I was driving through the area and heard this is the plane to stop for ice cream. We stopped in on a Thursday night around 8pm and the plane was packed! Lines went quick and there is a good selection to choose from. I had a kiddie cup of chocolate chip cookie dough (chocolate based) and my husband had a think chocolate shake. It was about $17 for both- which I think is a bit on the high side for the amount that was given. I did really enjoy mine and my husband said the thick shake wasn't very thick- I tried it myself and it seemed more like chocolate milk. For the amount of people I wish they had more seating options. read more

I've been coming to Erikson's since I was about 2 years old, and it's still one of my favorite ice cream places anywhere. They have a huge menu of flavors, incredible sundaes, and great service. Most of the employees are high school kids and they do a fantastic job. Also, Erikson's just has that great feel of an old time New England ice cream stand. They've been around for almost 100 years, and for good reason. Try the fresh raspberry sundae with vanilla ice cream or the green monsta (mint ice cream, Oreos, chocolate chips, and cookie dough). Just how I remember it. Old school drive-in ice cream as it should be. I missed a couple of summers due to Covid, but otherwise this is an annual summer treat. They always have tons of flavors and special seasonal flavors. They also have sorbets, sherbets and vegan ice creams. Stopped by here as part of a motorcycle ride and were not disappointed. Pretty sure I had based it a hundred times and never had the opportunity to stop. I'm so glad we did finally. I went out of my comfort zone and ordered the maple walnut with caramel sauce and was in heaven. portion sizes were larger than expected but not to the point of being unable to finish it. This is one of the best ice cream shops in Massachusetts. The ice cream is rich and then have TONS of flavors, including some you can't find at other places. The servings are big, so make sure you know what size you're ordering or it will be hard to finish. I wish I could write a great review here, having enjoyed Erickson's on and off for about 50 years. I don't live here anymore but mom does. We finished dinner w just enough time to get there before the posted closing time of 9. Rolled into a black parking lot and looked at a black building. Had we known we would of come earlier. Yum!! I was recommended to try Ericksons by a local and wow their ice cream was delicious! They have a big lot for parking and offer some tables on the left side in case you wanna sit down and enjoy your ice cream. Line forms behind each window and napkins and hand sanitizer was available at the counter. We got the frappe cookies and cream and a small almond joy. Def might want to get the kids size next time since I couldn't finish the small.. But it was all super yummy. Can't wait to stop by again and try other flavors! read more

Overpriced with ridiculously small servings. We also asked for a large and a small. We were charged for a large and a small, but given two smalls. When we asked for clarification, the employee said I'll fix it and proceeded to snatch the erroneous small cup, toss it in the garbage, and create a whole new one. What an incredible waste of ice cream. We also asked for a cone, but we already felt guilty about wasted ice cream, and there didn't seem to be much interest in getting it right. Ridiculously overpriced for what it is, particularly when there are much better options out there. Massive disappointment. read more

Erikson's is a great place for an ice cream pit stop. Their non-fruity flavors is probably the better the better choice as those options are on the creamier side and smoother. Their fruity flavors tend to be more on the icy side than creamy. It's not a bad thing and I quite enjoyed it, but it's not a favorite if I'm comparing this place to Rota Springs or Uhlman's, which sport much creamier versions. You can also tell that the fruity flavors are more of a puree-base as opposed to having real fruit in them; there's just something artificial about those flavors. My favorites here were their specials on the menu: tollhouse cookie and coffee fudge brownie. To at least review the coffee ice cream since it's the most easily comparable, I would say that the flavor itself is strong and good but it's lacking if I'm to compare to other local shops throughout central MA. While I emphasized this with the fruity flavors, the non-fruity flavors are not excluded from the slightly icy texture and lack that creamier texture is probably something you'll find elsewhere. That being said, it's not bad. The flavors are strong enough to make up for it. Overall, this is a great place if you happen to be in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but I would stop by if I had the option to. It's a cute little place that serves up ice cream to the neighborhood and I'm all about supporting local. Some picnic tables out back. And a cool cow patterned fence. They actually ha w wet wipes in addition to napkins. Big variety of flavors. Lots of rotating flavors. Pricing is kinda high. Erikson's is another seasonal New England ice cream stand that has stood the test of time. It has a ton of homemade ice cream flavors, and like most all of the New England ice cream stands, the portions are quite generous. A major plus of this location is that they accept credit cards, as many other ice cream stands are cash-only. They also allow you to get more than one flavor in a small, which is typically only an option if you opt for a large at competitor ice cream stands. My girlfriend and I live in Boston and stumbled onto this place accidentally when visits our friends community garden in Stow. Ordered two smalls in a cup. Woman in next line had ordered a cup also, I asked her what size she had, she replied a small. It was twice the size of the our " smalls ". I brought this to the attention of the server and her quote was " we all scoop different! No offer to make it right. The ice cream was good. I didn't expect chunks in the orange/pineapple but it added to the flavor. There are outside tables with a resident bee who annoyed me. I didn't see a tip jar which is unusual but OK, but then I didn't get any napkins and none were on the counter either. I guess you don't get what you don't tip for? There are quite a few ice cream places closer to me than Erickson's. It takes me 20 minutes to get there even in good traffic. But it is my favorite and that's where I go. If there were a total of two scoops, it would surprise me. The ice cream was okay, but mocha almond had a few minuscule bits of the nut. We love our ice cream and feel fortunate that every town in this area, if not all over Massachusetts has an ice cream stand. This one we will not visit again. I'm a local so I wish I could give a good review but I just can't. They have Awful soft serve ice cream. Vanilla tastes like sweetened skim milk, chocolate tastes like nothing. Honestly if It did not Look like chocolate I'd have never guessed it was. One can feel the ice crystals in it. Despite being hungry we threw it out. I tried a couple of flavors: apple strudel and graham cracker central. The apple strudel was great. It tastes very much like an apple pie a la mode. The graham cracker central tasted promising (i.e. it's great when you first eat it), but it has a weird process-y aftertaste. Pass on that flavor. Can't believe it got only four stars on yelp. Ice cream was beyond scurmptcious. Had the Graham Central. It had graham crackers, chocolate chip, and mixed in wih a butterscotch caramel flavor ice cream. Ice Cream had a smooth rich texture typical of what new England Ice Cream should be.
