So many pluses for this place: 1) Homemade ice cream 2) Fairly reasonable prices, relatively speaking 3) Not far from where I live 4) Apple cider donut sundae...yes, really 5) Usually plenty of windows open for service Slight minus for the parking situation. In all the years I have been coming here it's just been a huge open lot where people park any which way, so when the place is mobbed parking is chaotic. I hope some day they will consider spray painting lines so the lot is more organized. Many moons ago they used to give doggy ice cream, but I can't say for sure if they still do. At the end of summer they sometimes have B1G1 quarts of ice cream, so be sure to ask before it's all gone until April. read more

Over priced ice cream and the parking lot is littered with pot holes. What a joke! With the robbery of the high prices, you can't pave a new parking lot? And they're cute with the posting of signs saying "rough surface,". No kidding! Maybe time to set up a Go Fund Me page for them to put in a new parking lot. Love this place. Their Creamsicle ice cream is just absolutely the best! Their buttered almond crunch and mocha almond are also favorites. Just about anything in the store is good depending on what your taste is for. I'll stop in and buy a couple of pints and bring it home or give it to friends as gifts. Yummy! read more

It's hit-or-miss here. Most of the time it's pretty good, but there's a problem with the ice cream occasionally being way, way too soft, to the point where you'd say it's melted. When my wife and I went here a couple of weeks ago, I got a cup of some flavor, I think it was strawberry cheesecake, and it was a soupy mess. It didn't even come close to holding together in what would appear to be scoops of ice cream, although the ice cream my wife had was very good. Then we went again a few days ago, and this time mine was okay but my wife's, I think it was caramel cashew crunch, was totally melted. If fixing the freezers is too much to ask, then the people serving the ice cream should at least warn customers up front when the selected flavor is very soft, giving the customer a chance to make a different selection. read more

The staff was very friendly. The ice cream flavors are okay but some are weak in flavor. My husband got a vanilla based peanut butter flavor and it didn't taste of much. My buttered almond was okay. My daughter's mint chip was delicious and different since it was pink instead of the expected green. My son's peanut butter oreo was great too. It's not a bad place to stop. We'll try it again sometime because I definitely want to try the house made lime rickeys. read more

Erickson's has some of the best ice cream I've ever had, anywhere, anytime, anyplace. It blows J.P. Lick's out of the water! Erickson's is a small roadside stop right on the border between Maynard and Stow. Park in the gravel parking lot, just wherever as long as it's kind of in line with everyone else. Walk up to the window and enjoy the deliciousness. Look to your left and you'll see another structure where they make the ice cream fresh. This is a great place to bring your dogs because they have free doggie ice cream! They take all the bottoms of the barrels, mix them together, and use them to feed to the doggies. They even put a little doggie treat on top :) It's definetly worht the 40 min drive out here from Boston for this ice cream, though sadly it's probably closed for the season already :( read more

Every flavor is terrific, and their Banana Ice Cream and their Butter Pecan Ice Cream is the only that I've ever had anywhere that is just like Mom used to make. I love this place. It isn't that quality of the ice cream is so good...it is fine, not exemplary. It isn't that the flavors are unparalleled. They aren't. It is just that I have been coming here since I was but a wee tot and to me, there is no better place to go for ice cream on a hot summer night than Erickson's. Love Eriksons! Great family owned ice cream shop with what feels like a hundred different flavors and combinations. Explore the ice cream flavors, but don't forget to check out the soft serve too! Staff is extremely friendly and willing to explain what each flavor means. Bring your furry kids with you because they even have a little dog treat with vanilla ice cream for dogs. They have lots of picnic tables so make it an outing for everyone, just being the bug spray of its after 5. Hours of operation are a bit of a mystery though. On google it says they are open noon-8pm, but called Sunday night after July 4th and they were open until 930. Another night we pulled up and they were promptly closing at 9. Yes, there will probably be a small horde of people there when you go, but just go. The ice cream is delicious, you can get some for your pooch, the staff is lovely and no summer is complete without at least one trip here. The only downside is that the parking lot has sort of a Mad Max feel to it, so just be careful in there if you're driving. Now go get some ice cream. read more

Really, really splendid stuff. I got a soft serve twist cone and it was the best soft serve I've ever had. My nieces got the "green monster" flavor, and I'm surprised this isn't a flavor someone else thought of first. It was great. They even had a free treat for my dog. The only reason I'm not giving them five stars is the chaotic parking and that they only accept cash. Stopped in here on a creative route on a drive home from work this afternoon. It was surprisingly busy for a rainy Wednesday at 430 so I can only imagine it must get swamped on a nice night. The amount of flavors was average but there were a few creative selections I had not seen anywhere else before including toasted walnut fudge, wintergreen chip and black & tan. I ended up opting for the brownie batter and I was not disappointed although I would more call it half cooked brownie instead of batter. The chocolate base it was in was good although not amazing, but the brownie goo laced into is was amazing. Not too rich and not too much to make the flavor overpowering. I ordered a kiddie and it was actually pretty tiny so I would say a small would be in order next time I go here. The parking lot was pretty beat up leaving me wishing I had taken my Jeep and not my Mini, but you live and learn. I didn't see any picnic tables or grassy area to enjoy your ice cream in so I think its an eat in your car experience here. read more
