I hadn't requested a rush job. Upon receiving them, I could immediately see that they were two different sizes. The left boot is 12.5" and the right boot is just barely 12.25". They are nearly impossible to zip, the seams were done VERY poorly and not straight, and most importantly, they do not fit without severe pain. I cannot walk in them. I literally can't even move my right ankle. And that's on my bare legs without jeans. I immediately contacted Leather Spa and received a response from Vincent who said it's very common for boots with this type of repair to require additional treatment and that I should bring them back for stretching. Did I not already have this conversation BEFORE I paid $300+ to ruin $2k+ boots??? Vincent insists they are not ruined even after I sent photos showing that they very much are. Further, they didn't even send them back to me nicely - they threw shreds of cut leather pieces inside one of the boots and just sent them off that way as further evidence of the total rush job. I used to frequent Leather Spa 55th and my patronage fell off years ago after they did something very similar to a pair of $300 boots. I was very clear during my visit this time that that could not happen again with my brand new Louboutin boots that were significantly more expensive. Had the employee just told me on the spot that they were going to cut my boots too small and require stretching thereafter, I would've taken the boots, walked out and gotten them repaired elsewhere. Literally the only reason I returned to Leather Spa is because Christian Louboutin recommends them. Never again.

I'd hoped that Moulded Shoe would become a regular source of shoes for me, but not only won't I ever go back but I feel that it's my duty to warn others to avoid it. Before going there, I looked at the website to identify shoes that could work. After explaining my issues, I asked the salesman for a specific shoe. It fit well in the front, but you could see the lining on the inside of the heel because it was too big. I asked the salesman - the shorter of the 2 men working there - what could be done and he said, "Nothing." I thought it strange to work in a store like that and not know how to make shoes fit better. I took a photo of the box to make sure that I knew the shoe and the size so that I could ask my cobbler what could be done. The salesman then said he had other ideas and he brought a few pairs of shoes by a different company, one I hadn't identified since their shoes were obviously too narrow for me. To show my good attitude, I tried them on. I couldn't even get my foot into one pair, but after trying each pair, the salesman announced, "Too big!" He then suggested shoes with a strap, and although I told him that only shoes I could tie using heel lock lacing would hold my foot back, I tried on a couple he suggested, which did not work. I then asked for an athletic shoe that I had seen online and he brought it to me, but it was too long. I figured that the shoe ran big and asked to try the shoe in a half size smaller. My salesman was also helping a man, so I waited patiently. After a fairly long time, the salesman came back to me and said that he didn't have the smaller size. Since he didn't say that he could order it, I took a photo of the box in case I could find it online. He then told me he wouldn't help me, that I wasn't going to buy anything and that he had offered many suggestions and I didn't accept any of them. He was so nasty that I left the store, but waited outside for my husband to meet me. After some time, the salesman motioned for me to come back and told me that he had the smaller size, admitting he had lied. I don't know if he realized that he had acted inappropriately or if the man he was helping told him that his actions were uncalled for, but I refused to come back because I'm not buying shoes from someone who is not only rude, but doesn't know much about shoes.

Patricia is very attentive, communicative, and caring, all wrapped up with extensive experience. The store itself has great staff, the same prices you would get elsewhere in other physical or online stores, and, at times, a limited selection( which is why I could only rate it a 4 star). My wife shops here as well for her nurses shoes for wearing at work in the Operating Room. The service from staff like Patricia is the reason I shop here!! Keep up the great work!!

Second, big mistake. My last mistake was not checking my receipt after they handed it to me. I only looked at it the night before picking up the orthotics and was very unsettled and hardy slept that night. Because it said my balance was 125$, not having credited me with the second hundred but only the initial 100$. Instead of 225$, 325$ was the amount I ended up having to pay. But, hey, I assumed I was dealing with (mostly) honest people. Stay away from this store. Instead, find a good honest podiatrist, and if you need your orthotics refurbished, the HANGER CLINIC at 210 e 86th does that service and does a superior job. (Except you need a prescription, which is why I went to Eneslow.)

Charlie was the one helping me, but everyone else seemed just as knowledgeable and understanding of specific needs/preferences. They really did seem to focus on helping me find the right shoes for me rather than selling me shoes and insoles. They helped me as I tried on different shoe sizes and different insoles, and I got the impression that it was fine if I didn't find a pair that I liked. Their foot scans were done more thoroughly too. I didn't actually end up buying anything from the store because they didn't have the model or color I liked, but I definitely will be returning and recommending this place to others.

The first time I wore the shoes, the heel broke after less than five minutes, and I ended up barefoot in the middle of the street. Looking at the shoe afterward, it was clear he had used nails that were smaller than the original ones, so it's not surprising the repair failed almost immediately. For the price I paid, I expected the shoes to last much longer than a five-minute walk. Also, don't rely on the posted business hours. I had some free time and I decided to get coffee and window shop around Bleecker st. I took a peek inside and found casual and yet sophisticated clothing. Not too baggy and not that slim fit cut that no one could possibly wear. What impressed me mostly was the quality and feel of the clothing. From the buttons to the stitching, it's just a well made product. Over the years, I have purchased a beautiful fall jacket, a functional cardigan sweater and the most comfortable flannels. Also, I love their sweatshirts! Not being too baggy, I like that I can layer the look without being too bulky. I signed up for their email notifications, they have the best sales! Both online as well as in the store, typically it's a 35% discount. What brings me to Bleecker st, I ordered Japanese Selvedge Jeans at an incredible price. They came to my home, I tried them on and loved the feel of the material. The back pockets looked off, it wasn't the right fit. I called the customer service number and was told either I can send the jeans back with a prepaid shipping label or simply return them to the store. Easy Peasy! The Grayers founder has an interesting background. He worked at Ralph Lauren for over 10 years and decided to make his own line inspired by European and Japanese vintage clothing. The final result is handsome and classic garments using unique fabrics. Total fan. If you can't get to Bleecker St, you can shop online. Cheers!
