A quick search on yelp led me to Aurora's Bakery, all the reviews raved about their tres leches cake specifically! I was met with a welcoming attitude, in addition to the amazing smell of freshly baked bread! I asked if they had any tres leches cakes on hand or if it was reservation only? Luckily they had a variety to choose from and at a better price than Vallarta or north gate! I highly recommend coming here if you need a cake for any special occasions, they also take custom orders! Apart from cakes, they also sell gelatinas (jello), flan, choco flan, plus a great selection of classic Mexican bread. I will definitely be coming back! Sadly I did not get a picture of the cake. I will admit that at first the business hours would throw me off but once you realize they do it so that they can keep fresh bread available you appreciate them even more! At Aurora's bakery, I had the most unpleasant experience. Right when my mom & I entered the bakery we were given a nasty stare by the two women working behind the register. The ambiance felt very hostile as we were paying customers!!! The bread looked very delicious so as we proceeded to grab our bread & checkout, one of the ladies bagged our bread & legit threw it towards us across the counter. I'm not even a fan of Conchas in general but one day our friend brought us conchas from aurora's and they were the most yummiest softest pan dulce I have ever had- especially the conchas!! Like wow!! They're bread is legit with very little preservatives so they won't last you very long. I got the bolillos and after a day and a half- they get hard. So eat day if you can and enjoy!! Minus one star due to inconsistency of hours of operation. If you see the sign outside that says "We're open" then it's go time!!! If no sign- then it's closed. And it could be closed in the middle of the day. Their hours are something funky like 5am-11am and then open again (Same day) 5pm-8pm - something random like that. This is the best pan dulce bakery in town. If you are able to come in right when the bread and goodies are freshly baked, it really is delicious. The bread rolls crackle when you slightly squeeze it. You come in, grab tongs and a tray and have at it. You can get carried away so easily here and think you've racked up a large bill, but it's quite affordable given what you buy. Service is always friendly. This is my go to bakery. Call in the morning and ask when they expect to have fresh bread ready. It's worth it. read more

I have been to many panaderias up an down the West Coast, and this is by far the best one. So you're probably wondering what separates Aurora's Bakery from other panaderias. First off, they've got the usual suspects. Things like conchas, empanadas, and galletas. They have breads that I actually don't know the name of - I still eat them without discrimination. The thing about these sweet treats is that they are some of the freshest tasting pan dulce you will ever have. I didn't even realize I liked conchas because they are usually dry and/or stale. These conchas are soft and life changing. Second great thing about this place is that they have tamales most mornings. I say most mornings because they have been known to sell out fast! My family comes here every week for conchas...they are so light and fluffy, the best I have ever had! We typically get tamales too, although the quality fluctuates from week to week. Last week we found a bone in one. Besides their conchas, the rest of their bread is pretty standard. I have ordered a flan from the bakery which was delicious. Let me tell you, it took me forever to find this place because it is a small tucked away little joint. (In a good way). All the bread is soooooo good. Spongy. Soft. Mouth watery. I've purchased more than I can eat more than once and kept it in a tupper for a week and it still did not get rock hard. Unlike other places where you leave it out 30 minutes and it's somehow transformed into a rock. I had to take some to my family in OC and they too agreed that it was delicious. The cake was similar to what we had experienced in France and Austria, rich in flavor and not too sweet. Then we discussed the design and decided on a two tier elegant white cake to be embellished with live roses to be supplied by us. The top tier had a fresh strawberry filling and the bottom tier had a peach and pineapple filling. I always go to this place for my pan dulce. Their sweet bread is delicious and always fair priced, the woman that work there are always so sweet and helpful. There variety is best in the mornings and when they open back up in the evenings. They also have different jellos and flan, along with birthday cakes available. Their delicious Champurrado is usually always available and authentic. This will always be my go to spot for everything they offer.
