I wasn't able to post this review directly on the product page, so I'm sharing it here on Yelp instead. Warning: Hazardous Drawstring - Needs Immediate Redesign. I really wanted to love this Purpose Built sweatshirt, but there are some serious design flaws that need to be addressed. First and foremost, the drawstring is dangerously long. I've had multiple close calls--almost catching it on fire or having it get caught in doors or other objects. There is no practical reason for a drawstring to be this long, and it poses a real safety hazard. Please fix this. Now for the other details: Pros: Warm and thick material: It definitely keeps you warm in colder conditions. Stylish design: It has a modern look that's easy to pair with everyday outfits. Cons: Poor stitching: After just a short time of wear, the seam on the right sleeve already came undone. Very disappointing. Sizing runs small: I bought a medium and tried it on in store, and it fit great at first. But after just one wash, it shrunk significantly and now fits more like a small. I recommend sizing up one or even two sizes, especially if you plan to machine wash it. Final Thoughts: This sweatshirt has potential, but between the hazardous drawstring and the quality control issues, it's not something I can recommend just yet. After taxes, you're looking at over a $70 sweatshirt, and for that price, the quality should be much better. read more

The website auto corrected my zip code to a different city. The day the package was delivered to the wrong zip code I contacted the store three days in a row and never received a call back. I just now recived an email stating there was nothing they could do and to try and contact the post office! Nice customer service! My order was $300!! WOW. What can I say? From the moment we stepped in the door until the second we left I had just an absolute awesome time conversating with Gary while my husband tried on clothes. We were there because he needed FR blocking clothing for an upcoming job and this place has all the work wear you would need (even for ladies). Huge inventory and very fair prices. As my husband tried on the clothes I kept bringing, Gary was the sweetest most interesting guy. He likes George Burns & Elvis a lot. Has cool facts, pretty cool. East Bay Work Wear reminds me a lot of the Canadian Chain called Mark's Work Wearhouse. I walked in yesterday while the Kid was next door at the card shop. From my work point-of-view, this is a great place to pick up a pair of safety shoes. They're priced well and many offer the lighter and more comfortable composite toe. I've been here a handful of times with my husband for work clothes and boots. All of the staff we've met have been so helpful, patient, and knowledgable. We had to return a pair of worn work boots (they weren't the right type for the husband's new job) and they really took care of us. They have all the big brands (Carhartt, Dickies, Ben Davis, etc.) and can order just about anything in any size. They also have a lot of accessories and even some kids clothing. Another biggie is that they're open late on weekdays and open Sundays which makes like soooo much easier. They're definitely our go-to place for work wear stuff. read more

The only reason I am leaving a 3 star review is because I'm a grown woman and for some odd reason this store only carries junior sizes. Also that in the whole store the junior woman section is like the size on my hallway closet. What I can find, "works". I work in the restaurant industry. The reason I like shopping at small businesses like this is because I get great direct customer service without any haggling! I had purchased a pair of Carhartt anti tear pants a few weeks ago. After getting them sized from a tailor for being a bit to long, I put them to use as work pants. A few days ago the anti tear pants ripped from the back! I contacted the store and they were happy to exchange the pants without any fuss. They are going to send them back to Carhartt as being defective. I didn't have to worry about shipping them back and waiting for reply's if I had ordered them from an online store. Fast friendly customer service! read more

