Went in for an appointment on Thursday 8/20. We were assisted by Lissa. It was such an uncomfortable and negative experience. She made assumptions & comments about my daughter's style because she has tattoos. She said the dress she picked out at another boutique looked like a cocktail dress (and then said she could order w/10% discount). And the comments she made were out of earshot of me. I didn't find out until after we left. I was taking photos of her in a dress and she told me don't take them there take them here. Why can't I take photos from different angles? My daughter said she felt rushed. Not that it's required, but no offer of water or any beverage (like the other places we went). Maybe we were expecting too much. Nothing felt special. I'm glad we had such a great experience in Palo Alto (closer to where we live) and bought there. read more

I am so happy I chose Flare's to find my dream dress for our wedding! My soon-to-be sister-in-law had gotten her wedding dress at this same shop a few years ago, so I was confident that I would have a great experience. I was a little late on the dress hunt, having set my appointment only 7 months before the big day. Luckily Ray was reassuring that they will make it work, and my dress will be delivered and altered in time. I did the 2 hour VIP appointment, which was worth it for being able to bring my closest loved ones, and receiving the fabulous customer service from Ray. My VIP appointment came with a bottle of non-alcoholic champagne and macarons, which was so lovely!! Ray was the highlight of my Flares experience. I showed her just a few photos of my dress inspo, and she started pulling dresses for me to try. She chose THE dress after just 3 options! It was amazing how fast she can pick up what would look fantastic on me and fit my vision. Ray was so sweet and accommodating, and I would highly recommend her, and this shop! I did my first alteration fitting today, and will return in a month for the next fitting. Lissa was also super friendly and helped me set up my next appointment. Honestly the whole experience made me wish I'd never Purchased my dress from Flares. I had an appointment and brought my mom and grandma with me to dress shop. We were the only ones in the entire store, for over half of the duration of my appointment. One walk in and suddenly, I didn't exist. Lissa made the phones seem like they and the walk ins were her main priority. Only given the option to try on 4 dresses, even though it says nothing about a cap on how many a bride could try on while there with an appointment. I felt very rushed in the fitting rooms even though we were well within my time frame for the appointment and no one else was there. I did buy my dress here, but the following experience made me wish I hadn't. I was told that I could not bring anyone with me for dress pickup. I still brought my mom as she was kind enough to pay for it. While trying my dress on in the fitting room, I was promptly forgotten about and needed more help because they ordered a dress that was too small. It needed to be let out a few times with steam. There was one young lady that I can't remember her name but she was golden and deserves to be treated better in her field. She was kind and helpful with me and tried her best to help me in and out of my dress. Lissa was no help at all during this time and snapped at my mom multiple times, saying she was the professional and that she knew what she was doing. When I was asked if I was going to do my alterations at Flares and said no, it was an okay let's get you checked out and out of the shop now. For the price we paid for my dress, the customer service could use some major work for Lissa. I have recommended other bridal shops to friends and brides because of this poor experience here. If you want to be treated with dignity and respect as you look for your dress, go to Kinsley Couture in Walnut Creek and get an appointment. I really enjoyed my experience at Flare Bridal. I had an amazing assistant. I don't remember here name, but she helped me in and out of 5 different dresses. I went on a Friday with my MOH. Knocked off one star for a hidden fee when we got there. We paid $25 for 90 minutes, but when we got to their front desk, the receptionist said it's another $35 to have the appointment. I had an overall positive experience at this bridal shop, and I'm grateful I found such a beautiful dress. At the same time, I will always be honest about my experience. The biggest highlight was the consultant who helped me, Anyanna. She was absolutely wonderful - warm, joyful, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. She took the time to really listen to what I was looking for and offered thoughtful, individualized recommendations instead of just pulling random dresses. I never felt rushed, and she made the experience feel really special. She also happened to be there when I returned for my alterations appointment, and she was just as kind and attentive then. She truly made the experience. The boutique itself is also beautiful. It's clean, organized, filled with natural light, and they have a fantastic selection of gowns. The alterations seamstress was also very kind, offered helpful advice, and even gave me a discount, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, my interactions with some of the other staff, including the owner, were much less positive. I often found them to be unfriendly and not particularly welcoming. The biggest disappointment was when I came to pick up my dress. The consultant who had helped me originally was with