Working with Macario at Kinsley Couture Bridal was one of the absolute highlights of my wedding planning. From the moment we walked in, he made my elderly mom and my bridal party feel completely welcome and cared for. His warmth and professionalism set the tone for the entire appointment. I came in with only a few words to describe what I wanted -- "lace and mermaid, and not matronly or doily" -- and he understood immediately. Every gown he pulled matched exactly what I had in mind. What stood out most was how quickly he picked up on my tendency to not want to disappoint anyone. He gently reminded me, "the dresses don't have feelings, so let me know what you like and what you don't like," which instantly took all the pressure off and made the experience fun and relaxed. We tried on four gowns, and incredibly, I ended up torn between two of his picks. He never rushed me or pushed me toward a decision. I ultimately found the dress, and the entire ordering process was seamless. Even though I live in San Diego, choosing Kinsley was the best decision -- my family is in NorCal, and pickup and payment were easy and straightforward when the gown arrived. Omg. We loved our visit to Kinsley Couture! The decor inside immediately welcomed us and put the bride to be at ease for this monumental appointment. Nicole was our hostess and she sat with the bride to be to understand in detail what types of dresses she would be interested in trying on. She had a trainee working with her and it was great. They served champagne, water and a light snack, which was a nice touch. Nicole was able to help the bride to be narrow down a few choices. I WAS CHARGED 1000$ EXTRA FOR CUSTOMIZATIONS AND THE TOP OF DRESS DID NOT FiT. Kinsley James took my measurements, I verified the size, but the store manager insisted they never ordered anything but a B-cup for their dresses, Another 1500$ spent on Alterations could not fix the improper size and proportions of the top. Most of my wedding photos have a large bouquet covering the top of my dress. I would advise against a custom dress from their manufacturers or trusting their staff who were more concerned with tacking on fees and extras. I waited to review my dress, and hope this helps any bride he needs a tailored or custom fit to her dress. read more

Kelsey was absolutely wonderful!! I was a little hesitant about my appointment because I saw a couple bad reviews, but I wanted to go here specifically because they carried Anne Barge. Kelsey understood my vision and brought beautiful dresses for me to try on that captured the look I was going for. I had emailed them prior to my appt with my dress size and the styles I liked. I was able to try on about 8 dresses and I found 2 that I loved - within my desired budget. We were offered champagne to sip during our appt which definitely settled my nerves. The store itself is very spacious and has great lighting so you are able to take photo and video with great lighting to see how the dresses photograph. We were able to accomplish a lot in 90 minutes. They also don't charge for the first appointment which is a plus. There's a garage behind the shop that has free parking for 4 hours. Overall I had a very pleasant experience and would recommend to a fellow bride. read more

I had the worst experience at Flares Bridal for my first shopping experience ever, and wondered aimlessly hoping there was maybe just one chance there would be an opening in a boutique close by. We saw Kinsley couture was open and walked in. Instantly met with the brightest "hellos" and smiles from the consultants. Julia, my hero, was at the desk by the door, greeted us so warmly and asked if we had an appointment. We explained our situation and she was so eager to help turn my day around! Y'all when I say I had a few inspiration pictures and some insecurities about trying on wedding dresses for the first time- I mean it. I cannot stress enough how wonderful Kinsley Couture made the entire process for finding my dream wedding dress. From setting up an online appointment and sending over styles that I wanted to try, it was very easy to communicate with them by phone or email. my stylist was amazing , went in told her my favorite designer which was Galia Lahav, brought me a dress from that designer but it was out of my budget range so she took it out . Store Manager comes in very rudely asks why the dress was outside the dressing room , stylist told her out of budget . Took the stylist out of the room both were whispering right outside the curtain which was very rude to me. found a dress I liked ordered it. Changed my mind when I got home , spoke with one of the stylist and she told me to come back in and choose another dress since they haven't placed the order yet . Went back there and store manager was at the front doesn't greet me .. right away asks me what happened to the dress you ordered and I told her I had changed my mind we went way off of what I was looking actually looking for , showed her inspo off her THEIR WEBSITE she told me she didn't have one of the dresses I showed her and it was funny cause on the rack it was right behind me . and so I showed her another of my inspo pics and she says you're not gonna like that one because it's $9,000 way out of your budget .. I didn't know if you're not a celebrity or rich you'd get treated like that but the crazy part is that my budget was $6,000 and lower but if I really liked that dress I definitely would've bought that dress for $9,000 . She ended up telling me I couldn't choose another dress and that if I did choose another dress it had to be from the same designer and I was like okay that's not what the girl said on the phone but show me the dresses then . She had a stylist put me in the worst dresses from the designer, I ended up keeping