The retailer was trying to get in touch with them to give them instructions and they weren't answering. I got an automated call saying they'd be here between 8 and noon. Nada. Then a text at 2:45 that it was in route. At 6, nada. I spoke with the Retailer and they were able to make an arrangement saying it would deliver Monday. Fine. Home Depot uses this company for local Chicagoland deliveries. My review is for the North Chicago branch. After our ridiculous ordeal, when ordering delivery items from any company I will always call to ask who the carrier is for our local area as I refuse to work with the condescending, arrogant and unprofessional staff they have at the North Chicago location. I received a phone call from their delivery scheduler, Jonathon, to let me know he was attempting to schedule a delivery but because of how my item (a children's backyard swing set) was packaged I would have to remove the item from their truck myself since the item was too long to be lowered down with a lift and their drivers are not required to help with deliveries. What? He insisted it was my responsibility. He was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Over the course of several days my husband and I both asked to speak to a manager (while also trying to work with Home Depot to resolve the issue) and their manager Jay never called to address our delivery issue or our customer services complaints. Ultimately we cancelled our order and will be avoiding this company like the plague. read more

Another one star reciew! I wish I would have seen these reviews before. I never would have ordered from Home Depot knowing they use this company. I got a call Thursday saying I would get a delivery between 9-1 on Friday. The message did not indicate anyone needed to be home or otherwise, so I went off to my work class as usual. I arrived home around 12 and nothing was there, but I figured they have another hour, so I can wait around. By 8pm still nothing there. I check the status information online and guess what! It says it was develiered AND the signature is illegible. Oh right, BECaUSE I DIDNT SIGN FOR IT!!! Of course they are not going to know where it went or who it went to. I would love to know which house my chairs were delivered at and who is enjoying them right now. What company delivers them to the wrong place? Not only are they bad drivers, as one yelper pointed out, but they're also bad delivery people. The driver of the truck is not required to get out to help with the delivery. If you can't help in assisting them get the merchandise off the truck, then they take it back to their warehouse until you can find someone that will help. The call center is horrible as well. Ordered a vanity and it is now over a week late passed the delivery date from Home Depot. They use this carrier and they are unable to provide us an exact date of when I should be receiving my product. They keep pushing back the date and keep telling me to call back. I am unable to track it online and I'm finding myself calling everyday 20-30 minutes to find out the status. Worst company ever!! read more

Customer Service is not their forte! I received a delivery on Wednesday but it was shrink wrapped to another shipment that was not mine. I called on Thursday when I realized it did not belong to me and I was told that someone would be out that afternoon between 1 and 4:30 to pick up this error. Around/a little after 4:00, I called the Chicago branch to see when the driver was coming since it was coming close to closing time. This is when I was told that there would not be a driver coming today since someone didn't check with another someone (not my problem). I was unhappy to realize that no one even thought to give me a call to let me know this. While the person I talked to was not rude persay, I did find his attitude annoying. While I explained that I don't have all the time in the world to wait for this and that I was doing them a favor by telling them about their error, I did not find him responsive. When I told him I needed to be called before they arrived, he seemed irritated and told me they would arrive between 12-2 and I would receive a phone call to make sure someone was here to work the forklift. It is currently 2:33 on Friday and the driver has finally shown up (but not at the right time and they didn't call). In summary, I'm a very upset customer because: 1. Their mistake became my problem 2. I feel there was a blatant disregard for my time by everyone involved 4. I was on hold to corporate to express my greivances for about 10 minutes before I gave up. This company is the worst! I will not order from Home Depot again unless I can get assurance that they will NOT use Estes trucking. Our flooring arrived at Estes on the May 25th. As of June 4th we still don't have it. We have had someone available to receive scheduled shipment three times now and the driver has not shown up during the hours promised and did not deliver. When you call the office you are put on hold for LONGGGG periods of time just to talk to the same person (I believe there is only one person working in the office) who claims someone other than her talked to us before (6 times now) and did not leave notes in the file but she will help us. It is all lies! Don't use this company unless you are looking to waste several days waiting for them to show up and many hours of phone time trying to get your delivery. read more

