I swore I would never again buy clothing without pockets....but this outfit totally called to me and I loved it... BUT IT HAD NO POCKETS! I called Escobar Tailors to see if they could add pockets to the pants. Pockets that would fit my phone. I am OVER THE MOON with the amazing amazing job they did!!!! You'd never ever know the pockets were an added feature. The material they used was top notch, and perfect color match. You can't even see the stitching! The size is perfect. EVERYTHING IS PERFECT!!! And they were done in a timely manner. And they fit my phone as requested! I can not recommend this family business enough!!! They are absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much Escobar Tailors!!! read more

I don't write yelp reviews unless I have a really good experience. They did an exceptional job on my leather motorcycle jacket. It originally had a shirt tail style hem and a plaid flannel lining that I didn't like very much. I asked them to create a straight hem and replace the flannel lining with material from an old Ben Davis work shirt. They even sewed in the original pocket. Very happy with the results. read more

Señor Escobar is the best in town. On my first visit, he greeted me warmly and chatted for a bit. After doing some quick measurements, he showed me 4-5 excellent options. I am picky with clothing fit so I narrowed it down to 1 option but still not perfect. He was patient with me and took time to think about how to tailor the jacket and pants. After a few alterations, the whole set fit beautifully. Señor even gave me a nice fabric cover free of charge. You won't regret visiting Escobar Tailors. Truly a gem in the East Bay. Price: $$-$$$ - Cheaper suits may go for 300-400. Mine was 600 (Ralph Lauren). Alterations are in the 50-100 range for pants and 100-150 range for jackets. 100% worth it. Quality: 9/10 - His collection is of exceptional quality. The only caveat: this is a small shop with less variety than you'll find at bigger retailers. Service: 10/10 - Would highly recommend to family and friends. Staff: 10/10 - Some of the nicest people out there. Family-owned small business. Turnaround: 8/10 - You may need 2-4 weeks to get a perfect fit. Plan in advance! He may be willing to accommodate urgent needs. Se habla español. Los sastres tienen un montón de experiencia. My boyfriend came here to get his suit altered and we had the best experience! We came in kind of stressed because he needed his suit in two weeks which is a pretty tight turnaround. The man helping us reassured us that he would have it done. We paid $180 for an expedited service which included alterations to the butt area, crotch area, a length hem and a sleeve hem on the jacket. We came in exactly 2 weeks later and everything was ready and looked amazing! Great service, attention to detail, and the guy who I believe might have been the owner had dad jokes to spare some of which were very funny :) Also, great selection of suits available for purchase read more

I needed to have the waist taken in on my pant and brought them to Escobar Tailors. They quoted me $120 for a simple alteration. I was told that it required extra work due to the pleats. I never heard that from my previous tailor. Insanely outrageous prices. Pretty much 3x what other places would charge. Needless to say I will never be going back. read more

So many options! The man working here was very kind, cracked a few jokes and was very knowledgeable in suits and tailoring clothes. He recommended a specific type of suit because my fiancé is more athletic built. He tailored it to fit him perfectly!! read more

I love Escobar Tailors. As a very petite woman it's hard to find clothes that fit me off the rack. Believing in the idea that you feel your best when you look your best, I often get pieces tailored to fit me like a glove. After reviewing & consulting with other places I found Escobar Tailors & now can't trust anyone else!! So far they've transformed two evening dresses for me & I can't be more thankful. One of them (pictured below) is my wedding dress for when my husband & I eloped in October last year. It was too big for me everywhere despite buying the smallest size available. Look at the dramatic transformation! With a piece for an event as special as this I wouldn't have trusted anyone else. Thank you so much for everything you do! I've found my go to tailor, I'll definitely be back. read more