my same dress just custom making it and removing and doing a lot of stuff to it to make it better($6,500) , got my dress finally and everything was fine. I just feel like the store needs a new manager someone more friendly , actually cares about the customer. I'm not sure if it's because we spoke spanish or the way we were dressed but I definitely felt uncomfortable and unwelcomed and poor not to her liking. I don't remember her name but stylists were definitely scared of her and I can tell she is a micromanager. Working in sales and being a stylist myself for 7 years , if you really want to sell never judge a person by their skin color or the way they look always be friendly treat people with respect and kindness. I wanted to like this shop, especially since it was my first bridal dress try-on appointment, and I wanted my friends to enjoy it too. We were asked to wait while someone else finished up, so we went to Starbucks as suggested. Later, the staff at Kinsley seemed abrupt and claimed we were late, which was frustrating because they had recommended Starbucks, where ordering and waiting for drinks takes time. While I appreciate the extra time we eventually received, clearer communication upfront would have been preferable to avoid inconveniencing the staff. The lady who assisted me with my fitting was lovely and dedicated to helping me find the perfect dress. However, I couldn't help but notice they seemed friendlier to another bride-to-be who was there at the same time. Overall, I left feeling disappointed with the experience since I received poor customer service from the manager, whose demeanor was uncomfortable. Came dress shopping here and the service didn't disappoint. You can set an appointment through their website in which it's free to have an appointment (so long as you honor it and don't cancel last minute.) When at the store, they offered champagne and water in which that was surprising. The workers there are all super kind and helpful too. Just fair warning though that if you bring someone, only one person in a party can browse dresses. Which...I'm not sure why that is. Also, bear in mind the online site inventory doesn't match the in-store inventory. I had bookmarked a dress online but when I got to the shop, they said that inventory hadn't been updated and the one I saw was from a couple years ago. So unfortunately looking on their website for their inventory isn't reliable. My suggestion is to just give them a description/silhouette of what you're looking for. Value wise, oh man. Pricey. Their website offered some at $2500 or so, but nowadays they're about $3000+. In turn, I found a dress I really liked, but couldn't go with without destroying my budget and the dress wasn't as feasible as I hoped for. Fun fact: they carry the designers that Taylor Swift uses. I've waited a long time to write this review but I think brides like me should be warned before going to this place. The stylist name was James I think, don't ever request him (picture attached). 1. Communication with them via email about my appt was terrible. Everything felt automated with a little personal information. I specifically asked if they carried all the dresses shown online & I was told they did & to let them which ones I was interested in. I also asked if they could steer me toward the dresses that were within my budget. From their initial email they stated their dresses ranged from 3k-10k. So I really wanted to make sure I didn't choose out of price range. Again, all I got back was to just look online followed by more automated emails. I finally just sent them a list that I liked prior also confirming that they were within my price range. They totally disregarded my price range question and said they will add these to my appt. 2. When they called to confirm my appt they asked if I had a preference of a woman stylist or man. I immediately asked for a woman. I never at any point said I wanted a man. 3. When I got there, they were nice but I was only with my mom because at this point of my dress shopping, I have already been to 5 places and I knew what I was looking for so I just wanted my mom. They seemed to belittle me only because I had one person. 4. This guy checked me in and got our champagne. I thought ok, he must just be getting us ready for my actual stylist to come over! But NOPE I was wrong! They put me with a guy. And sadly I didn't feel like I wanted to make a scene and ask for a girl as there weren't many people working there that day. So I was already extremely uncomfortable being NAKED in a room with this guy! My fault for not speaking up but their fault for not listening to my request. 5. He asked me about my budget and what I was looking for and I told him specifically what I wanted & the highest I would go for my budget. Mind you I wanted to look at their 3k-4k dresses. Nothing higher. 6. He went to grab a ton of dresses to try on. Great! Again, extremely uncomfortable having to get naked with him in the room and how he helped me put on my dress was in no way like how any other place I've been to felt. I honestly felt violated. 7. He finally put me in a dress that I fell in love with. I was about to say yes and FaceTime my girls when my mom just simply asked how much it was... that's when he said 7K!!!! 7K!?!? No offense, BUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU! You put me in a dress WAY above my price range!? For them to do this to a bride is completely unacceptable. I immediately told him no and I needed to get out of this dress. 