another bride (which I completely understand), but none of the other employees offered to help me into my dress. My friend ended up lacing me into it while several staff members were chatting together at the front of the store. Even a quick offer to assist would have gone a long way. I also felt the owner was unnecessarily restrictive about bringing a friend to appointments, and when my mom expressed interest in trying on a dress herself, the interaction felt dismissive rather than welcoming. I completely understand that allowing walk-in dress try-ons may not be something the boutique offers, and I wasn't expecting an exception to be made. However, the way the interaction was handled left a sour taste in our mouths. A warmer or more accommodating response, even if the answer was still no, would have made a big difference. Because of the exceptional consultant - Anyanna, beautiful dress selection, and positive alterations experience, I would still recommend this boutique. I had such a positive experience at Flares bridal and am so happy to have found my dress here! The sales associate really listened to what i wanted and understood the vision I had. I only tried on 2 dresses and ended up picking the first one I tried. That said, I want to be honest that some of my subsequent appointments felt less positive compared to the first. When I scheduled the appointment to come in and try on the dress I chose for alterations, I was told I couldn't bring anyone with me. However, once I got there, the stylist told me I could always bring one person. Another family who was there with there bride offered to take photos for me but it made the appointment feel less special. They also only had one stylist who was trying to help all of the brides at once, so she was running around and I was waiting in the dressing room alone for awhile waiting for someone to help me with the dress. I do want to say though, that stylist was doing her best to juggle everyone and was super sweet! I also wasn't clear on the alterations process and just how many times I would need to go back to the store before taking the dress home. When I came back for my second appointment that alterations I was expecting hadn't been done so I was disappointed by that and just wish someone communicated the process better. I still want to give 5 stars though because i felt that my sales associate was so helpful and really pulled what I wanted. After shopping at different bridal shops, Flares was so AMAZINGG! Lissa was so helpful, patient, and kind with her guidance through the process. My appointment was early so there was no one else in the shop which made the appointment very intimate. There isn't a large selection of dresses but there is a significant amount of options that do not make it overwhelming like other places I visited. I liked that I was able to walk around, touch, and place tags they give me on the dresses I like to try on (many other shops the dresses were pre-selected for me). I never imagined I would be writing this review. Over 10 years ago, I bought my prom dress from Flares Bridal. My mother purchased her wedding dress here as well just 6 months ago. Because of those positive experiences, I trusted them with one of the most important purchases of my life: my wedding dress. Unfortunately, my experience ended in heartbreak. The alterations cost approximately $800. On my wedding day, the back of my dress would not stay together. I have video footage showing the dress coming undone while I was walking down the aisle. Throughout the evening, I repeatedly had to stop and re-hook my dress because it would not stay intact. Instead of focusing on my husband, my family, and celebrating our wedding, I was worried about whether my dress was falling apart. I provided the bridal shop with video evidence and explained exactly what happened. Their response was that they would refund only the hooks. The problem is that I don't know what actually failed. I don't know whether the hooks were installed improperly, whether the dress was altered too tightly, or whether another aspect of the alterations contributed to the issue. All I know is that the alterations did not function properly on the day they were supposed to. To make matters worse, I was never given an itemized receipt. My receipt simply states "Alterations $800." When they offered to refund only the hooks, there was no documentation showing what portion of the $800 was actually for the hooks versus the rest of the alteration work. The emotional impact of having your wedding dress come apart on your wedding day is difficult to describe. What makes this even more disappointing is that this was not a first-time customer relationship. I returned because I trusted them and because of my family's history with the business. Mistakes happen. What matters is how a business responds when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, I did not feel that the response matched the seriousness of what occurred. I had a truly devastating experience at Flare's in Walnut Creek. I'm a 2026 bride and already went to David's Bridal, but I wanted to explore other options. Flare's had been recommended as "plus size friendly" with extensive plus size options, so my maid of honor set up an appointment, emailed them my size, and sent images of the styles I liked--simple, elegant dresses, not lace or jewels. When I arrived, it was clear that none of this information had been communicated. The owner told me they did not carry my size but that I could "hold dresses up to get an idea." I was humiliated watching other brides get to try on dresses while I was basically told they could not help me. The one dress that fit me was completely opposite of the style I wanted. The owner, Lisa, did give me the number of another shop, and she eventually waived the fitting fee--but this could have been handled over the phone, and the entire experience felt humiliating and avoidable. The staff seemed inexperienced or uncommunicative, and the store's advertised size inclusivity is misleading. I left in tears and felt devastated. If you are plus size, I cannot recommend this store. Brides deserve to feel excited and supported on what should be one of the happiest days of their life--Flare's fell far short of that. read more

