It originally had a shirt tail style hem and a plaid flannel lining that I didn't like very much. My boyfriend came here to get his suit altered and we had the best experience! We came in kind of stressed because he needed his suit in two weeks which is a pretty tight turnaround. The man helping us reassured us that he would have it done. We paid $180 for an expedited service which included alterations to the butt area, crotch area, a length hem and a sleeve hem on the jacket. I needed to get a dress altered within a short period, so I was so happy to find this shop willing to do it. I had to pay $120, but I needed the dress done. I went to pick the dress up after a really busy day, and totally spaced the garment ticket at home on my fridge. A older guy started yelling at me, "Well, how am I supposed to find your garment if you don't have your ticket?!" He yelled at me some more about how he wasn't going to be able to find it. I then said, "Look, I'm sorry - but I don't have time to go back." (The event was in an hour). Then he yelled at me again saying he wasn't gonna find it. I asked, "Wait, what? You want me to drive home, get the ticket and come back?" And he yelled back, "YES!" At this point, I said "Sir, I'm sorry I forgot the ticket, but you can't keep yelling at me like this. That's not cool." The guy then asked me what my garment was and I told him it was a blue gown. He said "It's on the wall", and walked away to help another customer. The lady who actually fitted me was there and she gave me my dress. I'm 5'2 so I was really excited to find a nice tailor. But after this experience, I'm never going back. I went into Escobar Tailors to get my suit altered. When I went to pick it up I tried on the jacket and it was fine. I tried on the pants and I literally couldn't tell the difference. I made the mistake of mentioning that to Mr. Escobar. He said he did alter the pants quite a bit. I said I trusted him. But he wouldn't leave it at that. He took me by the arm and made me follow him to the window where there was more light and he proceeded to show me his work, even though I had said I trusted him. Then he said I hurt his feelings. I thought I was kidding, but when he persisted I realized he was serious! I apologized and said I didn't mean to hurt his feelings. He continued to be angry with me so I took my pants and left. Found another great tailor right away and am very happy with the work and the way I was treated. There are many tailors in the area, but if you decide to go with Escobar, be careful not to hurt his feelings! read more

Walked in to see if they could tailor two pairs of my boyfriend's jeans. The only reason we couldn't do it ourselves was because both pairs had zippers on each pant leg (fashion! Ugh.) Immediately a woman came out to help us. She had him try them on so see what needed to be done but let us know that unfortunately they charge ~$35 per zipper to be redone. 2 pairs of pants = 4 zippers. We were about to apologize and take the jeans home because that was more than we were prepared to spend, but the woman noticed that there were seams placed right under the knee of the pant so she gave us an alternate solution to tailor the pants without spending so much money. They were able to get them done in less than a week so my boyfriend would have them on his Vegas trip. Great service! Five stars because they were welcoming and hospitable. The owner was gracious enough to insist I take a seat while waiting for my boyfriend to try on his jeans. We will definitely return next time we need a tailor :-) read more

I came here to get a suit tailored for a wedding I was in, and although it was a bit pricey ($230), My suit was fully tailored, hemmed and tapered pants, jacket arms hemmed as well as tapering the upper waist area to make it form fitting form fitting. My suit now fits like a glove, definitely the best looking groomsmen in the wedding Some people I see here complaining about price, but as some can attest to, good work isn't always cheap, and cheap works isn't always good. As a "big & tall" sized man, it is extremely difficult to find proper fitting clothing. Clothing designers just don't design clothes for a 6'8" big guy like myself. Which is why Escobar's is an absolutely amazing place and I recommend it strongly. I bought a sport coat last year from a "big & tall" store in an emergency for an event I was going to. Of course the coat didn't really fit well, but it worked for the event. Feeling resigned to the fact I'd never have a good fitting suit, I kept the coat for future events. My Dad came across Escobar's store and decided to have me come in and see if Escobar could make this nice coat fit better. And he absolutely knocked it out of the park! Escobar is such a kind and attentive person and really made me feel good about the changes he was making to the coat and how it would look. All three of us had a great time talking about the coat and life in general. It was a very enriching and wonderful experience and I still smile thinking about that initial meeting. After leaving the coat with Escobar, Covid-19 restrictions went into effect shortly after. Even still with all the chaos in the world, Escobar still checked in on me and my coat status, and as soon as it was safe to come in for a fitting I did so. He followed every proper Covid protocol with masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing. I still have yet to see a store did it as well as he did! Now, back to the coat. It's amazing and fits so good! It feels like it was designed from scratch just to fit my body. You can't get this quality from anywhere else, and I am so overjoyed with the results. I can't wait to wear it at more formal functions and not feel self conscious at all about how it fits me. I will be beaming with pride! My brand new suit is now ruined. I am really sad this happened as I saved up a long time to buy my suit and is my only suit. There is now a huge crease in the back that the shop owner tells me is normal. But clearly the suit has been messed up in the back as it is not symetrical anymore. This place is for the sartorially correct, for those aspiring to look their best, and for all who just wish to have their clothes fit better. I personally have referred my friends to this tailor, some of which drive from Hayward for the service. Escobar Tailors are not your run-of-the-mill 'alteration' tailors - it would be more precise to say that they can 'customize' the fit of your clothing. Escobar will fastidiously customize your clothing to your most flattering fit while simultaneously meeting your own style preference. This type of craftsmanship is typically not found but in larger metropolitan areas, such as in San Francisco or Berkeley. Try taking in a couple of dress shirts (or blouses) and a pair of pants that you think already fit well. Have them measured and checked by these pros. You will be surprised how much better clothes fit after they apply their skills. Also, if you buy a suit from the rack at Macy's (or another department store), DO NOT use Macy's store tailors. In-store tailors are typically sub-par and their customer service terrible. Escobar can perform advanced adjustments, and their attention to detail is better than the factory. But don't let all this praise misdirect you into assuming that this luxury service can only come at a steep price - they are very reasonably priced, and often times not much different than the local alteration seamstress' at the dry cleaners. read more

You want to get your pants adjusted for cheap, try somewhere else. You want to look like Harvey Specter in a suit, this is your tailor. I'm a pretty regular build, at 5'10 athletic, and most off-the shelf clothing fits just fine. If you want to take it up a notch and go from just fine, to ass-whooping level, you need to have your fine clothes tailored to you. It's certainly not cheap ... I was charged $20 to have some pants hemmed, $40 to have pants totally tailor-adjusted (waist, crotch, hemmed), and $140 to have a suit jacket and pants done together. What would Harvey Specter do? Both were very complicated in design, but when I picked them up from him and tried them on, they fit perfectly. He really does some good work! Also, he has a good collection of suits. I know this place does a good job but I literally felt like I got rapped today. I took two pairs of jeans in and asked for original hem on them. When I was checking out he asked me to pay $60. I was a bit shocked. That is triple the amount that I am used to paying, not to mention that I have used him before and it didn't cost that amount to do original hem. Lesson learned, its okay to charge what is fair for you service, but don't fluctuate the price when you think you have a new customer. Now I have to find another place to use in the future because that is honestly ridiculous!