There is a great new store for the hard working man or woman in the Bay Area. Finally because the only other two are located in either Pittsburg or Berkeley. The store is really big and has so many things from sporting wear, scrubs for nurses, work wear, and a great selection of beanies. We came in for a new pair of work boots for my husband. He bought some last year that I told him not to buy because they were crap. Sure enough he didn't even get a year out of them. He found a great pair that is a well known brand and really tried them on. Customer service was really nice and helpful. I wandered around looking at the clothes and remembering how cute I was when I used to wear Dickies work pants. I found a Carhardt sweatshirt for my husband, in black, so it wont show the dirt. The store is really big and has a great selection of work items and work wear. For Father's Day last year I picked up a shirt for my Dad from East Bay Work Wear. My husband and I walked into the store simply to browse their items, but I saw a neon orange shirt ($21.78) that I thought he'd like wearing at Burning Man. I'd been meaning to check this place out for quite awhile now. I finally went in to check out their jacket selection. I called ahead to see if they have things in my size, as I wear pretty large sizes, and not only did they have stuff in my size, when I got to the store, the owner had pulled a few out and set them aside for when I got there. When I walked in, I was in clothing heaven. So many different jackets, pants, shirts, styles and brands I like, sizes that fit me, good prices. Dickies, Ben Davis, Carhart... the jackets I first tried weren't what I wanted, so the owner pulled a few others out, and I found something I wanted. Bought it, and love it. He also gave me a tip on how to keep the jacket black when washing it. Not only is this my new go to place for clothing, the owner was so helpful and cool he's on my Xmas cookie list. I needed to buy some stuff as a part of my uniform for EMS class so I checked this place out. They're pretty limited in their women's selection but a lot of my female classmates ended up getting boy clothes. As for me, my body frame is far too small for anything they had there. The belts here only accommodated size 34 or larger. There's an older man here who's super sweet though. He was very helpful to my needs and even gave me a discount on some pants that he managed to find for me. Yay! read more

I have shopped here for years, and it used to be a great store, but not anymore. I go out of my way to patronize local businesses whenever possible--it just seems like the right thing to do. Recently, I purchased 2 shirts from East Bay Work Wear (EBWW). I had to return one, because it did not fit properly. I returned this shirt within a few days, and employee Ramon appeared to have credited it back to my credit card account. I was in a hurry, and failed to check the receipt--my mistake. About a week later, I checked my credit card statement and saw that Ramon had actually debited it again (instead of crediting it). So, now I am out twice the amount (over $100), and I do not even have the shirt. OK, so mistakes happen...I was just glad that I caught it. I telephoned EBWW fully expecting them to take care of it promptly. Employee Curtis answered the telephone and told me they cannot help me unless I come to the store in person and bring both receipts and my credit card....not what I expected to hear. Luckily I only live about 20 minutes away. What If I lived further away? What if I had made this purchase while working out of town?? Anyway, I return to EBWW with both receipts and my credit card as instructed. Eventually, Curtis managed to credit my credit card account for the two debits they made. Fair enough, but not a single word about their mistake. Not even, "Hey man, sorry for the mistake" or "Sorry you had to come down here because of our mistake". Nothing. By the way, I found the correct size shirt at Amazon, and I received it in just a few days. That, of course, leaves me with a choice: Do business with Amazon and get what I want for the same price or keep making trips to EBWW for their poor service and rude behavior. read more

The best selection, best in store inventory, of no nonsense, durable work clothes I have ever found. Not some hardware store that doesn't even have dressing rooms. Work wear for any weather condition, fire resistant, etc., Easy Bay Work Wear is the best place I've ever been for pants, shirts, shoes, jackets, sweatshirts, belts, caps, all that fit right and last. I'm a regular at this store they have great product and prices are fair. Gary has the happiest face when he's taking a payment of $300 for product but when I had to bring back a pair of Ironclad (Heavy Duty) gloves for the second time, because the tips tore within a 6 week period he wasn't to happy he became grumpy within seconds. I felt very uncomfortable fast, he took the gloves with the most discomforting face and said he would call ironclad to see if they'll buy the glove back to give me a new pair. Went in to buy a pair of work boots. Found a pair I liked even though they were the same brand that I had just torn the heel out of. I wasn't super excited about purchasing the same brand boot however I'd like to have them for work tomorrow. I asked for my size, got it promptly, tried it on, and said these will work. I got a few other items and made my way to the register. The boots were on a shelf that said $129.00, yet the boots were ringing up at $180.00. When I brought this up to the cashier he told me they were in the wrong place on the wall and suggested I pick another pair if I didn't want to pay $180.00. When I went back to verify the price I had been aware of, he had already put them back in the correct location. He could have mentioned the mix up at anytime. I wasn't interested in paying $50 more for this pair of boots that were falsely advertised and he clearly wasn't interested in making the sale, so I walked out empty handed. read more

From Women's scrubs to breathable socks, even all white working shoes, he knew exactly where to direct me and guided me through every step.
