Came here for breakfast and to get a little morning work done. I ordered a dirty Bhakti chai that sounded delicious, but didn't meet my expectations. The breakfast sandwich was good, but nothing spectacular. Staff was very friendly, so no complaints there. My biggest issue - and the reason I will not return in this COVID era - was that half of the tables were dirty and the booths seemed like they didn't regularly get wiped down. I came here 5 minutes after they opened, and I was the only one sitting down, so I can only assume the mess was from the day before... did not instill confidence in cleanliness. Bummer. read more

My coworker and I loved this little gem! Not only are the salad portions huge, but the salad options themselves were great as well. My first day here I got a salad with smoked salmon, and this was super tasty with the parsley vinaigrette. We also had the hummus to share, and the pita bread was delicious and unique. The second day we came for lunch, I ordered the roasted cauliflower pita bowl as a salad- how cool! It was also super delicious, and both the carrot dressing and tahini dressing were tasty. We had to get the hummus and pita again with our lunch because it was so addicting. Great find in this area of Denver. read more

Let me start with this, I cannot stand the excessive amount of temporary social trends that come up in today's world. There is one in particular that I have never respected: Avocado Toast. I mean come on people this is bread and avocado. HOWEVER, today I caved to the trends of today and bought the $6.50 Avocado Toast and was BLOWN AWAY! It is insanely delicious, ripe with vibrant flavors, cheap, and well worth the pretense. For a random cafe in North Denver's industrial district, this place is dope. So when I went with a friend to have his Prius serviced at the dealer, I was excited to see the Udi's cafe and bakery nearby. While we waited for the car, we enjoyed breakfast sandwiches on Udi's excellent bread. There was good coffee and free wifi. There's not a lot of cozy ambience, since you're surrounded by bustling bakers preparing tons of fresh bread. But it was cool to watch them at work. So I've actually never been to the actual restaurant itself, but I'm sitting here right now eating one of their vegan prepared meals on my break! I could not be happier with the Basil Cilantro and Almond Pesto Fettuccine they supply at Natural Grocers!!!!! I'm in Love! The Almond pesto is so perfect and the basil isn't overbearing like it can be in some pasta dishes. The little grape tomatoes were a perfect addition! They even put them to the side if you want to microwave the dish and keep the tomatoes cold. That way you dont have to dig them out! Overall satisfaction is ten stars! We hit this spot before heading back to Omaha last Monday. My reason for writing this review is mainly because of the staff! One man was working the front, making coffees, taking orders, and answering the phone simultaneously (he deserves a raise!) Orders were still coming up in a timely manner, even with the lunch rush. When things got slightly behind, a woman from the kitchen began assisting in getting orders to the right people. Very happy with the food/coffee we ordered, but beyond thrilled with the individuals working there. Show love to service industry workers!! They deserve it. read more

My first time here got a Cuban press was little bummed. I love Cuban sandwiches,but it really didn't taste like a Cuban . I'll start by saying that I don't like to leave a negative review unless I've given a business the opportunity to make something right and they don't. I went in for lunch yesterday with my dad. I ordered the cauliflower pita and he ordered the french dip. I immediately noticed when my food was brought that there was a ton of cilantro, which I simply cannot eat and there was too much to pick out. The menu didn't say anything about cilantro. My dad's sandwich had mayo on it, which he is really picky about and didn't see on the menu. I brought the food back up and explained that mayo and cilantro weren't listed. The employee brought my dad's sandwich back a minute later and explained that the menu says "aioli", so they wouldn't remake it. I asked if he could at least have a new top piece of bread to replace the one he wouldn't eat and we were denied. He ate as much as he could with a knife and fork, but the meat was 1/2 fat and he slaughtered his food trying to find the edible parts. My sandwich was returned to me without the cilantro, which I was grateful for. The whole thing was swimming in mayo or some other sauce and had a strong curry flavor (also not listed on the menu) but I like curry so I didn't care. Until I bit into a solid clump of it in the middle of the sandwich and about choked. I also ended up kind of mangling my food in an attempt to avoid the huge pockets of curry everywhere. The very least they could have done is give my dad a new top piece of bread or simply replace his sandwich rather than essentially say he was out of luck because he didn't see the word aioli. He's old and didn't see it, but also didn't know what it was. I don't think a half a piece of bread would affect the bottom line of a bakery that specialized in bread. Needless to say, I won't be returning as this is the second bad experience I've had at this location. read more

I don't like to go on negative rants, so I'll keep this short and sweet. I went to Udi's cafe because I was in Colorado visiting my mother, and I have Celiacs (many of you who follow me on Yelp know I always talk about how to eat out gluten-free). I was pretty excited to have some delicious food. Short story is that when I ordered my sandwich, I asked if it was gluten free. I was told that is was. I double checked again to make sure, and I was assured it was gluten-free a second time. I ate half of the sandwich and had a sneaking suspicion that it was glutenous. I brought the sandwich back up to the counter and it was revealed that it was *SPOILER ALERT* WHEAT BREAD!!! WHAT?!?! There was no real apology. I was made to feel awkward by the employees and the manager to wait to get my refund. They didn't seem to understand why I even would make an issue of it. I feel like they totally dropped the ball and did nothing of real substance to correct the error. Mistakes can happen, and employees can be rude and non-sympathetic, but for an establishment that specializes in gluten free food, this is totally unacceptable. I spent the rest of my vacation sick and had to go to the doctor when I returned home for the damage this food had done to me. I would encourage you to seek other options outside of this place. I love Etai's. There is not another place to have a great, cheap, healthy salad on this side of town. I go to Etai's for lunch a few times a week (horrible, I know), and my order has never been incorrect and I have always only had great service here. My faves are the small Southwest salad, their homemade bread, iced coffees, and their hummus. Also, there catering is super straight-forward and dependable. I recommend that, too. read more