8. So then I proceeded to ask about the 7 dresses I emailed them about. He said he only had maybe 3 in stock and 2 were above my price range. At this point he also started to give us attitude and that we weren't worth his time. I asked to try on the one dress they had. Mind you, I also asked about all the dresses in the 3k range. He told us that he doesn't work with those dresses very often making me feel like I'm poor and worthless. When we go back to the fitting room, he then started to ask where I lived and worked. And I very much hated him at this point and was very proud to say I work and live in Walnut Creek. I was not going to be belittled by this man. 9. When he brought the last dress, it was in the absolute worst condition. Barely held up and he put it on me looking at it like it was trash. Kept making comments how he doesn't work with these dresses often. At that point, I just wanted to get out this place. So we finally left and couldn't believe the experience we had. I was so thankful that I had other good experiences to know this place was absolute TRASH! I would never recommend someone going there unless your budget is 10k and you will spend all the money. I was not expecting to buy my wedding dress when I went to Kinsley James this past Saturday. I'm the type of person who wants to try on hundreds of dresses before I select The One. But by the third dress I tried on, I knew in my heart of hearts that I found it! Nazila was my consultant and she was a dream to work with! I came with my mom, my sister, my fiancés mom and his sister. We are a big group and with many opinions. Nazila knew exactly when to jump in with her professional opinion and when to give us space as a group to talk through our thoughts. In the fitting room, she gave me her opinion on options/customizations and asked how I felt. Throughout my experience, I knew she listened to my thoughts and feedback. She pulled other dresses that fit what I was looking for. I was well over my 90 min appointment slot but she didn't rush me at all. I really only realized 15 minutes after my appointment ended how much time we've spent (oops!). Thank you Nazila for making our experience so fun! Kinsley Bridal in Walnut Creek is a lovely store with a variety of fabulous dresses. However, I was disappointed when visiting with my soon-to-be-bride friend. We were greeted nicely upon arrival, and Macario took the time at the start by asking my friend questions to understand the style and details of dress she was looking for, no doubt so he could make some relevant recommendations. He also asked my friend's budget, which was $2500, and then went off to pull some dresses. After an hour and seven beautiful dresses later, we asked Macario the prices of the two dresses that were the finalists. We were appalled when he shared they were priced at $4000+ and $10,000+*. I asked which of the dresses he pulled for us was within the budget, and he said "the second one"... meaning only one of the dresses fell within my friend's budget. This means we wasted time trying on six dresses that were not an option for her. *To be fair, my friend did ask to try on the dress that ended up being $10,000+; however, in this scenario, given the budget was specifically discussed ahead of time, it would have been nice for him to disclose proactively that it **significantly** over her budget. Then, my friend could at least manage her expectations if she decided to try on the dress. read more

Update: The owner called me apologetically and offered to cover my alterations cost minus fabric ($1800). I deliberated for a day before accepting. I would have appreciated them doing some level of this earlier. My initial response was "too little, too late". Past the initial stage, it was never about financial compensation. But the phone call and compensation does make me feel better about the entire situation, so I decided to accept. I don't want my wedding to have such a sad memory. The owner says she's committed towards making sure that other brides don't go through the same experience I did and retraining the staff. I hope that does happen, so no bride ever goes through an adversarial negotiation. Wedding dresses are big part of an important day to a couple, and this is not the extra stress that any bride should have to endure. Original Review: If you spend $13K on a dress, you expect a luxury experience: attention, professionalism, and peace of mind. They messed up my measurements, refused to bear the cost of their mistake, and repeatedly broke promises to help make it better. I spent an additional $2,200 for alterations when the average cost is $150-$600. Beware if you hear: "if anything goes wrong, this can all be altered!" Why are you getting something custom fit if you fork out an additional 2K in alterations? 1. Initially I spent $10,800: $8,930 on my dress, $1870 for a topper. When they measured my topper, they didn't measure the arm hole. They said it wasn't necessary even after asking. It was! 2. I ordered my dress in Jan 2021. Due to pandemic shipping problems, it didn't arrive mid-Aug but mid-Sep. No one warned me of a shipping delay until I proactively asked. I had only 1.5 months for alterations. (Google: "you should come in for your fitting two months in advance, not less than 1 month before".) My Oct 2021 wedding was delayed due to COVID, and there was no way that I would have been able to solve the subsequent fiasco if the wedding had taken place on the original date. 3. Sept 2021: My measurements changed. The bust increased by 1-2 cm, and the waist increased by 4cm. But the dress was gaping open at the back 4-5 inches and wouldn't close. I insisted they measured incorrectly, since I hadn't gained weight. Apparently, the dress has no affordances: "it has to be tight or else it won't look nice". (Google: most dresses should let out 1-2 inches from seams). The initial salesperson said I had nothing to worry about. They would find a solution, and she found this case surprising. 