Our package was supposed to arrive on the 23rd between 10-2 pm. I called at 6 pm that day and told them my package did not arrive, they told me they had tried to call at 11 pm and since no one answered (phone was at work with me while boyfriend stayed home) they wouldn't deliver. I rescheduled for the 25th and was expecting a phone call. They show up unannounced and early while we were all just waking up. They didn't even help us with the 200 lbs package. Extremely dangerous, inconsiderate drivers. These guys are always playing around with their GPS's and cell phones as they merge onto I55. I have seen many estes trucks merge with complete disregard for other motorists, often much slower than the traffic pace and pushing into cars already in the right lane. read more

Terrible company to deal with. Employees are rude. Act like their owed something. Very lazy. Drove by terminal, equiptment every where, no organization. Flooded lot from rain. People honking getting out of truck yelling at each other. Lots of damaged equiptment parked in yard. Freight loaded in trailers with back door open. These guys blow. Home Depot uses them to make deliveries, and I'd ordered $1500 worth of tiles which today they "delivered" by dumping them in my front yard in the rain. Wouldn't bring them inside. My sitter was the only one home, so she called to ask what to do. I called the delivery guy and asked can you at least put them beyond our side gate so they wouldn't be up for grabs outside our house. The guy said no. I asked what company he worked for, because I was gonna complain. He wouldn't tell me. He just kept saying "Home Depot! Home Depot! Call Home Depot." Well I did, and lodged complaint with them, and also sent them a link to Estes craptacular Yelp page to boot. read more

My first shipment mysteriously disappeared traveling from McCook to Bolingbrook (to another shipper). They then "damaged" the 2nd shipment so badly, at least on the outside of the package, that the other shipper would not accept the package. My 3rd attempt to order and actually receive had to go through a completely different shipping company. Magically, it made it to me without incident. Shipper beware! read more

Out of Chicago, Estes has turned me around. The Estes terminal I work with the most is in Southern California, and although they have lost shipments or skipped pickups, their service has mostly been okay - I at least know what I'm getting. My last experience with this Estes terminal in Chicago was less than stellar, but this last time, I have to say, I'm extremely impressed. A shipment came in later than their expected delivery date (minus the star), but over the weekend, on Sunday, the Estes rep at the terminal went out of her way to ensure I was able to coordinate a Dock pickup to get our delivery ASAP. She kept me up to date throughout the day on when the trailer was being unloaded, and when she had to leave for the day, made sure someone else at the terminal was following up with me. Seriously, this is above and beyond service in an industry that unfortunately expects very little out of most LTL carriers. I'm not sure I would count always on an accurate transit time, but I will absolutely now be able to count on the folks at Estes in Chicago looking after my freight and being there, responsive, and responsible as far as our freight is concerned. read more

The absolute worst company to deal with. I had a return set up through Walmart that Estes was responsible for picking up. First of all, you can't even get through to this company over the phone. I first tried to set up an appointment online, as I was instructed to do, and it allowed me to do so, but never actually went through (even though I completed the process 5 times). So needless to say, no one showed up as I waited around for them to do so. Then, finally receiving a call from them and setting up an appointment over the phone, the wrong company was sent out and refused to pick up the item. They told me they would call estes and let them know to call me. Of course, never received a call. I called them, and after 5 hours, finally got a return call. The guy was incredibly rude on the phone. Told me I'd receive a call from the returns department within 24-48 hours. 4 days later, still nothing. Try calling them again, can't get through. Finally I went through Walmart to explain the situation and they told me I can just get rid of the item and not worry about returning it because of how terrible the experience has been for me. This place is awful, they don't care about customers or even pretend like they do. So unprofessional and frustrating. read more

Unorganized company, they called to schedule an appointment, which their delivery times are only Monday thru Friday 9am till 4pm. I asked if I could pick it up, and the lady told me no, that I would need approval for the company I purchased it from. So I scheduled a day off of work, my delivery appointment was schedule from 9am till 1:00pm. The night before I received a phone call saying they had to cancel my appointment, because my item wasn't at the correct terminal. I told them that this was unacceptable, so they made arrangements to make sure that my delivery was still on as scheduled. Delivery day comes and 1:00pm and no delivery, I call dispatch and they said within the hour. 2:30pm comes no delivery, I called dispatch again to confirm that my item was even on the truck, they told me it was and the truck was in the next state over (Indiana). I live in Illinois, 10 miles away from the terminal. 4:00 comes and the delivery truck arrives, but it's not an Estes truck, it's some subcontractor. read more