I do not recommend this place. I went with my daughter, and we were treated rudely from the start. There was a communication issue regarding payment. Immediately when we arrived, we were asked for payment. My daughter was under the impression that she had already paid and was kindly trying to get clarification. Instead of explaining the situation, the lady rudely kept saying, "It explains it on our website. I need your card." She repeatedly directed us to the website and demanded payment rather than taking the time to explain it herself. Then, my daughter needed to use the restroom before trying on dresses, but they would not let her go because they were rushing her to get started. We were told that we could only select four dresses to try on, and then they would decide what we could try next. While we were selecting the four dresses, we were told to hurry because we had already used five minutes of our appointment time. The entire process felt rushed. Even while my daughter was trying on each dress, we were repeatedly told that we needed to move on to the next dress. We paid for a 90-minute appointment slot, yet we were told our appointment was finished after only 60 minutes. We also were not offered water, whereas we were offered water at other bridal stores. The other bridal stores we visited made us feel like they genuinely cared about our experience and, most importantly, about the bride. Unfortunately, this place felt very different. It felt like they didn't really care about the bride's experience and simply wanted the business. I also noticed that in response to some of the previous negative reviews, the owner claimed that the reviews were fake. After our experience, that made me question the overwhelmingly positive reviews as well. I personally do not understand how this place has a five-star rating based on the experience we had. During my appointment, Lessa was the only one working. From the start, everything was cold from her welcome, to her hands and my overall experience wedding dress shopping here. Lessa stated multiple times that I had a 45 min appointment and I could try on 4 dresses, which she would choose herself. The phone kept ringing and she was distracted with answering the phone while trying to "help" me. She also told me I couldn't choose any dresses and I couldn't touch the dresses on the rack. She was aggressive about my budget which I didn't feel comfortable or confident sharing with her. I honestly think she needs more training to change her customer service approach and attitude. I felt disconnected from the start and rushed the whole time I was there. I did like one dress and honestly, if her attitude wasn't so dismissive, I would have bought the dress. I am having such a great experience with Flares bridal. I was a little nervous about finding the right dress since I was looking for a plus size dress. They have a great dress selection, there was no problem finding plenty to try on. This was the third shop I had been to so I explained to Lissa what I had liked and not liked about other dresses. She picked out some great dresses. The very first one ended up taking everything I liked about previous dresses and rolled it all up in one dress. She also made some suggestions on how I could do some alterations to make it exactly what I wanted. I never felt rushed about trying on the dresses and no pressure to buy that day. I was able to go back at a later day to try the first dress once again and that's when I decided that it was the one. I just had my first dress fitting for alterations there as well. The tailor listened to all that I wanted, got the dress pinned and marked up. I can't wait for my 2nd fitting next month. read more

I had a wonderful experience finding my wedding dress at Flares. The boutique itself is clean, bright, and filled with natural light, which makes the whole experience feel calm and special. They have a beautiful and thoughtfully curated selection, including several European designers, and you can really tell there's a strong appreciation for both design and quality. That mattered a lot to me given the price point, and I felt the pricing was reasonable compared to overall bridal dress budgets and the craftsmanship offered. The boutique is owned by two kind sisters who were warm and welcoming throughout the process. Since choosing my dress, I've been back to try on veils and for my first fitting, and everything so far has been smooth and positive. One small heads-up for future brides: make sure your try-on appointment is fully confirmed with a confirmation email. Their booking system isn't the most seamless--I experienced a test payment without the appointment actually being booked and only learned this upon arriving, which meant rebooking. Thankfully, things have gone well since then. Overall, a great experience with lovely people, beautiful gowns, and high-quality pieces.
