This is my third visit to Bluebird Cafe. Warm greeting from hostess, and bonus--she did NOT ask the diminishing "JUST one?" question so ubiquitously heard by solo parties. Seated in a booth. Promptly approached by server Harumy, quickly provided with a hot carafe of coffee and condiments. The ambiance is clean, cheerful, and inviting. There is music but it isn't too loud. I ordered the mini-monkey bread (pictured), essentially a biscuit dappled with cinnamon sugar streusel. I didn't love it; I thought it tasted too salty. Still, I finished it so it couldn't have been that bad! I ordered the Breakfast Quesadilla (eggs, chiles, cheese, onions, drizzled with avocado cream and served with red salsa), which was very good. Harumy checked on me, and brought the check promptly. You pay at the counter, not directly to the server. I would have given 4.5 stars but Yelp doesn't enable this, so I rounded up to 5 stars. Check in was a breeze. The waiting room had very loud music. We were seated after 20 minutes. Our waitress was friendly and we placed our drink and food order together about 5 minutes after being seated. Then we were forgotten. Our waters did not arrive. I had to ask the hostess to ask our waitress to bring our drinks because we never saw our waitress again after placing our order. She brought the waters and 1 minute later our food arrived lukewarm. The potatoes were not cooked. We were never checked on again. Then the check came, but the extra bacon I ordered "to go" had not arrived. So she went to get that. We paid at the front with the hostess. It was an extra $5 for 2 pieces of bacon. $2.50 per slice. Is that inflation or price gouging? This is the first time in my life I have never left a tip. I'm usually a really good tipper. And I feel bad about it, but I also want to be taken care of in order to give a tip for good service. This was not good service and the food was mediocre. My friend and I struggled finding a breakfast place that wasn't more than a 30 minute wait on a Saturday morning, but the we found Bluebird! Yes there was a wait, but it was worth it. Not only was the ambiance cozy, but it also had a warmth to it. We had a great spot next to the window and had the sunlight coming in which was great. Now to the food, it was SO good. Sitting atop a highpoint in Thornton, this cafe has it all! It has an outside seating area with an incredible view of Denver and beyond! It has a large, bright, clean, and comfortable dining room. It has a bountiful menu with tons to choose from. It has delicious food. And most impressively, it has an awesome team that is warm and welcoming. Our server, Rumy was fantastic! I came here for brunch and overall had a good experience. The restaurant was busy and lively, full of families, which made for a fun brunch atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, though she did forget my drink at first. She quickly brought it once I reminded her. The food came out fast, which I really appreciated given how busy it was. I had the Cobb salad with a sandwich and a side of green chili. Everything was tasty, although the green chili had a hardened clump of cheese in it, which I had to scoop out. The grits were creamy and comforting, and the potatoes were cooked just right with crispy on the outside and soft inside. My only disappointment was the vanilla iced coffee since it was overly sweet, and I could barely taste the coffee itself. I also tried the green apple kale juice and it was my favorite! I love coming to this restaurant, typically i go once every two months. This time we brought our dog along and they did a great job of accommodating us! We sat outside on there patio area. Only thing i wish is that they had umbrellas because it's been hot lately. They also brought out a dog bowl with water, to keep our pup hydrated. I wish i remembered our waitresses name because she did a great job serving, amazing attitude, attentive, and looked presentable. Food was amazing everything came out quickly and tasted fantastic. We also ordered the fresh squeezed juice which were phenomenal as well. If you're looking for a cute breakfast spot with a healthy menu, and fresh food this is for you! Came in Sunday and the wait was pretty rough, it was packed as we expected. When we were seated, service was good but a little slow since they were slammed. Our dishes were tasty but the one thing that was frustrating was that we ordered the bottomless beverage for coffee, specifically the hazelnut coffee and the server said that since we got the iced one it didn't qualify as bottomless. Nowhere on the menu did it say that the bottomless hazelnut coffee had to be hot and not iced to qualify so sadly 3 instead of 4 stars here. I really wanted to like this place because of the great yelp reviews. I put my name on the wait list for 2 around noon on Saturday. They're very busy so it took us about 25 mins to get a seat which is expected considering how busy they were. Our waiter was good. We ordered the