Omg! I went to TJ Tacos & stuffed my face. Me being me, I said, "I need dessert even though I'm full." My BFF agreed with me and we googled which dessert places were closest to us. EscoGelato was on the list & I really liked the name. We decided to go here and what a great plan it was! We struggled to get there, but decided parking and walking over was best. GPS wanted to take us down an alley, & like what? An alley?! We walked around & found it! The shop is kinda homey. It's small and only 2 to 3 tables are inside. They serve gelato, coffee, pastries, & lunch items like sandwiches. Hand crafted jewelry & merch are for sale which are cute and they also have teas for purchase. My BFF bought a Gelato in a waffle cone and loved it. I bought an S. Pelligro drink, small chocolate Gelato, & a Sonoma Chardonnay tea. First taste of my Gelato made me so gracious. It was delicious and the rich flavors danced upon my tongue. Now I'm an addict & I'm going to come back and hopefully they'll have regular chocolate chip cookies instead of salted chocolate chip cookies. Came here on a whim when a coffee shop we wanted to go to was closed. We were pleasantly surprised by the cozy vibe of this place and the cute outdoor seating deck that worked well for our dog. The employees were extremely friendly and nice as well! For coffee, we ordered a cappuccino and the seasonal maple cinnamon cold brew. Both were solid! I have to revise my previous review. I thought an experience was just a one off, but apparently not. We don't usually come on Sundays, but twice now, the cashier (between 3pm-4pm) actively creates more work for the customers. She asks if the order is for dine-in or take-out, and then proceeds to bag baked goods and serves drinks in to-go cups despite the customer's response of wanting to dine in.‍ It has to be explained to her that it will be difficult to eat the pastry in a bag. Seriously? She then proceeds to put it on a plate and serves it without a fork. I had to ask for one; only to be given a plastic fork! I guess, she's the one assigned to wash the dishes that day.‍ Now, for a not-so-laughing matter--This cashier also double charges. Not really sure where she is coming from, but it is definitely not in the customer's best interest. Friendly advice: Make sure you let your companions know you've already paid. Otherwise, even if you told this cashier you are paying for the order, she will still ask one in your party to pay, after you've gone out to find a table. Get this, when one asks for a refund, of course they will only refund the duplicate items; never the gratuities. Smart. Really takes the cake! The other employees try to offer friendly service, but of course they don't want to take care of the fallout created by this cashier's chaotic "customer service". There is street parking in front of the store. They also have outdoor tables set up if you want to enjoy your gelato there. For the small and medium cups you can get up to 2 flavors and for the large up to 3 flavors. They are allowing sampling right now. I got the large and chose strawberry, chocolate and pumpkin (it's Fall after all). Flavors were great! And it was a nice and creamy consistency. So many flavors I wanted them all haha. Nice staff. I had a buddy and his son head down from LA to hang for the day. Before they headed back my buddy was in the mood for ice cream. I reached out to a friend who knows Escondido better than I do and she recommended this place. She was absolutely correct. First off, I loved how the place is decorated on the inside. It's simple. But very pleasing to look at. It's almost calming in a way to be honest. They have a big outdoor seating setup which was nice, especially on a lovely day like today. I don't remember the girls name who served us, but she was super sweet. I've never had gelato before so I had questions. She gave me a few recommendations and even gave me a "good choice" on my final decision. It may seem simple, I went chocolate and strawberry. It was amazing, definitely hit the spot. I am one of those that like one of each to try them all. I could actually see getting a flight to try all! Tried the blood orange, matcha strawberry rose and my kiddo had red velvet. Delish! The prices are not just reasonable, they are down-right cheap. You get a lot of gelato for a really low price. I could not even finish mine. There was quite a wait, but that is expected because their food is scrumptious and many families frequent here. A family of 4/5 ahead of us ordered sundaes, so production took a while.