I needed to get a dress altered within a short period, so I was so happy to find this shop willing to do it. I had to pay $120, but I needed the dress done. I went to pick the dress up after a really busy day, and totally spaced the garment ticket at home on my fridge. A older guy started yelling at me, "Well, how am I supposed to find your garment if you don't have your ticket?!" He yelled at me some more about how he wasn't going to be able to find it. I then said, "Look, I'm sorry - but I don't have time to go back." (The event was in an hour). Then he yelled at me again saying he wasn't gonna find it. I asked, "Wait, what? You want me to drive home, get the ticket and come back?" And he yelled back, "YES!" At this point, I said "Sir, I'm sorry I forgot the ticket, but you can't keep yelling at me like this. That's not cool." The guy then asked me what my garment was and I told him it was a blue gown. He said "It's on the wall", and walked away to help another customer. The lady who actually fitted me was there and she gave me my dress. I'm 5'2 so I was really excited to find a nice tailor. But after this experience, I'm never going back. I understand that the ticket would have helped. But there were solutions to this problem. I could have called my husband who was home to take a pic of the ticket or tell me the number. But I got yelled at like a little kid instead. Definitely going somewhere else. read more

We are getting married and my fiance went in 3 months before our wedding for a custom suit. Escobar Tailors killed it. Took about 3-4 week to get the suit back and it's more than we could ask for. We have a wedding this Saturday (it's Wednesday now as I write this) I needed my dress hemmed a bit at the bottom. They told me to come down ASAP, they got in me and told me my dress will be ready tomorrow afternoon! I was very impressed and the service was amazing. Will be bringing my wedding dress here for alterations! read more

Excellent quality and detail on custom fitted suits. Would buy again when opportunity arises

Amazing customer service they were friendly and had great recommendations. Best place in the East Bay.

Mr.Escobar did the impossible! Purchased three suites of the rack on a final sale however, the sleeves were too small. Mr. Escobar lengthened the sleeves and added an extra buttons to make the suit look it's best. Very happy with the fit excited! This the place to get your suit tailored Gentleman. read more

I took 2 jackets and 1 dress pants for alteration. The lady took my measurements and said it would be $310 and full payment would be required in advance and it would take 7 days to finish the job. I agreed and when I went back to pick my clothes, I tried them. One of my jacket was still a little bit bigger. I asked her if she could fix it. She said I would have to pay again. All that over-inflated charges and yet an unsatisfactory job. I will be looking for another tailor in the future. read more

I needed my father to wear a nice suit to a family wedding. He's not a suit guy. Hated shopping. Then we got to Escobar Tailors. The owner, a very nice and knowledgeable man was marking the suit for alterations. The two senior gentlemen chatted. Watching my dads face change as the suit was fitted was great. By the time they were done my father looked and more importantly felt great. The whole experience was wonderful. They have been in business for a long time. I highly recommend them for anything you need fitted. Suits to shirts and jeans. You're in good hands. read more

This is an old school tailor. He was very upfront and frank regarding my request, which I can respect. I walked in with 3 weeks to make a suit for a wedding. Went to Escobar Tailors to get my suit altered. Efrain did a great job at a fair price. Now I'm lookin' good! Thanks!

I went into Escobar Tailors to get my suit altered. When I went to pick it up I tried on the jacket and it was fine. I tried on the pants and I literally couldn't tell the difference. I made the mistake of mentioning that to Mr. Escobar. He said he did alter the pants quite a bit. I said I trusted him. But he wouldn't leave it at that. He took me by the arm and made me follow him to the window where there was more light and he proceeded to show me his work, even though I had said I trusted him. Then he said I hurt his feelings. I thought I was kidding, but when he persisted I realized he was serious! I apologized and said I didn't mean to hurt his feelings. He continued to be angry with me so I took my pants and left. Found another great tailor right away and am very happy with the work and the way I was treated. There are many tailors in the area, but if you decide to go with Escobar, be careful not to hurt his feelings! read more

