I would give this place 2.5 stars if I could. I have been here a number of times due to its location and the sandwiches are huge and are too much to eat in one setting especially if put on a roll versus sliced bread. Prices are high....this is the American model....charge high prices but stuff'em full of food so they are happy. I just started working in this area and started to explore all the food! We had to order lunch for the office and chose this place across the street. I faxed over the order for pick up. My fax order had numbers on them next to the names of the employees so they can mark the boxes. Of course with excel the punctuation period next to the number was erased so esposto's thought it was the amount of dishes for each order instead of just a list. So we get there and they made a lot more food then we ordered and it was totally my fault!!! I apologized profusely and they were so kind about it, that is fantastic customer service right there. Good local deli. I've tried sandwiches and hot dishes. I've enjoyed everything I've eaten there. Customer service is good too. Place is clean which is always a plus. Terrible service, false advertising and customer let-down and disrespect. I live and work in the area. Today at 11:30 I was on the way to my gym class and decided to check out a new breakfast / brunch option in the area. This place always stood out aesthetically as a slightly higher scale option than most of the kiosk/corner deli type joints nearby. I went in and looked around at the menu and saw one that said "Now serving breakfast". When I asked the male employee, what was still available, he first told me they have no breakfast. Puzzled, I asked him if he knew about the menu standing in front of me, which had no hours on it and advertised clearly the "now serving". The male employee rudely laughed in my face that "no one eats breakfast at this hour," and that it's "obviously meant to work only until 11" (yet it was still out prominently). At that point it was clear, this employee is totally clueless about customer needs, but further, that the manner in which he approached a pretty normal request was absolutely disrespectful. When I told him that they should probably put away a menu that is not offered (it was in a plastic stand), and that it's not a way to handle customer inquiries, he said, "it's ok, goodbye." Our community deserves better than this. Please blacklist this business until they address their false advertising and customer service issues! read more

I get the impression that the food can be hit or miss here, but my sandwich was definitely a hit. I ordered a prosciutto sandwich with mayo and pesto on dutch crunch bread. First off, they were very generous with the meat -- I had about a 3/4" thick layer of prosciutto, and at $7.75 for an 8" sandwich it's not a bad deal! Many other Italian delis give you less prosciutto because it is relatively more expensive than the other meats. The dutch crunch was average, not particularly chewy on the inside or crunchy on top, but not offensive either. All sandwiches come with lettuce (they actually use romaine here, not iceberg!), tomato, pickles, pepperoncinis, and onions. I'm a big fan of the pepperoncini and Italian cured meat pairing... One word about the spreads though -- don't forget, you get to choose 2 for free (including pesto, which normally costs extra at other sandwich shops). If you don't specify, they give you mayo, mustard, and olive oil & vinegar (the most boring options) by default. read more

This is my new favorite lunch spot in Mission Bay. Really solid deli sandwiches and salads. Everything is fresh, and they have great breads. Plus, their prices are relatively cheap for San Francisco. Their huge size soda is $1.45, for example. Huge cookies for $0.85. Seriously, where else in this town do you find that? If you're in the neighborhood around lunchtime, check this place out. It's right near where I do research so it's pretty convenient. I'm not particularly selective when it comes to sandwiches, but they do make a pretty decent sub. Dutch crunch bread is good but a little harder than at other places. Normally I wouldn't complain but I recently got braces so tougher bread really causes a nightmare for me. This place used to be amazing. I can't say the same now. Had lunch here today. There were about five flies buzzing around, the other side of the ordering counter had a floor that was full of papers and plastic that was not picked up. The veggie lasagna lacked the flavor that it once had. So we were headed to UCSF for our sons PET scan for his nueroblastoma. We ordered food on our way over the bridge. We run in grab it and head to the appointment. Get to hospital open food realize that put cheeze on my wife sandwich. We both have real bad dairy allergies. Everyone makes mistakes so my wife calls to tell them. The older woman proceeds to argue with my wife saying she did not say no cheeze. We never have cheeze on anything! Finally I get on and she says of we will make another. I wait then get order and quickly run across street to my appointment. My wife open the bag and yep sandwich in incorrect again . So we call back again. They said oh yea we gave you someone else's sandwich no sorry OR any type of apologies. So my wife had to wait another 1.5 hrs to eat. We go back after appointment and wait for another 20 min and finally get our correct order. Still no sorry just rude attitude for the older woman inside. Nice!!!
