I was looking for something a little unusual, and at other stores I had struggled to try dresses in line with what I was looking for. It's a beautiful store in a convenient location, and I would highly recommend it. My stylist was very helpful and I loved working with her! (Shoutout to Renee!) That being said, I wouldn't recommend the tailoring at Janene's in Alameda. The first issue I encountered was that my dress wasn't delivered from the San Francisco store to the Alameda store in time for my first tailoring appointment, despite there being about 10 days to do so. The more concerning issue was that the stylist and tailor I worked with in Alameda didn't take my concerns about fit and comfort seriously, and seemed more interested in doing what they felt was best. My dress wound up being ill-fitting and uncomfortable in the torso and shoulders. What added further insult to injury was that the last stylist I worked with when I picked up my dress insisted that it wasn't that bad, and that all wedding dresses are similarly uncomfortable. There were a few issues with how the fabric was lying that I was assured could be fixed with fashion tape; when it came to the day of the wedding, fashion tape was completely ineffective. For all that, the alterations also cost more than my wedding dress. I've been effusive in my praise for Janene's as a place to buy a wedding dress; one of my friends has already bought a dress there! I have been similarly dispassionate about the tailoring services.

They charged $55 for one hour of trying on 10 gowns with a stylist . It may run over time a little bit but they did not charge us more . Each bride to be and friends got their own changing room and full body mirror , sofa to sit and wait . They serve you ice water with no charge and a menu to order latter and other drinks for a fee . Our personal stylist is Tiffany . She is great . Very patient and helpful to help the bride to come to the conclusion of what type of wedding gowns she actually likes the most . It was an elimination process . We started with 10 gowns and went down to the top two at the end . The prices vary depending on the materials. It ranges about $2000 to $6000 . Veil And alternation fee are extra . It takes 6 months to order a wedding gown if your choice. Then two months before your wedding day they would made smaller adjustments and alterations to fit you perfectly. I didn't want anything fancy and thought a white slip dress would do just fine. My sister had other plans and booked me an appointment at Riki Dalal. I had my first visit to the boutique on July 18, 2026, and when I walked in, I was greeted by the beautiful Limor. I told her my wedding was scheduled for September 23, 2026. I was completely ignorant to the world of wedding dresses and thought two months would be plenty of time. It's not! Please learn from my mistake :) Limor was so gracious and explained that because of my timeline, some options wouldn't be possible. I completely understood. After all, I wanted something simple and plain anyway. Right away, Limor listened to me. She paid attention to every little detail and explained things about dresses, fit, and construction that I had never even considered. I had no idea how much could be customized or how many options there were. I was shocked! After talking with her, I felt so much more confident about the process. She helped me into some beautiful dresses until we found a silhouette that I felt flattered me the most. I am a thick, busty woman, and I have to admit, I felt a little insecure standing on a platform being observed like I was auditioning for Top Model. But Limor made me feel SO comfortable. I pointed out the things about my body that I felt insecure about, and she never once made me feel embarrassed or ashamed. She never spoke negatively about my body or suggested that I needed to "hide" anything. As someone who has been told throughout her life to conceal certain parts of her body or feel ashamed of them, that meant more to me than I can explain. Limor made me feel like I was worthy of a beautiful dress exactly as I was. So needless to say, I ordered a beautiful dress that day. And it wasn't simple or plain. It was stunning. Even though I know my timeline probably stressed her out, Limor promised me my dress would be ready for my wedding, and she delivered. I had my first fitting during the first week of September, my final fitting the Friday before my wedding, and by Sunday, my dress was coming home with me. Roya, her seamstress, was incredible. She made every adjustment exactly as I requested, and she was both meticulous and FAST. She is truly talented, and her work was flawless. Neither she nor Limor ever made me feel like a burden for waiting until the last minute. Instead, they reassured me, complimented me, and made sure I felt supported and happy throughout the entire process. My dress was incredible. I have never felt more beautiful than I did on my wedding day. I didn't need to be a size 2 to wear a gorgeous dress or to feel gorgeous in one. My dress didn't hide my body. It accentuated it because it was made for me. I couldn't be happier with my experience at Riki Dalal. Limor and Roya gave me so much more than a beautiful wedding dress. They gave me an experience that genuinely changed the way I saw myself on one of the most important days of my life.
