Do not go to this alteration shop. It's a ripoff. The seamstress doesn't know what she's doing and will not give you a refund if she messes up your clothes. She doesn't match the color and thickness of the thread when she does the alteration on clothes and uses cheap materials. Her stitches are crooked it looks awful. She wants customers to pay in cash and doesn't issue a receipt. She's just working part time because she has a regular job. Even if you file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau she won't budge. She's very rude and unprofessional. It was a horrible experience going to this place. read more

So, rude. I found an ad for other alteration place for only 7 dollars in Walnut Creek, so I wanted to ask how much Aki's place charges since we live close. I simply asked the price, and her price was almost double. She was expecting me to come in, so I explained that I just wasted to check the price since I saw an add for other place (I really just wanted to see the price! ). My husband needed a rush job on his brand new suit. She did a fast and sloppy job on my husbands suit pants. She cut the tags off of the jacket too without my husbands consent- and even better, a suit jacket that she never even tailored. Last time I checked you're not supposed to take any tags off without the customers consent. My husband didn't want to risk it and go back to her and get his suit pants fixed so we went to a different tailor to get her work fixed. The other tailor said in her 25 years of tailoring never has she seen such a poor, rushed job. So I go back to get a refund. I never once cursed, touched, or made any hand gestures at her. She tells me I'm not getting my money back and I'm harassing her. Last time I checked, raising my voice and asking for a refund because of shoddy workmanship is not a harassment. She says I will not win in court. I never once said I'd sue you. She says my husband was happy with the job and if I have a problem I should have been there with him on site. My husband is actually not happy with the job, he's at work and unable to come for the refund, why do you think I'm here? She says she will call the cops. On what pretense? She says because I'm speaking poorly to her. How so? She replies because I'm raising my voice and asking for my money back. Hm really? Last time I checked, it is not harassment to stand your ground and ask for money back if you feel poorly about the work. She tells me to leave. Nope. She calls her husband or relative and threatens me with 911 again. Go ahead. I'm not breaking any law. As a matter of fact I'm not going to leave anymore because now you've peaked me interest in this $43 dollar matter. I go to the store manager. She immediately hands me my money back and apologizes for your unprofessional behavior. I tell them I've done nothing wrong. Never touched you, never cursed, never said or gestured anything inappropriate. Store manager says I haven't done anything wrong and if I'm not happy I will get my money back. Plain and easy. Your work sucks, which is one thing, but you threatening to call the cops on me because I simply asked repeatedly for a refund is another thing. Thanks for the refund Burlington! read more

Sweet lady who was very helpful. I needed some basic hem work, she was able to do it right on the spot, we waited about 15 min and were on our way. I brought in a few dresses, tops and jeans that needed to be hemmed, narrowed on the sides, sleeves shortened and a new zipper on my jeans. I was worried that some of my clothes couldn't be altered because another alteration company told me that it couldn't be done due to the material. But with Aki, she insisted and ensured it could be done! I picked up my clothes about a week & a half later as I wasn't in any rush for it to be done. Aki contacted me and told me my clothing was ready for pick up. She showed me what was done and upon me trying my clothes on later on at home - I am very happy with the outcome!! I don't mean to budge in on the negative review left prior to mine, however I just wanted to say that Aki is one of the most sweetest people who is dedicated to what she does. She ensures your left feeling happy with your clothing, wants to make sure you feel comfortable and you can just tell she has this positive energy. I had a bad experience here and would not recommend this tailor. The location is falsely advertised as Pleasant Hill, but this is her home - the tailor shop is a tiny closet in the back corner of Burlington Coat Factory 5 miles away in Concord. There is no dressing room or curtain so she just asks you to change next to her, in this small closet. Awkward. When I arrived there were a couple of people in front of me and I was told there would be a 10-15 minute wait. That turned into 45+ minutes. She disappeared and didn't bring her cellphone with her, leaving me standing around waiting. Also when I made arrangements on a pickup time a few days later, she was not there - she arrived 20 minutes after our agreed upon pickup time. The hem job on my dress was okay; market rate ($30) for a simple straight hem on an unlined polyester dress. She also adjusted a snap button at the chest to be higher because I wanted more modesty. She didn't check the fit with that adjustment though, and the new button position was too high / tight - the button just pops open. Rather than facing a repeat ordeal of taking a lot of time to wait around for a fix, I moved the button back to the original position myself. The change she made left some thread hole marks / damage to a part of the dress right in the center of the chest which is fully visible now though, so I have to deal with a somewhat damaged looking new dress that I had to spend time fixing myself post-alteration. read more