I tried calling their Chicago terminal in regards to a damaged glass table I received. I was told by the top brass that "we own this industry" , "what makes you think we need you're business?" , and so on. The guy told me he was the "Regional Manager", but sure didn't act like it. Its really hard to believe that a company with such scum bags at the top has been able to get so far. This delivery service is terrible. I ordered a cabinet through HomeClick a few weeks ago and my cabinet has been sitting in their warehouse for almost 2 weeks. When I called to find out what the hold up was the customer service agent told me that they didn't have my contact info. Lame! We scheduled a delivery and the guys never showed. They claimed that no one was home during their attempted delivery but that's a lie. This isn't my first time ordering furniture. I was home and they have my number. Estes West in San Diego has to be one of the worst companies to do business with. Estes set up a delivery window for a pallet. I agreed to their time. I did not request any special time. I was at our warehouse waiting for them. They never showed up and didn't call. I called dispatch just before the window was expiring. He told me that they wouldn't be able to make it on time. Dispatch suggested that Estes call me 30 minutes prior to delivery, so I could meet them at the warehouse. The driver called me about an hour later. I was walking into a clients office, but told him I could be there in forty minutes. He told me that he needed to call dispatch and make sure he would be able to wait. He said he would call right back to confirm. A half hour later, still no call from the driver. I called him back. First, he tried to tell me that he has been waiting for me. When I confronted him about the fact that he was supposed to call back to confirm, he then tries to tell me that he tried. He also tried to tell me that the dispatch has been trying to call me. Complete lies. The driver, nor dispatch ever tried to call me back. Dispatch actually confirmed that he never called me about the driver waiting for me. When the driver realized that he is caught in a lie, he just hung up on me. Management is no better. I spoke to Craig at length about the situation. He actually had me on a speaker phone with dispatch, trying to tell me that my story is not what he heard from dispatch. After dispatch told their side of the story and I added detail and context to the situation, our stories were the same. Complete silence on the phone from Craig and dispatch. Estes West in San Diego does not know the first thing about customer service. The situation was so bad, the shipper recalled the pallet and sent out a new one, with a different trucking line. I may be a small fish, but the shipper is a very large company. They have decided to stop doing business with Estes. Management is so short sighted that they couldn't see that their rude behavior will effect more than their business with me. I will never use this company again, and I highly suggest everyone avoid them at all costs. read more

One of the worse companies I have ever dealt with. I ordered a couch and the company I ordered through used Estes. I got a notice that it shipped on July 14th, but it never left Estes New Jersey location until the 23rd. I made several phone calls the first of which they first couldn't find my shipment and then when they did they explained it hadn't left Jersey, but that it was being put on a truck and would be in Chicago by the end of the week. When I never received a call I started calling again just to go through the same process of them not being able to find it and the customer rep telling me there was nothing she could do because I didn't get the other customer reps name that told me it would be there by the end of the week. She just kept telling me there was nothing she could do. I finally spoke to manager that tracked my ordered down and told me it hadn't even left Jersey until the 23rd. I finally got the sofa today the 30th. Over two weeks from when it was suppose to be shipped. Also, when I talked to a customer rep from their Chicago location and expressed how frustrated I was when they again couldn't explain why my sofa wasn't here and that at points I was told it was lost she said to me, "that I was never told that it was lost. Her computer didn't show that." They had no idea what was going on with my shipment, but they wanted to argue over what I was or wasn't told by their reps. Never use them! read more

This is for Estes West Express in San Diego (possibly formerly known as G Trucking?)... To start, I received a phone call from them on the day that the package was SUPPOSED to arrive stating that the driver would be in my neighborhood four days later (what???) and that if I would not be home to receive the delivery, I would need to leave a note on the door. Despite telling them that I would be fine with the package being left outside, they insisted I leave a note. We stayed home all day on the delivery day, but nothing arrived and I received no phone call. I received no notice from the company and called a couple days later to follow up. I was told that the driver tried to deliver the package that afternoon, but no one was home and there was no note, but there was absolutely no way we would have missed someone if they actually came to the door. And if they really had attempted delivery, why was no notice left or a call placed to reschedule? They finally delivered the package the following day (7 days after the sender's original estimate) and left it outside per the note we made sure to place by the door. The box looked like it had been dragged behind the truck, even torn open in areas, and contents were pretty beat up, though thankfully nothing was missing or irreparably damaged. Customer service was unprofessional and horrible to boot. Will avoid this company at all costs in the future. read more