4. Nov 2021: I was given 3 options: (a) The designer adds more panels for a cost cost. (b) The designer replaces the corset entirely for $3080. The owner offered to cover 20% (saves $616). (c) A seamstress adds a lace-up corset to the back for cheaper. (c) was out of the question. It changed the design of a $11K dress. I was unhappy with all choices, so they said they would keep trying to figure something out. 5. They spent Sept 2021 to October 2022 "discussing with the designer", only to leave me in the same position. The new idea was to have the seamstress get fabric from the designer and add the panels. This idea took a year! I felt like I was backed into a corner to pick this option, since there were still no other solutions offered. 6. Nov 2022: When I went to my first fitting, I was insulted by the store manager who asked me if I had lost any weight hopefully, as if that was the solution they had been searching for a year. Unhappy that a year later, I would be expected to bear the full cost, I asked them to honor the offer to cover 20% of the corset cost. This was verbally accepted. The alterations were supposed to be significantly cheaper. I wasn't necessarily looking for a discount, but some sort of acknowledgement of my frustration. 7. Mar 2023: After the alterations finished, they do not want to pay the 20% cost of the alterations ($360). They supposedly halved the cost of fabric, which was not communicated to me when I paid for the fabric, so I can't trust that. I paid $2218 for alterations which was not significantly cheaper than if I had picked (b) costing $2464. This was the last straw: I had so many back and forth email conversations & phone calls, drove from SF to Walnut Creek too many times, to end up with the same outcome if I had not gone through the entire ordeal. read more

TLDR: I've been to both locations in Walnut Creek & West Hollywood. Service is the BEST I've had at any bridal boutiques I've been to, and they both have wide selections of gowns! The owners/sisters, Amber and Dawn, run a tight ship and honestly they deserve ALL the success in the world!! Full story: - The first time I visited KJ WC, I was stuck in awful SF traffic and ran 20+ min late (I kid you not I left an hour and half before the appointment from the peninsula to pick up a friend in SF, and somehow 90 min still wasn't enough to get to the East Bay that day, lol). I was so apologetic when I arrived and wouldn't be upset at all if they cut my appointment short. Not only did they not do that, but also my bridal stylist, Passion, and the manager, Maxine, came over to greet us and got us water/champagne right away. I put down a deposit the next day - I was initially set on a Galia Lahav dress, but became hesitant due to some recent controversies around the brand (lots of quality and fit issues on IG / TikTok / Reddit where girls had to send their dresses back to Israel multiple times to get them fixed, dresses come in a few sizes too small despite the same measurements, some middlemen who operated the GL flagship in China semi-ran away). The store manager, Maxine, took the time to reassure me that they will 100% make sure my dress comes in fine and won't have any issues if I go with Galia. My bridal stylist, Passion, has been nothing but SO patient and kind to me despite me being incredibly indecisive. She's also amazing at pulling styles that truly suit me and are what I am looking for! - I ended up deciding against Galia Lahav because it's way too big of a risk to take imho. KJ owners being super close to Galia and her family doesn't change the fact that Galia is struggling with internal management issues (unless you are Simone Biles lol; her Galia dresses fit her like a glove cuz they 100% had their best seamstresses work on them). KJ can do everything "right" by providing you great service and measuring you correctly, but when a dress is made wrong including its boning and corset, you either have to send it back to Israel, or spend a ton on alterations. Usually the proportions and fit will be completely off if you are making big alterations, which has happened to other brides before. - Ultimately, I picked a Netta Benshabu dress that I love just as much!! I also feel a lot better given that Netta has standard sizing and her runway samples already fit me like a glove. Most importantly, both Maxine and Passion worked so hard with Netta & her team to make sure the dress is still within my budget of $10k. I am so beyond grateful for their outstanding service and excited that I said yes to my dress. I might even get a reception dress here if I find something else I love!! :) read more

I have a really hard time writing a not great review but I want to be honest about my experience. I spent a lot of time researching salons and ultimately wish I went to another salon in the city instead. I found my dress! I got the feeling. It wasn't the dress I was looking for but the one that felt right. Unfortunately the person I worked with didn't offer to have me take a picture with the "I said yes," sign, I had to ask to do that at a later alterations appointment. My alterations were to lower the whole neckline since it was rather high, make sure the chest was small enough (I have a very small chest) and add length since I am tall. I bought my dress extremely far in advance to make sure there was plenty of time for production and alterations. It was the month my dress was supposed to be ready and I hadn't heard from Kinsley Couture. I emailed them and then found out there was a problem with my dress. The designer ended up forgetting to add length to the dress, and it had to go back into production, which meant I had a very short amount of time for alterations. This is the designers fault and not the fault of Kinsley Couture. When the dress finally arrived I tried it on and the chest was very large (I had requested an