Their flavors are always fresh and seasonally which I love, my family has even donated some lemons for their fresh lemon gelato. On top of gelato they always have delicious paninis, the grilled cheese with pesto is my favorite and I will get it with some soup as well when I go. I've been coming here for years. I love that the menu includes locally sourced or organic options, sometimes there's even crazy gelato options like lavender basil As for the food, I'm definitely a fan of their paninis. They also offer gluten-free bread! If you do get a gluten free sandwich, the bread pieces are about half the size of a regular one, so they offer adding on a salad or soup for free, or if you just want the panini, i think they give you a good discount, but i normally take the salad option as it pairs great. I would recommend dining in instead of taking the food to-go, as I've had multiple incorrect orders. That being said, I still highly rate the little shop because of its options, freshness, and location. If you can't find street parking (because you can never find street parking in DT Escondido), there's a parking lot across the street that normally has plenty of parking. read more

EscoGelato continues to be such a chill and beautiful place with good food, drinks, people and (of course) gelato. The staff are always so friendly and start conversation from time to time. They deliver food orders to you. The flavors of their gelato can vary but they have consistently offered two or three vegan options. This time I tried their Avocado toast and my friend ordered one of their salads and they are both so delicious. Their Avo toast is vegan and has a light essence of rosemary which I am totally living for! I really appreciate how EscoGelato consistently has vegan options (thank you!!). I also had a maple flavored iced coffee with oat milk (which I recommend if they still have it) and their vegan chocolate chip cookie- #peferctpair! They have plenty of outdoor seating. Yes from the delicious rosemary olive oil bread (used for paninis and hot tip can be bought by loaf to bring home) - to the pastries (including vegan and gluten free options) - to ALLL the gelato and gelato cakes! - The Gelato is life changing - they usually have about a dozen flavors every day and frequently changing. They ALWAYS have at least 1-3 nondairy/vegan sorbet options. They have flavors from chocolate/vanilla/strawberry (freshest strawberry you'll get) - to something fun like earl grey/fruity cereal/caramel shortbread. Their fruit flavors are insanely good/fresh/real - like smoothie bowl good. They also make Gelato Cakes (going on 3 years in a row of that being my birthday cake)!!!! - The Coffee - fantastic!! We've been coming here for years now. EscoGelato is still one of the best coffee shop/gelato places in the area, and is definitely worth stopping in. The staff, service and food are still top notch after all these year., I'd say it's gotten better... They've extended their patio into the street a couple years ago during the whole "distancing". Which is Awesome! If I ever had a complaint, it would have been that the place is too small, but now there is double the seating. The patio has some umbrellas for shade on those really sunny days, and there's a nice sized tree that helps with shade too. The inside has had a few changes too. Sadly the kids nook was replaced by a cooler and a new book case runs along one wall to showcase local wines from the area, cups/mugs, and other specialty items. Kids still seem to love coming here. Instead of adventures in the kids nook, they explore the patio. The tables inside all have access to power outlets. They play some contemporary/jazzy music low and the noise is about average to quiet depending on how many people are coming in. I even prefer them to the fancier places in La Jolla or Little Italy (you know who you are...). The best thing has to be the rotating list of seasonal flavors. Cool combinations, and lots of crunchy or fruity inclusions into the gelato make this a winning choice. And super high quality ingredients! I try not to come too often, lol. But I'm always excited to see what new choices they have. Some people don't get anything unless their favorite flavor (like Tiramisu) is there, but I can always find a couple of flavors that I like. The inside gives off such a warm and cozy vibe. There is not a lot of indoor seating but there are plenty of tables outside. I immediately had my eyes set on the ricotta and fig gelato. I was with my partner and he asked for a couple of samples before settling on spiced caramel. For both of our small-sized cups of gelato, I paid around $9 which I think is decently priced. My order was delicious! However, the fig flavor was sometimes overwhelming with the big chunks of fig. When the fig wasn't dominating the flavor of the creamy ricotta gelato, it was super tasty. We love this spot. Summer. Fall. Winter. Spring. ALL!! The flavors are always amazing. I'm only sad when they sell out. The staff has consistently been friendly, even when the line is out the door. Tonight, on a cool wintery night, they still had fresh flowers on the tables. There is limited seating inside, maybe 4-6 seats. Most seating is outside, but, we live in the most amazing place, so grab a chair outside! I am so sad to post this review- but my experience today June 20th, was not pleasant. I walked into the coffee shop at 855pm.. there was a huge line for people to get gelato, when it was finally my turn it was 903pm.. I was not there to order gelato but instead a latte. I was told the barista had closed down and weren't able to make me the latte.. no way! I went home super sad about the customer service over all, nothing like in the past with the previous employees.