Walked in to see if they could tailor two pairs of my boyfriend's jeans. The only reason we couldn't do it ourselves was because both pairs had zippers on each pant leg (fashion! Ugh.) Immediately a woman came out to help us. She had him try them on so see what needed to be done but let us know that unfortunately they charge ~$35 per zipper to be redone. 2 pairs of pants = 4 zippers. We were about to apologize and take the jeans home because that was more than we were prepared to spend, but the woman noticed that there were seams placed right under the knee of the pant so she gave us an alternate solution to tailor the pants without spending so much money. They were able to get them done in less than a week so my boyfriend would have them on his Vegas trip. Great service! Five stars because they were welcoming and hospitable. The owner was gracious enough to insist I take a seat while waiting for my boyfriend to try on his jeans. We will definitely return next time we need a tailor :-) read more

This guy is a crook simply put. Stay away otherwise he will charge you for walking in his store. Not joking the fee is $25! I've never experienced such a horrible salesman before. He was forcing a pregnant lady to pay for asking a question and explained that he needed to pay rent. The owner is like a used car salesman and all the clothes for sale were old and dusty from decades ago. read more

We walked in just to ask if this guy could tailor an existing suit. We were charged $25 for a "consultation." We got swindled but he ran the card and said we have rent and electricity to pay. great service! They're very helpful and kind. They got my bridesmaid dress hemmed on time!

I came here to get a suit tailored for a wedding I was in, and although it was a bit pricey ($230), My suit was fully tailored, hemmed and tapered pants, jacket arms hemmed as well as tapering the upper waist area to make it form fitting form fitting. My suit now fits like a glove, definitely the best looking groomsmen in the wedding Some people I see here complaining about price, but as some can attest to, good work isn't always cheap, and cheap works isn't always good. Don't get me wrong, it's not cheap here, but All I can say is, you get what you pay for! On another note I'll be in this weekend to get a new suit done. read more

As a "big & tall" sized man, it is extremely difficult to find proper fitting clothing. Clothing designers just don't design clothes for a 6'8" big guy like myself. Which is why Escobar's is an absolutely amazing place and I recommend it strongly. I bought a sport coat last year from a "big & tall" store in an emergency for an event I was going to. Of course the coat didn't really fit well, but it worked for the event. Feeling resigned to the fact I'd never have a good fitting suit, I kept the coat for future events. My Dad came across Escobar's store and decided to have me come in and see if Escobar could make this nice coat fit better. And he absolutely knocked it out of the park! Escobar is such a kind and attentive person and really made me feel good about the changes he was making to the coat and how it would look. All three of us had a great time talking about the coat and life in general. It was a very enriching and wonderful experience and I still smile thinking about that initial meeting. After leaving the coat with Escobar, Covid-19 restrictions went into effect shortly after. Even still with all the chaos in the world, Escobar still checked in on me and my coat status, and as soon as it was safe to come in for a fitting I did so. He followed every proper Covid protocol with masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing. I still have yet to see a store did it as well as he did! Now, back to the coat. It's amazing and fits so good! It feels like it was designed from scratch just to fit my body. You can't get this quality from anywhere else, and I am so overjoyed with the results. I can't wait to wear it at more formal functions and not feel self conscious at all about how it fits me. I will be beaming with pride! Please please please support this amazing local family owned business. You are not going to get better quality work at any national chain OR a better price. Businesses like this are the heart and soul of our community and we really need to support them. I will absolutely keep coming to Escobar's for all my tailoring needs, as I have plenty of other items that could fit better! Please give Escobar an opportunity, I promise you will not be disappointed! read more

My brand new suit is now ruined. I am really sad this happened as I saved up a long time to buy my suit and is my only suit. There is now a huge crease in the back that the shop owner tells me is normal. But clearly the suit has been messed up in the back as it is not symetrical anymore. I have never seen this on any suit. :( I paid 70$. I asked if we could get this fixed, they wanted to charge me an extra 60$ after my suit was ruined... To get it fixed. read more

I've gotten a blazer hemmed and some trousers hemmed and tailored from Escobar Tailors. Both times Mr. Escobar assisted me and both times made suggestions based on what he felt I desired. His input definitely helped and I've been extremely happy with the results! My trousers were too loose and long for my liking after Men's Warehouse "tailored" them. Before even mentioning what I disliked, Mr Escobar started suggesting changes he saw the trousers needed. He hemmed the leg and tailored them to make them the slim fitting look I like. Awesome place and awesome service!! read more