AA cup). They had also altered the dress to give it a v-neck. They dropped the center part of the neckline but not the whole thing which was my request. This is an extremely different look on a dress that had such a focus on the neckline. I tried to have alterations make it less noticeable, but there was beading along the edge, which ended up being a very expensive fix. When I went into alterations I was told that it was going to be nearly impossible to reduce the size of the chest, and that padding should be added to fill it out instead. This made me feel really uncomfortable to think about doing (going from an AA to a C cup). I've also seen dresses that have huge gapping in the chest and I did not want that look. I really had to stand up for myself and try to find a workaround with the tailor to get closer to what I was looking for. In the end there still ended up being some padding in the chest, and work done to the back and sides of the bodice to tighten. The bodice was lace which also made it even more difficult and extremely expensive to alter. From a personal level, I got along with the tailor well-it seemed like they were trying to be realistic about what was possible, but I wish I didn't feel like I was stuck with the dress as-is. There was never an in person apology or offer for a discount on any services, accessories, etc. I ended up buying a pricey veil and other accessories at the salon after the fact. I should've made a request but at that point I was really hoping they would try to make up for it themselves. In the end alterations were almost the cost of my dress. At that point I wish I would've gone to a different salon or spent more money on a different dress. read more

I made an appointment at Kinsley James during the Galia Lahav trunk show since their dresses were part of my top 3 choices when I tried them in LA. I made an appointment online through their website. Then they send you a few emails confirming your appointment & detailing their COVID protocol. When we first entered the store, my fiance & I were immediately greeted and seated at our designated couch. My consultant was Marissa King who took the first 10 minutes listening to what I was looking for, reviewing my pictures, and then searching the racks for the dresses I wanted to try + similar styles. I think I tried on at least 10 dresses at my first appointment and with each dress, Marissa was able to really hone in on my style & give me real advice which I appreciate so much! You can tell she has a great eye for fashion & that this is her calling based on her recommendations and the way she provides her profession opinion. At the end of the first appointment, we narrowed down my choices to two dresses and left feeling truly cared for as a customer. Marissa followed up via email and helped set up a follow-up appointment about a month later when I was ready to make my final decision. Although I did not end up choosing a Galia Lahav dress, my fiance & I agreed this was one of the best experiences we had at a wedding store. We never felt pressured to purchase a dress or that Marissa was giving us a sales pitch. Beautiful dresses, awesome employees, they serve water and champagne, super flexible. They carry Gahlia Lahav and many other exclusive brands. No need to venture out into the dirty streets of SF for a posh experience. Carly assisted me and she was so pleasant. She stayed within my budget, she was so knowledgeable and did her absolute best to help me get something at a great price! Love their trunk shows - so sad I wasn't able to find my dress here. I made an appointment for my daughter Kelsey. Maxine was extremely accommodating and I was honest about my price point. She assured me they have sample dresses and some $ 3k dresses. They greeted us with warmth and a drink the moment we walked in. She tried on several dresses with Priti. Priti was the BEST. She was warm and took her time and was patient. A Total Sweetheart ! She knew which ones looked good and which ones were a thumbs down. Kelsey's 3rd or 4th try on was the Dress. It was from the sample rack. Price was great and fit was perfect. We decided to do some shopping and have lunch and think about it just to be certain. We came back about 4 hours later. Maxine and Priti thought it was a good idea to try it on one more time and it was a match. Maxine even steamed some areas to make sure the creases would come out. We had such a nice experience. I also assumed everything at Kinsley would be out of my price range and too "NY fashion week" for my style. I had to much fun trying on all sorts of styles and shades. After a few dresses, my MOH's mom suggested I try on an off the shoulder dress. I loved it but it felt a little fancy for the wedding vibe I anticipated. Enter the slimmer Naomi dress by Blue Willow and the option to add a slit for my mid June Sacramento wedding. The dress was perfect, and I was able to get all my jewelry through Kinsley as well. I found my dream dress at Kinsley James! Amy was so helpful throughout my initial visit, taking the time to get to know me and understand the vision of my wedding day. I ended up falling in love with my dream dress, thanks to Amy, and it wasn't anything I originally imagined I'd like. KJ also connected me with a seamstress, who was amazing. I also left my earrings there by accident, which they kept in an envelope for months until I returned back for my next appointment. Kinsley Couture was the first stop of my wedding dress search. Leading up to the appointment, I had nerves about how it would go and anticipated that it may be somewhat stressful. Immediately upon walking through the door, the staff at Kinsley were warm and made me & my family feel right at home. The best part of the experience was having Emily as our stylist for the day.