i am sorely disappointed after visiting this cafe. I made a visit to colorado and naturally, as being gluten intolerant, i could not wait! This was finally going to be my chance to eat at udi's! My brother and i each ordered a sandwich; both were good. his side dish was quinoa which he said was not very good. My side dish was a salad and i liked it fine. we were still hungry so we decided to order a third sandwich to split (gluten free bread is tiny, so the sandwiches are tiny too.) While placing my order, I asked "this is gluten free, right?" she said "yes". The meal was brought to us and we took a few bites, until i realized the bread tasted like it had wheat in it. i brought it back to the counter to verify and and they said "o yeah thats got gluten..." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! She asked if I wanted a new one and i declined, asking for my money back instead. we waited 10 minutes for a grumpy manager to nearly toss a refund receipt at us, without saying a word. WHY WOULD I WANT ANOTHER ONE?!?!? being gluten intolerant means i have to check and recheck with servers about ingredients. going to a gluten free cafe, i expected to be well taken care of and not to worry as much as i do at a normal place if there really is gluten in the salad dressing. im lucky enough my intolerance is not so severe to debilitate me. i cant believe the staff acted so annoyed and unapologetic, when in fact i could have been someone with an extreme allergy. this was beyond careless. so disappointed.... read more

I adore Udi's for one reason in particular. My boyfriend has gluten-intolerance and Udi's remains the only place that turns out edible gluten-free loaves that actually tastes like regular bread, instead of cardboard or styrofoam. We generally buy their bread from an outside retailer. Their food I know is great because my former employer routinely chose Udi's for catered work lunches. Their salads are tasty and large. Their breads are dense and moist and Udi's offers some great sandwich options as well. However, the Udi's direct cafe was a little disappointing. As mentioned they sell gluten-free bread. So for an extra dollar they use said gluten-free bread for their sandwiches, however, they could not let us know if the sauces used for the sandwiches were gluten-free. So essentially my boyfriend had to eat a dry sandwich. As an included side he tried to order a salad but they also couldn't identify if any of their dressings were gluten-free either. But they didn't reduce the price of his meal, so he paid full price for a dry sandwich without a side. That said, I don't expect all restaurants to include gluten-free options at command. But Udi's sells many gluten free baked goods and offers the sandwiches made with gluten free bread so they are marketing to people avoiding gluten. It's not a stretch to ask that they at least know of which sauces or sides if any are also gluten-free to aid the consumers they are already targeting. Also, I ordered a salad and politely and specifically asked for the dressing on the side. This was a big deal to me only because of a diet I had begun and I mentioned it twice. My salad was slathered with dressing anyway. I wasn't annoyed enough to send it back because the salad was quite good. But it wasn't what I ordered. Personally, I think Udi's is great for catering and their gluten-free bread is the best but I doubt I'll head back to the cafe and prefer to mooch of work luncheons and score the dough as Vitamin Cottage. read more

I came here for lunch the other day. I kept seeing Udi's catering trucks around Denver, so I figured I would come here to try it out and mix it up. Hummus was a standout this experience. This was some of the best hummus I had in Denver. Great quality and good bread on the side. For sandwich, I ordered a Jalepeno Cheddar Chicken sandwich. Honestly, the best part about the sandwich was the bread - gave the sandwich a nice kick. The rest of the sandwich was pretty good, you can tell the ingredients are good quality and also fresh. However, the sandwich was very forgettable in my opinion. That isn't too say Udi's isnt good. Their sandwich menu is elaborate with many good combinations. I have a tendancy to order the wrong thing, so maybe this was evidence of that. The downside is price. $10+ dollars for one person? A little high for what you get. read more

I'm hesitant to review this particular location of Udi's, because I feel like it's my little hidden gem of a sandwich shop. I know everybody is familiar with Udi's (especially if you've worked downtown and shopped at any Russel's), but this place is grrreat. I always loved their to-go items, but eating them in this little warehouse of a bakery is so much fun. It's not a fancy place, but you get to watch fresh bread baking in their big rotating oven (I have no idea how this works), and it smells delightful in here. I don't give 5 stars simply because A) it's pricey and B) it's only open Mon-Fri, so I get sad on the weekends. read more

I recognized the logo, but could not figure out why - ah ha! It was formerly Udi's. Also, I didn't even know that this location existed (only to find out later it's the original location). Anyway, I ordered a lunch portion of the Cobb Salad. It was the perfect size and tasted delicious. A failure on my part, I did not read the small print, the salads come already tossed in the dressing, so if you're watching calories be sure to get it on the side. Otherwise, it was perfect. As someone who works in the area, I can attest to the serious lake of lunch places around here. I mean practically nothing. And something reasonably healthy? Don't even think about it. That's why Etai's is so popular here (don't worry guys, it's still Udi's, just a different name). They have pretty fresh ingredients and make up some pretty yummy sandwiches and salads. That being said, I've never really had anything here that truly knocked my socks off. I've also never had anything that I really hated, so take that for what it's worth. It's a reasonably quick lunch - the line is always long but it moves pretty quickly. They're good at managing the crowds and the places is big enough that there is almost always somewhere to sit in their cafeteria-style dining area. I think the real hidden secret here is the pastries - oh the pastries! They have some incredible sweet bun thing in the morning that will make your work week. read more