The tailor is very knowledgable and seems to know his craft, but I believe the prices are overly inflated for the work. I have since found a new tailor who does just as good of a job for a fraction of the cost. Staff not very friendly and were more interested in payment than how I looked in my suits. I would shop around for another tailor and save yourself some of your hard earned money.... read more

My jaw is still on the floor.... I attempted to sew in a side zipper in my new motorcycle jacket with my ancient sewing experience and while it worked, It's pretty darn ugly and sketchy. So I looked up tailors in the area and and found Escobar's in Pleasant Hill. I was welcomed by the warm and friendly family staff. They were very conscientious about my jacket and wanted to make sure that there would be no damage to it from their work while attempting to fix my horrible work. Prices were more than fair for this level of expertise, the zipper looks so good, you can't tell the difference between their zipper and the manufacturers zippers, absolutely amazing. This is my new go to place for any tailoring or alterations from now on!!! Once again, Gacias to you guys!!! read more

This place is for the sartorially correct, for those aspiring to look their best, and for all who just wish to have their clothes fit better. I personally have referred my friends to this tailor, some of which drive from Hayward for the service. Escobar Tailors are not your run-of-the-mill 'alteration' tailors - it would be more precise to say that they can 'customize' the fit of your clothing. Escobar will fastidiously customize your clothing to your most flattering fit while simultaneously meeting your own style preference. This type of craftsmanship is typically not found but in larger metropolitan areas, such as in San Francisco or Berkeley. Try taking in a couple of dress shirts (or blouses) and a pair of pants that you think already fit well. Have them measured and checked by these pros. You will be surprised how much better clothes fit after they apply their skills. Also, if you buy a suit from the rack at Macy's (or another department store), DO NOT use Macy's store tailors. In-store tailors are typically sub-par and their customer service terrible. Escobar can perform advanced adjustments, and their attention to detail is better than the factory. But don't let all this praise misdirect you into assuming that this luxury service can only come at a steep price - they are very reasonably priced, and often times not much different than the local alteration seamstress' at the dry cleaners. read more

You want to get your pants adjusted for cheap, try somewhere else. You want to look like Harvey Specter in a suit, this is your tailor. I'm a pretty regular build, at 5'10 athletic, and most off-the shelf clothing fits just fine. If you want to take it up a notch and go from just fine, to ass-whooping level, you need to have your fine clothes tailored to you. It's certainly not cheap ... I was charged $20 to have some pants hemmed, $40 to have pants totally tailor-adjusted (waist, crotch, hemmed), and $140 to have a suit jacket and pants done together. What would Harvey Specter do? Probably not give you his tailor's number ... so I guess you lucked out with this review and got his contact info off Yelp. You're paying for a craftsman who's on top of his craft. - K read more

Very skillful tailor! I brought one leather jacket and one Miss Sixty coat there for alteration. Both were very complicated in design, but when I picked them up from him and tried them on, they fit perfectly. He really does some good work! Also, he has a good collection of suits. My dad bought one Italian suit there when it was on sale. With tailoring and the suit, it costs under $250. What a good deal! My dad was telling me how this $ 250 suit looks, feels, and fits as good as, if not better than his $1,000 Burberry suit. read more

I know this place does a good job but I literally felt like I got rapped today. I took two pairs of jeans in and asked for original hem on them. When I was checking out he asked me to pay $60. I was a bit shocked. That is triple the amount that I am used to paying, not to mention that I have used him before and it didn't cost that amount to do original hem. Lesson learned, its okay to charge what is fair for you service, but don't fluctuate the price when you think you have a new customer. Now I have to find another place to use in the future because that is honestly ridiculous! If its convenient for you to use this tailor I would still recommend him, but DEFINITELY call and get a ball park price from him before you go in. read more
