I know this place does a good job but I literally felt like I got rapped today. I took two pairs of jeans in and asked for original hem on them. When I was checking out he asked me to pay $60. I was a bit shocked. That is triple the amount that I am used to paying, not to mention that I have used him before and it didn't cost that amount to do original hem. Lesson learned, its okay to charge what is fair for you service, but don't fluctuate the price when you think you have a new customer. Now I have to find another place to use in the future because that is honestly ridiculous! If its convenient for you to use this tailor I would still recommend him, but DEFINITELY call and get a ball park price from him before you go in. read more

Stopped into Escobar Tailors to get fitted for a Tuxedo today. Wedding is in another state so I had a simple little card to complete and I was in and out in no time. Overall a good experience - the owner and his assistant got me the information I needed and no charge... Just a firm handshake. This place had that old fashioned neighborhood tailor type feel, and I appreciated that. They seemed to be running some good specials on suits, too, so next time I am in need I will be back. read more

I had an online rental for a tuxedo and I needed to get some quality measurements for the tux. Naturally I turned to Yelp for help and was pleased with my selection of Escobar Tailors! It's awesome and exactly what I wanted :) Pricing - Escobar is the first tailor I ever been too. So I was not armed with standard industry prices on tailoring when I went in. After finding a new tailor and calling around a few places, it seems Escobar Tailoring prices are around 5% to 10% higher than most other tailors. Craftsmanship - Awesome, I couldn't even tell any of the garments had been tampered with. Shop - Pretty nice, it's not big or fancy but has a decent sized show room and 2 fitting rooms. Appears to have plenty of suits in stock. Lots of the suits he said are $400 but he has a big 50% off sign so majority of them are $200. Location - Nice, its right behind the parking garage in front of Century theatres and next to the old Borders book store. My only gripe is that he couldn't give me what I wanted when he initially told me anything is possible. However, it is my mistake for not having him pin down everything the way I wanted before I left (tailor noob). So I give him the benefit of the doubt there but when I told him after that it wasn't what I wanted and he said he couldn't do anything is what really disappointed me. He said it wouldn't look good if he did it my way and talked me out of doing it but it shouldn't be about what he thinks looks good, it should be about what the paying customer wants. I'm sure he's great with clients that will like their clothes tailored differently than I do. If you like to wear clothes that fit his vision. I'm sure he'll do a great job. He doesn't work for me though. I will not be coming back here. For reference, when I went to the other tailor, she did not spend anytime questioning what I want. She just did it. This is a list of the work the other tailor did to make it fit perfect. Coat: shorten both, both sides, center seam, raise back, deepen arm holes. Pants: crotch, plain bottom, super crease, flatten hips. Shirt: Outside shirt tape. Vest: Add adjustable strap back on. Please do not let my review steer you away from Escobar Tailors. I'm just wanted to share my experience and perhaps help others out who may be looking for the same fit that I like. read more

I feel like being a tailor is a selfless, thankless job. Getting the best you imagined in your head is almost always less than what a normal human can deliver. I went to escobar to fix my leather vest where a snap had broken. I originally went in and the owner told me to find a replacement snap and they would do what they could. I dropped it off once I had found the snap. He charged me five dollars, I only had a ten in my pocket. Instead of reaching for the cash register he reached his hand out and said 'Thank you my friend, I will have a beer in your name.' I honestly thought for a second about explaining, but then I thought of how classy of a move that was. He fixed my motorcycle vest that I practically live in, he thinks I left a 100% tip, and everyone is happy. On my way out he said 'If you need anything else, please come back'. It gave me the warm and fuzzies. I saw him dealing with other people and he was always honest and nice and I think he is a craftsman. If anything else comes down the pipe that I will need any work done, I will go back. read more

Small, personable tailors - I asked for an alteration to be done by the next day, but they apparently forgot about it when I arrived to pick up. They got on it immediately and had them ready in 20 minutes. I padded my pick up time so it wasn't a big deal, but it was nice to see them jump on it. And they did an excellent job. read more

Took my new Borrelli sport jacket in for tailoring. As usual Mr. Escobar did a superb job, he is expensive but this is due to the fact that a master tailor is doing the work. He is worth every penny, if you have a quality garment that justifies the cost. If so, bring it to him, you will not be disappointed. read more

I previously used a tailor located in Concord that closed down. I would take my suits and sports coats for tailoring and come out uncertain if the craftsmanship was acceptable. After they closed down I found Escobar Tailors when going to the movies one day. I decided to give it a shot and so far I've taken four suits, three sports coats, and bought one suit from Efrain and my clothes fit perfectly and the difference is night and day! Personally you want people to know your clothes are tailor fitted when they look at you and it's obvious they have been by a professional! Thank you Escobar Tailors for making me look good!!! But the reason they get a total of 5 STARS is because the people who work there are helpful with suggestions and have gone out of there way to accommodate my request. Found Escobars a few months ago and had him work on a pair of pants. He did a fantastic job. Best tailor I have found in contra costa county. I've since had him work on 8-10 other pairs of pants from simple hems to tapering legs to completely rebuilding an old pair of pants, all have been perfect. this is as good as it gets! being that i am pretty tall, it's not often i need to have jeans hemmed (ok ~ i've never done it before). i was going out of town and had some jeans that were way too long. i brought them to Escobar Tailors and from the moment i walked in, i felt transported to another time it was wonderful. Efrain, the owner, asked the right questions, measured to perfection, and had my jeans looking hot and hemmed by that evening. of course there was a nominal fee for expediting the hem job, but they did an amazing job and my jeans looked just like they would coming out of the store. I love this place. Being shorter than the average bear, I have had many pants hemmed by the father and son. They are friendly and prompt. They have been in the same location for years. The only drawbacks are the fumes. Downstairs is a smog test place and a nail salon. Also, parking sucked. I recommend parking in what-used-to-be Lyon's parking lot. I will definitely return the next time I buy long legged pants. Plus, the son is a hottie! read more

I was given a pair of $800 designer leather pants that were several sizes too big, so I figured it was worth paying for the alterations. I called several places and this place seemed to have the best price and ratings. I brought them in and tried them on so he could mark them for the alterations. He basically just eye balled it and when I made a suggestion he referred to himself as a "surgeon" and to let him do his work. Uh, okay... So I had to trust him and pray he knew what he was doing because he'd only get one shot. The quote was around $150ish. I came back a week later and they fit like a glove! Unbelievable! This guy is fantastic. I spent some good money on a couple suits last time I went to India, the only problem was the pants were too tight. I thought the suits were a lost cause until I found this place. I forgot the owner's name but he did an amazing job of using the extra material to stretch out the pants. The suits look great now and I felt his prices were very reasonable. Compared with the usual local dry cleaner tailoring work his work is incredible. My boyfriend and I recently started taking our clothes here for tailoring. I couldnt part with a beautiful Diane Von Furstenberg dress that ive had for years after it became too big for me. They took a size 8 dress down to a size 4. It was a costly ($100) garment change but I happy to pay it to be able to still wear my dress! They also have a FAST turn around should you need something hemmed quickly. My boyfriend frequently has his suits tailor over night and they turn out beautifully sown. An excellent craftsman. Efrain fixed a suit jacket that had been almost "tailored" beyond repair by someone I had tried first based on his positive yelp reviews. Would have been 5 stars but for the price. $130, Ouch. Better than scrapping a nice new suit though, which I almost had to do. read more

It was originally tailored at Men's Warehouse but the alterations were poorly done (the pants were too baggy, the jacket sleeve length was too long, the jacket collar was standing away) We heard about Escobars from our co worker and decided to try it out.