sample bacon that came with soracha, maple and beer but they all tasted the same? Plus it wasn't very crispy which we both like it crispy. What a great find! We were in search for a great breakfast spot and landed here. The food was amazing! We had the Cambridge Skillet and the Santa Fe Huevos. Considering how crowded it was with a wait out the door, I am shocked at how fast we were seated and how quick the service was. Notable, the online menu doesn't reflect how incredibly gluten friendly this place is. For any of my fellow celiac friends out there, this place is worth checking out for sure. I can't believe how far down this place has gone, it used to be so good, we went a couple times a month, I went with my mom today and the menu has changed so much, and not for the better, higher prices and fewer selections. I got the breakfast sandwich, bacon was cooked but barely, asked for the potatoes to be cooked for they were actually brown, had to send them back (surprise!) When they came back they were half better. My mom got the huevos rancheros, I have never seen that dish served that way, they took a flour tortilla, spread (looked like) canned refried beans and put scrambled eggs on it, with a 1/4 cup, maybe, of green chili. $35 for that, we will never go back. read more

It has been hard to find breakfast and lunch items in my area, especially places that aren't super heavy. I had nothing at home and needed a quick lunch, so I got a to go order from Bluebird. I really wanted soup and salad that wasn't from a mega chain restaurant, and Bluebird was the perfect spot. I ordered the Greek salad and soup of the day. The Greek salad was large, which was great for leftovers (and the ingredients stayed fresh on the container in the fridge for the next day). Wow! We came here for brunch and this place did not disappoint! Large portions of great tasting food, any place with a bacon flight has my heart! The cinnamon roll was HUGE and tasted amazing, and actually not too sweet to eat the whole thing. Iced coffee flight was wonderful as well! I would definitely recommend this restaurant - good service, great food, cute blue bird themed vibe. Oh and there were a lot of people waiting when we arrived but the wait was only maybe 15-20 minutes on a Saturday morning at 11:00am. I would absolutely be here every weekend if I lived locally. Super busy on a Saturday and for good reason -- the food was *really good.* Hot, fresh tasting, good flavor, and came out quick! We ordered the Bacon Avocado Scramble, Breakfast Tacos (the special), and a side of French Toast. The scramble was really good, I loved it, and the portion was a good size as well. Two days later and my husband is STILL talking about his breakfast tacos and telling everyone how amazing they were. The ranch breakfast potatoes were so yummy too! The French Toast was very average -- it was good, but both meals we ordered were way better than the French Toast. There were a lot of different things I wanted to try and that we were deciding between, and I wish I was local so I could visit regularly and try more of their menu items! Our sever was super friendly. All the other servers we observed were also very friendly with their tables and always had a smile despite being really busy. The one down side of this place is it was SO loud. It was hard to hear my husband who was across the table. Inside is basic decor and a cafe vibe. I typically prefer places with a waitlist, especially on a weekend, but this place is worth going to and waiting for a table. They do let you add your number when you check-in so they can text you when your table is ready which lets you wait in your car. read more

I was in the area dropping off a gift for a friend when I came across bluebird cafe. Being that I'm 11 weeks pregnant I was hit with a wave of nausea and knew I needed to eat quick. I popped into bluebird and my waitress Harumy was kind enough to suggest that I could put together a personalized skillet (off the menu) just for me due to my current food aversions. The food came out so quick and not only did it truly save me, but it was delicious! One of the few things I've enjoyed eating in weeks! Randomly stopped here and it didn't disappoint. I had the omelette, I think it was the Mexican omelette, and it was really, really good. Fluffy and full of flavor. And the salsa on top tied it together. The potatoes on the side were even better, and they gave me tortillas. What a blessing . According to my nine-year-old the chocolate chip pancakes were really good. She finished the entire thing, but she did say that she wish there was a more bacon. The service was good. We frequent the Denver area every October and discovered Bluebird Cafe 2 years ago. This was our second time here and it was every bit as great the first time. Wife had the Green Chili Benedict and I had the eggceptional omelette with a side of smoked Gouda grits topped with crumbled bacon. One of the more memorable breakfast we have had.
